Well, the sub contrabass is actually just a subcompact version of the contrabass, making it slightly easier to transport, but still cannot be carried (at least by a normal person lol)
@@jorkles4691 it is possible like subcontrabass instrurments or instrurments below the Contrabass register are so low they can't even be heard unless you have a bass or big bass speaker
Thanks Lucradis, we've had a particularly busy few months here at the shop but we're going to make sure we get many more videos made over the next few months!
This sax is awesome, great to see saxes still being made lie this, and this is why I quite like what Eppelsheim is doing, making these types of instruments that no one else is nowadays. You mentioned most things but one important one, what kind of mouthpiece and reeds does this use? I'd love to come to your stores, maybe one day, I live in Northern Ireland so a bit further away at the moment. I was wanting to know though, could you do a review of the Eastman EAS253 alto sax? I can find very little information about it, no reviews and was wanting to know how it sounds and plays, maybe compared to similar priced saxes like the Yamaha 280 alto.
A couple of questions I have. How much is it? Does the low A extension work similarly to a bari sax? What is the full range of the instrument? Could a bari sax mouthpiece work or does this have its own special mouthpiece? Also imagine how much spit comes out when you press the water key
I was watch a new video about the Contrabass Clarinet that came out a day before this video and a Contrabass Clarinet cost 32K. I wonder how much that thing costs? 😂
How much do the reeds cost? They're a fortune for bass saxophones, I can only imagine the price for this one... P.S. I still think effect pedals on tenor and baritone are a cheaper way of achieving the same result that produces a more stable sound.
Please let me strap on this big contrabass saxophone so I can blow out some cool low notes for awhile and then end up the session blowing out some really low notes.
The Bass saxophone is an octave below the Tenor Saxophone. The ContraBass Saxophone is an octave lower than the Baritone Saxophone. Technically, you are correct, if we continue the usage of the contra prefix in naming, it should be contra baritone . BUT, normal usage of musical voicing is soprano, alto, tenor, bass. Baritone voices can play/sing most of the Tenor range and many of the higher Bass pitches, but wasn't a term used in the beginning of music. Baritone fits the tessitura, range, of the Baritone Saxophone so Adolphus Saxophone named it that. ContraBass Saxophone hadn't been invented at that time.
In my opinion it really should be called a contra-baritone saxophone rather than an Eb contrabass saxophone. Like an Eb contra-alto clarinet instead of an Eb contrabass clarinet.
Oh heck he played warriors
I don't even play the sax and I love these types of videos. Such a great sound. Much love from the US.
That last song you played sounded like Warriors by Too Many Zooz
it was
Mikedamort because he was playin 2mz lol

You don’t march with it, it march’s with you...
CornFlakes Cereal They marched an older model that’s even more clunky
I met Benedikt Eppelsheim once at his shop in Munich. He showed me around and told me a little about how he makes these saxophones.
This is the only reason I’d want to go to London.
That thing dwarfs all of the baritones around it
Must be fun to polish.
Oh yes... fun
Hey want to come over this weekend
Nah I got to polish a saxophone
All weekend?

That low A E flat contrabass saxophone and the low C B flat contrabass clarinet make a good duo.
Marcel Helland would love this low A E flat contrabass saxophone.
Im Baritone player and that is nothing compared to this beast.
Why don't you cover "another one bites the dust" with the contrabass saxophone as a bass?
Oh my God why does this exist im low enough as a saxophone

Thank you Mike! This video was terrific! Its pitch is insane.
Get Leo back to do some multi-phonics on it!
Please tell me.
In what situation would the neck strap actually be useful???
I’ve heard it could be played on a really beefy harness
When the hulk joins a jazz band

I wanna bring this to band and say I’m playing this now

Question:
Is it possible to get one of these things with a shoulder strap?
Not asking if it's practical
I'm asking if it's possible
Not sure about a shoulder strap but a vandoren sax harness I think is beefy enough to hold it
How can you even hold that? I can barely hold a baritone sax in a play position
