- Today I do a reaction to a Thinking Basketball video called A detailed look at Kobe Bryant's on-court impact | Greatest Peaks Ep. 10. Head over to their channel and shoot a like and subscribe, he's great! Link is below:
• A detailed look at Kob...
Kobe's package was so much more versatile on both ends than the supposed versatility of today's NBA players. Perhpas his peak was during the mid-2000, but he was already above 99% of the league during 1st 3-peat and able to be league's scoring leader if there wasn't Shaq with him.
Agreed. These new guys can shoot but kobe scored no matter how or what the situation is
Kobe's tough shot making is an art form. I remember when they were comparing James Harden's scoring ability to Bryant's a few year back, I thought it was crazy. It's amazing how quickly people forget things.
Oh man Kobe all day. Harden scores in exploits to the rules. Kobe made it happen no matter what the rules are and who is guarding him. True scorers find a way
@@TheRealMindCrimeHarden is a great scorer even if you remove his double/triple stepback and freethrow baiting, but he's nowhere close to Kobe without those
0 to 3 dribbles max. Man i miss kobe. I literally cried when he passed. I watched his entire career and his play was the only thing me and my pops talked about for years. He kept us in communication through his passion. Thats what u do with a god given gift. Its for the world, not you. I pray i can have a fraction of the impact he had on the world.
I did too man. I'll always remember that day. It broke my heart. Then I found out about Gigi and I just couldn't.....RIP you two. Hope you're still together
2003 kobe definitely had a quick first step and athleticism to rival prime mj
Yeah during that time he was really out there to prove himself individually. And he did exactly that lol
He had that 1st step i watched it live. After 2007, he didn't have that anymore. That's 10 seasons in
By 07 his footwork was so good he could get shots off no problem even without his first step
@TheRealMindCrime yup
I love watching this video again, again love the 23rd & 24th concept. I feel for you being a Suns fan covering MJ & Kobe, I know those clips gotta hurt to re-live lol. Kobe specifically killed them a lot lol
Lol thats just sports i guess. I love mj and kobe so much but they both torched my suns haha. Its part of what makes them great. We had the better teams but they didn't give a damn lol
Would’ve been nice to see him show number eight Kobe
Kobe is MJ minus the generational level of athleticism and slighter frame.
He also possesses are poorer shot selection and MJ is the superior defender.
Kobe has a superior offensive repertoire or “bag” and arguably the deepest ever. Offensive utility belt.
Bean was a gladiator in a way most outside maybe MJ were not.
Willingly to DIE on the court.
Won titles with injuries half the HOF would sit out for the season.
Watching Kobe ascend was essentially the truest passing of the torch in the last 30 years in sport history.
It was like the rise of DMX, 50 Cent or Eminem after PAC.
Like seeing Kareem emerge next to Wilt.
Truly a gift.
I think GiGi would’ve been even better. RIP.
That was poetry. Well said 👏
Very well said. Basketball poetry. I watched Kobe's entire career. He actually helped me and my dad have something to talk about for 20 years. RIP bean. I still have my jersey from 2003 😂. Saw hime play 4 times in New Orleans and he never missed a game for bs. Legend.
And without the magic hands...when I watch MJ, it looks like nothing dictates the way he goes about his game more than his hands.
@@--ArcAngel-- that was one of the biggest differences. MJ could just grab the ball off the floor and go, or stop. People who play or know the game intimately understand the difference that makes. Part of why Rondo will be a HOF player.
@@--ArcAngel-- Kobe literally trained his hands to be able to. I have too that’s how I know with enough training you build up dexterity in your hands and can palm the ball
The degree of difficulty shots maker handsdown KOBE #1. The league give 2 MVP to Steve Nash!!! Those MVP should belong to KOBE.. The media hate Kobe all his voting 🗳️ against him during his prime careers…
I give Kobe 06 but 05 belonged to Nash. He took our 30 win team or so and just him alone bumped us to the 60s and we were a title contender. But 06 Kobe deserves it hands down
Robbed even more than that imho
Awww a tribute to kobe, nice.......❤
Mamba day!
KOBE!
Mamba!
It's crazy that on the 26th it will be 5 years since Kobe's passing. Maybe you could react to MJ talking at his memorial for that or something.
Dang....thats a good idea.
It's crazy because one thing I noticed about kobe from #8 to #24 was that his first step was alot quicker when he was 24 than he was 8 it's weird.
He must've recognized that was a weakness of his and worked on it endlessly knowing him lol
He had the greatest peak from a pure basketball player in NBA history.
My favorite player of all time,
Thats a good pick. Guy had skillz and even more heart
Your channel is great for people with insomnia
I'm glad. I too have insomnia lol
Kobe very high skill level he had small hands for his size yet could keep great control of the ball.
17:39 At least you still have a team to get frustrated in. My Sonics are forever gone, and no the Thunder are not the Sonics. That’s why when OKC wanted to retire Payton’s jersey he said, “No, I was never part of the Thunder.”
A really great documentary about the Sonics leaving is called “Sonicgate” it talks about how Washington’s former Governor and a former Senator tried stepping in to stop it, how Clay lied to a former owner before the sell, and former NBA players who were still playing at the time who grew up in Seattle.
Ahhh man that sucks. I hear a lot of talk about Seattle having a new team and it being the Sonics again. I hope so cuz the Sonics were always a fun team
@ I hope so, but part of the sale to Clay Bennett included the Sonics name and the O’Brian Trophy.
What else can we say about Kobe that he is a very close second to MJ.
I think if he was more mature in his thinking and understanding that he could still be himself but that he needs to trust the coach and teammates as soon O’Neil left I’m sure he could have at least tie with MJ with rings
Young Kobe did pass! he did do that ! He and Shaq were dubbed the “combo” meaning they passed to each other when either was shut down. Kobe was 20-21 years old then
Happy 24th!
The one and only who came close to MJ.
Che la tua anima riposi in pace kobe, qualunque cosa diranno i tuoi haters, i fatti dimostreranno il contrario!
❤️
Grand rising my friend, it's Kobe day, let the show begin, sir cry baby fan are hating on you for not dedicating a day for him, over here we dont celebrate loosing and flopping, have a great day bro
Lol they can cry all they want. Good morning and Happy Kobe Day!
@@sylvesterallen3932 crazy how 5 rings is a winner but 4 rings is a loser. Especially how if the refs didn't rig 2002 Kobe would have 4 rings too
@@BasketballHighway19 crazy how people make super team, to win and call themselves the greatest, while saying another player 3 rings means nothing because they play along side a great player, it's funny right???
@@sylvesterallen3932 no way lebron said that last thing you're talking about. Also let's not act like Kobe wouldn't have left the Lakers if they didn't get pau gasol. And he didn't have to chase it but those 04 Lakers were getting called a superteam except they didn't win for some reason. I wonder why
96-2002 Kobe used more of nasty dunks, fade aways, spin moves.
03- retirement, he used post, 3s, dunks, left hand shots, pump fakes for fade aways, off the ball shots.
☝️
Can you do mj next my guy love to see that?!
Will do. I reacted to one of these focused on MJs playoffs yesterday but I'll always do more jordan stuff lol
Kobes peak was 01- 11
Agreed
Kobe was the best but at least he didn’t drop 81 on the suns like he did to my raptors lol
😆 🤣 😂 true true. At least you guys got a championship though. But that 81 olives will never be forgotten.
"Why is it always Phoenix?" - I'm sure there's some 3, 6, 9 explanation for it!
Hahahaha that music is still in my head man
For real, you have said that's why do the clips always seem to be against your Suns?😂😅
I'm cursed! 👻
Oh you KNOW im on this lmao
Happy 24th!
@@TheRealMindCrime yup u 2 dude. im struggling on what to call u when addressing u in the comments 😅
When u humble yourself and ask for help from god… and u twist it into your own u can thank Jordan introducing u to the talent the most high gave Jordan n Jordan thought Kobe was worthy to have it.
12:40 wtf dude how. He was so good 😂
Lol yeah Kobe was crazy man
Man I think they are just trolling you at this point with your Suns getting whooped lol. For what it's worth every Kobe video seems to show the 2010 finals against my Celtics where he killed us in 5 minutes to rip away the second title so take some comfort in that lol
True but at least your celtics gave mj the business in the 80s and beat kobe once in the finals too. Plus dont you guys have like 8000 championships out there compared to our 0? Lol
@@TheRealMindCrime Yes but I hear "ring culture" is Toxic now so...lol
Bruh that gravity at the 25 min mark perfectly sums up how trash that 2006 lakers team was!
Exactly!
The Man was a beast. Near top 10 player all time. Better at every facet of the game than LeChoke.
Kobe is the GOAT , Jordan is the hoop GOD ..lebron is a not even worthy to compare.
Well said
It was Smush Parker under the rim... that wasn't an option 25:30 ish mark
Ahhhh
@TheRealMindCrime appreciate your videos brother!
My favorite player from any sport, ever. He's controversial, but that's only because people didn't want to like him. Imagine overcoming unearned hate to be an all-time great and a beloved athelete. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN. Only Kobe and the black athletes from the Jim Crowe era.
Sorry man, but the hate was pretty well earned . I don't like him, but I can recognize his greatness on the court.
@earthisasphere
I guess we have a different threshold for hating people then.
@ I don't know, making unfounded allegations against a teammate about hush money, especially when Kobe had his own sexual indiscretions, is pretty low...
@earthisasphere
That is low, but idk if it would make me hate someone. But I definitely would find them unpalatable for a bit.
But some people act as though Kobe was a villain who went out of his way to be a terrible person. He didn't disrespect the game or his family or people. He didn't support some insane ideology. Some people believe he committed a crime, and some think he only committed infidelity (which is still very wrong, by the way). But I don't know if any of that makes me hate someone.
To me, I would hate someone if they were continually a person of ill-behavior who treated people poorly. I don't know if Kobe was that type of man or not. If he was, then he deserved the hate he got.
@@Black_Guy Fair enough. Mabey hate was too strong of a word.
Its cool u got to watch Kobe give it to your SUNS in person. Why watch it for free when u can pay for it in person 😂😂😂😂😂
Lamar Odom is supposedly back with Khloe K
I'm never watching jordan or kobe vids ever again man 😆 🤣 😂 omg Lamar is back in the crazy house then?
@TheRealMindCrime the Lamar thing I googled. Unless the article is fake? Then yeah??? I guess he is.....
And don't u lie to me, u most certainly ARE going to watch MJ and Kobe videos again. Because they are awesome. I mean it's not like you're stuck watching the freaking BULLS highlights..... oh,wait..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🫶
Fast fast 😂
Lol
Ah yes Thinking Basketball or NBA’s propaganda tool. First segment of the video is very showing indeed. less a swan song celebrating Kobe as the second greatest player of all time like we all know. But meant to passive aggressively marginalize Kobe. Seriously watch these videos closely and listen to how he describes Kobe or Jordan or mostly LeBron.
I agree
Kobe did worse to random teams that won over for time periods. Like the Kings when he knocked Mike Bibby cold and got 2 freethrows. 🤷♀️
He ended my enjoyment of making small bets on games by posting about 30 in the 4th against the mavs who were winning by 27 going into the 4th when I had $10-20 on the game during one of their championship years. Regular season game, he banked in a couple head on 3s if I remember correctly.
Good lord lol. Yeah that's Kobe. Guy could single handedly take down a great team on his own. Kinda like 80s Jordan did lol
"An offensive virtuoso" sounds like you're saying Kobe was incredibly gifted at cussing people out. 😂
Hahahaha that would be the 2025 translation of that I suppose 🤣
@TheRealMindCrime 😂 i like to consider myself somewhat of an offensive virtuoso (shame we must keep it PG on TH-cam!).
Did this guy seriously say Kobe didn’t measure up to Magic?
Hey yall, ya hear how Lebron is scared and won't participate in skills challenge all star weekend.
I'm not sure a GOAT would be frightened to show off skills, he should dominate
Yup i heard. They asked him and bronny to do it together. They would've gotten crushed so good call avoiding that lol. Too bad though cuz it would've been funny
Ugh the more I listen to thinking Basketball the more I realize he loves to just dump on Kobe in so many passive aggressive ways what disrespectful sh!t
You know, it's not MJ's fault, but I think the constant comparisons to MJ and trying to find the next MJ has ruined basketball. If it weren't for that, I think Lebron wouldn't be a different person, has a different career, and the NBA would be better overall in many ways. The media ruined the NBA.
You watch this, and how could anyone say that lebron is a better basketball player than Kobe.
They are either uneducated or delusional. Smh
