One thing Jingles fails to realise is that even with the ammunition buff, it's still impossible to kill all tanks in a practical scenario. 20 rounds of ammunition is simply not enough in the 1v29 games that are ever so common in random battles.
According to Wikipedia, Finland bought 30 Panzer IV in 1944 (only 15 delivered), so there might have been a couple on the Mannerheim Line fighting the Russians.
And actually Jingles... Germans also provided a ton of Stug III's to Finland during the Continuation War. Which we ended up using against them in the Lapland War.
To add to the complexity of history, Mannerheim also served in Russian army before becoming the commander of the Finnish army. But that was the Imperial Russian army and not the Soviet army the Mannerheim Line was constructed to defend against. Are we confused yet? :D edit: And about that Panxer IV wreck in the map. During the Continuation War against the Soviets (June 1941 - September 1944) Finland bought 15 Pz IV Ausf J:s from Germany, so those tanks could have appeared in the map, even though in practise the tanks never got to see action in that front.
And Mannerheim wasn't a Swede he was born in Askainen back in the day when Finland was part of Russia. He was part of the Swedish speaking Finns. Jingles next time do the fact lookup better. I know that you seen the Wiki page, you took the picture from there...
To add insult to an injury, Finns sided with Germany in WW2 (albeit under pressure and not until the end of it) so there were a plenty of German tanks in and around Finland at that time.
"...featuring knocked out German tanks that never fought anywhere within a thousand miles of the Mannerheim Line" Uhm, Jingles, you realize Leningrad is like 90km away from the Line?
Except that no Pz. IV saw service on Karelian front and Finnish armed forces didn't have any before the "Mannerheim line" collapsed in 1944. www.porsimo.net/fb/info/armored.htm Here's a good article on Finnish armored forces during WW2. Pay no attention to last column tho as Finland and USSR signed peace treaty in september of 1944.
I think he's pointing out that the Germans would have had Pz. IV at the siege of Leningrad, so the tanks would have fought well within a thousand miles of the Mannerheim.
Actually Jingles! Mannerheim was born in Finland (born 4 June 1867) when Finland (Finland became part of Russia in 1809) was part of Russia so he'd be Russian. He also server in Russian army. BUT he choose return to Finland when Finland declared itself independent and that way he got Finnish citizenship. Yes his familys aristochratic roots are in Sweden but that doesn't make him a Swedish person. Oh and his ancestor emigrated to Sweden from Germany... so... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Gustaf_Emil_Mannerheim I suggest you read the wiki on him :) And one more thing, Finland did have Panzer IV tanks during WW2, though none made it to the eastern front, so a fair point that none of them should be on that Mannerhein Line map. But they were "used" in some extend when Finland had to drive out the Germans from Lapland after the peace treaty with the Soviets in 1944-45, a war called Lapland War. Cheers!
Haven't played WoT in years. Anytime I get the thought to do so, I get a Jingles video and get to see the game is still populated by glue eating, paint sniffing individuals. Thank you Jingles, you have saved me from multiple brain aneurysms. You are an evil gnome, but we love ya!

Jingles, put your shotgun away and listen carefully because I say this only once: Carl Gustaf was named after factory → Carl Gustaf Stads Gevärsfaktori. Name of that factory means "Weapons Factory of Carl Gustaf's town" and refers to the Eskilstuna town which received city privileges from Swedish king Karl X Gustav. It means that Carl Gustaf was named after Swedish king, not Swedish baron.
First of all a big and well deserved GG to the man in FV. Now about that arty that "was shooting only joonasa" - he was at the time the only tank in the open for enemy arty to shoot at, sooooo yeah....but the same as you dear Jingles, I too enjoyed the tank flipping trick presented to us by 212A. Why? Maybe I'm not as evil as you (or maybe I'm worse), but sky pigs deserve no empathy :P. It was as always a pleasure to watch another of your videos Jingles, waiting for the next one :).
Steamrick it's nice to carry a few rounds of AP for those times when a superheavy is sitting on 700-1000 ish HP where you just want to secure the kill instead of splashing for 500 damage. But yeah, it's a platform for firing HESH. If you don't carry a lot of HESH you're playing it wrong.
I don't know Jingles, though the FV 4005 might be the size of the Eiffel Tower and it has armor that a person's fart could penetrate, it has good mobility and it has a 180 degree firing arc, and that AP round ... Still, though I would have liked to have gotten the FV 215B 183, the FV 4005 doesn't look that bad to me, not to mention the Charioteer and the Conway are on the way to it, both of which I am eager to get, especially the Charioteer; a cromwell with a tier 10 medium tank gun? Yes please. However, I am glad that I managed to get the Foch 155 before it became a reward-ish tank; ammo racking Wz 111-14s by firing HE at their undercarriage is quite fun I have to admit.
Silverslicer people are funny they call fv4005 shit barn but the skorpion g is some how a great td lmao. It’s called German bias...germans have a strange obsession with their shitty tanks
sorry to brake it to you but the charioteer is pretty shit, the aim time kills the machine since you cant connect any shots where the target is visible for less than 2.5 secs and/or moving
Hey, he did add the disclaimer that the name simply stuck, and that it's not shit anymore. It absolutely 100% used to be complete shit though. The aimtime, mobility, even the reload used to be far worse. That thing was absolute shit. No armor and bad camo means it's only good in situations where you can pop out and ambush when enemies are distracted/reloading, but the old mobility and weapon handling meant you had to sit in the open for AGES waiting for it to aim before you could fire. It was shit.
So I was browsing the internet when I discovered there are quite a few places where you can basically rent a tank to drive around. Apparently one called Drive-A-Tank has a Chieftain MBT. It is in Minnesota, USA. For something closer to the UK, The Irish Military War Museum has an option to drive around an APC, it is in Ireland.
The funny thing is: That first shot "missing" the Löwe and seemlingly going into nowhere did actually hit the Caernarvon :) Thats why his damage is not on 7910+1650(E3) = 9560 but on 10k+ :)
high explosive shells dont lose penetration over distance. Also it is entirely possible he didnt penetrate fully, even if the angle of the armor allowed for greater than 230 plus or minus 25% massive damage would still be dealt. Ex. KV2 152mm gun 86mm penetration HE, hits a tiger 100mm front hull armor flat 300 to 600 damage could still be expected.
The concern wasnt with losing pen at distance, rather that penetrating Lowe with 230 frontally with the limited ability to aim at weakpoints at the distance is very lucky. Also I am pretty sure it had to be a pen, not just splash.
HESH, like HE and HEAT, often travel at a significantly slower velocity than any type of AP and APCR. Because of this, they tend to have to be fired in an arc. What most likely happened was that the HESH either hit a part of the Lowe's turret that was flat, or it hit the upper glacis, but because of the arc causing the shell to land from above, enough of the sloping of the upper glacis was negated to allow the HESH shell to pen for full damage. Oh, and of course, rng gave him enough pen to go through in the first place.
I love these names. I don't even play WoT anymore, because I am kinda shit and I did not enjoy getting oneshot every now and then, or loosing to my team. Also, all my tanks were worse than the tanks that were newly introduced in the game, be them Tier 10 or premium tanks... So I kinda lost interest. But you? You make this game look glorious. And I know that you play more World of Warships yourself, so... I guess you know how I feel. Also, I've picked up WoWS thanks to you. I play it every evening now and it's a good experience. Missed something like that in my routine. Thanks!
Slow the video down to .25 speed at 2:15 and look at that shot on the Lowe again. Shell clearly impacts the upper front plate but yet goes straight through the tank.
Nope, it's called frame skipping and this problem comes from encoding the video. Jingles should change priority on high for his encoding program (may be using OBS and he has the option in Settings/Advanced/Process Priority).
ACTUALLY Jingles! Mannerheim wasn't swedish at all. His first language was swedish though, but he was born in Finland. Also the Carl Gustaf recoilles rifle has absolutely nothing to do with Mannerheim (it derives from the name of a Swedish king). I'm pretty sure you're doing this just to rile up people...you can't be that clueless!
Oh yes, people always forget that there was actual German units too in Finland. To be fair, Germans were afraid of forests and were often utterly useless.
Actually Jingles, the Finns bought 30 Panzer IV J (the destroyed tank in the map) and had half of them delivered in December 1943, just before the the Soviet Offensive of 1944. Also on the other side of the mountain on "A line" of Mannerheim Line map, is the Karelia map based :)
Jingles. I love watching and listening to you. So chilled out. I wish you were my grand pop. Don’t get offended, you’re old and I don’t have grandparents anymore. I watch you when I’m going to bed. I get to watch what I like, and her a cool chilled out dude.
I'm just imagining the Mannerheim Line filled with thousands of Imperial Stormtroopers and Grand Moff Tarkin commanding the FV going: Troops, you may fire when ready>
Well Finns probably had Panzers at the imaginary location where this map is supposed to be. But the new hills... There is no way that those mountains or even ones like those exist either in Finland or Russia!
Jingles, the Finns operated Panzer IVs. Not in the Winter War, but as the Mannerheim line shifted into Soviet hands during the Karelian Offensive it's not impossible to see a Panzer IV there. Also, Mannerheim was born in Askainen, Finland when it was in the Russian Empire as the Grand Duchy of Finland. His ancestor was from Germany and emigrated to what was the Swedish Empire, which later became part of the Russian Empire and then finally Finland. Now that we've toured Europe, let's all go to Moscow and pick up some vodka while we're at it.
hello, evil old gnome^^. it was nice to meet you at tiger day. and thx for mentioning the portsmouth historic dockyard. it was well worth the trip, although, we 2 "small" germanz, had a hard time on the lower decks from hms victory. I swear, they have built this ship for midgets^^.
The Pz.IV of Army Group North who were on the Leningrad frontline were closer than 1000 miles of the Mannerheim line. A few hundred miles at most, it's just that there was a bunch of Soviets between them and the Finns.
you forgot to mention that prior to WWII, Mannerheim made a career in the Imperial Russian Army, rising to the rank of lieutenant general. He also had a prominent place in the ceremonies for Tsar Nicholas II's coronation. he really got around
Mannerheim was Finnish. Swedish-finnish as most of the elite in Finland was in those days, but Finnish none the less. From Wiki: "The Mannerheim family came to Finland, then an integral part of Sweden, in the latter part of the 18th century.". As a matter of fact, the familiy originated from Germany.
Oh, Jingles, German Tanks were well present at the Mannerheim line, The Germans lent a bunch of StuGs and Pzkpfw III and IVs to finland to use against Russia in the Winter and Continuation wars, thus the knocked out Pzkpfw IV on the map
Jingles, Im pretty sure Germans supplied the Finns with some armor as well as other equipment. Not 100% sure about the winter war, but certainly by the time of continuation war, thats why they were fighting with StuGs by that time. That could certainly explain Panzer (fighting around that area toward middle/end of WWII).
There's a great Finnish movie (English subtitles) about the find trying to defend against the Russians, has them using stuggs to nock out is1s and kv2s which they then repair and use against the Russians. It's on TH-cam if anyone wants to look for it.
jingles i am almost certain the carl gustav rocket launcher was named after any swedish king in the long line of swedish kings named carl and/or gustav
Those two TDs were only safe because artillery has't moved to lover right corner, as it's a balance between taking a good aim at some spot and changing a position, many choose to stay put, as most SPGs are not exactly fast. Also it's pretty clear why "Death Star" was targeted by opposing artillery - guys in lower right corner are in cower, until they drive around the rock.
Mr jingles, Finland bought 30 panzer 4 from Germany during ww2, although they only delivered about half of these. The Finns also purchased a number of other German fighting vehicles... the stug iii at Bovington is another example.
Achtchually Jingles, Germany did export about 300 Panzer IVs to Finland. And their color scheme isn't too different, not sure if the Finns used Schürzen though(which this knocked out Panzer has); so it may be historically accurate after all.
Jingles, Äctshually, the Finns purchased quite a few german tanks (especially Stugs) during the Continuation War. So, while it may be a rare sight, the Pz.IV wreck does have some historic plausability
Hey, I actually get to say it! *ahem!* Actually Jingles, Finland had used German tanks (as well as captured Soviet tanks) during WWII; Finland was given only about 15 PzIV Ausf Js, but they had 59 StuG IIIs as well (wracking up an impressive 87 Soviet tank kills to just 8 lost StuGs). As I recall, Finland was one of the few nations that fought on both the Axis and Allied sides in the war.
Well, actually Jingles... Pz IV's Did fight within 1000 miles of the Mannerheim line. Se Germens ;-) made it all the way to St. Petersburg which is only about 50 miles from the Mannerheim line :-)
Mannerheim was born in Finland, during the time when it was a Russian Grand Duchy, as part of the Swedish speaking minority. He got his military training and served for the Russian army for thirtry years until Finland got tired of being Russians and left. I just finished reading the book "Finlands sex krig" ("Finlands six wars", only avaiable in Swedish I think.) about Mannerheim and Finlands history as a free and independent country. He fought for Russia in the war between Russia and Japan and later the first World War before he left for Finland and fought agains the Soviet Union in two wars and against Gemany later on. I can recomend the movies "Framom främsta linjen" (English title "Beyond enemy lines"), "Tali-Ihantala 1944" and "Talvisota" ("The winter war") as quite good films made in Finland about the war.
That missed shot at the Löwe at the start though, it hit someone :) 7915+1650 (e3 health) is less than 10k. So the caernaerveron ate 646 from that first miss.
Jingles, Finland had Panzer 4 J. They didn't see action against russians but saw actions durint the lapland war against the germans. Also the map design might be inspired by Salpa Linja , that run from south to north, and north is in lapland so...loop holes and plausabilities...
I can't resist but Finland had purchased and received 15 Panzer 4's in 1944. Not sure if they saw combat when the Russian attacked and breached the Mannerheim line but Finland did have them.
Well Finland did buy some Panzer IVs towards the end of the war. Whether they were ever present on the Mannerheim line is another question though. Knowing that most maps are a collection of different elements inspired by actual objects (long time ago Wargaming even made several articles showing real life objects that served as an inspiration for pre-1.0 Ensk and Himmelsdorf) rather than exact representation of particular place, i would guess that "38_mannerheim_line" doesn't mean anything more than "Finnish-themed map". That's why it remains but an internal name for the map file.
Mannerheim was Finnish and spoke swedish, he also was presiden in Finland from 1944-1946. And by the way finding Finns speaking Swedish is like finding canadians speaking frensh.
*Fires a shot at Lowe.

*A wild Caernavron appears with 800hp.

@Zachary Arturo Nobody cares.

yea me too, I just call them blockades
Jinx the Loose Cannon that's a waste of a great bit of military nomenclature
That is the first time I see someone call it that way, lmao :D.

HE(SH) doesnt lose pen ;)
There are some areas around the gun mantlet that he could've penned, especially under the mantlet. Or Hesh just did its thing and penned the roof

Oh yes, people always forget that there was actual German units too in Finland. To be fair, Germans were afraid of forests and were often utterly useless.
Gotta love the history lessons Jingles gives
Another amazing video of World of Tanks, as always thanks for your awesome work and keep it up.
Thanks for the great birthday video, keep it up!
Oooh. A Deathstar video. This'll be interesting. Thank you, Jingles :D
Entertaining and educational as always. Thanks for posting. :D
Is it me, or are the frames in video dropping?
I thought that it was from me, but nope. Something's up with the video
FarmingtonS9 I was just looking to see if anyone else was having that issue it seems at times it's only running around 20fps
Saem
Video may not have been rendered by TH-cam yet
Hi Mighty Jingles,
one more fun fact to this map. This map got active katjushas missile strikes, but they are incoming from the west of the map.
Jia Jun Oh Grand Moff Tarkin*
And zero Russian tanks were hit.
Somebody needs to draw that.
Well Finns probably had Panzers at the imaginary location where this map is supposed to be. But the new hills... There is no way that those mountains or even ones like those exist either in Finland or Russia!
True thats like a fucking mount everest
Since I was 11 years old, it is literally impossible for me to read that phrase without hearing Peter Cushing's voice in my head. :-)
On the console it still only carries 12 rounds. I didn’t know the PC version was different
Good video Jingles, I liked the brief history lesson at the end. thank you for sharing. Matt C
My Death Star on console still has a maximum of 12 rounds. I haven't slept in a long time
Germany actually did export some panzer iv's to Finland (it was something of an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" situation for Finland).
Great! A new video for my meal making background amusement.
The Pz.IV of Army Group North who were on the Leningrad frontline were closer than 1000 miles of the Mannerheim line. A few hundred miles at most, it's just that there was a bunch of Soviets between them and the Finns.
Wow! Jingles noticed that the 212a flipped! Surprises surprises
omg, i was a player who stopped playing in 2016, and now I don't even recognize Mannerheim line anymore, it took me until 1:56
you forgot to mention that prior to WWII, Mannerheim made a career in the Imperial Russian Army, rising to the rank of lieutenant general. He also had a prominent place in the ceremonies for Tsar Nicholas II's coronation. he really got around
Jingles, Finland did buy several panzer ivs and stug iiis. And the gustav is a recoilless rifle, not a rocket launcher. Less burning, more exploding
Wargaming: "212A has been overturned."
Junassa: JUSTICE!!!!!!!!
Oh, Jingles, German Tanks were well present at the Mannerheim line, The Germans lent a bunch of StuGs and Pzkpfw III and IVs to finland to use against Russia in the Winter and Continuation wars, thus the knocked out Pzkpfw IV on the map
The 212A flipped lol. Favourite part.
Last time i was this early, jingles still played World of tanks
2:15 is what is wrong with the current patch. The shot was on target but hit the hitbox of the mountain. They need to fix this asap.
Yay! History with Jingles!
Watching things get death star'd. Always satisfying
Sweet getting the jingles vid before work :D
I think that first shot that ghosted against the Lowe hit the Carn. Look at the post game.
Well, actually Jingles... Pz IV's Did fight within 1000 miles of the Mannerheim line. Se Germens ;-) made it all the way to St. Petersburg which is only about 50 miles from the Mannerheim line :-)
You triggered me with the Carl Gustav RR. Fun to fire is you enjoy concussive blast overpressure
GOD I wish I had this tank
That missed shot at the Löwe at the start though, it hit someone :) 7915+1650 (e3 health) is less than 10k. So the caernaerveron ate 646 from that first miss.
tx evil jingles, love this one!
Mighty Jingles sounds so much like the actor Roger Rees, who I like. He's from the UK too. Anyways, nice video. Thumbs up!
Right at the beginning when he shot the Lowe he actually hit the caernarvon who was unspotted for some odd reason
And by the way finding Finns speaking Swedish is like finding canadians speaking frensh.
fun fact at the end there made the video for me. more of those please.
