    Jokic is the best example of a big man shooting 3s. Jokic shoots the 3 only when he's open and even when he is open he will often pump fake and drive instead of taking a wide open 3. It all flows with the offense and not forced at all. Even at nearly 5 attempts per game

    • @jammiebooker6489
      @jammiebooker6489 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      👍Joker is smarter with the 3 and it shows. Shooting 47.4% this year from 3 (vs 36% career). It's sad seeing players (including Wemby) attempt 10-15 3's in a night and only hit 2-3 of them....I understand going for 3 if "you're on fire", but these guys will keep going to the well during a game and repeatedly coming up with an empty bucket. Realize it's not your night and get it to the hot player (or post up if you're Wemby)

      yup! I have no beef when Jokic does it cuz he's wide open when it happens. If not open he looks for a better play

    Logically speaking, playmaking should be easier when you’re taller just because of your higher vantage point. I think that’s why there’s been such a push for diverse skillsets in the league as opposed to specialization. Historically, a big man was planted in the paint because he could bully his way to the basket. But, if he could do that, he can theoretically also put the ball in someone else’s hands. The only problem is that requires a level of reflexes and ball handling older bigs didn’t have. They were taught to primarily focus on a stationary target AKA the basket versus multiple moving teammates.

    Wemby caught my attention in France several years ago and I hoped that the Pistons would have a chance at him, saying then "If not Detroit, Pop and the Spurs would be the best fit for him." The sooner "LeFlop" isn't sucking up so much of the narrative the sooner more of the public will realize that there are NBA superstars worth watching (even if the game isn't as good as the 80's and 90's).

    • @PizzaTime727
      @PizzaTime727 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      There were always superstars, but they went all in on Lebron even before he got to the NBA. And now, they just keep doubling down. It's too late to backtrack for the mainstream media.

    • @baimun
      @baimun 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@PizzaTime727 Agreed. It all started with the frenzy to dub "the next Jordan" and they went through Kobe, T-Mac, Grant Hill, and others instead of letting the superstars rise to the top with their play. And it seems the league really struggles to understand how many of the top players are coming from Europe because the rules are tougher there instead of easier.

    Ye Olde Spurs Fan here. Yes, I think Wemby's a star at least. Superstar? I don't know about that. Certainly, he can
    be fun to watch, but I feel the Spurs aren't positioning him well for future success. I don't like Wemby out at the 3 point
    line on defense EVER. I think he ought to switch to guard the post every time. But, I'm old school. That's really my
    only complaint about how they're using him. On offense, just turn him loose. He's dangerous from anywhere on the court,
    passing or shooting.
    On that 3 pt. shot you stopped to comment on, you're right. Look where THEIR big man is. He's down in the post in
    case Wemby misses, right where he should be. And since the odds of Wemby making that shot are less than 40%
    whether he's covered or not ( he ain't Curry ), that positioning is logical. Okay, it's a 3 on the break, but none of the
    other Spurs have a prayer of getting a rebound. He misses and the Rockets are headed the other way. I'd rather
    someone else brought the ball up, and give Wemby time to get into the post. Then whatever happens, happens.
    Not having him in the post on most possessions is going impact his rebounding and blocks in a negative way.
    Yeah, I know his block avg. is nuts right now. But, think about what it could be if he were set up in the post on
    defense more. His blocks and rebounds would probably take a significant jump.
    P.S. - I miss Coach Pop. I haven't heard any news about his health, but I hope he's getting better.

    What I like of Wemby is that he is trying to adapt to the NBA without changing too much how he plays... He still defend hard, boxout and still playing through the flow of the offence without forcing too much. I agree with you too many 3s but he is still figuring it out, and he is already so good so hope to see a healthy Wemby in the future. I am kind of on strike with the NBA, because I haven't watched a full game in 2 years but players like him or Giannis make me still wanna follow somehow

    I love Wemby, and cp3 is a perfect guy for him right now. Despite the game looking like everyone going through the motions, wemby makes it exciting. Truly a unicorn akin to mj in physiology and iq, idk if he has that killer mentality. Time will tell, i hope he has an amazing career with Pop as coach. A guy this hungry giving that much effort on defense? Youre the fucking man Wemby. And hopefully the league makes him a big star and he leads the nba into a more defensive league and balance this crap out. Look at his effort dude it’s inspiring.

    Wemby is extremely smart and has great vision at only 21 yo. As soon as Jokic starts to regress he will be the new top dog in the league and I don't really see anyone knocking him off that pedestal. If he stays healthy the sky is the limit for him.

    I don’t love Wemby’s shot diet either, but the long 3s create long rebounds. If his team was more on task they could get in position to get some offensive boards being ready 10 fr out. Offensive boards are just low priority. But especially if Wemby is by the logo to affect transition play from the opponent.

    Last summer during the Olympics, France played indeed better with him at the block with Yabusele (#posterdunkonLeBron) stretching and penetrating, than when he played alongside Gobert and let him the low block to streatch. It's like it was for Sampson alongside Olajuwon.

    I haven’t watched a lot of him playing but what I have bearly seen and heard he could be an all around great player if you surround him with other players that know there role. I’m sure that the weigh is a big concern but how the game is played now I would not be that worried.
    I’m happy to see how foreign players are showing how the can dominate the game; what’s said is that they are some good local players that should be doing the same BUT there not in love of the game. They just want to get paid and that’s it.
