    B... great content as always. I'm in no way as experienced as you in video, but I thought I'd mention a few things that I did with the OP3 (from a 3 week trip to SE Asia). I did move to a 256 card so I didn't have to remove that super small card out LOL. I have a 3-stop ND on 95% of the time. I shoot at -.03 EV (lots of talk about this on web). I use 50-800 auto iso (instead of full range). I used standard profile (-2 sharpness. color normal, WB 5600 ) vs D-Log (as I didn't want to grade all that stuff). I shoot everything in 4k60. *You can shoot vertical 4k (vs 2.7K portrait mode) by holding it sideways (horizontal) without having to change the mode or crop. Lastly, I don't know if you have experienced this, but it will turn on by depressing the record button (no flip of the screen). Several times it has "turned on" in my bag without me knowing it.

      I really appreciate that... Thank you so much, and the Pocket 3 is great for someone like yourself starting out, but it's so capable that it will be great for years to come, so it's a solid investment. Enjoy it!!

    It's super impressive. All the info and insight are great. It's amazing where the tech can take a TH-camr and Filmmaker-it proves you don't have to spend thousands to get great shots! It makes me wonder how long the DJI Pocket 3 will last. I still have my A7c with no plans to upgrade (if you know what I mean).

    • @BrianCatalano
      @BrianCatalano  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know, as video creators, we are so lucky to have so many great tools that keep getting better, year after year. Yet, even more to our benefit, cameras made 4 to 5 years ago, are still better than most of us need!
      So I don't blame you at all for not upgrading... It's honestly, probably the wiser move!

      Thank you so much... This video definitely took longer than I expected it to, but it's because the pocket 3 is so easy to use that I just had too much footage to cut, but I'm glad you found this video specifically helpful as I know there's a boatload or reviews already out for this thing!

    been using mine for a year for paid work and fun. At weddings and events I mount it on my FX30 cage- get a wide shot with pocket 3 and can zoom with the FX30-- 2 points of view from same location-matches pretty good and also use Davinci to match better

    • @BrianCatalano
      @BrianCatalano  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bruce4kfilms I'm really tempted to go with this workflow next, as in mount the pocket 3 to fx3 to get dual coverage with different focal lengths... So that's great to hear that it works for you on professional gigs!

    • @bruce4kfilms
      @bruce4kfilms หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BrianCatalano I use it somehow on each gig even though I have other cameras also filming from different angles, the P3 is eith on my camera cage or a tripod/monopod type I have for it. @bruce4kfilms that's a great idea that I need to do too. I used to do something like that on my GoPro (the faux drone shot) but the p3 is basically a drone that can't fly, so that's smart!

    Sheesh...how long did it take you to make this video?! You've got some patience!! And I didn't know you had a Pocket 3! Yay, we are Pocket buddies! Hahaha Honestly, I didn't remember the pocket had D-log lol. Something for me to remember in the future. Do you think you could actually get away with filming your real estate videos with only the pocket? I know I havent pushed it to its limits, so videos like this help me to understand its true abilities. Waiting for the nightime video with the Pocket! Your model is so cool and pretty, but also, it was fun to see you vlog without a script in some parts! You are ideed human like me hahaha Great work, as always....(wish I could make videos like this..)!

    • @BrianCatalano
      @BrianCatalano  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This video, as usual, took me too long, but also I had problems on premiere and been doing more real estate videos, which I do use my pocket 3 a lot on. I only use it as supplemental shots but sometimes the pocket 3 looks better than my other cameras.
      I still don't have the vlogging thing down, but it is slightly easier for me when I'm with someone else... That's one of the reasons I always take my friend with me to model to take all the attention off of me.
      Also, I don't think you need to change up your videos at all, no need to bother with dlog...

      @jrthexgamer great question, and I wish I knew exactly... My presumption is that it will eventually...
      But the first one came out in 2015, the 2 came out in 2020, and the Pocket 3 came out Nov. 2023, so I imagine the pocket 4 won't come out any earlier than late 2025 or 2026, but I have no clue really!

    Great video! I think I'll get the osmo pocket 3 in addition to my a7c2 finally. But I have one last question before I decide to buy it. I have a google pixel 8 pro and I know you do too, the osmo pocket is still worth it. (sorry for my English)

    • @BrianCatalano
      @BrianCatalano  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's a great question...and funny we have the same gear! I use my phone most often to take quick pics, mostly because I can edit and share. Yet, the osmo 3, I use mostly for video. The stabilization and bigger sensor make it, in my opinion so much better...and something I use on paid shoots whereas I wouldn't use my phone. The pocket 3 is also the perfect vlog cam, where I wouldn't even attempt it on the pocket 3.
      I guess the question is, what do you "need" it for?

    I notice D Cine and V Cine are close to a sony look, a sony look most likely using a fuji emulation. I pointed both at a basketball and saw Sony looked better but was able to use VLog to grade it with a bit of trail and error,

      @@BrianCatalano I notice with my dog, the dji pocket 2 and iphone 13 pro just dont hit with 8 bit he is missing alot of detail, but in video mega pixels are not as essential, maybe with a wide angle its a loss, but I think this is the right video camera for what I need for my music video work, then ofc with photos I need the range of detail if Im getting paid,
      But the Down Scaling on sony looks amazing as if it was just 6k even with 12 megapixels, I now see why the A7Cii just looks so appealing no matter who demos
      I think the read out helps with sports and cinema, I dont know what it is but its easier for me to focus on the Sony, truer to life more documentary and cinematic IMO
      Zv-e1 + A7cii means I can just swap lenses between which would rock, but thats 6,000 for the new g master and all,
      Think the S9 is solid for me but I can only afford mieke primes for both, while I try to get a pocket 3 and more modern 360 cam, as well as replace the dji mini 3 pro with the 4 for low light but no rush, a gimbal
      I use the slypod mono e
      and last but not least, the main cine lens, sigma 24-70 constant ap
      Knocked out my most expensive items but the lens thought process with wanting to trade the S9 down the road for the A7cii
      is,
      Buy whatever I can get hired to use
      So L mount primes for photo atm
      Then Sony Constant Ap lens for music video,
      360 cameras for any and all action, it's too dope!
      as well as just setting the pocket down to record for an hour or so as a second camera
      I recommend to you a Hover Air Pro, its improved alot and its my main work horse as I do lots of biking clips now
      Quick note, Sony footage seems to be more recoverable and useable at any point than the lumix which requires more attention,
      When you factor in true slow mo its hard to chose the s9 over the Sony unless you plan to get the pocket 3...
      Due to build quality and weather sealing the Xm-5 seems to be a flop for where I live, was hoping to get that and compare the three, but I truly think between the a7cii and the e1, everything you could need is in one lens ecosystem
      Sorry for the book lol

    So you kept repeating that you actually preferred the standard profile over the D Log, can you elaborate? I've not shot or graded much with it but have with other mirrorless. I've noticed that sometimes when you grade with these ultra compacts that they mess up the image a bit like with the sharpness and detail. I've actually noticed that on my drone footage and actually prefer to go against the Log settings and shoot straight out regular profile, even though I grade my other footage from my main bodies.

    • @BrianCatalano
      @BrianCatalano  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@shipwreck8847 I definitely understand all that, and especially if the footage is 8bit, it can be hard to move the colors around by grading the clips without ruining the quality of the footage.
      For me with dlog, as I described and showed a few times in the video, I prefer tweaking the standard colors, especially the skin tones, because I prefer how it exposes for the sky. As I compared, the sky stayed blue in the standard color but I couldn't grade the dlog with all the same settings to look the same.
      Also, that color grading tutorial I linked you to in the other comment, is how I fix the skin tones by using the hue vs saturation curves. Hope any of this helps!
