Human Tornado is a must before Dolemite is My Name because the majority of the funniest scenes they spoof from Dolemite movies comes from Human Tornado and not the original Dolemite.

Human Tornado is my favorite of the two Dolemite films and the main inspiration for the Mad TV sketches. Dolemite tries to be a serious action movie while Tornado succeeds in being a hilarious goof of an action movie.

The funny thing is it wasn't supposed to appear. For some reason only the open matte version of the movie was available for many years until Vinegar Syndrome rereleased it in the correct aspect ratio, so people thought it was a bad movie (because of the boom mic) when in reality it was just a bad transfer from the distributor who didn't know it had a widescreen negative

Nice! Love these Blaxploitation movies. All incredible soundtracks on Superfly, the Mack, Across 110th street, Troubleman, Black Caesar, Coffy, and shaft. Super inspiring what these filmmakers did with the resources they had.

Black Dynamite is a love letter to multiple blaxpoitation movies. If you find yourself watching more you'll pick up the references. I'd recommend Three The Hardway, Blacula or Coffy (the Mrs will love Coffy 😅) Great reaction.

I saw this for the first time a few months ago. Having seen my name is dolomite first, I understood that dolomites character was a stage presence that was carried on into the movie, which is why he was doing a routine for the men in the parking lot. Rudy Ray Moore understood how to franchise his character from album, to movie, and beyond.
The tambourine player that Emily loves so much is the great James Ingram!! The band is called Revelation Funk and James Ingram was the lead singer
Watching this movie, I recognize many of the locations here in Los Angeles. The nightclub scene’s was filmed at The Total Experience nightclub that was burned down in 2021, although it was closed for some years before it burned down. My High school, Crenshaw High, was only a few minutes away from the club. Some of the students would sneak in to watch Rudy Ray Moore perform.
Matthew's gonna have to shut this channel down soon before it starts getting too expensive. In just one video Emily wants a new bed, wallpaper and some new clothes! lol

As a black kid that grew up in Mississippi(Canton), Rudy Ray Moore was a God among us youngsters. Dolemite, The Human Tornado and Petey Wheatstraw(The Devil's Son In Law) were classics.

Human Tornado and Petey Wheatstraw, possibly even better than Dolemite. Sugar Hill (1974), though not one of Rudy's, is seriously effective horror coming out of the same zeitgeist. Thanks for great reactions.
