I got pulled over going 135mph in a 75. I was in the middle of nowhere AZ. I was on State Hwy 60 between Love and Aguila. Theres a stretch that is 27 miles thats flat and straight. Ive driven it MANY times on the way from Prescott, AZ to LA, CA. This time, I was by myself with no wife and kids and in my modified 2008 WRX (VF52 turbo, DP, Full Exhaust, Tune, Intake, bigger brakes and upgraded suspension). Ive never seen a cop on that stretch and I figured I was cleared for a top speed run.
I was getting closer to the stretch. I hadnt seen another car for a few minutes. It was in the middle of the week and traffic was REALLY light. I was going about 85 and then realized I was on the part of the hwy I was waiting for and then just went pedal to the metal. About 10 miles in I saw a glint on the hwy and just figured it was another car. It was another car. An AZ Dept of of Public Safety (DPS) patrol. I realized it too late and let off the gas as we passed. I cruised for a few moments and then hit the brakes.
In the rear view mirror I can see the trooper hit the brakes, make a u turn and hit the lights. I stopped as soon I could. Pulled over. I rolled my window down and turned the car off. I put my license, insurance and keys on the dash. I pulled my gun out (I left it holstered) and set it on the seat in plain view.
As he came up I, I had my hands on my steering wheel and let him know immediately that I was armed. He said "Dont reach for yours and I wont reach for mine." He then asked me if I knew how fast I was going I said "Yes.". He said I got you at 135mph. I told him I was going 140ish before I saw him. He asked me if he was going to find anything on my license when he runs it. I said "If you give me a ticket this will be the 1st one in about 10 years." He replied "Oh youre getting a ticket today."
He went back to his cruiser...luckily it was only 80-85 so it wasnt too hot waiting for him. I left my hands on the wheel to whole time. He came back and said "I'm going to need to you get out of your car." I thought "Oh shit, Im going to jail."
He said "I dont have a problem with people going 90 out here but do you know theres a ranch?" I replied "No." He continued "Last week a cow got out and was on the road...someone hit it going 100...the driver and the cow both died." He went on to tell me that since I pulled over without him making me chase me and had everything ready to go that he was only going to write me ticket for 85mph!!!!
He explained that since hes only writing me for 10mph over I can go to traffic school and this whole thing will be so cheap. He even said theres online traffic schools for about $40. In AZ you only pay the traffic school not for both the violation and school. He wrote me the ticket and warned me to slow down. I avoided HUGE fines and jail.
Amazing story! Very lucky. Good for you man. Some cops are cool

@@busa7star979 135 in a 70… I do not support running from the police. BUT… do you mind if I ask why you stopped?
Okay, several things I've learned over the years about traffic stops:
1 - Repeatedly calling a cop "sir" will not get you out of whatever trouble you're in.
2 - The cop doesn't personally care what you did, so don't waste your breath apologizing.
3 - If you get caught doing triple digits, the cop's taking you to jail. Shut your mouth and let your lawyer speak for you.
4 - If you're driving a fast car that looks fast, DO NOT wrap it up like a stock car or a Jackson Pollock painting and then wind it out.
5 - DO NOT EVER, AS IN NEVER, record yourself doing something awesome. You call it "Content," but prosecutors call it "Evidence."
not if you "did it in Mexico"
If you must record it never film your face during and change the date stamp! This will at least make it harder to use the video later against you. But if they have the film your likely DOOMED!!!
Lucky me then, Hawaii OAHU were the max speed is 55mph (one rare stretch at 60mph), I was caught doing 104 in said 55, didn't get arrested (had 3 passengers Who were drunk and I picked them up from Honolulu), wrote a citation and last month got the trial and won it by getting the lawyer to prove that cops aren't aware of the usage of their equipment and was found NOT GUILTY.

I used to be a cop in Georgia, and there are no ventilation systems in the back seat. It is just naturally hot because there is no air flow. I would generally roll the windows down so that way they could get some air flow in the back seat and I would periodically check on them, also with laser, the reason laser cannot be detected by laser detectors until you are the one being clocked is a laser gun puts off one single beam, as opposed to a radar system that puts out 3 billion Waves per second in a cone shape. If your laser detector is going off that means that you are directly being lasered, which is a good idea to slow down because sometimes it takes a few seconds for the laser gun to lock on its Target especially if you have a small car

We live in a Police state, no doubt. I've made multiple 200 mph plus passes on US 30 between Lima & Van Wert Ohio. I generally only did this during the middle of the night when there was minimal traffic. I also left many a trooper scratching their heads with my ZX-11's & H2's. Just have to pick your time & places carefully & of course I never have injured anyone, especially myself. As I've aged over 50, I have shown down greatly. I'm more into face melting acceleration than driving 200 plus mph. To me, it's much less risky & satisfies my need for speed.
The less I interact with the Highway Patrol, the happier I am 😊
That area to almost mansfield is flat, straight and relatively cop free considering its in ohio.
I'm in Tennessee visiting family and driving back to the airport in a rented Challenger. Get stopped by a State Trooper and get a tongue lashing and a ticket for 141mph in a 70mph zone. Good morning, happy friday everyone. Great stories to start the day! Thank you!
Got pinched in 1986 south of Indianapolis on a Friday afternoon around 3:20 leaving school in Indy and headed home in the extreme southern tip of the state. Another guy from school was behind us and I was focused on going fast enough to keep him from passing me... my speedometer read 131 when I glimpsed something in the median ahead probably a mile and a half. I immediately mashed the brakes and scrubbed off 30 and came out from under an overpass where I was sure by that point it was ISP in the median with a St. Regis.
After being sure he had seen me by then, I got on the brakes again and really brought it down to probably 50. [70 340 Dart Swinger with the kelsey hays 4 piston discs, in lemon twist yellow and black buttstripe and hoodscoops]
I got it stopped on the shoulder just a few hundred yards beyond where he had been sitting. Keyed off, hands on the wheel, window down.
He was teeth clinched and asked "w.t.f." I was trying to prove. I only said I was in a hurry to get home, and didn’t realize how fast I was going. He said to come back to his cruiser.
On getting in, I could see his readout was reflecting 118mph. He said angrily that he saw me before the overpass and knew I was going faster than what he had clocked me at. I apologized profusely and was clearly shaking with fear/adrenaline, and he said "Oh, you're GONNA be sorry alright.
He wrote me for 87mph saying he only just got out there and didn’t intend to sit and do 6 hours of paperwork to arrest me, but, he wrote me for endangering public safety, and unsafe equipment, because I had taken the seat belts out for re-carpeting the car and hadn't reinstalled them.
Muttered that I should feel lucky he wasn't arresting me and handed me the tickets and held onto them when I attempted to take them, he said through clinched teeth that if he saw 'that yellow shitpile' even so much as change lanes without signaling, he'd make me regret it. I completely agreed to his admonition. Still not believing he was letting me go.
$278.00 and 3 years probation,, and no small amount of disenchantment from my Granddad.... that was the last ticket I had until well into the 2000's.
The title should be cuss words get you 2 more days in jail or something like that. Nice stuff as always.

I was driving with the flow of traffic. I thought all cops were busy so I wanted to see what it had. In 15 seconds I was going 135, and looked in the mirror to make sure it was still safe to do more.
I see this unmarked Crown Vic [no lights on] over a half a mile behind, trying to weave through traffic to get to me. I downshifted and E-braked [no brake lights]. When he got to me as I was again doing 60. He followed for a mile and then pulled along side of me. I turned to him and shrugged as to say, Sorry, you got me, I'm not going to do anything. He gave me a disgusted Dad look, and followed until the next exit 3 miles away, [went to that other stopped car]. I was lucky he was too far away, with too many cars running interference for radar.

In 2009 riding from Vegas to Utah, I got pulled over in the middle of BFE Utah clocked at 168 on my GSXR 750. It was early on a Sunday morning with almost no one on the highway other then a trucker here and there, I had been going 175ish for easily over an hour. (Speed limiter comes on at 186 indicated) The cop told me the truckers had been calling in about me for over an hour, and the cops had set up further back on the highway to catch me two other times but they had been too late to catch me both times. They had begun to think the truckers were playing a game with them, but had decided to set up for me one more time, and this time they caught me. He let me go with a warning. Telling me they'd been trying to catch me for so long that his night shift was over and he just wanted to go home. I knew I recognized the car. WTF! This is that Porsche that Savage Garage helped bail out of jail. No way. Crazy to hear the story years later.
And a couple years later David stopped for me when I had some issues with my CTSV on a different rally.
Great dude!
Sounds like Georgia is worth skipping lol…
And Virgina
Dave is always a class act, we have been on a few rally days together and he has always been a careful law abiding guy so don't judge on one alleged speeding incident. Love the hat, let's go Drive Florida
“Do you know how fast you were going?”
Nnnot fast…enough?
This is just so hilarious from my German perspective. A car that is purposely build for that speed, on an empty street, triggers a power tripping cop & JAIL TIME!
Unreal.
I wish they factored in more variables at these speeding stops in the US. Most civillian veichles have tires that are at least rated to go 120 so if their driving was otherwise not reckless, a ticket should be all thats warented. 100 being an automatic felony in many states is crazy, it feels like walking speed.
I drive through GA back and forth to FL. I have gotten more tickets in GA than any other state, and I've never lived there. The GA highway patrol are serious about "their roads"!
I used to have a '98 Z/28 that I used to fly back and forth from Florida to the Midwest about once a month. I knew where most of the cops hung out but occasionally, I'd get surprised. I didn't get pulled over once, even though several times I was way too close for them to miss. Illinois cops and Georgia cops are usually quick to grab you. My conclusion was that the shape of the metal hood must be reflecting away so they couldn't get a fix on me. They couldn't have all been asleep or not running radar/LIDAR.
If more people would drive 200mph on the highway, we wouldn't have to deal with this crap. 🏎
Because you would be dead from all the accidents that street racers cause...
The only "crap" is that he wasn't banned from driving for life & didn't lose the car!!!
@@davidhollenshead4892 If you drive on sight the risk is at a minimum. Driving fast is not street racing. Please educate yourself.
@@davidhollenshead4892 There's nothing stopping street racers from driving that fast today, yet accidents are rare. There is a difference between street racing and simply driving fast.
And then....a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ enters the conversation....!!
I also have a Porsche, a 996 that was "gently" massaged by RUF/RAC performance with the top package they offered at the time. The car easily did over 175mph and had MUCH MORE to give but I ran out of course and I never had the guts to do anything silly on the road. The place I was living at the time was fairly rural and the cops were ALWAYS looking for a reason to pull me over and so I NEVER gave them a chance to give me a ticket but they did pull me over for "other" reasons. It was annoying to say the least. Glad you are safe and out of the pokey in GA.
If you hit someone going that fast, you deserve to be thrown under a jail...
911 Turbo-S is designed for those speeds. It's not going to hit someone. You are just being dramatic for attention.
@magi115 just too many unknown variables on public roads... from inattentive drivers to animals. Your going almost a football field per second at that speed. Do it on a track.
@@magi115 Dumbo, if you are driving at over hundred MPH then you should be banned from driving for life. As doing that usually leaves a trail of car accidents. And no the 911 Turbo-S wasn't designed to hit a pot hole at over a hundred miles per hour...
But he didn't hit someone.
@@magi115exactly, my 750i does 172mph (limited by ECU) no problem. I don’t think these people realize that these cars can do these speeds comfortably for the autobahn
Oh wow! My family lives in Metter. I've seen that jail and courthouse numerous times. You definitely got off easy! The cops there really don't mess around.
My parents were driving cross country from Seattle to the east coast. They were in eastern Montana when my mom who was driving their Oldsmobile over 100 mph got pulled over. The Trooper asked her to step out and asked her how fast she was going. She said not sure but north of 100. He made her sit in the front seat of his cruiser while he questioned my dad. He came back to his cruiser and started writing her a ticket for wasting natural resources and let them go. LOL
"OK, I'm going to do a 200mph run on the highway".......what the actual F?
If you can drive faster than their helicopter you win.
I'm quoting a guy from a McLaren story a while back.

182mph lmao. I love the interaction.
David came to my neighborhood car meet in fishhawk and we did a mini rally after. Super nice guy
I've been north of 200 mph several times and always thankful everything worked as intended. Whenever I'm out on my early Sunday morning drive I always do an out lap looking for road issues / cops / hazards, and the "in lap" at full throttle once I've cleared any traffic (if any).
I've done multiple road trips south to north and east to west, and I can tell you with all confidence that Georgia State Police is everywhere and if you are 10mph over they will stop you. If you want to make some time on a trip, make sure you do it in another state.
Don't drive around a car that looks like a circus wagon that is so easy for the cops to pick out.Try to blend in.
That's why 70% of Porsches are silver.
Get a gray Kia Stinger
What a great story! Thank you!
I’ll never forget the phone call I received this day. Always a wild adventure with you!
I love David. Such a nice guy. Had a lot of fun with him on SR.
In the 90's I was pulled over by 10 to 12 Florida state troopers doing 183 mph in a heavily modified Chevy Silverado. They were more shocked it was a truck then the speed! Thanks to the Ticket Clinic it was about $800 in court cost and their fee. Thanks again Ticket Clinic!
Moral of the story, don't drive 200 MPH and you won't be in jail and have to worry about your mouth in court...lol
So let me get this right, you were speeding & bribed a cop in Florida with HotWheels...
I don't think this guy learned his lesson
More rally stories and footage please. Thanks!
Thanks for the great story!
Saying the F word got two days in jail? That sounds like a really sane and not at all batshit crazy judge.
The second I saw the way that car was wrapped I knew exactly what the story was. Pretty wild, glad he was down to share it.
Cop: Do you know why I puled you over, You: because I let you?
I'm a retired judge here in Texas. I had a small claims case before me, and after I rendered my judgment, the respondent said, "I don't agree with your f--king judgment." Well, my clerk was sitting next to me, and she was watching for the mushroom cloud. Since my decision had already been announced, I told the petitioner she could leave. I knew I had to keep my cool before I dropped the hammer on this clown. I told my bailiff to escort him to the lobby outside of the courtroom, and I would deal with him when I had finished a couple of other cases I had to hear. After about 15 minutes, I was done and had him brought back in before me. I was still pretty wound up about what he had gave it was clear to me that he knew how much trouble he was in, and he was extremely contrite and apologetic. He came within a hareshreath of spending 3 days in jail, but because he was so contrite, I gave him an extremely stern warning about proper courtroom decorum and sent him on his way. That was the only time anyone ever dropped the F-bomb in my courtroom.
Moral of the story is don’t keep £20 for the police but hot wheels and hope they are also car nerds 😂
Nope Dumbo. The "moral of the story" is keep that kind of driving to the race course or closed rally course...

I got pulled over in Estill SC. Showed up to court, which was an old house. The court room was so small I could high five the judge. The first officer get up before starting and gives a statement.
My reader gun has certified accurate. My certification in training is up today. 5mph over is still speeding.
Thankfully my officer no longer worked there so my ticket was dropped.
I did a rally with him back in 2022 from FL to NC and this man was funny as hell and super chill lol. Was hanging out the window for roller shots and he pulls up wearing a halloween mask lmao. (rally was around halloween) his car also sounds insane in person.
You should have put the pedal to the metal , whipped off an exit, peeled off the wrap, and continued the race...LOL I out ran a local cop once with a 5.0 Mustang LX. It was at night, so I pulled into my driveway, shut off the lights, and ducked down.
Yeah but this is during the day, in an unfamiliar area, in a Hot Wheels wrapped Porsche….
Cops these days have fast cars unlike in the old crown vic days
@@katieadams5860 - I have an ‘11 CVPI, a ‘95 Caprice 9C1 and have driven a few police chargers. They’re all big, heavy boats. The Top speed is there but the rate of acceleration, handling and most importantly: repeated braking is where they become non- competitive. Also most police departments won’t allow a pursuit above 100 mph anymore. Just too much liability if someone gets hurt. I’ve never driven a Porsche, but I’d imagine it’s quite responsive in all regards due to its smaller size. If someone is willing to donate a GT3RS, I’ll make room in my garage 🤷♂️

I have been 140mph many times in various cars that weren't meant to go that fast and it felt like the end of the world and the car wanted to kill me. I have also been 170mph in my S600 and it was beautiful. The S600 is in a diferent world compared to the others and is so stable and smooth that it almost gives you too much confidence which can be a different kind of scary. It's almost like you're driving a video game version instead of irl but it is very exciting.
I currently drive a 2019 750i, have also driven while workin for Mercedes several s600, Maybachs and S63/65
These cars don’t even register you’re doing almost 180mph, let alone what this guy is driving in the video.
I remember doing 164 in my Camaro SS and felt like I was about to lose control, while doing 172 in my 750i feels completely safe and comfortable
@@JamesCook76131 My Mustang GT's commanded my full attention at 140 whereas my w140 S600 Lorinser is pretty uneventful. According to the eco gauge it was still getting like 12mpg but I don't know if that was accurate because I never stayed at that speed for very long. The only problem I ever noticed is I got a vibration that started very light and got noticeably worse with speed and it turned out that one of the unobtainable 3 piece Lorinser wheels developed a couple of cracks but other than that high speed has always felt safe.
I have driven a hemi 300C (non srt8) at 130 for a minute and it felt decent (still not like my S600) but it's basically a Mercedes chassis so that makes sense. You can tell the Germans know how to go properly fast.
In full disclosure I have not driven the new body Mustang GT so things may be different now but in the past that's how it was.
@@me3333 I think just the lack of sheer weight / downforce is what makes those cars feel unstable. They’re just big engines inside of a very underdeveloped car (I’ve driven the GT500 it was very stable at 150 same with the zl1 1le very stable)
While the German car makers are forced to make a car that can be driven at high speed for extended periods of time for the autobahn.
You’re correct on the 300c as I had the next gen E Class chassis (driven them on the track too) not very agile but very stable at high speeds for sure.
Believe it or not, you could consider the 300c/challenger and charger luxury chassis because of this, that’s why they do very well with the high horsepower engine configurations without much drama
Some cars are definitely not meant for it, first car I ever had was a Hyundai Elantra that started shaking and rattling above 120 but the day I bought a 2017 BMW M240I I hit 150 on a straight away and it felt like butter, the car really makes the difference
thats just how the german cars roll even vws will run super stable at 140mph

I wouldn't.
I always thought that two radar detectors would never work side by side, one would interfere with the other??😢
It's not ok that someone has this much authority over another person who hasn't hurt anyone or damaged anyone's property.
WTF??? Do you not understand that by driving over a hundred MPH leaves a trail of accidents??? That was how Mr. Bill Gates was banned from driving, and yes he caused a bunch of accidents. As other motorists tend to make mistakes when being passed by a speeding car on the freeway as though their cars were parked??? You do not have a right to injure other people...
Uhm what? He didn’t hurt anyone but he could’ve easily killed someone.
What he did is the equivalent of recklessly waving a gun around in a crowded mall without firing any bullets.
This story could have easily ended up with multiple fatalities. Im just as much of a car guy myself but 180+ on a highway is NUTS.
