The same principle applies to milling half the deck: if by chance you happen to miss all combo pieces which is not super unlikely at all if it's only 2-3 you're helping them; you accelerate the pace by which they draw the combo pieces in that case. So on the net balance void contract isn't even that good against combo decks: but let's assume overall it does improve your chances of winning: the catch is that you're playing a 8 mana spell that could increase your chances but could also decrease them. Add to that that you are milling your own deck which is always bad for you because you don't run a combo deck it's really not that great a card even against combo decks when you think about it. Even if you didn't help them if you failed the mill the combo pieces by duplicating the remaining cards in their deck it's stil 8 mana and half your deck you pay for a _chance_ to be break the combo.

I just made this deck and within the first 3 games ive made 2 paladins and a priest concede. might not be most op deck but it sure is amusing. the best part is they dont concede right away, they still have a small hope that their combo wasn't destroyed and then after drawing their last card their hopes are destroyed

If you just happen to draw badly and not win before mid to late game, Void Contract can destroy some faster combo decks giving you more time to stabilize the board and win. But yeah. There's currently not many decks that can utilize it. Control/combo decks risk discarding value cards if they run it, thus aggro is the only viable candidate deck because it has nothing to lose. The card is one big omega lol to combo decks but no deck (currently) can play it without severe consequinces. Edit: I could see it in tournaments.
Can a less dedicated combo breaker package (or just tech card) be made to slip into a different deck? Can Warlock somehow exploit the milling for a win condition (I doubt it since I don't know of any mill cards in Warlock or much adding stuff to their deck, but a lot of draw)? Perhaps some plan B that can turn dead spells into something of value? It seems like silence would have been useful in some of those games. It's probably an unsalvageable concept, but there are other avenues of research that might warrant brief consideration.

It can. Warlocks have run anti-combo tech on occasion, like Demonic Project + Sacrificial Pact. The difference is that normally you start with a solid deck first, and then you try to find room for the tech options. You don't build your entire deck around being a tech option, otherwise you end up with a deck that has no viable plan for winning even if it succeeds at its objective.
Hmm why not just add mecha-thun to this decklist? You destroy your deck anyway and this could be an alternativ win condition. Well, only if you don't burn it obviously, but thats the same with bloodreaver gul dan aswell right? :)
I have to ask. What exactly is the win condition in a deck like this. While I get this is 'suppose' to kill combo decks with Void Contract and Demonic Project, but I don't really see any real end game to the deck other then some value cards (like Giants and Warlock DK) that you are just as likely to burn with Void Contract?
Does The card count towards discard quest I wonder? Because then you would be able to run The quest and that 8 drop card only. Also you can cast it on turn 2 with bloodbloom

I think the void contract would work better in a midrange deck or something along those lines to get a chance at winning against combo decks because it destroys half of each players deck so in a faster deck this card would be better as you would lose less cards than the opponent.
So as this should demonstrate, despite the tech cards that have been added to the meta to deal with combos, the framework of most combo-decks allow them to still be entirely competitive without their combo-parts against sub-T1 decks.
Can't run the banker glinda combo because you will just destroy it yourself when you play void contract. Maybe just two bankers along with the two gnomeferatu to give yourself the edge when it comes to fatigue.

I remember using my howlfiend defile treachery deck last expansion vs a reserect priest, discarding 12 cards including two spell stones and Maly, then still losing. Won all of the other matchups though.

The reason we find preserved teeth is because they eventually find their way into sediment and stuff which is a much more stable environment than water with it's constant movement of molecules. If you think that's not the case I'd love to hear your reasoning.
Now I feel a bit better seeing opponents draw all the right cards, seems they also do against you. Yesterday played back to back against secret hunters and both had both spellstones available instantly for double 4 wolfies.
I play a lot of control warlock and I think a Rin is much better, gives you value to beat certain matchups and defends your face and demonic project gives you a decent chance to be able to beat combo decks. Even just one is usually good enough the second one could be changed for a defensive option like a shriek, plated beetle or even dark pact which makes Rin better against silence. Void contract is honestly pretty bad and redundant. Just waiting for the right time and reading your opponent to help guide your demonic project also makes it much more fun than void contracting and hoping you hit a 50/50.
It's funny how I quit HS 3 or 4 year ago because I got fed up with RNG. Moved to HotS which had esport scene axed and number of developers shifted to other projects. I just uninstalled Bnet because there's nothing there that currently interests me. Yet I'm here, watching Trump playing a fucking HS. EcksDee
Take out the Demonic Projects (they were terrible), add in some silence effects (if he had silenced the Undertaker he would have still won), and add in some neutral cards that add cards to your deck and more taunt minions with big butts, then play the fatigue gameplan.
Im running void contract and 2 gnomeferatu in my even lock deck and have won 64% of my games from rank 14 to 8 so I would recommend that over this. Trump seems to love the skull of manari way to much to not use it just like in his discard deck

I think a deck like this needs to focus on higher card quality not synergy as you know you plan to lose a lot of your deck. Cards like Skull seem bad here. It's more like playing control warrior than warlock, you know it's going to fatigue so each card needs to either be removal or high value.
That first game was really unlucky to not mill any spellstones and have him shadow visions into more spellstones. In short: Bad deck, because luck sucks.

The deck needs more value twisting nether, a banker Rin , glinda, those are all cards the deck could add. Elise is not enough value.
