This Sage1 is the second Spyderco in my collection. It carries comfortably and I like the blade shape much more than that of the Para lineup. I did smooth out the texture on the scales because it was too aggressive and made it somewhat difficult to enter and exit the pocket. I used a 6 inch burnishing wheel on my grinder to lightly smooth out the texture. It is near perfect for me now. Looking forward to using it on a daily basis.
Both excellent choices. BBB has some great videos where he uses and abuses maxamet and shows how hard it can be pushed. If you like those, track down some Rex45 too, I think you'll enjoy that as well. That and K390.

Like your reviews bud👍🏻 I’m an avid collector/ enthusiast for the last few years,I’ve picked up around 170 Spyderco knives 🤦♂️ I know….crazy right. 😅 love the sage 5 lw. Have a couple mint M4 dlc versions. And regular production s30v’s. Have been into bigger blades lately as I work a civil service job and cut rope and fibrous materials and my go to has been a native 5 lw maganacut serrated. My first serrated blade , didn’t think I would like it , but it’s awesome 😎 so I grabbed a couple police 4 lw K390’s and carry one regularly for work. Also the Military 2 is a great model, I never had a military, lots of pm2’s and the millie 2 is just that much better imo ✌🏼

I think maxamet and m4 are two new favorite blade steels for me this past year . There s a big ol cold steel 4max @ midway for a great deal atm .
