    Dr. Landow, I have been on a variety of psychiatric medications for the last 20 years. I'm doing very well now with just some minor bumps in the road. I especially enjoy your non-biased approach in describing medications. You just convey the facts - nothing more, nothing less. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and like to educate myself for my own benefit. Thank you again, and keep those videos coming!

It can have long acting effects especially once you're a senior but that being said is it better to be "drug free" all your life or is it better to have this medication that makes you feel normal again for the vast majority of your young life?

      @Buckshot 87 Oh right but if you have been taking it like that for years daily, clonazepam, haven't you developed any bad physical symptoms, like an itch or anything? Because of it?

    • @Mr.Kumar1
      @Mr.Kumar1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Buckshot 87 appreciate your help bro. I took like 0.7mg a week, all together for like a year, on and off, sometimes not take it at all for a few weeks, sometimes a tiny bit for a few days in a row, wrote it down whenever taken, but mathematically about 0.1mg a day average. Since lock down I stopped clonazepam too. But soon into lock down got a bad itch, like got a neuropathic (nerve) itch where you feel them firing, annoying sensation, and distracting. This is the only main tangible issue I have. Don't know if it is because of stress or clonazepam (I think it is stress tbh, as my dose of clonazepam was minimal.. ). Been off it for 3 months but still got the issue... Any say on that??

    Thank you for putting together an unbiased video about this particular drug. I suffer from both RLS and anxiety; I take 0.25 ODT TID, but only really take PRN. Thank you for defending the usefulness of this drug and listing the risks. It's not a cure-all, but it also should not be ignored by practicing physicians just because of sensational news stories. I recently had a severe breakdown over tinnitus (have long had OCD), and got myself into such a horrific anxiety loop that I went to the ER. My APRN prescribed this for me to bridge the gap while my SSRI increase kicks in, and its been a miracle. It's very much helped me break that vicious anxiety loop and helped me feel a lot more normal. I've only taken it a couple times, and even with it clearly worn off, I feel a lot more stable. The ear ringing isn't frightening me as much, and I feel much more hopeful about getting better. Dont plan on being on it long, but for the short time I have, it's been a godsend.

I've taken this drug for panic attacks and anxiety EVERY NIGHT for over 12 years now and only had to increase my dosage from a half a milligram a night to 1 milligram a night. Before this I dropped out of college from being panic stricken while giving presentations or just from the 1st day of class where you had to introduce yourself. It got so bad i had trouble getting haircuts or even doing activities with my family. This drug right here after trying 35 different drugs probably over the past 20 years FIXED me and I hope others on here will see this and speak to their DR about this drug and get the help you need.

    I have been prescribed Klonopin for about 6 months now. I wouldn't let them put me on an SSRI because I have family members who had suicide attempts while on those drugs. I have found that if I take one before the anxiety comes that it doesn't come near as heavy nor does it stay as long. They're becoming fewer and further between with each passing month. I spent 10 years in a a dead-set against taking Klonopin because of the recovery relapse aspect of it. All I can say about that is I could have saved myself a lot of trouble had I listened to the doctor over the people at the AA meeting

    Honestly the side effects of this medication and other Benzo's seem a lot less than even SSRI's. I think the main problem with these medications is the addiction and especially substance abuse.. But what about those people who don't abuse it or use it sparingly.. There are some people who take a low dose for decades and it works for them. Someone wrote an article once that if used properly and for people with real anxiety/panic disorder who aren't substance abusers, the benzo's work the best with the least side effects.. I wonder if the doctor would comment on this.

      I have been on klonopin for 5 years and am on week 2 off of it. It took a year-long taper, and is different from SSRI's. The withdrawal is mental and very physical in nature with this drug. Having a CNS that is rebounding off benzo use is scary and life-threatening. I also take Remeron which is an antidepressant and when I lower the dose it is just as extreme in a different way. I agree with you and used sparingly they are the best and have no unpleasant side effects really. I may incorporate benzos later but never taken every day in abundance ever again as prescribed.

      The fact is that benzos are short term tools and should never be taken for more than 3 weeks. And im not even saying this because of dependance nor abuse, but for the fact that long term use of benzos will only worsen the anxiety of the patient. I think anxiety is mainly du to environmental factors and the best way to deal with it is through personnal support like family and friends, through professional help like psychiatrist and ultimutaly through a complete change of the problematic environment, even if its mean resigning from a job or ending a relentionship. Because if you only face a problematic situation by taking benzos and not adressing the core issues, it will only get back to you in a much stronger way because of the addition of the disrupted natural functioning of the GABA system by these benzos.

    I’ve been using Klonopin for a year and it’s improved my life. Unlike Xanax or Ativan, Klonopin is much longer and smoother-acting. It doesn’t hit you hard and leave you. It builds up in your system over time to help anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, etc. It’s also great for my muscle spasms and muscle pain. It’s not nearly anywhere as addictive as other benzodiazepines. I stopped taking it for 2 weeks and had no withdrawal symptoms. Just take it as needed, as prescribed, and responsibly, and you’ll be fine! 😊👍

The doctor wrote me 60, 1 mg tablets with a refil. However, she reccomended me to a psychiatrist because she was a general practitioner and could'nt prescribe that medication for long term useage. I know I need this medicine as being diagnosed with bi polar and anxiety disorder for years now. This klonopin made me very tranquil and happy. After about an hour of taking 2, I was bumping into my furniture and laughing hysterically lol.

Of course, I can only speak for myself and how it reacts for me. Also, I have very little, if any, side-effects from taking this medication. The only one annoying side-effect was when I was taking this drug (3x a day) and that was varying frequencies of nighttime incontinence. Once I cut it down to 2x a day, that side-effect went away. I've been on this drug for many years with little to no tolerance issues. Thank gawd I found a solution to my lifetime issues. It's given me my life back.

    The worst part about it is you need it once you're on it. The rebound anxiety you can get is fucked. Feels like your brain is in fight or flight mode for no reason. That said there's nothing like it for social anxiety. Benzos just have this effect in anxious people that the feeling of not being so anxious is its own euphoria. Now you need it to sleep or feel normal. Luckily it's long lasting but valium I think is better for that. I'm rambling but great video

    I must be one of the lucky ones, as I've been taking Klonopin for three years now, 0.5mg x2 per day. That's two tablets. Most days I try to take a little less than that. But I haven't felt a need for a stronger dose and only occasionally for more frequent. When this guy said 8-12 mg per day that shocked me. I couldn't stay awake at that dose. The first time I was put on that drug many years ago, the Psychiatrist put me on 1mg x 3 per day. So 3 times what I'm on now. I lowered myself to only 0.5mg in the first dose because it was making me tired and I had trouble at work. I actually got lectured for that, and had to *convince her to LOWER the dose*. That was in 1998 when benzos were still "all the rage" among doctors. As for recreational use, I just don't see how that's possible. I take it to feel normal, not "high".

    Ive been taking Klonopin at the same dose for 10 years and took Paxil in both CR and IR for 8 years before starting Klonopin. These two drugs shouldn't even be labeled in the same category. Everyone knows that panic and anxiety is controlled by Gaba in which benzos increase the amount of, Paxil and SSRIs are don't touch GABA but rather increases Serotonin. I have 1 side effect with Klonopin which is mild constipation. On Paxil I had increased anxiety, night sweats, weight gain, more nervousness as well as others. Klonopin works and kicks in within 30 minutes and Paxil takes 3 weeks. These should not even be compared. Thanks for the helpful history anyway DR

I know that works for more people than it doesn't cuz a lot of people do that with suboxone they can't find a doctor who prescribe it but it will be covered under their insurance but meanwhile they have to pay out of pocket for the doctor but if you're anxiety is real bad it might be a better choice than suffering I know that's a lousy feeling I wish you luck..

      You do realize that just bevausd you take it as prescribed that doesent mean you don't abuse them. Most the time as prescribed ftlm doctors is way too much for way too long. Just causs your doctors tells you take it a certain way doesent mean you should. You should do research for yourself an quit trusting these doctors so much. Your body can get depentant on this drug after 2 weeks of use. An it can cause serious nueroligical issues in a very short amount of time. Saying you take it as prescribed, " with all due respect" doesent mean shit. Thousands upon thousands of people who say they took them as prescribed srs suffering right now because of benzos. They may hsve took it as directed by there doctors , but that doesent really mean shit when the doctors are the ones who are responspible for thousands upon thousands. Possibly millions of people suffering from this drug. An you wouldn't want people to be on this drug either if you knew what kind of horrible suffering they can cause. So how bout doing some homework first before spouting your ignorance. I hope you don't have to go threw any suffering from this drug. Becauss you'll be changing your mind real quick. For me that was a mistake and made me way to social and talkative and led into a lot of social drinking and drinking in general into the weeks of klonopin/ alcohol led me into a week long psychosis where I truly believed erything and the last day I truly lost it and had to see my doctor and he put me on clonidine for about a week.
