    Improving her technique and changing the perspective on singing a bit (not totally) would benefit Christina in a lots of different ways, style and technique can coexist.
    That being said, it's simply amazing that after so much Christina still enjoys as much vocal ability as she does.

      Again, there's more to singing & voice type than belting & even with her questionable technique in belting she was still able to sing well into the 5th octave with that chest dominant mix & strain. Well a good musician would rearrange their songs to properly Accommodate their voices for live performances which Christina doesn’t do very often and that has lead to the many disastrous strained and painful to the war vocals in past and some recent vocal performances in of hers. In her debut era she definitely had more ease in her high upper belts (F5, F#5, G5 & G#5) than what she does now. But she has always been consistent with her belting apart from the fact that she's lost some range in her high chest. However this is to be expected because she's been singing for over 30+ years since she was a child and age will of course change your voice no matter how good your technique as well as many other factors like to much alcohol, over singing and child birth (she's had two children). The fact that up until this point she's shown us over 20+ of longetivity and consistency is truly a miracle. Shes improved dramatically since her debut in 1999 with her lows and her 'clean vocal moments' as well as more dynamics and textures and manipulation. People need to stop being so judgemental and just feel blessed that we get to experience her music and talent. I love her so much. She really is a marvel of nature ♥️

      At the time she recorded Reflection in 1998, E5 was the top of her belt range (at least her belt range with mix that sounded full). The bit of vocal training she got around that time to make sure the Eb5 was consistent helped her briefly expand her belting range, but naturally F5 and G5 are the extreme limit of belting for her.

    If you are a professional singer you should sing properly, no other way around it, you are singing all the time, if you put your voice under so much strain for an extended period of time YOU WILL damage it. However in Xtina's case we also have to consider her voice has changed over the years naturally as well. I think her instrument could be in better condition than it is today had she sang properly before but there is not significant damage from what i hear, probably due to not touring in a while.

    I love this woman so much, she saved my life with Stripped as I was being bullied at school, I would just come home and listen to that album, it just gave me so much strength. I won’t lie, my favorite vocal era was probably Mi Reflejo (loved the clean, bright Whitney-ish tone she had back then, and how she would hit D5,E5,F/F#5 or even G5, also her runs back then we’re crazy!) and then Stripped, that’s when she kinda started with the rasp, her voice matured and her tone became fuller and richer in the lower mid register but she could still belt E5s and F5s. One of my all time favorite performances was Beautiful at the 2004 Grammy awards, that high raspy note at the climax...oh my God.
    but now, it’s become way too much rasp and straining for me. I still love her and saw her live for the first time with the Liberation tour, it was amazing, but I wished she learned a healthier technique. I know for her technique is a secondary thing... anyway. I’ll always lover her.

    Many vocal coach and vocal enthusiasts prefer people not to do what Christina does, because not everyone can do what she can continuously. Like what vocal coach Georgina said, she's a pro, she knows her instrument and limits well, and has been performing for such a long time. If people wanna do her style, they need to know their voice really well or else they might risk their voice. I'm sure she's also takes care of her voice to make it last. She really made that singing style hers, nowadays, many people are inspired by her and people would be impressed if someone is able to pull off her styles. Her vocal style and songs are some of the hardest we've seen, not everyone can pull her songs just like that, and she did all of those with her voice, so she knows what she's doing.

Combined with her naturally high extremally flexible voice...she just blew the roof back in the 2000s and still to this day manages to be one of the greatest.

    I believe her voicce dislocated in the scale and gain more range and depth on low notes. It's clear that from Bionic to Lotus her voice was pretty different and the range of most songs as well. All that weight gain, in my opinion affeccted her. It was not eating, there was something more. Her voice was changing pretty fast on first 5 years. When Stripped came on it was pretty stable, continued to be until Bionic.
    When Lotus came outher voice was different. Lower, havier, the high notes pushed and the belt with strain. Most of her material is now lower than used to be and the range has changed by not keeping the high all the time. It's not the techinique, she is doing all that cause she wants - now it'stimeto deal with the consequences.
    As I told before, her voice dislocated. She's been singing on the alto/mezzo tessitura for some pretty long years, but recently - most of that goes for the low notes. The voice has lost the agility, shine and light on the mid - highs since Bionic - u all can listen to that by just pressing play or going for live performances.
    It happens to many singers, she must take care. Most of her old songs became really hard to perform properly - like Lady Marmelade and Makes Me Wanna Pray, so many others - unfortunally it happens, but still good. Maybe taking some time with a good teacher, a new vocal coach would help her a lot.

    • @jacobpeguero4115
      @jacobpeguero4115 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Her voice definitely dislocated. The difference between bionic and b2b are so different. They’re a different voice. I theorize it’s because of her pregnancy. Some women’s voices permanently
      deepen due to the hormonal changes. Legit, listen to Christina in 2006 vs 2007. In just one year her instrument drastically changed.

    That's how I sing because I'm an untrained singer, even though I'm in beginning of vocal lessons. But you would think someone as Christina would be more trained in how to properly use her voice, she's been around for awhile now. To be honest alot of favorite artists have terrible technique, but their tones are so beautiful, and people overlook that when you listen to their music. Maybe it's why careers end like after a decade or so, some sooner especially during sophomore and junior albums. Our voices are instruments and just because it makes glorious sounds, doesn't mean you don't need to train it. No different than learning to play a violin or drum they make great music, but without technique it will sound like trash.

  • @ChristoAbrie
    @ChristoAbrie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Christina doesn't use improper technique, its completely the opposite. the fact that her voice has retained it's health despite how much she seems to be able to push it displays that she does exercise the proper techniques. this woman knows her voice so well, and she knows her limits and how much she can push it. according to this video, Christina's aggressive singing style is considered "improper". firstly, no two voices are the same, so one particular style might not be suited for your voice, that doesn't make it improper, Christina is known for her powerful soulful voice, because she trained it to be that way and that's the style that suits her voice the best; secondly, Christina knows how to be expressive with her voice and sometimes it calls for a little more style-over-substance, as long as it's done in moderation your voice would be sustainable. you can be a technically accurate singer, but if you don't know how to engage with the crowd through your singing, then you won't have a career.

    I think people have to consider that a lot of singers sang like this back in the day. Etta James, James Brown, Patti Labelle, etc. However, people who really crossed over were the singers like Aretha, who “defined” what soul and gospel was to the general public, but we have to remember that other singers existed and sounded just like Christina, if not, more dramatic.
    For example:
    Compare Patti Labelle to Aretha Franklin on the song “Ain’t no way” and it’s HUUUGE DIFFERENCE. You compare Christina’s version of “At last” with Beyoncé’s version and it’s a HUUUGE difference. It’s all preference in my opinion. I enjoy both. Both are equally as heartfelt and emotional.

There are plenty of other female singers out there older and just have a slightly better technique than Christina and can still hit F5's and above with the same vocal type as her. The age thing is a myth. It's technique you need (and also a good lifestyle), not an excuse. Hell, tenors that are trained for bel canto can still blow all the "tenors" of today in their 80's. Technique will carry you until you're old. Stamina is different from it.

  • @SlayvatoLover
    @SlayvatoLover 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I disagree when you say "She didn't have any effect".
    First of all, what "saved her" from completely dying vocally is that even when she's straining for real, she uses a lot her diaphragm, she just adds way tll much tensions and high larynx, but the support from the diaphragm is here. (As u can notice she can project for dayz)
    Now, that"saved her" from being like Alicia Keys, but it doesn't mean that it had no effect.
    First : she has lost a lot of years throught the decade, even tho most fans don't admit it, she did. She still can belt high, but it's more and more rare and she lost control on the E5-F#5 notes, she rarely nail them. (Doesn't mean that she can't do them, she does them but it's almost ALWAYS yelled, almost, so let's not talk about few ones that were decent)
    Second : She fails more shows every year. Young christina rarely failed a show, I mean she had failed few songs because she's a human but it was pretty rare. Now it is way less rare. Again, it doesn't mean she can't sing or she's always failing all of her shows, it means that she is failing more shows than before.
    Third : Every 3 weeks she has a week at least where she struggles to belt middle range notes. (A4-D5) The best example is during Fall in Line, when she was without Demi and yelled every single note above A4. It generally doesn't last for too long, but it's still a week where her vocal cords just can't do it anymore. Those kind of stuff rarely happens to singers that have good technique, I mean, yelling a whole song... And not only one, but a whole week of songs. Even tho, she did a good job during James Corden
    Fourth : Her vocal decline is obvious and every fan indirectly notice it, even if most of them don't admit it. (again) Before, I rarely saw people saying "Omg, she made a clear D5!!"
    Now people are shocked when she does a clear B4 or C5, not even supported, just clean.
    Fifth: She has completely lost the ability to fully support high notes. While before, she could rarely support high notes, now, she can't support them at all. She didn't make a supported B4 since a long time ago. Now she does one every semester lol. (supported meaning Neutral/low larynx + no tensions, NO TENSIONS at all again, no throatiness at all, and great breath support.)

    • @aintnootherfan
      @aintnootherfan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I didn’t say it didn’t have ANY effect.
      But considering how much her voice has been put through, less comfort and less consistency above A4 doesn’t seem like that much.
      Still she could have preserved her voice better, sure, but the fact she still has the ability that she has is mind blowing to me!
      Like, after so much you would expect her voice to not be able to produce clear notes at all, to not able to achieve connection, constant cracking, drastic change in timbre

      I disagree with you in many ways, nowadays it RARELY misses notes or makes "ugly" and siouvir ruins, as notes even Eb5 have been very well done, a technique that is much better. Its support currently goes up to d5, nothing too bad for those who spent almost 3 years with a failure in many ways.

      Have you even heard Christina from 2000? She cracked and skipped a lot of performances. These past 3 years is the most consistent she has ever been. Forget the high end of her range because that’s irrelevant. The way she uses her voice now and how she KNOWS her limits is what’s important. She didn’t know that back then. And you saying she sometimes has difficulty with A4-C5s is honestly inaccurate. She deliberately distorts notes. That’s her trademark. Listen to her last performance Love Brave True. She gave 5 clean C5s before distorting the 6th one. And she can easily sing C#5s. Her vocal decline is beyond overblown, especially when she sounds so amazing so often and most importantly SO consistent. Her losing Es/Fs really doesn’t matter. That’s bound to happen and comes with age. She’s turning 40 this year. What’s important is how clear her speaking and singing voice is.

      jacob peguero Now, I’m no expert. But I love studying the voice and music. Many vocalists that have mastered the voice will tell you that decline comes when you don’t take care of your instrument. Regardless of what vocal fach she is, her age is where her voice should be reaching full maturity. Meaning she should sound better than ever. Every fan can hear her struggle on parts where she shouldn’t be and it’s dishonest of the uploader of this video to put out misinformation about the extent of her damage. She’s lost half of her range, that’s serious.

      Her current range is B2 to E5 and G6. In her prime, her range was C3-F#5-A6. How is that losing half her range? AND she can do the same acrobatics as before, her voice is now richer, and her stamina is literally the same. The notes she lost were going to be lost due to age anyway. AND some women’s voices do become lower after childbirth. Google it. It definitely happened to Christina.

    this video skips over the fact that it takes a lot of technique to be able to sing the way she does. Not everyone can add growl, rasp, texture, etc to their voice. Christina does it like pro.

    I think the reason her voice hasnt deteriorate that much is bcoz she took really2 long time to produce an album. On average she took 3 years to release a new album and her last album released was like 5-6 years since the previous one. She also hardly ever tour. She hasnt toured for more than 10 years until her recent liberation tour. Even when she was younger, when she was doing tours, the dates was very small. She did like 40-50 dates per tour. That really isnt that much. To be honest she hardly sing that much compared to other female artists in a span of 20 years career.

    Bottomline is that if you can just at least improve healthily your singing technique without sacrificing much of your sound, then it is much of a better place for the singer and us fans.
