  • Improper use of this extremely potent opioid caused 10,000 deaths during 2016 with an even greater toll expected this year. Even when used according to medical advice, it often leads to addiction, abuse and respiratory failure. Little difference exists between the therapeutic and fatal dose with death possible with just one pill, patch or injection. Unfortunately fentanyl remains a popular drug of abuse often in combination with heroin.

Fentanyl is invaluable when used properly, medically. Hospitals would be in shambles without fentanyl.

In my country (Croatia) it is used primarily for cancer patients and in hospital settings..And always in patients that already have a great tolerance to other opioids. It is newer prescribed but rather given in a hospital or when a patient leaves to hospital.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the procedure, they would not be able to give you fentanyl or even morphine, as that would require intubation and therefore block the area that would have to be accessed. Although Ketamine could be an option, unfortunately ketamine can make some people act out in strange ways, which would also not be helpful.

I know that "they" wouldn't give me anything for my pain since pain meds have potential side-effects. And I would've believed that it was for my good if I hadn't known that everything has potential side-effects but it's just the pain meds that's being kept away.

Lads, never mess with this opioid... it's not a phenantrene, like morphine or oxycodone or diacetylmorphine! Plus, it's very short - lasting, having a short half-life!
