  • I know I had a problem with the control panel, but couldn't figure it out. So I removed the instrument panal and found out what it was. Hopefully this helps other sentra owners with the same problem. This is the b15 series (00-06) so if u have anything before or after those years, other issues may be a factor.

    I have zero mechanic skills and was still able to fix my AC from only flowing defrost to shooting cold air in my face (very important for summer in florida)! Thanks for this video brother! Youre a life saver!

    If ur talking about the piece of plastic that broke, then yes it can be fixed. Sit the hold down bracket in place just like it should be, then take a couple zip ties and tie it securely in place. It's a real easy fix and really cheap. Even today I haven't had a problem with it and that's exactly what I did. Hopefully this helps

      Thanks a lot for the idea! I just fixed my car with two zip ties. The only problem I had was figuring out how to make it a tight fit and that was solved by just having the head part on the opposite side of the bracket so they all can sit more flush. Thanks again and happy holidays!

    This was it, thanks. I almost pulled back to see if it was electrical before I pulled the whole thing apart, but double checked google. Removed the retention clip and placed 3 zip ties in it's place and the fan selector sw works fine now.

    the videowas very helpful. I had the same problem with the black clip. I couldn't get the ac to work because of that black clip, it was stuck on heat. it didn't hold the wire in place. i put the wire in place put the black clip on it and tie it down with a plastic tie.works perfect now i can switch from cold to heat. The work was done on a 2006 sentra 1.8s. i would never had figured it out until i came upon your video.

    Thanks for the video. It helped a lot. My wife's Sentra is stuck in the defrost position. I took the dash apart the other day but I was thinking the mechanism for the cable was further in. It was dark, late and I was tired. I will try this approach in a little while and let you know how it came out. Thanks again.

      Ok done! It was that clip that wasn't holding the sleeve. Plastic part of the console had broken off. Used two small self tapping screws with washers and screwed them into the plastic console to hold clip in place. The hardest part to me was flipping the console.
      Thanks again for the video!

    The air flow control knob on my 96 sentra stops when I try to turn it to full defrost or full face. I can move it from face/feet to feet/defrost with a little resistance, but I'm afraid if I try to force the knob to full defrost or full face, I'll break something. The knob controls a cable, similar to the problem in the video. The cable is being pushed/pulled, as I watched the other end move back and forth above the accelerator pedal… I'm not sure why it gets stuck… I can't fix the problem, but I've been needing full defrost lately because it's getting cold and rainy.

    Having the same issue in my wifes sentra. smh she thought it was normal for it not to work but its 18 degrees this week and she can only get the defrost . im going to climb in tomorrow and pop that sucker open and see if my problem fits your solution! thanks for the video!!!
    let me ask you about another problem I have with the car . when we start the car usually a warm start the turnover takes like 5 seconds its not an instant start. but thats been happening forever ive just never pursued a solution till now?

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      If u have an SE-R (2.5 motor) it's normal for those motors. I've seen quite a few on a forums page on facebook talking about hesitant starting. If u want to join and find out exactly what it is the page is "B15 sentra" it's a closed group but if join there's quite a few guys in there that can help. I personally never had that problem but they can help for sure. Now there is some sarcastic guys in there but just look past them and u can find one that can help u. Sry it took so long to reply I've been moving so my focus hasn't really been on TH-cam.

    I've got that problem. Also have a problem with the a/c running even when the switch isn't depressed. Try to use the heater, boom, a/c kicks on.

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Finke that sounds like a board issue. If the switch didnt go out on the defroster selection I'd say it's the board.

    Hi there, I have a 05 nissan sentra se-r and I am experiencing the same problem. My AC and temp control knob works, but the vent control knob seems to have stuck on one position (face; which is vents just above stereo). I watched you video (thanks for that) and figured you had exact same problem. But I am not able to figure out which part is culprit here. The little panel in the back that is spring controlled or the small pin that moves in and out. Can you please elaborate the fix?

    • @nitinkhatti
      @nitinkhatti 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      FYI, the vent control knob is moving to all positions but its just not working the way it should (like you mentioned in the video).

  • @Covert_skyline
    @Covert_skyline  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    as long as it's just the plastic lip that holds the bracket down, u can just zip tie it down.

    Don't know if you'll see this but i need the cable replaced on mine, we bought a new one cause my '03 had a knob break and we didnt realize ee couldve just wiggled out the cable and we started cutting the cable and now theyre too short and we cant get them close enough to splice them or solder together

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive never done the cable work on these but depending which cable needs replaced the dash may need to be taken out.

    • @grizz_10
      @grizz_10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Covert_skyline its the cables that attach to the actuator to the dial so i can change from heat to cold and vice versa and also the vents, right now i have it set to blow on front vents and AC.

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the cable for the blend door shouldnt be to bad considering the door housing is down by the center of the instruments. The direction cable tho im not sure to be honest. Ive been fortunate enough to not have to do any of them.

    • @grizz_10
      @grizz_10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Covert_skyline they seem simple to fix but i just can't find them anywhere to purchase, all that comes up are the actual actuators themselves which i don't need since mine work fine still

  • @bustersae

    But how do you fix it? Nissan says the entire panel has to be replaced.

  • @sheilanorman7581

    Just found this video and I am having the same problem. Now, that I know the problem, which part do I replace for a 2006 Sentra?

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sheila Norman if you absolutely need to replace it Nissan is going to charge an arm and a leg. Your best bet is to go to a junkyard and find one either the 02 through the 06 years and replace it with a junkyard part. If you can have someone help you jerry-rigged the parts so that way you can save a lot more money

    How do you start the job? In other words, how do you take the dash apart? I can't seem to find any screws, tabs, etc. I have the exact same problem with my '06 Sentra and am certain that this is the fix. If I could only figure out how to take the dash apart!

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Dulina theres pop tabs for the gear shift and the plastic cover on the fan control panel, the top storage box slides off towards the rear off the car but be careful for hazaed light switch. after u pop those off u will find the screws u will need to remove the panel.

      Seems like a quick and easy fix then. I PROBABLY should have looked into it sooner, but I didn't (PROCRASTINATION FTW!). Today it started snowing and until I get it fixed, I have no defrost.

    Mine broke on the foot and I can’t get it to vent/face even if I push that metal thingy all the way in.. if I pull it it will go to defrost/foot then defrost only.. what am I missing here?

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maro kh there may be something blocking the door inside the dash, if so then that may be y the bracket broke.

    • @omarkhatab942
      @omarkhatab942 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Covert Skyline where is the bracket? Can it be fixed?

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maro kh it's the little black piece by the automatic a c switch I point out in the video. It can be fixed by ziptieing it to the board or a self tapping screw thru the plastic. Just make sure u don't hit anything in the board

    • @omarkhatab942
      @omarkhatab942 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Covert Skyline I really want to switch it to vent for good, I don’t use the foot/defrost much anyways, any idea how to switch it manually to vent/face?

    • @Covert_skyline
      @Covert_skyline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maro kh pulling it should put it on the the face vents, if it doesn't then the door is blocked by something.
