Moving forward to 2021, I would go for the Rocket Boxer One or Two Group with timer! I just saw a one group at a local ice cream shop and it is a beautiful machine and I think it would be good for a coffee cart for indoor or outdoor events. I think I would go with this over the Linea Mini because of the larger work and the lower cost. And I would go with the K30 Vario for a commercial grinder.
We'll be working through a Choose Your Own Adventure series during 2013 that will focus on selecting a commercial machine. This is just a primer. - Kat
I'm pretty sure it never happened. If you need to know what kind of gear you need because you are opening a coffee bar, and you need to watch video's of SCG for that, you are doomed.
What happen if you are looking for a 30drinks/hr but demand a good feature, like slayer, la marzocco and victoria arduino. Is it a good investment if a start-up invest such machine but only to serve less than 30 cups of coffee per hr.
Hi Teaching the Deaf Coffee Barista students, after they graduate, registration, cooperative. What is commercial espresso machine? Heavy duty grinder. Thanks!
You could kind of extrapolate from our 'how much time to make 4 lattes' videos, because that includes the time to recover, etc. You'd also have to keep refilling those tanks like crazy! :) - Kat
Hi , what's the name and model number of the grinder that you have on there? are you still using the same one or did you get a better grinder? please advise
Cool! Yeah, folks always use smaller machines but we can't sell them smaller machines because otherwise they'd be on our cases for not selling them a machine that does what they need to do ;) But we've heard of every machine we sell being used commercially in some way or another :D - Kat
hello what is the name of those 2 machines that she stated if we are looking to do about 100 drinks? we are looking to start a coffee shop soon and we are skeptical about buying a machine because we are on a budget
Hi, Gail! Really enjoying watching your videos! Currently working on rebuilding a La San Marco 85-FCS-2, but am totally new to the espresso machine world. It didn't come with a water pump, and I'm curious if that is required? Or if it can be plumbed and use standard water pressure with the manual refill. Thank you!
Hi Gail, thanks for all your videos., quick question, what can you say about Carimali "Tema style" commercial Espresso Machine? Also with the Carimali K1 grinder? TIA...
Great presentation I've watched so far. Thank you... Now qiuck question. My cafe rush hour is about 30 to 50 drinks. I'm planning to buy Nuova MDX on demand grinder and simonelli appia 2 volumetric. Will this work out well?
We would hate to see you point and click a commercial machine for their business. Give us a call at 866-372-4734 and we would love to help you out with choosing whats right for you.
Great video. I've daydreaming of someday opening a smaller sized Cafe and am wondering what you thought of a two Jura giga 9 set up. They seem to have a nice compact size and great capabilities allowing an owner to be less reliant on staffing and labor cost. I'm also concerned about mechanical support as it doesn't seem Jura has much of a Canadian presence. Thx
Hi Christopher McInnis! Thanks for the comment. So we can best help you please give our Commercial Services Team a call at 866.372.4734. Or you can contact us via email here: support@seattlecoffeegear.com Looking forward to talking with you!
Great informations for those thinking to open their own Caffe. I have a question.. This huge grinder, or any commercial grinder, how much it costs? Thanks again.
Hi, I have a question about La Spaziale Mini Vivaldi II. Are you saying 30 drinks an hour, or 30 drinks a day? I clearly hear you're saying 30 drinks an hour. However I chatted with online support today, and they told me it is 30 drinks PER DAY. Which is crazy for the money it costs. Can you please clarify?
Hey fellow special-spresso lovers! I'm planning on starting a coffee shop in a year so I'm researching espresso machines and all that good stuff. All advice is welcome!!!!!
Hi, I'm on the same boat, and it is impossible to get online advice. They're all commercial marketers. What did you end up buying? How much was it, and how many drinks you're pulling a day? I appreciate if you can respond.
I have very small bakery sits 12 people but most are take away and I have low budget, I’m thinking about las paziales Vivaldi mini S1 what’s your thought today, thank you
I actually ended up with awesome ambiente shaerer machine semi automatic makes beautiful foam and consistent coffee with very low training and maintenance
So, I have what may be a silly question. I notice that many coffee shops have multiple kinds of coffee beans available. Do you use just one grinder for all the different coffee beans? Or am I just really confused? I can't figure out this grinder thing.. I've got everything else down! Thanks in advance for your reply!
+BlindGamerChick Hello! In a cafe setting, having a grinder per bean helps with speed of service. But at home that isn't always a problem. When changing beans on our home grinders, we like to grind some of the new beans to purge the grinder of any old/different coffee and discard before grinding the beans we plan to brew. Did that answer your question? Thanks for watching!
Seattle Coffee Gear Yes, thank you! My mother and I are thinking about opening up a small coffee shop and this question was the only one I couldn't figure out!! Thank you so so much :) I love your videos! They're so helpful.
+BlindGamerChick It really depends on the volume of your cafe! Give our commercial team a call and we would be happy to answer any other questions you might have :D Cheers! 866.372.4734
+BlindGamerChick I think what SCG was saying is that you would have to switch the beans. Perhaps you could buy 1 grinder that holds your main roast (I imagine 60% of customers would want one, standard roast) and a separate one just for speciality beans.
HI Sain Saition! For a gallery that does a max of 30 drinks per hour, a Rancilio Epoca 1 group would work: Crew Review: Rancilio Epoca - S1 Tank The Epoca 1 group has several different options, but the video above shows the S1 tank version. - Sarah
hey Kat, call me crazy (and don't tell gail this or she might get mad) (; but my commercial machine i use 2 times a week and probably only make 40 drinks a hour, and i use a ec155... hahaha. it actually does a lot better than you'd think!
Hi Boodieman72! Great point! This video does not touch on selecting a super automatic for the commercial sector. We will add your suggestion to our video list for future filming. - Sarah
can you get away with two single machines instead of 1 two espresso machine? like two Breville Oricles or two Nuova Simonelli Appia 1 Group instead of a 2 group machine.
In case you're still curious, you'd have to set up a separate plumbing system for each one. More time, more money, more opportunity for something to fail. It's better to go with a two group.
Thank you so much for this. Former barista here, got a job as a manager at a winery that wants to start a coffee program. Thank you for this.

This is so helpful! Love the dynamic between you two I could listen all day :D
Fantastic. These videos are priceless. Thank you.
You're welcome! - Kat
Opening a coffee bar, in the market for an espresso machine, soaking this up like a sponge.
Maybe you can post future vids of your machine. Good luck and enjoy..
How is it going?
I'm pretty sure it never happened. If you need to know what kind of gear you need because you are opening a coffee bar, and you need to watch video's of SCG for that, you are doomed.
I'm not familiar with it and how its internals are designed so, sadly, can't comment on how it fits into the grand scheme - Kat
Haha - totally agree! - Kat

Good information to choose the right machine. Thanks a lot.
i love your videos! the rapport between the two of them is perfect!
I am doing a coffee truck and plan to be at events weekly around the state. What type of espresso machine do you recommend?
Thinking about opening a coffee bar that only makes in house espresso. Thanks
The caffe I work at has a Vibiemme Replica with two groups. I was wondering where you would place that machine in the spectrum you mentioned?

Are there any updates to the recommended machines in this video or are they still relevant?? Thanks Gail!!
Hi Gail, thanks for all your videos., quick question, what can you say about Carimali "Tema style" commercial Espresso Machine? Also with the Carimali K1 grinder? TIA...
What commercial grinder was that beast, don't recognize it?
Would it be wiser to go for 4 x 1 group machines or 2 x 2 group machines assuming they're both same quality and price?

Seattle Coffee Gear oh! no,I can't. Actually, i don't live in the US. I live in Cambodia.
Rancilio Epoca ST 1 Group vs Rancilio Classe 5 ST 1 Group. Can you please tell the difference? And how many drinks per hour I can pull? Thank you

Does a machine need to be NSF certified?
Love this woman, she knows her stuff!
You're welcome! :D - Kat

Hi did you ever get this question answered?
I can't really answer this, as it's more about your technique and not as much about the machine. - Kat

What about selecting a super automatic commercial machine?
Hi Boodieman72! Great point! This video does not touch on selecting a super automatic for the commercial sector. We will add your suggestion to our video list for future filming. - Sarah
Mahlkonig K30 Vario - Kat
I know right, I wasn't expecting it at all, my boss told no one, just happened to come in with a wooden crate and just smiles at us.
