@@neweclipz6595 Yeah, that thing was a nightmare (no pun intended). Though it seems somewhat uncommon at the moment. This was more if you still want to play something with familiar mechanics.
Just out of curiosity how old is the 5% statistic cause I can remeber the first time such a stat being given out was 2018 not saying it has changed much or the teir to tier spread has change (it's likely increased at higher tiers and marginally decreased at lower teirs) I'm only asking if that statistic is infact semi recent.
I want to say I heard that value thrown around when I still played. in 2015. It's certainly not recent and I'm with you that the higher in tier you go, the higher the use of gold ammo is.
The statistic is old... very old... and it didnt change. I started to play back in 2012, when there were only 3 nations, with the 4rd on the way (USA). Only heavys had t10 and the reach was +3/-3... the gold ammo was there, but you know, back then it actually cost gold. so basically only a very very small group of players could really shoot gold. I heard that statistic back in 2013 for the first time. To be fair, I dont know if it was official or just some rumors. I never really checked wot stuff in formus and other pages. But the fact it stated 5% back then makes me think it was at least some sort of official data...
Jingles got this right. Playing for fun In WoT works if you gri.d to tier 7 & 8, maybe 9. Great tanks at those tiers and one doesn't need a bottomless supply of gold ammo.
I have not touched any of my Tier 10 tanks in the last 3 months. And I have quite a few. Even Tier 9 is turning into a gold fiesta. Drive out in your E75 and see how many normal ammo you attract.
Guess i got my replay featured, i was the E3. I gotta say i used to basically always just shoot ap with the occasional gold shell here and there, but as of recent years everyone seems to shoot basically nothing but gold at me, i thought, why the hell not, fight fire with fire. Kinda sad the game has reached this point
Everybody talking about the audio... I am watching how jingles somehow messed up the Maths in the second tank destroyer game... where somehow a tank firing 10 gold shells at 5200 each came out to 11 gold shells worth of value... Note: Its because jingles counted a random other person's shot as well at 13:10 X3
Understand the bigger knife reference? Jingles, according to my dad, it stemed from a distant relative of my family. She was working in a book shop when a guy tried to rob her at knife point. Family legend has it she said "oh, you have a knife, well I got a bigger one!" turned around and grabbed the cutting arm off a broken paper cutter, and chased him down the street with it. The story was featured in a news paper when the movie was being made and the producers decided to do a play on it. Again, can't confirm since I am too lazy to research it myself, but its fun to think its true. Any who, thanks for your content.
When I played WOT I often ended up selling a tier 10 in a line to drop back down to the tier 9 because I won more matches and had more fun in the tier 9. (WZ-111-1-4 for example)
I will say this though. Props to the tortoise player in this game, he did fabulous and deserves to be highlighted in your video. However, even though the tortoise does indeed have a cupola that can be penned, it is a rather small one which you can't even hope to deal with at over 100 metres. The tortoise according to recent statistics even in WGs own (rip vb addict, btw) the tank is actually overperforming for most people who get it, at about 4-5%. Meaning if say a 45% would be playing this, they could easily have this tank at 50% due to how grossly overtuned this thing is. But hey, if that isn't WoT, I don't know what is :D
Come on... Tortoise cupola can be easily hit by heavy tanks at 100m, and tanks with good accuracy can hit it at +300m semi-reliably, especially if the tank isn't moving. It's one of the biggest weakpoints in higher tiers. Of course without it the tank would be outright overpowered, and it is overperforming still. But I don't think it's even remotely a problem, the thing has an oldschool weakpoint to begin with, where today most tanks don't. And I think the overperforming of the tortoise isn't a toxic overperforming, unlike some certain tanks, it's just a result of tank being quite idiot proof and the average player being progressively worse and worse as years pass by, people just cannot deal with it.
@@melonduofromage6058 I can see your point. A weakpoint is still a weakpoint considering the rather... questionable top tier meta environment we have at the moment. That saying, you are doomed if the tortoise manages to activate the second braincell it has and discovers about wiggling. then yer in trouble ;)
Shooting gold with E3 is actually a pretty good choice. 5200 credits for 750 damage is cheap compared to lets say 4800 credits for ~400 damage you get in most tanks. Not to talk about obj 140 which will lose credits even when shooting regular ammo.
Great fun video. It would also be funny if you had calculated the cost of all the gold rounds the enemies fired at the E3 in the game, because that would also be a substantial amount :)
If I'm not mistaken, both the AE Phase 1 and the 703 II were basically pushed out into the line of fire by bunghole teammates in the ST-I and Lowe. Also, since I'm already typing, the Tortoise killed the Lowe well before the 50TP got to the corner.
There's a very easy fix for w.o.t gold ammo problem. Remove it from t10 tanks. Annnd boom massively improves the relationship with the veteren fans of the game, and at the same time not interfering with any of the "new" players that WG want to rob all their money from. Yea t9 tanks still have it, perhaps more people will play t9 and skew the MM into giving more enjoyable games instead of a flood of t10
Jingles you should see current ranked season. From all games I have played I was only once hit with standard ammo and then even that man switched to premium. And I’ve played more than I want to confess. You get like 4 Kranwagn’s on the ridge joined with two STB-1 and occasional vz55 plus someone takes a TD. Mostly if team splits you lose while other team pushes one side together and you get f-ed in 4 minutes. Than you have those that want to lose, separate and hide and snipe just to be top of the losing team to snatch the chevron. Finally you also get people that come with you and say they will support and then stop and pull back leaving you to die just to die one by one minute after it instead of pushing together with what was superior numbers on that flank. But no we are 6 tanks and they have 3 tanks so if we push it will hurt. Let’s stop and wait maybe we give the enemy the time that they kill our other flank with superior numbers and flank us and give us surprising but sex. And that all mostly happens in 3 to 5 minutes and with the golden shower rain of the premium ammo. Two STB-1 tanks hull down, who wins? One that brought more gold shells.
I fire very very few premium shells ( I try to play as much for free as I can) and I can still pen majority of tanks just fine, the key is firing at weak spots. I agree 80% of tier 10 players fire premium, though even in lower tiers, like 4-8, have been firing more premium the last few times ive played in them. Wouldnt be a bit surprised if the number of premium shell usage has climbed up closer to 25% overall. I try to win through skill while it seems others try to win with their bank account, no way some players can win at the rates they are without paying for all the credits and gold they purchase. I ripped through my credits super fast trying to do a few games with just premium shell loadouts and went at times 100k+ in the hole a game. Impossible to maintain without whipping out your bank card....
04:05 "It's going to be really bad news for the Lowe". I was going to say "dead tanks don't complain" but this is WoT and the battlechat is full of those.
me and my brother platoon in the luch and do drive bys with the machine gun for lols, it is very fun, every other tier and tank makes us want to uninstall.
Wow that battle chatter in the tortoise sure is something. As an American, I think it's fair to assume all British people actually sound like that and jingles uses a voice changer to keep the ruse up
Did anyone notice, that the Object 260 on the enemy team (in the second match), came second in his team for damage done (~5k). And yet, I don't believe a _single_ one of their shots were gold..... Gold ammo, the alternative to skill (and one of the two reasons I stopped playing WoT).
They reworked HE recently, so now it's about as effective as spitting on them (unless they have no armour, in which case it's basically guaranteed to penetrate)

I wonder how that statistic has changed. When I first heard about the 5%, I thought it could be possible if you include all the autoloaders in tiers I-III, but nowadays, when I visit lower tiers, meeting a Pz. I C that is not firing full APCR is a rare ocassion.
Tier 10 games are complete shitshow, and although I have most of tier 10 tanks, I stoped playing them due to toxicity of environment and stupidity of people with tier 10 tanks, that got them by loosing enough games and amassing enough expirience to unlock them. Keep myself at tier 9. As always MJ, good battles, and comments that hit the point!
I ground away at the Conway (tier 9) to get the FV4005. These days, whenever I can be bothered to play, I end up going back to the Conway. Pretty similar DPM, but the Conway can actually hit, and actually pen too.
I'm a rare breed. Only fire gold when I desperately need it or I'm out of AP in me e3. Once had a battle (I believe sent in the replay to you 3x iver 3 months jingles). I bounced over 11k damage and never fired a single round of gold either
I usually avoid tier 10 because of this. I tried ranked battles this year and I found it an absolute shit show - you are either dead VERY quickly or the other team is dead very quickly. Would like to get to Division 2 to get my grubby little paws on the reward tanks - but I think my sanity would suffer too much. Oh well.
Wait, wait- I think I got the difference. See, it's a very minor difference, hard to notice if you aren't paying attention... The audio on the second game is slightly less out of sync by the end than the first one.
I assume the statistics about gold ammo vs. standard ammo count a tier 2-4 autocannon round the same as a tier 10 170mm round, despite the fact that a tank may fire several hundred of the former versus perhaps a dozen of the latter in a given battle.
Who remembers Team battles with 5 t8's and 2 tier ones? The amount of shame i dished out with my mighty T1 cunningham with browning gun. When they lose to a starter tank, world chat was still a thing. Even the enemy team dogs their teammate for losing a 1v1 to it. Anything that had less then 50mm i was there plinking away.
Holy crap is that still going?? I might have to redownload that. I took a break from all tank things a few years back recently reinstalled WoT and thought AW was long gone
Day 9: My research has finally has shown results! The bush somehow has a symbiotic relationship with the tank! Hopefully during the next few days I can get more results. Fortunately the bush hasn’t suspected a thing.
There are some fun tier 7 tanks that stay useful at tier 9. Gotta check out Sprocket where you can build your own tanks. The game isn't fully playable yet, but already quite fun to play with.
to defend that 57 player, he was shooting AP earlier, but then saw the e3 and did the smart thing, load gold at a superior armored tank, cant tell if he was aiming for lower glacis though
Honestly, whether you need to fire gold at tier X or not really depends on the vehicle you're playing, for example in my Kranvagn, I barely fire any gold, even in ranked, since it's a fast tank with good armour that can make use of ridgelines to get shots in where other tanks couldn't, while in a tank like the ST-II, I feel like I need to fire more gold to do decently since it mainly faces other heavies front-on, which results in barely any options to penetrate enemies with standard ammo.
The problem with Tier 10 is that everything is so high in armour that standard ammo has an RNG of not penning when you hit a weak spot as funny as that sounds, yet when you sling 'gold' ammo at something it sticks like shit on a wall and goes through the weak spots easily.
That’s what I do. I go up the tech tree and research the tier 10 and don’t buy until it goes on sale. Once I do buy it, the tank sits in my garage and collects dust.
Yes, but the pen and damage are higher and more reliable with gold ammo. If you're not at Tier X a lot and don't know the weaknesses of each tank you face, gold ammo can allow you to get some damage in. The unicum players will still mop you up like a spilled soda, they're shooting gold too..
it has more than enough and if it doesn't, that gun has 1050 average damage roll on it's HE rounds, and it knocks out a lot of equipment and crew members, you know what to do with it:))) I honestly never use gold ammo in any vehicle, prem rounds make the game even more fast paced by allowing trying to angle your tank and outflank the enemy kinda "meh" and that dries the fun out of the match for me if a match doesn't get to the 10 minute mark it's kind of wasted time from my perspective

Nothing like the calming voice of our Great Salty Overlord to go to bed to
Agreed 👍
Amen 😇
Hey can you tell me how it came to be. I'm new here.
Good night and sweet dreams!
Just what I needed while battling insomnia across the pond. Well that and needed sleep. Amazing narration as always.
Relating to what Jingles said about enjoying the game but avoiding tier 10. Does anyone else just love playing vehicles around tier 5 and 6?
My reason is that I just love the battles around that tier. They feel like the perfect balance of stupid fun, skilled teammates, and competitiveness imo
This video just explained 50% of why i'd rather play ANYTHING ELSE than WOT
Try WoT Blitz. There, at least, P2W mechanisc are severely hindered by the average skill of the player base, so with any competence you wouldn't notice them.
@@ApusApus Yes but it 'Still' is P2W, Wargaming is just scummy in general
@@ApusApus Annihilator noises
@@neweclipz6595 Yeah, that thing was a nightmare (no pun intended). Though it seems somewhat uncommon at the moment.
This was more if you still want to play something with familiar mechanics.
Now we know--and knowing is half the battle!
I want to say I heard that value thrown around when I still played. in 2015. It's certainly not recent and I'm with you that the higher in tier you go, the higher the use of gold ammo is.
probably includes all the low tiers 1-5 where almost every tank can pen everything, might also include low tier bots that cant even use premium ammo
Also includes tanks which don't have any gold ammo.
@@warr666pigg what tank doesnt have gold ammo? I know only the m44 arty doesnt
I know my sleep schedule is crap when I am still awake and Jingles posts a video. (I live in central United States)
Jingles got this right. Playing for fun In WoT works if you gri.d to tier 7 & 8, maybe 9. Great tanks at those tiers and one doesn't need a bottomless supply of gold ammo.
After 5 years I am watching the mighty again. Good to be back
I have not touched any of my Tier 10 tanks in the last 3 months.
I was the E4 and i can confirm this man shoots a lot of gold
Hey boys it's Thom, was looking for your comments haha ;)
@@automathom5607 hahaha well would you look at that, the whole gang together in the youtube comments
So, if one shot costs 5200 and he got 10 rounds with him.... 10x5200=57200 right?
Jingels, please never change!
I love the Cobra Commander! I think he's hilarious.
In defense of the T-57, the first shot they hit giggitee with is actually AP. They then proceed to empty a clip of HEAT into him.
Thank you Jingles for those entertaining replays.
Ah yes the Tortoise commanders hatch. The "weakspot" that still seems to bounce anything that isn't a tier 10 loading gold
This is what I love 2 battles in 1 video
Understand the bigger knife reference? Jingles, according to my dad, it stemed from a distant relative of my family. She was working in a book shop when a guy tried to rob her at knife point. Family legend has it she said "oh, you have a knife, well I got a bigger one!" turned around and grabbed the cutting arm off a broken paper cutter, and chased him down the street with it. The story was featured in a news paper when the movie was being made and the producers decided to do a play on it. Again, can't confirm since I am too lazy to research it myself, but its fun to think its true. Any who, thanks for your content.
about to sleep -> jingles uploads -> no sleep for me
When I played WOT I often ended up selling a tier 10 in a line to drop back down to the tier 9 because I won more matches and had more fun in the tier 9. (WZ-111-1-4 for example)
Jingles missed the opportunity to call him Jack-O-pose
The E3 player was a bad shot and literally didn't need half the gold rounds he fired.
I love the Cobra commander, his lines are hilarious.
Chris Latta’s voice was an inspiration to many
If I'm not mistaken, both the AE Phase 1 and the 703 II were basically pushed out into the line of fire by bunghole teammates in the ST-I and Lowe.
The planners building the Tortoise -- "Well that's the body armour sorted. Now where do we put this biscuit tin?"
Thank you for your Work, Mr. Jingles
I love how jingles calmly says Gigity throughout the entire second battle lol
Got back into WoT recently. Platoon only, low tier only, mostly Luchs platoons. Fun again 😁
me and my brother platoon in the luch and do drive bys with the machine gun for lols, it is very fun, every other tier and tank makes us want to uninstall.
Wasn't Gold ammo like 20 000 credits per round? ( I haven't played in years) If it only costs 5200 per round it's no wonder its usage has gone up.
Just what I needed after a long night shift on the railways
Wow that battle chatter in the tortoise sure is something. As an American, I think it's fair to assume all British people actually sound like that and jingles uses a voice changer to keep the ruse up
Did anyone notice, that the Object 260 on the enemy team (in the second match), came second in his team for damage done (~5k). And yet, I don't believe a _single_ one of their shots were gold.....
Gold ammo, the alternative to skill (and one of the two reasons I stopped playing WoT).
That low life e-100. While not having played WoT in years I was telling the dude to just slap a HE round on it. Should do the trick.
They reworked HE recently, so now it's about as effective as spitting on them (unless they have no armour, in which case it's basically guaranteed to penetrate)
Gotta love a game where it's easily possible to Win a match do really good in it and make a massive Dept at the end. 😎
Might Jingles having watch a TH-cam video on naval operations just beforehand Desert Storm, I found out you used to be in the naval forces, while I was in the US Army. So now I watch your WoT's videos with a great deal more interest, Brother. By the way I'm IRISHTOM, CC of MLVET Clan. LOL HOOAH AATW!!!!
I think they meant it to be the 5% of the tanks weight in gold ammo :D
Tortoise goes so fast, the sound of the gun firing only gets to us a couple seconds later.
XD I have a Tortoise farm a couple blocks from me! There is a 150 lb. monster in the back yard that hardly moves except when there is food near her and the little ones are adorable!
I remember a few years back (4 i think) when i was playing my superpershing and people called me a cheater/goldspammer because apparently that is what you are when you have some knowledge of weakpoints and they do not and keep bouncing of the fake cupola .. also lovely video jingels :)
I have cobra commander on one of my lights (although it's a cold-war era tank which pc doesn't have). Never gets old
I regret selling my tortoise for the credits to afford the death-star, best 120mm in the game hands down
My favorite tank in the game
I regret selling it for the badger, that game in video was one of my last games ever in that beauty
I like 'Cobra Commander' for one reason only @Jingles - GI Joe was a big part of my childhood :)
@@vermis8344
I think I had my best game ever in Conway, with 120mm gun. Really nice TD.
anyone else having a huge ass sound problem with this video, like the sound of him shooting and kill something is a few seconds after he does it?
I'm a rare breed. Only fire gold when I desperately need it or I'm out of AP in me e3. Once had a battle (I believe sent in the replay to you 3x iver 3 months jingles). I bounced over 11k damage and never fired a single round of gold either
That's how I play, I only carry like 3 or 4 rounds of it. Just incase I have to deal with a way higher tiered tank than my own.
"Which is really likely to be bad news for the Lowe"... the Lowe...that Jacko killed before the 50TP ever got to that corner :O
Gotta love Cobra Commander TC. His voice takes me back to my childhood. 🐍
Can we get some love for the voice, the legend and pacifist - Cmdr Deluvian. Who embarks on the greatest journey in Elite Dangerous to day.
Jingles... can we get some more of the HMS TOG adventures?
3:30am still havent made it out of the coal mine, please send water and supplies overlord jingles
Wait you get water & supplies....?
Never mind Jingles, I'm sure that Serb was having a 'Jingles moment' and mixed up his figures.
It's 5% standard ammo and 95% premium!
Glad I went back to armoured warfare
It may be smaller, but damn if it doesn't just feel better
Holy crap is that still going??
I might have to redownload that. I took a break from all tank things a few years back recently reinstalled WoT and thought AW was long gone
@@PassionsDemise Yeah it's still running!
It's just suffering player-numbers wise but it's still up
That ammo price counter reminded me of Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man. Cost of Bullets scene.
The sheer amount of gold being fired at that second match made Donald Trump's gold shitbowl look like brass in comparison
Somehow watching the Tortoise rolling along dishing destruction made me think "exterminate, exterminate!
Jingles you counted one of the E100's shots as one for the E3.. so the actual total would be 5200 less.
Jingles was in the Navy, they don't need to know that 5200 x 10 is 52000 (essentially just adding a Zero to the end of 5200)
"that's not a knife" this is a knife" *thug proceeds to run away* classic comedy lol love those films
13:11 was actually the E100 to the left that fired, not the T110E3.
Day 9:
My research has finally has shown results!
This is a great new episode of BLACKMAIL
Doesn’t the t110e3’s standard ammunition have more than enough penetration to get through the armor of most tier ten tanks?
Yes, but the pen and damage are higher and more reliable with gold ammo. If you're not at Tier X a lot and don't know the weaknesses of each tank you face, gold ammo can allow you to get some damage in. The unicum players will still mop you up like a spilled soda, they're shooting gold too..
it has more than enough
and if it doesn't, that gun has 1050 average damage roll on it's HE rounds, and it knocks out a lot of equipment and crew members, you know what to do with it:)))
I honestly never use gold ammo in any vehicle, prem rounds make the game even more fast paced by allowing trying to angle your tank and outflank the enemy kinda "meh" and that dries the fun out of the match for me
if a match doesn't get to the 10 minute mark it's kind of wasted time from my perspective
I only carry 5 rounds of heat in my Jageroo, and its ammo costs 7200 credits a round. I call loading those "Losing my dignity."
4:04 : “The 50TP pushed on ahead which is likely to be really bad news for the Löwe”
3:48 : we watch the Löwe get destroyed by the Tortoise a whole 16 seconds before.
Oh Jingles, never change!
I was trying to find this comment...nothing has changed over the years when it comes to Jingles, has it?
I love the gold spammers at T10 when I'm in a Russian/Chinese heavy - those plonkers who don't understand spaced armour.
Jingles math: 10 Rounds of Gold Ammo, each one costs 5200 credits.... to a total of (according to Jingles) 57200 Credits
Me: wait.. what?............... well its Jingles, pleas never change^^
Cobra voice over is clutch!
I can tell Jingles isn't a CC anymore. Let the salt flow! ;)
That first tank sounds like Cobra Commander...
Edit: Thanks for the confirmation Jingles!
Could someone help me out with the math for the credits column at 17:53? Something doesn't seem to quite add up.
