Hold on, nitpicky nerd here. Hal is an Air Force captain, which is an O-3. Starfleet, like most sci-fi, uses Naval rankings, where captain is an O-6. I don't know why the navy has to be weird, but a Naval captain outranks captain from other branches of the service. I know that's not your fault, i just needed to point it out. May the algorithm be with you.
Casually Comics I would find this series a bit more funny and interesting if timeWarner (the company that owns Warner Bros which owns DC) buys national amusements (the company that owns Viacomcbs which owns the rights to the Star Trek franchise) and then bam! Both Star Trek and DC would be under one company
The best part of Hal’s posturing with the “Captain Jordan” bit is that Starfleet’s ranking is based on naval ranks, where captain is equivalent to major in other armed forces-so Kirk actually DOES outrank him.
You're a bit off there: Navy Captain is equivalent of full Colonel in other US branches. That's 1 level below Rear Admiral LH / Brigadier General. In any case though, Hal was an Air Force Captain, so he knows full well that his rank is 3 levels below Navy Captain.
One of my favorite Star Trek jokes: "He's dead Jim- you get his wallet, I'll get his tricorder". I hadn't heard of this cross over but now it's on my 'buy on sight' list.
I appreciate the portrayal of Spock. Vulcans seem to need to practice emotion regulation and train in meditation which suggests that their emotional control is not so different from our own. Emotion regulation requires the ongoing observation of emotional processes to be able to choose the most effective response based on desired outcomes. All emotions serve a purpose so if we ignore the emotion, we ignore the motivating factor. As a result, our behavior can become impulsive and irrational. We often seem so emotionally driven because we do not take the time to consider the factors driving out emotions and what is needed for a given situation.
I loved that they had Scotty's rings create force fields which would allow crewmembers to survive without a space suit. A great callback to the cartoon.
What's funny is because the enterprise is 1701, it kinda looked like he just incremented all the digits until you get to the last one... which threw me just enough that I plain old forgot about the sector number thing.
"When you boot it up, the classic Star Trek theme plays." TNG theme plays As someone who came into Star Trek during the TNG era, and who's favorite cast is TNG, I appreciate this. 🙂
I could just feel your glee in this video. One it's a trade (and you have expressed your love of trades), two it's a crossover (again expressed joy), and it's Trek. It's a trifecta of awesome nerddom! I squealed the whole time! I also must congratulate you on containing the side bar I would not be so contained and would have also used Charlie X to further push the Spock Uhura dynamic due to their duet. I just had fun with this episode and immediately ordered the trade because I NEED this in my life!
I love seeing Sasha geek out over Star Trek! Reminds me of me when I recently came across the tradeback collection of John Byrne's Star Trek stories, which I somehow didn't even know was a thing!
As far as I can tell, Spock had the most emotional equilibrium during Star Trek II, he seemed to have fully transcended all of the issues he was facing in the series and the Motion Picture by then. Of course, the events of 3 and 4 threw all that out, but he MAY have regained it between 4 and 6, it's unclear if he ever fully regained all his memories...As for my Ring color, what emotion is Chartreuse?
I didn’t know you are a Trekkie! I love it! You should start a new channel called Trivially Trek covering all things Trek, new and old, wherever our whims take us, etc. There is so much material from series, episodes, movies, merch, etc. I’d subscribe.
I feel your geeking-out energy over this crossover! My introduction to Green Lantern lore was Green Lantern the Animated Series, and part of the reason I loved that show was because it felt a bit like Star Trek. So I LOVE that this exists.
First, love the green wig telling us which side you are on. Second, Blacksad is such an awesome book. Thanks for giving it some shine. Third, love how much you geeked out in this one. Lots of fun. Fourth and most important, Star Trek Six was unexpectedly fantastic. So much there!
The funny thing is that since the Air Force officer ranks follow the Army system and Starfleet follows the Navy system, Hal Jordan is technically the equivalent of a Lieutenant, so Kirk outranks him by 3 whole grades.
I think it works for Spock to harness all of the emotions, because if there's a problem in a _Star Trek_ story, you can be almost certain that Spock has some amazing Vulcan power that can solve it 🖖
I’m actually surprised that you haven’t made more Trek-related content for this channel, seeing your enthusiasm for it in this video. I’d love to hear your take on the different eras of TREK comics (Gold Key, Marvel 1980s, DC, Malibu, Marvel/Paramount, Wildstorm, IDW, etc.).
As always thank you so very much for the video. And also thank you for the reference to "Star Trekkin' " by "The Firm" (1987) - I recognized it immediately when you said it. "It Life Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it Jim..." I too love that song too. Now I'm going to listen to that, and something "Highly Illogical" from Leonard Nimoy.
I loved this crossover event! I read this and the sequel and I personally felt they blended very well I also think the ring colors chosen for everyone very well. While I definitely do agree that the Ferengi overall work better for Orange than the Romulans, I get why they picked them over the Ferengi simply because the Ferengi were probably a little too comical for this and the Romulans being more about subterfuge than outright aggression made them the most fitting enemy to give the Orange Lantern power to
WOW! another great crossover I didn't even know existed! This one is definitely on my Christmas list! Believe it or not I got a picture and an autograph with TOS Captain Kirk at the Star Trek Convention in Vegas. Love Trek (New and Old) and if I remember correctly, it's not that Vulcans don't have emotions they just suppress them. Greatest channel on the net!!
Love all the Trek love gushing all over this video! Swim in it, drink it in! LOL! I didn't know about this crossover, but it seems to have the right balance or Trek and GL. The art looks exceptional! I had that issue of GL/GA with the cameo of a Vulcan GL, and it was exciting to think about the possibilities! I don't recall the particulars, but I think he showed up again. When you have Kirk and Gorn fight, you should have the classic 'fight music' playing in the background, get balled up brown paper as boulders (unless you use real rocks), but stop short of recreating a cannon . . . nothing I know about! LOL!
Btw they are not the same rank at all. Star Trek's Fleet ranks are based on US Navy ranks, and while both the Air Force and Navy have a rank called "captain" they are not the same. Hal is an O3 Air Force captain, while Kirk is an O6 Navy captain. Kirk is three ranks higher than Hal, which is a huuuuge gap, for him to be talking sas, none the less pulling rank

This a fun one, and glad you had fun with it :) The two best films of the original series are II and VI, II wins out just by a hair for me, because it's so theatrical. I do love VI, especially for all the Cold War allusions.
Yeah!!! My favorite TV series (all of the Star Treks) and my 2nd favorite DC superhero Green Lantern together. I like it when the Star Trek Universe crosses over to either the Marvel Universe and the DC Universe. This story feels right almost like a glove.
My favorite CC so far. No matter how cool this comic looks -- Star Trek DC/Green Lantern crossover is my pop culture nerd dream -- it will be hard pressed to be more compelling and entertaining than this incisive commentary. Just brilliantly funny here. A few years ago there was a pretty good crossover between OS Star Trek -- Shatner Kirk -- and the Legion of Super Heroes. Would love to hear your thoughts on that one. But this one was so great I'm going to replicate Jokerized Fries and watch it again.
Poor Kyle, he should join a support group with Roy Harper & Wally West for characters DC are unnecessarily mean to. Just make sure it's not hosted in Sanctuary.
That's how I know. I love this channel. I don't know a single thing about Star Trek and don't plan on knowing anything about it yet. I still am halfway through it nodding my head like of course
The one thing I wonder, where the heck does that ship disappear to for centuries at a time, and what is it up to? Is it communicating with whales on other planets or something? Was it made by an ancient race of space-whale overlords??
I'd ask for TNG but then you'd just have Q snapping Nekron into a bottle or something. Love the classic Spock/Kirk lantern variant for the first one. Also, go team Orange. My team. Mine.
I especially like that they didn't walk it back making THIS another timeline. More of this would be interesting. On a side note I think THIS look is a personal best for you.
I read it from the Star Trek side. I hadn't read the GL comics this crossed over with. So... I liked it. I did have some understanding of GL and knew about the existence of other color Lanterns at the time but I still think it didn't overwhelm the reader. So over all good.
Don't forget before that crossover there was a Vulcan who was a member of the Green Lantern Corps in till they kill them off on Blackest Night. His name was Saarek.
The Trek is strong in this one :D You were vibrating with nerd energy. I love me a good crossover too. I need to pick up the Green Lantern/Planet of the Apes trade.
I love Star Trekkin and Newgrounds (fight for revival! Everything by everyone! [raises fist in air]) but had NOOO idea there was a new grounds animation for it! I need to look this up now! Thank you Sasha! 🥰
Some of the Star Trek crossovers are really fun. I liked this series and it worked. I also like Star Trek/Planet of the Apes, and the Star Trek/Legion of Super Heroes. Plus how do you not love NCC-2814
Hi! New subscriber and I have to say I love your videos. This one hit me right in the feels because of my love of Star Trek and Green Lantern. I thought this crossover was decent with some amazing variant covers (the one with the Lantern Corps symbols surrounding the Enterprise is my favorite). If you haven’t already covered it, I can highly recommend another ST crossover, this one with Planet of the Apes, called “The Primate Directive.” Old school Trek with apes? I’m there!
"Wait, didn't they say they couldn't charge their rings because the batteries were gone?" I think that's actually the plot of the sequel. I'd like to have a blue ring, that way I won't have to remember to charge it. Plus, the Blue Lanterns seem pretty easygoing. Stone Trek was a blast overall. Did you see any episodes besides the Star Trekkin' music video?
I think the Orange ring going to Romulus is to show that Decius's "Greed" stands out singularly. As compared to the mass of greed that is Ferengenar...
You have to do more Star Trek Crossovers. There was a crossover in the 90s between TOS & the X-men. Then another one with TNG & the X-Men that was in a comic & then a novel. Love to see your thoughts on those.
You are correct. Star Trek VI IS awesome! And am I the only one who enjoyed watching you fangirl over the Corn and Kirk action figures? Because I would totally make them fight too!
It sounded like a very weird crossover, but I love Green Lantern & I love Star Trek, so if I figured why not. I was happily surprised and left wanting more.
I like the crossover between Star Trek TOS and X-men. *Bones and Beast both working to save Gamit's life *Nurse Chapel runs in: "Dr. McCoy!" *Both look up: "Yes?" "Yes?" *Both look at each other quizzically Best line in any comic ever
I’ll have to add this to my collection list! Other favorite Star Trek crossovers include: The Next Generation meets Dr. Who. Best moment- Spock’s assessment of a Jelly Baby handed to him by the Fourth Doctor! Or Star Trek Original Series meets the X-Men. Best moment- someone on the bridge calls for Dr. McCoy, and they both answer! Also, Cyclops got along with Kirk way better than GL did. Just sayin’.
There was a novel sequel to the TOS/X-Men crossover with the X-Men then meeting the TNG crew. It's perhaps most notable for the exchange where Picard and Professor Xavier notice the resemblance between each other, which was actually written before the X-Men movies.
@@EinDose That’s wild! Did not know about the sequel. A number of artists, notably Alex Ross often modeled the Professor either after Patrick Stewart, or Yul Brenner during the 80’s and 90’s. Maybe they were psychic…😉
@@haileyshannon7548 it’s also just as well that Mr. Crossbones wasn’t there, either. As Bones has been known to be cross. “I’m a Doctor, not a jumping blue furball!!!” 😉👍
Spock as the White Lantern? I have… reservations, let’s call them, but it makes the most sense given the available options. But why they opted for General Chang instead of Khan, I’ll never know. It’s admittedly an obscure but inspired choice, but Khan would have been next level with a Yellow Lantern ring! Can you imagine??? 🤔🤔🤔
Incidentally, @Casually Comics, if you really like those 14" figures, Mego also did them in 9" - and they've done all the TOS bridge crew, many in various uniforms, Kor, Kang and Romulan.

Rewatched this video recently. Still like it and I hope you do more Star Trek reviews in the future. 🙂
The best part of Hal’s posturing with the “Captain Jordan” bit is that Starfleet’s ranking is based on naval ranks, where captain is equivalent to major in other armed forces-so Kirk actually DOES outrank him.
Although experience wise this Kirk has less experience than this Jordan.
You're a bit off there: Navy Captain is equivalent of full Colonel in other US branches. That's 1 level below Rear Admiral LH / Brigadier General.
In any case though, Hal was an Air Force Captain, so he knows full well that his rank is 3 levels below Navy Captain.

"This desiccated skeleton is dead, Jim."
"...Thanks, Bones."
I really liked how Hals ship is NCC-2814 that's a nice touch. I was a little disappointed Hal didn't try to snap Sinestros neck, that's a D C staple.
Right that's like their go to
I appreciate the portrayal of Spock. Vulcans seem to need to practice emotion regulation and train in meditation which suggests that their emotional control is not so different from our own.

That's why a lot of people look that very logic irl. Since the feelings are 100% valid yet how they're expressed at times can hurt more than help
👀👀👀👀👀
I loved that they had Scotty's rings create force fields which would allow crewmembers to survive without a space suit. A great callback to the cartoon.
Wait, no mention of Hal's Enterprise construct's registration number at 16:04? "NCC-2814"! Absolutely brilliant. Crossover gold.
I'll have to reread it to find that detail.
What's funny is because the enterprise is 1701, it kinda looked like he just incremented all the digits until you get to the last one... which threw me just enough that I plain old forgot about the sector number thing.
"When you boot it up, the classic Star Trek theme plays." TNG theme plays
As someone who came into Star Trek during the TNG era, and who's favorite cast is TNG, I appreciate this. 🙂
Well it is the theme from ST:TMP, so it was originally a TOS theme (just not to the TV series).
@@johnpotts8308 Yep, and it was also the theme for Star Trek V, as well!
"Ok, good, now tell him you want to be remembered for the planes you flew"- I literally bwahahaha'd

Ok seeing a Gorn is always fun. Few years ago I got to see the original costume at a museum and it was so freaking cool
I love this crossover its my favorite green lantern crossover because Kirk is 100000% like hal Jordan and I love their moments together.
Personally I really loved the justice league vs the power rangers crossover. Seeing batman get thrown around by power rangers was great.
I need to find that. Oh, Bruce. All that martial arts training was for nought.
A cute part of that crossover was the Pink Ranger wearing a Hawkgirl mask and using the boxing glove arrow and asking to be allowed to keep it.
We can have a new series:
Spock's Girlfriend: Nyota Uhura
How many times can she get married?

You have to do more Star Trek Crossovers. There was a crossover in the 90s between TOS & the X-men. Then another one with TNG & the X-Men that was in a comic & then a novel. Love to see your thoughts on those.
I love this video!! Not a big Green Latern fan, but I was geeking out with u on the Star Trek stuff!
McCoy... got Empathy?
MCCOY, mister 'Dammit I'm a Doctor Jim!" McCoy?
I like the crossover between Star Trek TOS and X-men.
*Bones and Beast both working to save Gamit's life
*Nurse Chapel runs in: "Dr. McCoy!"
*Both look up: "Yes?" "Yes?"
*Both look at each other quizzically
Best line in any comic ever
The “Dr. McCoy” bit is classic. X-men also did a TNG crossover, but unfortunately Picard and Xavier never meet
In the TOS Trek comic Kirk hits on Jean Grey.
Sasha: "What color of the spectrum would your ring be?"
Me: "Um ... what color is 'stubborn?'"
9:02 - In , there is no "Trekkie/Trekker" - it is .
Incidentally, @Casually Comics, if you really like those 14" figures, Mego also did them in 9" - and they've done all the TOS bridge crew, many in various uniforms, Kor, Kang and Romulan.
There's Klingons on the starboard bow. 🎶
The whole Spock being a white Lantern thing makes me wonder why they never thought to do anything like that with Raven
Wait, Sasha… Are you wearing all the colours of the emotional spectrum?
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽… Bravo, well played!
