    I love this knife like family. The micarta scales from Parsons Bladeworks took it to another level. Great review!

      Agreed just put those scales on mine

    I really enjoyed this video and review. Just purchased my own Sage 5 LW, and I would have to agree, the smoothest action of any Spyderco that I have handled.

    I enjoy your knife reviews. I just ordered a Sage 5 LW. I have a collection of pocket knives including a few Spyderco varieties, but after watching a few reviews and disassembly videos of the Sage 5 LW, I just had to have one.

    Solid review. Months ago I purchased the Manix 2 in S110V, S30V, and Maxamet, and although a great knife, it's huge in the pocket. I then saw the Sage in Maxamet and immediately knew that it would be a top contender for my favorite EDC knife. When it arrived my instincts weren't wrong. Everything about the knife feels perfect, from size, to blade geometry, level of jimping, and the thumb ramp to me is perfect(maybe it's the size of my hands) The blade finish is much nicer than the Manix 2 in Maxamet-(I ended up returning) and the gray G10 handles really compliment the blade finish. One more specific aspect, the effortless ability to close the knife utilizing the liner lock is incredible. The amount of space that's accessible the cut out provides to the liner lock is a beautiful thing. Love love love this knife.

    thanx man! after your review i've bought sage 5 LW! so i'm really happy to have it in to my pocket! before i've got Hungarian folder M390 and it was not the best just because of the price more than 300$, all the time i was worry about damaging. but now i find myself that i do want to cut everything around me))! i do recommend everybody Sage 5 LW - it's not just a good choice - it's like lottery win!))

    The CQI versions of both the Sage5 and the Kapara utilize a pivot bushing. I own both and the both have excellent actions.

    Another helpful review, especially about 15:55 discussing the fit/comfort in the pocket. Thanks

    Very nice review. Most all the knife reviewing heavyweights could take a few lessons from you. Anyhow, I think your review just cemented that I will be picking this up very soon. Thanks for a top notch and professional review!

    Nice review, man. I prefer G10 over RFN so I just bought the regular version and I loved it.

    Great review Wes 😄. I'm loving my Para3LW and I think I'm gonna get the SageLW too. I'm loving this lightweight series of spyderco 🧡. Have an awesome day man😄

    Just ordered the BladeHQ mint green Sage 5 with blacked out M4 blade. I tried to talk myself out of it for weeks… but I failed. Owning the LW Chaparral, I felt like it was somewhat redundant, but between the action, compression lock, and blacked out M4, I just couldn’t resist. The only thing that could have been better would be K390, but IMO M4 is the next best thing. When the custom Parsons scales are back in stock I’ll be picking them up and that will be a damn near perfect knife in my book!

    I am looking forward to your comparison video between the Sage 5 LW and the Para 3 LW.
    I ended up getting the Para 3 because of the CTS-BD1N steel. I have this steel on my Spyderco UK penknife
    which seems to hold a edge almost as long as S30V but strops easily to a razor edge.
    Thanks for the informative review.

    Will you be doing a short review on the sage 1 Maxamet? Curious to have your thoughts on this steel and HRC measure.

    I bought mine for about 120 bucks. It’s my first nice knife and I can’t figure why nobody is using it much. It also makes me sad that there isn’t any sprint runs with different steels and handles. I love this knife.

    Great review. I just recently picked-up the re-released Sage 1 in Maxamet steel and grey G10. I much prefer the liner lock over the compression lock. Happy New Year

      Great choice as well! I’m happy to see the Sage line get some different steel.

    I would order from CS but they do not have a rewards program :(. I am in the millie club and I appreciate everything Jeff has done for our group. Having said that, I also work very hard for my money and if I am spending hundreds of dollars on knives it would be nice to get a little something back in return. For this I have to shop at DLT and REC etc. Hopefully this is taken as constructive criticism and not me bashing CS, maybe its something Jeff will consider in the future.

    Nice review! Just bought a para 3. This makes me interested in the sage 5. Could you compare the sage 5 regular to the lightweight version?

    Just came across the channel like the videos. I was wondering between the mini griptilian vs the sage 5 they are about $15 difference here in Canada and looking for a daily carry (office and field) so elegant and strong. What are some recommendations. Thanks

    I have a strong negative bias towards FRN, I can't help it. Was yours centered? A lot of the LW compression locks seem to always hug the one side.

    • @ThePocketPerspective
      @ThePocketPerspective  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it was perfect. Sage LW is GTG and might change your mind on FRN. I love the stuff, but there are makers out there that make custom scales for the LW since it has liners.

    Which would you prefer, the Sage with SPY27 or the Native 5 with S90V?

    • @ThePocketPerspective
      @ThePocketPerspective  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably the Native in S90V. SPY27 isn’t too far off from S30V.

    • @lancelink88
      @lancelink88 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThePocketPerspective Sorry I meant S30V not Spy27. But I agree with you on all accounts. I've got the torquise Native 5 and it is awesome.
