Can I just say that Tori Kelly singing Don't You Worry Bout' A Thing at the Sing premiere really solidified her for me as an amazing vocalist. She was singing for her LIFE up on that stage omggg. Amazing runs, great mid belts, killer transition at the end, she was going IN
Demi's major technical issue is really the other issues you mentioned (high larynx, nasality etc.) her vibrato is an issue but not major enough for the masses to take notice... JoJo's main issue is her mix in belting; it sounds quite tense a lot. Great video!
Jojo just has a pretty chesty mix that gets the best of her (I think that's her biggest flaw) after prolonged singing so she starts pushing when she's feeling tired. Otherwise, she's relaxed. And tbh Demi's worst issue is her godforsaken pushing + her love for high belts. It'll destroy her voice in the long run, whereas her unnatural vibrato really only hinders her support.
The difference is JoJo sings with the correct technique to when belting or resonating in the bigger notes while Demi, unfortunately, strains and pushes the notes she knows good and well she cannot hit otherwise...its unfortunate because Demi can SANG, but she doesn't seem to want to learn proper technique to save her voice for the years to come...JoJo will have a voice much longer than Demi if that keeps up...
She doesn't sound quite tense a lot! And just saying, a chesty mix like hers isn't a issue thanks to her incredible technique, the only problem that mix will create is some fatigue after songs with a lot of high notes. Her major problem her allergies, that makes her chesty mix even chestier, and fucks up with her stamina.
Lucas Melo No. She tenses. If she was using good technique, even with allergies, she wouldn’t sound like someone is putting her voice through a meat grinder...JoJo sings with allergies and she still sounds like she can hold her notes without cracking (unintentionally) or stopping or going sharp/flat. No excuses. She wants a certain sound at the expenses of her voice and it shows - and it’ll only keep showing until her voice ends up like these other singers who now can’t hit notes they used to with ease.🤷🏽♀️🤦🏾♀️👍🏽
i'm so mad at ariana, SHE HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL. she has the potential to at least consistently support up to eb5 since that's when she starts to raise her larynx. but then she has tension that unables her to support those mid belts. but then for her upperbelts, they dont have very much tension but she raises her larynx which obviously blocks support. her and demi have the potential to save this generation if they just work on thier technique ;(
me too mann. i think they both may be improving? idk. w ariana, i think it's mainly the vocal coach's (eric vetro) fault for not teaching her that her tongue tension is causing serious issues with her vocals. im more mad at the coach, not ari! she or the coach needs to realize that she could be considered one of the best of this generation if she just worked on her tension sksksk
thank you for saying what you said about Kelly! as much as it sucks to admit your fav has some vocal flaws, it needs to be said. most of Kelly's throatiness came from after her pregnancies so it's been an adjustment to a lot of us. she's been getting better, but yes! thank you! also you are so right on these other singers too!
agreed. love Kelly but her vocal flaws have been more pronounced since her pregnancies. she is slowly getting better but still not to the point of her, imo her best era vocally, late Stronger/Duets/Wrapped in Red era
St0rm124g3r XL tbh 2011-2013, Kelly was just a force that couldn't be messed with. i miss those times, they definitely could've extended to 2014/2015 but i understand she wanted a family and her happiness is more important.
as a fan I think we all just want her to be happy and she clearly was ready for a family. this current era is definitely better than the PBP era. ive always thought that Kelly's vocal problems are also tied to her weight. she never really had to be "skinny" like in her Idol days but a little thick during her tour with maroon 5 had some amazing vocal performances
I'm new to such topics, vocal terms or stuff and I am trying to learn. Your videos are very helpful to me. Thank you! Thank you for this video! Love you ❤
You need to stop spreading this. This guy is misleading people who want to learn something about vocal pedagogy. The term used in our videos - resonance- is not a term that refers to physics. We use resonance as term that describes optimal volume that a singer can achieve via healthy technique, that's all.
Demi- Yes, but I would probably expand this to the overall tension in her vocal tract, which underlies the vibrato issue as well. Christina- Agree. The B4 in Lift Me Up is high larynx, though. Her larynx is seldom stable. Most of the notes labeled as "breath support" weren't really supported but I'm assuming you mean general diaphragm engagement rather than supported singing. Ariana- Yes, all over the place too. Throat, tongue, you name it. Gaga- No, her head voice is underwhelming but it's not going to cause her problems. Her overly chesty mix and lack of proper mixing coordination above C5, however, will. Adele- Not sure what you mean by mixing, are you referring to her mixed register overall or her mixing ratio?? In any case, both would work as she is way too chesty and lacks support above A4. Ally- Agree. Jojo- Unless she overuse her whistle a lot this isn't an issue. Her mix is her issue, she is too chesty and often over-compresses her sound which blocks her resonance from blossoming fully. She can get quite tense when tired. Kelly- No, this is wrong. She isn't throaty, she lacks proper openness (often, not always) and overuses tension for drive. This is why we seldom hear her resonating above a C5 these days. Her belting above F5 is also a big issue, especially because she overuses it. Tori- Anything above C#5/D5 is a huge turn off. Poor placement, constricted sound, raised larynx, nasal, etc. Ailee- No, I must disagree. Sure, she is lacking above F5, but she doesn't go up there enough for it to be pressing. Far more serious is the fact that she refuses to balance her mix and fix her 5th octave vowels, which creates a whinny, constricted sound.
F. Aguilera trouble sustaining notes, passagio work, minor pitch problems when singing straight, belts above F5/ E5 recently, she needs to lighten her mix, over growling, head voice above C6, and the occasional throatiness, plus she could access more resonance and have it be ringing resonance. Beyoncé isn't actually nasal it's just her acidic tone
I'm just so proud of how much Ariana dand Demi improved. Ariana in her SWT was so much more healthier and Demi in general sounds way more trained etc. Im so rpoud of themmmmmm
I would disagree with Lady Gaga’s head voice and what you said about her mix. She had shown to do both very well in her jazz music. I think what you hear in her pop music with head voice is just a creative decision.
Gaga's head voice is not bad, but aside from her consistent support and sweet tone, it doesn't have any other remarkable quality to it, which is strange considering the caliber of her singing as a whole. It's not as developed as it should, though she's still improving. Polishing her head voice would benefit her mix because Gaga's belts often have a chest-dominant mix, she can possibly support higher in belting range if her head voice is fully trained. Additionally, I hope Gaga can experiment with her placement, I think she sounds better in upper belts with a lighter mix (compare the F5 in "Bang Bang" to the F5 in "Bad Romance"/"You've Got A Friend"). :)
Walter Velvet Gregson maybe your right. Personally I don’t see any problem with her head voice and I find it very beautiful but it’s a part of the voice I myself struggle with the most and know little about. Im gonna do some more research.
Now compare her head voice with JoJo and Beyonce.....and now compare with head voice of lesser skilled singers like Lana . Yup hear head voice is just ok.
Hogdion Hanna Sohyang, Low notes. She is a high Soprano y'all-. Also, her consistency begins from G3 and up, she has showed a lot of support down to E3 with neutral Larynx.
Gaven Bugia So Hyang's voice begins to soar at Eb5. It's the note she speaks on. It's almost an octave higher than a lot of singers. Makes it a lot harder for her to hit lower notes.
some people think Adele is overrated as a vocalist but i feel she needs to find confidence and expand her vocal range bc if you hear her live performances she has a lot of hidden vocal moments. IDK what do you think???
i wouldn't really say overrated but her voice is pretty common. good voice? sure. a skilled one? not that much or not at all lol. i personally enjoy other singers who were in the same level of technique with her but still display massive potential in other departments. like ariana, ig? in terms of melismas and others
Grey Fullbuster Wasn't Ariana trained prior to her debut era though? I feel that she would have been really good if she could maintain her technical skills from her early days (where she could resonate and sustain long notes easily).
ariana was trained. it's sad how she regressed a lot due to putting a character to her voice, or simply make a signature sound. same goes with aguilera and others who were naturally giften but wasn't able to reach their full potential because of "style"
Grey Fullbuster Yes like the others, Ariana has her flaws, but I really think that this enunciation thing, she does it on purpose. You'll see when she sings musicals, her voice change a little bit. It's like she adapts herself depending of what she sings. You maybe saw it, but if you didn't you can see her performance with Jason Robert Brown in a bar(I think) back in january 2016, especially "Getting out". Phenomenal.
i really want Gaga to use her head voice more, she’s supported A5s often in Applause and i think it could easily improve if she spent a little time on it, i think it sounds pretty
Another good video in your collection! Nice work. I'd argue that Jojo's main issue is her mixing, because her chestiness can lead to fatigue and therefore consistency issues, but her flaw is not significant enough to drastically affect the quality of her singing overall. The same can probably be said about Ailee, if she tries to use a heady mix, or perhaps just switch to a headier placement, she will get better above F5. I also feel that Gaga's head voice is slowly improving since C2C era; she now needs to work on her volume control and projection, then she'll have three excellent, connected registers. =)
Gaga is honestly so excellent. Out of all of them, she's the one who improved the most. Her Head voice during the Super Bowl national anthem was flawless and and well supported. Just give it a little time and i'm sure she'll be able to use it properly
her only "flaw" during the Superbowl was that she was a little shaky and out of breath at times. that just meant she was singing live while dancing! i adore that woman❤️
When you brought up Kelly, I felt my claws come out. I'm a total Kelly stan; a "Kellebrity", if you will. HOWEVER, after reading your analysis of her and then HEARING what you said, I see now why you brought it up, I can also hear some tension and a bit of strain in her higher registers, particularly around E5 and up,
Ailee doesn't sing with a high larynx, she is just bringing an excessive amount of weight up the scale which causes her to strain. Jojo is also too chesty for her own good which causes strain and fatigue.
I chose other flaws because they can support up to F5, which is great especially for Jojo, even with their chestiness. But I agree that they both should sing with a lighter mix, that's a serious issue. Ailee can support chesty upper belts unless she raises her larynx like in the Whenever You Call clip.
Christina Aguilera Fan The times that Ailee supports above F5 are because she is using a lighter approach to her mixing, not because of her larynx. You've created an issue where one doesn't truly lie. Meanwhile with Jojo, you are ignoring a more pressing issue while talking about her whistle register, which she doesn't really use for performances or songs. Not to mention that as the whistle register isn't the modal voice, it isn't as important to the voice. Also, the F#5 from Whenever You Call was really chesty but supported lol.
THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT ARIANA! I love her to death but I always wondered why she sounded nasally live and she seems to move her jaw a lot during runs. People never believe me though when I say she has not great technique.
Gaga could be a star rated vocalist her blows are excellent, she is excellent at belting, she has excellent near flawless technique, she has pretty good agility but she needs to showcase it more and she has a very powerful and beautiful tone. The only thing that holds her back is her head voice. She has so much potential in her head voice she has reached a C6 in head voice. I think she can go higher if she worked on it more and get more comfortable with using it. That being said she has improved a lot in her head voice.
Ari has improved a lot now and her jaw tension isn’t rlly an issue anymore her technique has improved and she has support upto A5 just look at any of the improvised A5’s in ntltc on the swt and her vevo performances from last year
I like your videos because you are one of the few people who don't ignore diaphragmal support even if there is some kind of tension present. Like for example, in Christina's case, most (if not all) of the notes you posted here had some kind of stress but the support was there. Most people here in TH-cam would automatically say they were unsupported though, while they're not completely lost. About the video, Lady Gaga has a nice head voice, besides some of her flaws because she seems to take less serious the singing when "performing" (being this while dancing or whatever) she has shown decent diaphragmal support up to G#5 which is fairly good by any standards. On the other hand, I would fix Adele's "mixing" for "belting" in that part, since she has shown supported phrased mixed notes up to I think B4, but her belting technique is that atrocious that she strains anything above A4. Oh and I wouldn't say Ally's D5 is supported by the way lol it was just brighter and less tense than the second one.
I really like the concept and quality of your video! It’s really frustrating cos literally every singer you mentioned here has SO MUCH potential and yet their vocal technique hindered them from improving. Once they all get pass this bottleneck they will all be true vocalists!
Great explanation, those issues can really damage their vocals. But I personally believe that those flaws makes our singers more unique, it puts character to their voices.
I think for the girls like Kelly & Tori... they cannot hit certain ranges... thats why they always sound straining to hit their own notes in their own songs. Many want that vocal ability that the Christina's, Gaga"s, and at some points the Ariana's. Its tough to follow those acts. But great video!
Support issues from ailee above F5 but she's trying to support notes correctly the problematic issue is high larynx and vowel tension because she's sings with aye or ee if she's try to fix it will less using of high larynx keep her upper belts HEALTHIER
Ariana's rendition of I Have Nothing has NO resonance at all. Heady belts that lack a lot of volume -- not strong enough. She has a nice girly tone and ease at mixing, but zero power.
She did sang it with volume, also she hold the mic like SOO FAR ,but it is true, you should look at when she was part of the 13 cast SHE SANG HER HEART OUT
You need to stop spreading this. This guy is misleading people who want to learn something about vocal pedagogy. The term used in our videos - resonance- is not a term that refers to physics. We use resonance as term that describes optimal volume that a singer can achieve via healthy technique, that's all.
I think Jojo’s biggest problem is her mix. She’s very chesty and needs to lighten her mix more and use more of a mask resonance instead of focusing her resonance through her nose making her more nasal than normal.
Totally agree with agree with most of this. But I did dig Demi's vibrato as an artistic choice - seemed like she was using it to differentiate between sections of a song or make a repeated section feel fresh
i second that. Shes killing it on "the singer" .I had so much respect for her ability before but she blew me away. Shes fearless and for me shes only getting better.
I'm pretty sure Kelly does that because she wants a raspier sound. Im a huge gaga fan but you're right. Still adore her voice and her improvement over the years. Thanks for the video.
I love a good music debate that goes beyond "Beyoncé/Britney/Mariah is the queen, everyone else sucks". Thanks for elevating the conversation with factual arguments and examples. I'll sub for that ❤
Kelly's problems started after her pregnancies but I believe she will get back on track cause she used to sing operatic style before and when she started singing pop rock she would always use upward tone placement which made it very natural and applied vibrato.
Thank you for this video!!! ❤️❤️ Your channel is so underrated, and you videos are so good 😊 I follow you from 🇫🇷 and I learned a lot with you, so thank you 🙏
I have never been able to stand adele's voice. She constantly just sounds like she's yelling. Nasally, scratchy yelling. Everyone raves about her but her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Because of this video, now I understand why!!! She's just straining the whole way thru.
Yeah you’re not wrong, listening to a lot her live performances all she does is strain and she’s not a very good technical vocalist. But she has a big lovely and unique tone that she can sometimes resonate, and it tends to make up for her terrible technique.
I think the reason why Lady Gaga doesn’t use her head voice as much is simply because she doesn’t need to and also for self preservation. She can last longer in the music industry with songs that don’t have the use of head voice than having to be able to hit high notes later down the line in 10, 20, 30+ years
My biggest problem with Ariana grande isn’t strain, but rather her tone. I actually think most of the time she’s mixing pretty well and giving a balanced chess/ head voice sound. Other female vocalist would have a much harder time hitting notes above an E5 and would probably sound a lot heavier and strained. Personally I just don’t find her tone interesting or special, Christina Pink Mariah all have very unique tonal qualities. Christina can go from a very pretty airy tone to powerful pop rock raspy vocals. Pink has a very bright yet powerful raspy tone. Mariahs voice is very unique in that it has this airy quality yet it’s very well supported and pretty. But I feel like Ariana voice is quite plain in terms of texture, sure she has a wide range but her vocals just don’t sound interesting to me.
i’m happy ariana improved lots this year. 2019 is her prime til she gets to her ACTUAL prime in her 30s. she’s: - less shouty - less nasal - less tension - less high larynx (starts at F5 but oh well) - improved falsetto - IMPROVED BELTS - ease equal to HMT - IMPROVED LOWS - improved head voice - WHISTLES - improved breath control - improved tone (subjective tho) - IMPROVED SUPPORT (she supports at least 1 C5 / C#5 every night) [not to mention, she’s been supporting the D5 in fake smile lately which is INSANE. lol HMT unsupported B4s can’t relate]
Thanks for the list, I really enjoyed it. While watching it I was wondering if, based on the criteria used for this video, there is someone you consider "perfect"? Just a curiosity, thought it would be fun to think about.
Great video (I especially liked the editing) and a nice variety of singers too! There were, however, quite a few errors. Ariana wasn't resonating on I Have Nothing, the examples you used for Xtinas supported notes weren't fully supported, one of JoJo's whistling clips was actually falsetto (which she rarely uses), etc. Still, overall a very good video! Subscribed.
Everyone knows that Gaga dosent use her head voice that much she isn't comfortable with it yet. Her strong points are her lower register her chest voice her mixing. Her belting technique and resonance.
Christina's flaws make her Christina; she's unique. Hahahaha. I hope you could do the same thing on promonent Filipino singers such as Sarah G, Jona/Jonalyn Viray, Regine V, Charice, Sheryn Regis, Klarisse, Kyla, Angeline, Morissette, Eumee Capile d Katrina Velarde.💓💓💓💓
Jonalyn and Morissette are the most proficient among them all - being able to support up to Eb5 belts. Jonalyn also can support her head voice up to C6, though her main problem is her low notes and laryngeal placement on her upper belts. Same with Morissette. Sarah barely supports her belts on 5th octave, she can't really put up a fight like Kyla - who strains and sounds thin most of the time. Regine - although being called "legends" by Filipinos, her belts are extremely strained ever since. All of her belts are throaty and unsupported. Just because you have a high tessitura doesn't mean you're the best.
Just like lady Gaga I have a problem in head voice but I am trying to sing Kick Ass(We Are Young) by Mika and Redone. I sound very bad, and I will never slay that. It’s such a shame I can’t sing my favorite song, cause it sucks.

@@KristinaLopezWrites but i'm talking about JoJo herself, wtf are you saying
Two words: Excellent job! :)
Two words: Thank you!:)
I love this video and your channel so much!!! Thank you for doing unbiased critics! ❤️
Thank you:)))) You know I love your channel as well and I always wait for your videos!
I LIVE FOR DEMIS C5 IN FOR YOU LITERALLY ONE OF THE BEST IVE EVER HEARD IF ONLY SHE COULD STOP WITH THE UNNATURAL VIBRATO😩😩😩😩😩
i'm so mad at ariana, SHE HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL. she has the potential to at least consistently support up to eb5 since that's when she starts to raise her larynx. but then she has tension that unables her to support those mid belts. but then for her upperbelts, they dont have very much tension but she raises her larynx which obviously blocks support. her and demi have the potential to save this generation if they just work on thier technique ;(
Justin Rodriguez like seriously i'm mad at them
+ perrie edwards
me too mann. i think they both may be improving? idk. w ariana, i think it's mainly the vocal coach's (eric vetro) fault for not teaching her that her tongue tension is causing serious issues with her vocals. im more mad at the coach, not ari! she or the coach needs to realize that she could be considered one of the best of this generation if she just worked on her tension sksksk
Its fine, Jojo, Morissette and Ailee are there
@Allaboutariana #bringbackbangs yesss she has
Lady Gaga sounds honestly great.
thank you for saying what you said about Kelly! as much as it sucks to admit your fav has some vocal flaws, it needs to be said. most of Kelly's throatiness came from after her pregnancies so it's been an adjustment to a lot of us. she's been getting better, but yes! thank you! also you are so right on these other singers too!
Thank you! I love your channel:)
Christina Aguilera Fan awe really?? thank you! i love yours too :)
agreed. love Kelly but her vocal flaws have been more pronounced since her pregnancies. she is slowly getting better but still not to the point of her, imo her best era vocally, late Stronger/Duets/Wrapped in Red era
Love you ❤
Toraayles I love when the post are more about vocal knowledge than focused completely on one person
ellise morales me too... I love it
You need to stop spreading this. This guy is misleading people who want to learn something about vocal pedagogy.
The term used in our videos - resonance- is not a term that refers to physics.
We use resonance as term that describes optimal volume that a singer can achieve via healthy technique, that's all.
Honestly I really do like Demi's vibrato as it's iconic but if it hurts her it's not worth it. Plus her open voice is gorgeous.
Kathryn Vincent
Agree, just because it’s not considered technically good doesn’t mean it sounds bad, I love it.
Kathryn Vincent how on earth do you consider Demi’s wobbly and very unstable vibrato to be “iconic”???
You're supposed to be chesty. Chest voice doesn't mean constriction
Do with Beyoncé, Jessie J, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion
*trying to find a flaw in beyoncé's vocals*
Gabriel Ximenes there are a couple of minor vocal flaws, I'd really wish she'd fix, but she hasn't. Overall Beyoncé's great
Celine Dion sounds like an auto-tune because the auto-tune tries to sound like her.
Gabriel Ximenes it's mainly that her growls can really push the line between singing and screaming
Mif M Sounds the same, also nobody cares about JoFlop.
do you know which song she was singing on 5:25 ?
Do a second part with Mariah, Celine, SoHyang and another singers please!!!
LinCebra LinCebra Mariah would be HV
Celine placement/throatiness and Sohyang low notes.😄
Mariah is mixing along with head voice...
Celine have trouble with nasality too...
Sohyang only placement in low notes...
Hogdion Hanna
Sohyang, Low notes. She is a high Soprano y'all-.
Also, her consistency begins from G3 and up, she has showed a lot of support down to E3 with neutral Larynx.
I think Beyoncé's upper belts are a bit chesty, i could be wrong though. And i think her support, although very wide, isn't a 100% most of the time.
Phenomenal.
Grey Fullbuster Adele has never trained tho. She’s never taken singing lessons at the Brit school she did A& R producing etc not singing.
i really want Gaga to use her head voice more, she’s supported A5s often in Applause and i think it could easily improve if she spent a little time on it, i think it sounds pretty
Yeah, Gaga is using headvoice a good bit more, she was very good at the One America appeal
GREAT video, but i’d like to add nasality to Adele. Nasality is everywhere from G#4 on, like EVERYWHERE. I think it’s as important as Adele’s mix
I agree:)
What's weird is that she has very nasal G's in the 4th octave but her A4's are actually very open and resonant
Taylor Swift has improved SO much over the past few years, technically and vocally.
I’ve never heard of Ailee in my life BUT DAMN IM IMPRESSED 😍 you go girl!!
Honestly,i had no idea demi could sing like that. Stunning!
holy shit! i was never a fan of demi’s voice but hearing those non-vibrato notes, i got goosebumps! if she fixes this problem i might listen to her
When you brought up Kelly, I felt my claws come out.
Jojo and Ailee both are too chesty, yes. Beside that, there's no really much big problem in their singing
Rizki Pawitra Jojo also has health issues though
Wow i just thought you meant Ally of 5H 😂😭
Ari has improved a lot now and her jaw tension isn’t rlly an issue anymore her technique has improved and she has support upto A5 just look at any of the improvised A5’s in ntltc on the swt and her vevo performances from last year
Demi C5 is so amazing
Thanks for this! Now, I know what not to do,educational. I think it's important to find your voice. That way you know what works for you.
Christina Aguilera ❤️😍 Her voice omg 🤩🤩🤩
Thank you for including Ailee! I hardly ever see her in these kinds of videos
About the video,
Lady Gaga has a nice head voice, besides some of her flaws because she seems to take less serious the singing when "performing" (being this while dancing or whatever) she has shown decent diaphragmal support up to G#5 which is fairly good by any standards.
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it:)
Adele's actually phrased mixed notes up to C#5. She has so much potential but seems to give zero fucks
I really like the concept and quality of your video! It’s really frustrating cos literally every singer you mentioned here has SO MUCH potential and yet their vocal technique hindered them from improving. Once they all get pass this bottleneck they will all be true vocalists!
Idk but I was hoping Sohyang will come up just like Ailee lol
her tounge is tensed many times in her upper belts and her pitch isn't accurate at all
@소여므김 she does lol that's one of her underrated and unnoticeable issue in mix
Great explanation, those issues can really damage their vocals. But I personally believe that those flaws makes our singers more unique, it puts character to their voices.
no?? Singing without good technique causes damage, not character
Finally someone highlights Kelly Clarkson, she's so underrated
i particularly love demi’s vibrato... just give me some emotions
I think for the girls like Kelly & Tori... they cannot hit certain ranges... thats why they always sound straining to hit their own notes in their own songs. Many want that vocal ability that the Christina's, Gaga"s, and at some points the Ariana's. Its tough to follow those acts. But great video!
Beyoncé: ***Flawless
Wait what!? Ailee's issue isn't a high larynx, but her pushing approach
That's like.... the same thing...
Support issues from ailee above F5 but she's trying to support notes correctly the problematic issue is high larynx and vowel tension because she's sings with aye or ee if she's try to fix it will less using of high larynx keep her upper belts HEALTHIER
@@micablade1089 no they mean forcing air out kind of pushing
Ariana's rendition of I Have Nothing has NO resonance at all. Heady belts that lack a lot of volume -- not strong enough. She has a nice girly tone and ease at mixing, but zero power.
F. A. She song that so well. Her belts were amazing. What are you talking about
She did sang it with volume, also she hold the mic like SOO FAR ,but it is true, you should look at when she was part of the 13 cast SHE SANG HER HEART OUT
She has a very naturally light voice, it's not her fault...
You need to stop spreading this. This guy is misleading people who want to learn something about vocal pedagogy.
The term used in our videos - resonance- is not a term that refers to physics.
We use resonance as term that describes optimal volume that a singer can achieve via healthy technique, that's all.
MoonlightVision yeah shes right. That guy isn't talking about vocal standard resonance.
I think Jojo’s biggest problem is her mix. She’s very chesty and needs to lighten her mix more and use more of a mask resonance instead of focusing her resonance through her nose making her more nasal than normal.
Ailee my baby
Totally agree with agree with most of this. But I did dig Demi's vibrato as an artistic choice - seemed like she was using it to differentiate between sections of a song or make a repeated section feel fresh
You did a wonderful job with this. I'm surprised it's taken me this long to find your channel. Keep up the great work.
I don't understand any of these. They all sound fantastic to me lol
i love that you used, not one, but two JoJo songs throughout this video. love that
I love his this video is done in a kind way some people get mad if you say there favorite singer has bad technique
I live for these videos. You did a wonderful job! You could have included Miley Cyrus too in my opinion but it's still fine :)
Thank you:) Maybe i'll make a part ll
Christina Aguilera Fan pleaseeeee include jesie j😭😭😭
i second that.
Kelly’s throatiness is more of a natural rasp she developed over the years and/or a stylistic choice
So Hyang: *BEING PERFECT*
Thank you for this video!!! ❤️❤️ Your channel is so underrated, and you videos are so good 😊 I follow you from 🇫🇷 and I learned a lot with you, so thank you 🙏
i love how this video isn’t biased. good video & analysis. 🖤
Ariana's jaw tension comes from jutting her jaw forward to muscle through transitions.
Demi has been battling addiction for awhile too. So that could be a contribution to it.
OMG!! I LOVE THIS!! Please make a second part with more singers 😍😍😍
I don't know to many technical terms when it comes to singing, but thanks for the visuals and explaining what they're doing wrong descriptively
Judging from this video I would love to hear the maker of this video sing since they have such a great ear.
So hyang's vocal flaw:
None sis, why do you think she isnt in this video?? Aint nobody gon' forget about her
Underdeveloped lower register, lack of vocal textures.
Xtina might have a lot of vocal flaws but she truly shines because she has that voice that no other divas have. One and only.
I think that if everyone had perfect technique the music industry wouldn’t have as much of a diverse sound. I love this video so much by the way
Demi's vibrato improved a lot this year. Proud of her
i’m happy ariana improved lots this year. 2019 is her prime til she gets to her ACTUAL prime in her 30s.
she’s:
- less shouty
- less nasal
- less tension
- less high larynx (starts at F5 but oh well) - improved falsetto
- IMPROVED BELTS
- ease equal to HMT
- IMPROVED LOWS
- improved head voice
- WHISTLES
- improved breath control
- improved tone (subjective tho)
- IMPROVED SUPPORT (she supports at least 1 C5 / C#5 every night) [not to mention, she’s been supporting the D5 in fake smile lately which is INSANE. lol HMT unsupported B4s can’t relate]
I REALLY LOVED AILEE SO PROFESSIONAL SINGER REALLY LOVED HER VOICE
Didn’t see Beyoncé so yes my fave is still perfect.
How many times was tori gonna tell us not to worry??
props to gaga to using her head voice way more, especially for A Star Is Born
Thanks for the list, I really enjoyed it. While watching it I was wondering if, based on the criteria used for this video, there is someone you consider "perfect"? Just a curiosity, thought it would be fun to think about.
Guyz what is the name of the song in the outro...i need it...!!
Ailee is such a queen ♥️
I love how Ailee is included
Great video (I especially liked the editing) and a nice variety of singers too! There were, however, quite a few errors. Ariana wasn't resonating on I Have Nothing, the examples you used for Xtinas supported notes weren't fully supported, one of JoJo's whistling clips was actually falsetto (which she rarely uses), etc. Still, overall a very good video! Subscribed.
Everyone knows that Gaga dosent use her head voice that much she isn't comfortable with it yet. Her strong points are her lower register her chest voice her mixing. Her belting technique and resonance.
intro song?
I want you to be my vocal coach. It just seems like you know what you’re talking about
Christina's flaws make her Christina; she's unique.
Cara Mel That will be unfair to other countries...
When will there be a male version of this? And if so can you add Gerard Way to the list?
When your fav isn't even here cause she is flawless😍 queen bey
Love this ! I hope that you will do a second part I really enjoyed it :)
Their flaws make them unique. If they have perfect techniques then they would all sound too perfect and maybe they'll all sound similar.
Just like lady Gaga I have a problem in head voice but I am trying to sing Kick Ass(We Are Young) by Mika and Redone. I sound very bad, and I will never slay that. It’s such a shame I can’t sing my favorite song, cause it sucks.
