I still think Lord Shen is the most evil villain. He genocided pandas even the childern, kill at least 15 people (after he returned)+his own soldiers, used the thing he wanted to destroy to his own purposes (used Kung fu in his own elegant, quick and deadly style), destroyed half of the city with even his own family palace, disrespected his dead parents and that elder future sight goat, wanted to conquer the entire Chine under his tyranny, didn’t give up even after he was defeated and that guy throws knives+he has knives on his feet like some peacock Freddy Krueger.

Well technically Gorg was more of an anti-villain/extremist and tragic than the exterminator (Although I have no idea who he is).
Well in the end the planet destroyer wasn't bad, but the frog, humpty, dave and the lion being more evil than general baseball? Man the guy was a mass murderer and almost a hittler like leader

Lord Shen was vile and easily slides into #1. Grimmel killed dragons. So did Stoick. Grimmel was just really good at killing night furies in particular. Shen, upon hearing a very vague prophecy of his death, committed genocide. Grimmel was doing it because dragons were attacking humans, and his peers applauded him for his efforts. Shen is the most evil. By miles.
Also, the priest guy from El Dorado definitely belongs on this list

Yeah, Shen was hella evil. He did genocide, caused childhood trauma to po, killed his wolf assistant, killed the rhino, disrespects his parent's deaths. He's got the balls to murder someone on camera.

Shen did show to care about certain people. He cared about the Soothsayer and his parents. He was also willing to accept his fate in the end.

@@WhyTho525 Yeah Grimmel was willing to have all of Berk destroyed just so he can kill one dragon which shows how selfish and petty he is. Also he wants to kill all the Night Furies because why again exactly? At least with Shen he did it because he thought it would change his fate. Also Grimmel is a backstabber as he doesn't keep his end of the deal with the 3 warlords who hired him to capture and bring Toothless to them alive he just pisses off in his dragon flying thing taking Toothless with him leaving the warlords to deal with the heroes.

Shen is a deeper character while Grimmel is a more active threat since the movie doesn't make him out as a fool sometimes like out KFP 2 did with Lord Shen, Lord Shen has a more developed backstory. I'm more fond of the KFP Trilogy so I like Lord Shen more but Grimmel is a very good villain.
Something that was missed in regards to the Fairy Godmother that could dock her some points.

Shen literally thought outside the box to exterminate Kung Fu and just blew it all up, that's why he's the best lol
Even as a kid I was sympathetic toward Rameses, despite siding with Moses. Rameses grew up under pressure from his father to be a strong leader, and he ruled his kingdom the way he was taught was the right way. Then his brother, who was his best friend growing up and who suddenly ran off on him and disappeared into the desert for years, suddenly shows up demanding that he free the slaves, which goes against the ideologies they were both raised with. From Rameses's point of view, his brother abandoned him, betrayed him, brought the plagues to Egypt, and caused the death of his son. Rameses may be a villain, but the ending where he's screaming Moses's name across the Red Sea, and Moses sadly whispers "Goodbye, brother" is genuinely heartbreaking.
Dreamworks did an amazing job showing the pain Rameses was in, and how he felt that by refusing Moses he was being strong and doing what was right for Egypt and his people. Truly heartbreaking scene.

Literally like I'm not saying that what rameses did was ok. I mean he enslaved thousands of jews only for his own personal gain to make a greater Egypt than his father. He was just doing what he was born to do. As the eldest son of the pharaoh he grew up being taught that u have to be a great and powerful leader. Rameses was 2nd in line, like what was he supposed to do, ignore his father and just do whatever he wanted. Egypt would've been so weak and everyone would've thought that Rameses was the weak link in dynasty. I still side with Moses though because all he wanted to do was bring peace and free the jews. Rameses on the other hand was gonna kill the jews even after he said that they could go, and then proceeds to attempt to kill them even after he said he wouldn't. Dreamworks did so good for their 2nd villain. Not many writers can make such compelling and evil villains, but Dreamworks sure can

@@BroZilla-vh3tu Drago is great but his character sadly suffered due to poor decisions by the developers. First he was brought into the franchise much earlier then intended. He was first planned to be the antagonist for the 3rd but had a presence in the 2nd while Valka was supposed to be the 2nd film's villain. This went pear shaped because of an angry test audience so they re-did the story by making Valka good and bringing in Drago. But they obviously focused too much on Valka and not a lot of time on Drago which is why comes off as not very fleshed out, comes in very late into the film and why his backstory never goes anywhere.
Dean DeBlois himself admitted Drago came off as flat and he's supposed to be a lot more complex and deep then he looks
But if you think that's where it ends.....oh no. Drago was supposed to return in the Hidden World revealing he survived and was gonna go through a character and redemption arc in order to make up for his flat portrayal and show off the traits he never got a chance to in the 2nd. But nope this all got scrapped too.
Drago could have been amazing if the developers gave him a chance and used his full potential.
I don't care if Drago's redemption was scrapped from The Hidden World this is enough to push him down the evil scale just a tad bit more. Besides there's no solid proof he's dead despite his removal from the plot. He could have just redeemed himself offscreen.
Drago always came across to me as he's just trying to get his happy ending in life but he sadly doesn't know how cuz of all the crap he went through as a child he knows nothing but fear, war, pain and suffering. He doesn't know how to enjoy life and Drago to be honest deserved better.

Jack Horner: I’m going to collectively end every one of these guys’ careers.
Interesting that Rumpelstiltskin shares similarities with previous Shrek villains.
• He is short and rules an empire with an iron fist (in an alternate universe) like Lord Farquaad, the main antagonist of the first movie.
• Rumpelstiltskin has magical powers and had a business that helped characters alter their fates like the Fairy Godmother, the main antagonist of the second movie.
• Rumpelstiltskin had his life ruined by Shrek's rescuing Princess Fiona and sought revenge on Shrek, like Prince Charming, the main antagonist of the third film.

I think Shen was more evil than Grimmel.
While both of them are AWFUL people, and both committed(Or at least came close to) genocide, and both were extremely cruel(With Grimmel threatening to destroy Berk just to kill Toothless), there are a few things that I think make Shen worse.
Grimmel saw his dragon hunting as a game, and he was seemingly just after the glory of being the guy that killed every last night fury.
Shen, on the other hand, RELISHED in how horrible he was. Grimmel stabbed, but Shen twisted the knife and loved every second of it. The dude traumatized Po, who at the time, thought both of his parents were dead. And Shen went on to to drive into him that his parents never loved him. Grimmel, at the very least, was willing to TRY and negotiate with Hiccup, and even was going to let him and the main characters live after he took Toothless and the Light Fury. Shen in that situation probably would have killed them anyways, or even tried to kill Toothless in FRONT of Hiccup because of how much of a deranged sadist he is.
Grimmel was cruel and heartless and didn't care who he hurt or killed to get what he wanted, but Shen was just straight-up sadistic and took pleasure in all the pain he caused.
That's the big difference. Not caring, VS actively /enjoying/ the suffering he caused.
Both of them are horrible people, and both DEFINITELY deserve the top 2, but I think Shen deserves first place.

For the fairy godmother, also note that she was the (most likely) reason for the ogre curse on Fiona, had her locked away and did this all to set her up with Prince Charming to be part of ruling the kingdom... Super evil and manipulative.

The fairy grandmother had 1 goal
1: protecting what SHE believed was the integrity of fairy tales
In fairy tales the princess marries the prince and she was dead set to make it be as such, that required forcing the marriage and killing shrek
She had what she believed to be a noble goal, unlike Prince charming or many other villains in this list who just do shit out of spite
She was essentially a boomer

Pitch Black has a pretty tragic backstory if you've read the books. I'm not sure if they're canon or not, but he had a daughter (presumably Mother Nature from what I've read). He used to be in a golden army and was acually good. Until the Nightmares mimicked the cries of his daughter to lure him into the prison they were kept in and once he released them, they took over him and he became Pitch Black. He's honestly pretty interesting. Also, I think Shen should have been number one, but second spot still isn't bad.

I was surprised when Lord Shen got second place. He committed genocide, murder, probably arson due to the cannons, and probably many more. When Po says he can change, he (Shen) still tries to kill Po. Sure it could've been a "yeah I ain't winning thins, *but ignorance is bliss"* situation before he died. The thing I loved about the Penguins of Madagascar was the fact that Dave made various references to other famous people. Never gets old.
And whoever did his voice, really did a great job of making him funny, but also intimidating and sympathetic all at once.

A very, very late comment but I'm gonna say this:
Grimmel wasn't the only villian who succeeded in his goal.
Rumpelstiltskin also succeeded. His goal was to rule the kingdom of Far, Far, Away. After he made a deal with Shrek, he got exactly what he desired. All he to do was wait for Shrek to dissappear out if existence. It was only because Shrek found out the exit clause that he was able to take back the kingdom and get his life back. Unlike Grimmel however, his succession wasn't meant to last but it still counts.
Wonder where Big Jack Horner would land now that he’s here, he is apparently one of the most evil ones.

In my book, he'd be at number one. It's obvious isn't it, he's an irredeemable monster. Villains like Shen have reasons for their villainy, and despite Shen being pure evil, there is some sympathy in his character. But for Jack, he's a whole other breed, he's evil for the sake of being evil.
And I like him that way😀😀 he's probably number 4 in my top 10 fav DW villains.

Honestly Tai Lung vs Shifu is my favorite animated fight. It's just so emotional and beautiful.
A detail I would've liked to see mentioned about the Verminator is that after catching the critters, despite how hell-bent he was on catching them, he assured Gladys they would be "Disposed of as quickly and humanely as possible", before SHE insisted "No. NOT humanely. Because INhumanely is possible".

In my opinion, I think Fairy Godmother should've been way higher than Titan. Titan was kind of a hero.
I would place Professor Marmalade before Dr Zara. Place Jack Horner before Lord Shen. Place Chelsea (Nerissa) before Kai. And Death... he's just doing his job so I'm not picking him.

17:15 just some fun facts: bullfrogs and toads gather in huge groups when mating, and after they fertilize all of their eggs, the entire party usually flees, only leaving behing a strong male to look after the youngs until they hatch and become adults. So him being a male frog and looking after many tadpoles is kinda similar to how nature works.

I just love the way Shen's character looks, his voice tho, and I like his style when he throws those feather blade things. Definitely one of my favorite villians.
Usually I thought Prince Charming is Shrek's main archenemy yet I agree Rumpelstiltskin is more evil, a power-hungry oppressive tyrant and manipulative trickster, Walt Dohrn voiced him brilliantly

True, he really did no harm to the elderly goat as she was “serving” Lord Shen, even when Shen knows that she opposes him and knows that she predicts the same thing, he doesn’t kill her anyway tho still thinks she is useless to him. He is still evil nonetheless
Shows how good of a villain he is. If a villain is pure evil, it's not super interesting. However, one the audience starts to sympathize with them, their plans seems less evil. This, in and of itself, is one of the most terrifying things that a villain can do.
Lord Farquaad will always be my most favorite cartoon villain. I've always been a fan of him forever lol. I even have the McFarlane figure of him. I love his voice and I just love the design of his outfit. I wish he had appeared more in the franchise, and I definitely hope he comes back in Shrek 5.

In the HTTYD Movie universe the Green Death is a docile Dragon unlike the red death
Main reason Grimwald (doubt I spelled that right) is one of my favorite villains ever is because he's not only Hiccup's equal, he's his opposite. He's everything Hiccup could've been, would've been, if he chose a different action. There aren't many stories that actively explore the what if possibility. Oh sure, Marvel and DC have their what if spin-offs and cartoons have to battle evil versions of themselves all the time, but HTTYD3 has the hero in direct conflict with the one person who was practically his mirror image. He wasn't the sort of guy you just beat in one or two fights, then forget about, he played Hiccup like a fiddle the whole movie, even as Hiccup used trick and strategy he knew to keep the guy at arm's length. Hiccup and Grimwald were decidedly different characters, but they were alike in almost every fashion.
It ticks me off a bit that HTTYD 2 and 3 don't have anything carried from the Race to the Edge series aside from Hiccup's suite, Hiccup's sword, and Toothless's tail prosthetics design.
Especially in 3, Hiccup essentially gave up the dragons after meeting his near equal despite having faced multiple enemies that have given the one legged dragon tamer very similar challenges on multiple occasions in the previously stated Race to the Edge series.....

Seeing Fishlegs have his girlfriend retconned and simp for Ruffnut of all people in 2 hurt my soul, but I at least I could like 2 for introducing good characters in Hiccups mom and Rago along with their dragons.
I'll never watch 3 ever again for how butchered all the main cast was.
Here Hiccup is: with supposedly more experience, more dragons, and a whole village!
But when this dragon hunter that is as smart as him comes and threatens them with an army of ships, Hiccup decides his only option is to run and give up the dragons forever...
...as if he didn't spend a whole series in a similar predicament with nothing more then a makeshift island base and five other dragon raiders, and outright won in the end!

The only one of those villains names I can remember is Guy Gagne, the villain from Turbo. If I had to put him on the list, he'd probably be somewhere near the bottom. He's incredibly disrespectful and does have some murderous tendencies shown near the end of the movie, but those tendencies are toward a snail, which he has no idea is sentient. And the disrespectfulness aspect can still be attributed to him being a competitive race car driver. He's just another standard Jackson Storm or Jean Girard-type character. I also noticed the guy from El Dorado is missing, but I haven't watched that movie in forever, and I can't remember his name.

Fairy Godmother from Shrek is probably the most accurate portrayal of Fairies in children's media.
The fey folk are notorious jerks, playing some very cruel pranks/tricks on people and basically doing whatever whim strikes them. In fact, making a deal with a Fairy is probably just barely a step above making a deal with a Demon, and that's assuming they actually honor the deal. Fairies can take whatever they want in exchange, but they can't take your soul, as far as I'm aware, so payment to a Fairy is temporary, whereas a Demon's payment is eternal.
Where would Professor Marmalade and Jack Horner be if this list was updated?
My opinions:
On my list I would put Marmalade as more evil than Tai Lung but less evil than Fairy Godmother, and I’d put Jack as worse than Eris but less evil than Tighten.

Very late to reply, but: In the books (which I haven't read) Pitch used to be human and had a daughter. But it's been confirmed that the books and films are to be considered separate stories. It's implied that Movie-Pitch was never human like the Guardians, since he complains that they were "inserted" artificially into his world, and that he has been wreaking fear since the beginning of time. And to be honest, that's the way I like his character best. He isn't "evil" - he's a force of nature, and as such, he deserves to be forgotten as little as the Guardians. He is just as necessary as they are - it's all about keeping the balance.

Love that Professor Poopypants is on some of the top few of most evil. If the book version of him was in this, he would be a lot high up cause of how absolutely mad he is trying to kill Captain Underpants.
Slight problem with Chicken Run's Mrs Tweedy, while she does kill any chicken who fails to lay eggs, she and Mr. Tweedy simply eat the chicken afterwards. It was only later in the movie when she ordered and "built" (AKA: have Mr. Tweedy) the pie machine when she planned to systematically turn all the chickens into pies after being sick and tired of making minuscule profits by just selling eggs.

Yes Farquaad got eaten but it looked like Dragon swallowed him very quick and fast in one gulp and visually we're not treated to anything too graphic. Red Death gets flat out incinerated from the inside we're treated to the lovely scenery of the membrane of her wings burning up like paper until they're gone and she flat out explodes when she crashes to the ground. Her internal insides were probably burning too. Red Death looks like she had a far more slower and painful well....death

Sticker Star was supposed to be a game focusing on series staples while driving away from the RPG, which, call me crazy, conceptually, could work. I mean, there's a lot of series staples to be featured here. The Wario bros, Rosalina, and the list goes on. They just need the right team to work on it. Key word : right team, cause clearly that did not happen when Tanabe was given the iron fist of Paper Mario development, and what we got was a total disappointment, as well as a slightly less disappointing sequel. HTTYD3 is one of only 3 movies that has made me cry. The others being JW2 with the Brachiosaurus in the dock, and Pay it Forward when the kid dies
