  • hello everyone thanks for tuning in and coming along for the ride. in this episode I manage to get back on my permission for a few hours metal detecting and I have a few nice finds before the rain sets in for the day.
I will be doing the giveaway just into the new year as I will be very busy over the next few weeks.

Best wishes to the Duck Stroker family! I came up with an idea for the beaches.....why not have a lightweight spade with holes in it, so you just dig and then shake, rather than putting it into the metal sieve and shaking? It would save carrying the sieve, as the spade is also the sieve?

Some YT detectorists seem to pull out Cartwheels all of the time but like you I find them few and far between. I'm on six now and four of them I've found on one field. Unsurprisingly I call it my Cartwheel Field.
    I love a 52 on the Legend when I'm on there 😁

Yeah nor quite sure how some do it I guess they must just have the right history and passed activity on there land. Four on one field I'll class that as a hord 😆. Yeah you can't pass them high numbers by. Thanks for watching dude

They was only around for a couple of years for a couple of reasons one people complained about the size the other the there was more copper in the coin then the coin was worth.

I got a Yitahome detector as it was the cheapest i could get that seemed to be able to do the simple task of finding coins. The question i have is this 'Have you ever detected in heather/heath?'. The reason is this....i was talking to someone who told me that when a road was being built 4 decades ago when he was a teenager, one night they saw a Roman soldier marching near them, they ran away, the next day they saw that is a pond where he was, so definitely a recording of a ghost triggered by the roadworks. It is known the Romans had a fort not too far away, but digging there will get me into trouble, but digging on the heath miles away will be fine. So that is one of my plans but i cant remember seeing you do heather covered places, so i thought i would ask, and i know you and your friend like stories like that.

Congratulations on your first detector. Yeah couple of reasons I've never done heathland first it tends to be to overgrown so you can't get a good swing the second I don't fancy getting shot by the game keeper about 99% of open moorland are owned by companies for shooting, national trust or other conservation bodies. And if its peaty I would have thought anything would have sunk well out of range anyway. Also be careful of digging near historic sites if its a listed area you'll find yourself in a very small room for a number of years

Thanks for your advice, i do appreciate it. It was just we have all heard of stories that lead to a buried fortune and i was hoping to get one. When there are more years behind you than ahead of you, you have to take risks. But thank you again.

The pulley is probobly from an old roller blind, nice to find a cartwheel even if it is worn.

At 21m50s you estimated the penny to be 1901-1935 now that is very recent as its 7.01pm to 7.35pm amazing how you know the hour it was made.

What do you think would be the best metal detector to buy for mainly just beaches looking for £1 £2 coins to pay the bills and hoping for the bag of gold coins? I have seen some for circa £150 but others for £750 and higher and so the question is this, if a £150 detector does the job, why are people paying so much more? Could you recommend the cheapest but best one for me please?

You have to get a machine that can cope with the salt and minerals if I was to go for a budget detector I'd look at the minelab vanquish or terra have a look on ebay you'll probably find one a bit cheaper that's hardly been used. As for you second question. Yes a cheaper detector will find you stuff the more expensive ones just give you a better idea of what that stuff is before you dig it once you have taken the time to get to know that machine inside out. So my advise would be dig everything until you have a pretty good idea of what the target is. A good way is to plant a few common items in the group pass the coil over and note the sound and numbers do it over and over. Hope this helps

I have watched 3 videos of people metal detecting on Northumberland beaches and i very quickly realized your skills of filming and editing, as their videos were horrible to watch. The camera was shaking, they would film things that were not interesting and they just did not seem to have a clue about editing out boring bits etc, and so basically they shouldnt even bother doing videos.
