For anyone thinking about the Logi Combo Touch, especially for the larger 12.9” iPad Pro, within a single year the one I purchased has become stretched and loose around the speakers (where the material is thinner by design) and one corner - top left where the 3 primary control buttons are located.
This means I need to slip the corner onto the case before switching on or off or changing the volume using the case buttons. This is quite annoying but, OK, defo a 1st-world problem. Sadly it also reduces the protection levels of the case significantly, one of the reasons I went for this in the first place. I’m aware there are alternatives to using the case buttons but I am disappointed with the overall lack of quality and resilience of the case.
This is almost certainly less of an issue with smaller cases for the smaller iPad Pro but should be considered as a factor when buying for the 12.9”. Otherwise it’s a good case/keyboard combo for my use-case in most other aspects.

they actually fixed it, I had gotten 4 replacements from Logitech with the same results then they said I wasn't eligible for any more replacements. so I called back and got a different person and they sent me another and I've not had any issues. even after removing my iPad multiple times. it holds its shape. I did end up getting a Magic Keyboard from amazon it was renewed $130, its great for using it on a desk or your lap but the Logitech is more versatile, has more function keys, and more angles

On the Logitech keyboard, if you remove and re-attach the keyboard backwards, you can then fold it back on itself. This trick also provides a more stable surface to prop the stand on when using narrow airplane seat back trays.

I used the combo touch and the Magic Keyboard. I felt the combo touch gave my iPad better protection for portability and you can flip the keyboard around and hook it to the back of the iPad in tablet mode. Magic Keyboard was a little heavy to be portable but great for a desk set up for computer replacement.

I have both the Magic Keyboard and Combo Touch for my iPad Air. My significant other ended up getting the same iPad, so I gave the Logitech one to her and she quite likes it, while I’m in line with you on the lapability aspect. I use my iPad to type a lot more than she does, so I prefer the lapability of the Magic Keyboard while she prefers the ability to detect the keyboard when she doesn’t need it and still have a protective case. Works out pretty well.

Interesting video! I went the opposite way with my M1 iPad Pro 12.9”. My Logitech Combo Touch keyboard (not the folio), a lot of the keys wore down and the letters were missing. The sides formed loops around the buttons and were bending away. Finally, as the keys were getting unresponsive and no longer were working in some instances. I had to angle it a certain way (re-discoverable every circumstance) for it to work. So now I have a brand new Apple Magic Keyboard! I’m loving it! I wish I had got it the same time when the iPad Pro was brand new, but I did love my Logitech Combo Touch keyboard while it was working. I don’t miss the function keys by the way. I think the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard is actually heavier than the Apple Magic Keyboard.

I’m on my second Logitech keyboard. I loved the slim combo that I use(d) on my iPad 2nd gen & it didn’t weigh nearly as much as my current Combo touch but the slim wasn’t available for the iPad M2 Pro. It sticks out a lot more than the slim combo which could fold back on itself. I never type on my lap so that’s not an issue for me. I DO use the extra function keys though & they’re invaluable. I can easily turn the iPad on & off, mute & adjust volume. It has backlit keys & some other functions that I haven’t explored as I haven’t needed them. My husband has the Apple Smart Keyboard & likes it for his iPad Air 2020.

I’m an architecture student. I have a dedicated ‘work horse’ ASUS laptop for CAD and renders. It was KILLING my back tho, especially on days where I only have discussion-based classes that only require note-taking, maybe some sketching, and PowerPoint presentations. I bought an iPad Air to handle those “lighter” tasks for which the ASUS is just overkill. I’m gonna go with the Magic Keyboard only because I commute to school and stay typing up papers on the train. That lapability aspect is major for me

Ok, so the Smart Folio came in and I was excited. But after a few weeks, I’m going back to the Magic Keyboard. The TRACKPAD, PASS-THROUGH charging, FEEL OF THE KEYS & the ELEGANT LOOK of the damn thing makes it perfect for me. But your video made me try the Folio and so I’m going to keep it-when I want to go LIGHTER and still have most of the functionality of the Magic Keyboard, with the option to fold it back for writing with the Apple Pencil, I’ll just put the iPad in the Folio. Thanks again, sir!

I'm using the M1 iPad Pro for my main tablet and using with the smart keyboard folio. However these days I'm thinking again to change to the magic keyboard or just use the smart keyboard folio. Because of the magic keyboard's better durability.
Few weeks ago I slipped down at a slippery stairs. At the same time I was wearing a backpack inside there was my M1 iPad Pro with the smart keyboard folio attached. Unfortunately that made my M1 iPad Pro bent in a curve shape. Thankfully the screen was fine so I mostly bend in back to it's original shape, however it makes me think "Should I go back to the magic keyboard? Even though it will be more heavy and has a poor versatility". Also sometimes I miss the magic keyboard's cool features
like the trackpad and a second USB-C port.
Personally I take my iPad Pro in a backpack and use it outside very often.
I use my M1 iPad Pro for luma fusion video editing, draw with the Apple Pencil using Procreate app a little bit, watch TH-cam everyday and play Genshin Impact game very often.
So that's why I'm having a hard time thinking about changing my iPad Pro's keyboard or not.

I have the Logitech Combo Touch. Very good to type on, and I can detach it when I want to use it in tablet mode. The problem is, after a long period of time, the rubber protection around the iPad started to peeled off. It becomes difficult to attach the keyboard because the peeled rubber gets in the way. And also, I lost my apple pencil because the peeled rubber case “pushed” my Apple pencil from the iPad.

I've been using the Combo Touch for years and I can't imagine using any other keyboard. However, I've seen many great Magic Keyboard alternatives for way less than $350.00 and I'm always tempted to buy one but having an unprotected iPad is a no-go.

I like just holding the iPad Pro with no case, i like the logi, but dont like having the case on it all the time. I have a M2 iPad Pro 11”, and found a magic keyboard with leather Dbrand Skin on it on facebook for $100 and i love it, only thing it needs is funtion keys, which may come in the next gen update. I DO hate the material the magic keyboard is made of, it always feels dirty/gritty. So i was so happy when i found the one on Facebook with skin

fourth option: use the separate magic keyboard and a really good case.
i find the smart keyboar folio tiring to type. You really need to depress the keys and there is resistance. i have pain issues and my hands will be throbbing.
Then with the 9th gen ipad there is the rugged model that is easier to type. btw- the smart folio can be flipped upside down for a third angle for sketching.
if anyone experiences delayed key typing causing letters to be missed on any ieyboard, you need to take off "sticky keys" and "slow keys" in accessibility features i think. a recent update seemed to turn on all these settings.
magic key board has no ipad protection for the tablet alone which is a deal breaker. magic keyboard typing is not as good as the imac magic keyboard that can be used if you choose "forget device" on your imac. An extra step for the top typing experience; otherwise you need to buy another case to use the tablet by itself. i find it easier to even use the screen keyboard in a pinch and like having my pen always attached and ready. i use the bogo case? or bugu? something like that.
winner for me: logitech combo touch that feels the most premium, or carrying your keyboard with you from the imac in a sleeve and mostly using just a plain keyboard. i cringe to spend $300 for a keyboard though.

    • @Vargas_Shezar
      @Vargas_Shezar หลายเดือนก่อน

what case are you using currently?
I had the apple folio for a long time and can agree. It's tiering to type on that. It's only good if you use it as a slim and light "case" out of which you can just grap your iPad from and only occasionally type on it. Also it's "dirt proof" since it has no openings. So when you are eating and watching something or using it to look up recipe while in the kitchen you don't have to worry about cleaning the keyboard after.
I had a meeting a few days ago and I just used a cheap case from amazon for the iPad and a magic keyboard I had from when I switched to one with touch ID. worked great. But you always need 2 things - the iPad in it's case and the keyboard in it's case or bag, also you have to charge the iPad and the keyboard, so there is a chance that you arrive at a meeting and your keyboard is out of juice. With the Logitech or Apple solution you have all in one.
I am currently testing the Logitech combo and it's okay, but it was 160 Euro. It's great for typing if you have a large surface like a table. If you are for example in bed you need a large tray to be able to fit the tablet and the keyboard.

Great review thanks and it cleared up some points for me, but not all. I have the 12.9 M2 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and the keyboard has some annoying drawbacks: No media keys is annoying (fumbling to turn down the volume is frustrating, likewise fast forward, etc); the Shift key on the keyboard I bought in Australia is not like the one in your video. It is only threequarter size to allow for the squeezing in of a tilde key. This is very annoying if you 10-finger type because your weakest finger (the smallest one on your left hand) easily mis-hits the key and you end up with a tilde or reverse single quote mark instead of a capital). Also, the Caps Lock key has to be hit in EXACTLY the right spot or it doesn't turn on/off. And one of the worst things for me is that the keyboard backlight only comes on when you are typing in very dark overhead light. This makes it pretty useless for anyone who doesn't spend a lot of time on an aeroplane when they have turned the cabin lights off. (I had a cheap Zagg Folio (?) keyboard on a previous iPad and you could turn the lights on/off at will. I realise that backlights are a power problem but the Zagg had two CR2032 button batteries that gave the keyboard power.) The Smart Keyboard Folio loses out for me because of no trackpad or media keys. And the Logitech Combo Touch loses out because of the 'lapability' problem and, I presume, the backlight keyboard problem -- unless there IS some way of turning it on and off at will. Does anyone know the answer to this? Many thanks.

I wish someone would design a thin keyboard like the Smart Keyboard Folio but incorporate a function key row (even if nothing more than the typical blue “fn” key in conjunction with the number keys at top, still lots of legacy systems that use these for IT Professionals) and a track pad. How would a track pad possibly be implemented in such a folio case? A fold over cover flap clasp (not sure that the correct name). But whatever the flap is called, it would fold over and attach to the back magnetically when “closed”, also protecting the expensive Apple Pencil from accidentally getting lost (just lost my 3rd one! Freaking annoying!). When in open/keyboard mode, the fold over flap now in open mode lays flat on the desk in front of the keyboard providing a place to rest your wrists w touch trackpad in between! The design could be adjusted to be wide enough for wrist area or just enough to provide area for the trackpad (tho I’d prefer full width of the case for wrist rests & comfort). The engineering challenge would be to ensure the flap lays perfectly flat when in open/keyboard mode *and* that the connector/ribbon cable hidden inside the flap is robust enough to not develop shorts after years of the flap being folded over the pencil area of the iPad whether a pencil is present or not. There could also be very small rubber “guides” that the flap fits between when folded over, which act as non-slip feet and a very slight elevator when the case is fully open! The back would also be designed to allow mag safe charging if truly incl in next iPads! Claiming my idea if such a thing is possible! ;-)

I've been using the Logitech Combo Touch for about 4 months now. The main issue I have with it is that when you write on the screen with the Apple Pencil, the screen ripples. It makes me worry that it's damaging the screen but when I reached out the company, they said it was fine... I even got a replacement to see if it was a fluke and I had the same issue with the replacement. I'm debating just getting the Magic Keyboard because of it...

I have a question about the track pad. On all my laptops, I disable the track pad and use a mouse, as my hands hit the track pad when typing and it causes problems. Can you disable the track pad? Can you use a Bluetooth mouse with the iPad? I have an older generation 2 iPad (very old). All I do with it is watch movies or videos when I travel, along with answering some emails. I use a Brydge keyboard now, but it tends to drop a few characters when typing.

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

There is not a disable tracking feature, but you could go with the Keyboard folio that doesn’t have a trackpad, and connect a Bluetooth mouse! The folio won’t work with the iPad 2 unfortunately, but you could go with an iPad Air

I have found tht the folio has a limited lifespan. The reduced weight comes with a reduction in the quality of the build. The big problem is that because detaching/reattaching the keyboard over time was hard on the connection eventually causing the keyboard to fail. Went through a couple keyboards over the period I used it. Love the magic keyboard in spite of the price.

@@beardfm It wasn't taking it out of the case but rather removing the keyboard. Unlike you it felt weird to keep the keyboard attached when I was using it as a tablet. Over time I found that connection to wear to the point where the keyboard function was impaired.
