Nice one just subscribed, I run a Porsche channel so a little biased but I think you need the 981s or 4.0 718 to swap from an m2. 718 drives awesome but you would miss the i6.
Great video! In the Netherlands the Porsche 718 Boxster T € 98,700.00. BMW Z4 sDrive 30i.Model M Sport.€ 71,672.44. I can't see the additional €27k justification for the Porsche at all.
@@TunedIntoCars Because in the Netherlands you get taxed into the ground when buying new ICE cars based on CO2 output (on paper).. It's ridiculous how much fun ICE sportcars cost because of the extra (BPM) tax, on top of the standard 21% VAT.. The BMW Z4 M40i is also 94k, with a manual even well over 100k (no joke!).. 23-30+k more than the 4-cilinder 30i just because it has a 6-cilinder engine (and a manual with some options).. Only realistic and smart option therefor is to buy fun ICE cars used, 3-6 years old with low km's, unless you really want to waste a lot of money on paying that extra BPM tax.. I bought my 2018 Porsche 718 Boxster (base 2.0L with PDK) with only 21k km's for half the new price.. Unfortunately not excatly the way I would spec it when buying new, but it's close enough and that luxury (and pleasure) is simply not worth the extra money for me.. Not rich enough to not care unfortunately..
Finally Paul, the new car! It's perfect in every way, but one...that sound. Look forward to your usual quality updates next year on what its like to live with. You get extra points for a manual transmission.
Yes, the sound, the sound, but come on finally I have to say it -- this is so UNFAIR. Alpine? Oh, such a perfection, the best! And this and that. I have never ever seen in *any* review anyone complaining about Alpine sound. To the degree that I expected it to be better than 718s. And then I test drove... Let me tell you this: if 2/3s of 911 engine is sooo bad and sounds soo bad, then why no one complaints about Alpine's Renault 1.8 engine that not only sounds like shit but is shit. For Jesus Christ sake we're comparing proper Porsche engine taken from 911 and downsized to the engine that was taken straight from Megane save for a couple changes. For *the same* price! Public doesn't know this, but 718 sounds just so much better that Alpine. And somehow reading and watching reviews there are people out there cancelling 718 to get Alpine. Based on unfair reviews. This is nuts! The anger is due to 4-cylinder sports Porsche. This sounds like oxymoron and makes people laugh and ridicule. Renault making 4-cyl engines sounds about ok. That's the reason why. The engine is downsized 911 engine and sounds and delivers fantastic!
Everyone's different, but I couldn't give up my M2's glorious sound and amazing acceleration for the Boxster T. Love the looks of the Boxster, interior kills the M2, but my M2 isn't my daily driver, it's for when I want to go out canyon carving and driving, um, aggressively... That means putting petal to the metal and feeling the car shoot forward and scream! Just not sure if a discount Boxster is a step up from the M2, but to each their own!
Why would you call it a discount Boxster? Anyway. I can't disagree with you regarding power & sound, the M2 has that. Hard to beat those with a 4 cylinder... But everywhere else, the Boxster (to me) feels superior. Damping, steering, driving position, transmission, etc. And I personally prefer a great handling car to a fast one. And like I've said in some comments below, I can always go for the previous Boxster S, with the flat-six and... problem solved :) We'll see, next spring I'll decide.
@@TunedIntoCars Thinking about it, I believe any day now the C8 mid engine corvette is supposed to be announced any day now. Rumor has it, it'll start at around $62k, which blows my mind! That's an amazingly affordable price for what should be a fantastic car! I love Porsches, but you really need to open your wallet to get one with serious oomph... couldn't see getting a Porsche that takes nearly 5 seconds to get to 60. Love your reviews, though, even if we don't see eye to eye on everythingl

It was a fantastic engine makes glorious sound but being a NA engine it does not benefit from tuning potential. That's why Porsche had to bring 4 litre flat six engine for 718 to beat 2.5 turbocharged four pot.
I’m seriously considering this over the GTS. Don’t laugh! I want to change gear more. I’m worried I’d be hugely frustrated driving a GTS that can stay in 2nd gear most of the time.
Not worth replacing. Just buy one next to it so you have a coupe and a cabrio. At least i have and m2 and will not sell it but i plan on buying a boxster next to it. Just cannot decide about which one, s or t or gts.
I said it's harder to operate and the clutch is a bit heavy. It feels very mechanical :) But I like that in a sports car, it feels more involving to drive.
@@TunedIntoCars Ok. It sounds at odds to the light nimble precis nature of rest of the car too me. I disliked my Gen2 Cayman S for the same reason. Each to their own though. Keep up the great work.

M2 was great, but chassis and transmission wise, it just can't match the Porsche. The only weak point of the Boxster is the engine, but I can always go for the previous generation and that's solved the problem :)
@@TunedIntoCars yeah, it's very hard to match the weight, center of gravity, weight balance, agility of a purporse-built car that was engineered as a sports car in the first place with a car based on a platform made for daily driving.
@@TunedIntoCars Now I'm in the same situation like you. Preparing selling my 6mt M2 but don't know what taking after... Had a Cay S in my mind, but I'll not get ok with the 4-cylinder..actually i will test a Megane Trophy in a few days. This might be a funny 4-cylinder 😁

Would highly recommend a Boxster S or GTS. The power difference is quite significant.
The S is only better than this is you spec the wheels, PTV, PASM and Chrono etc. I’d take the handling over the extra 50hp.

A poper sport car, Porsche is nice but I would go for Alpine A110. Much more special in my opinion.
