I don't understand why the phantom doesn't love madame giry! She saved him! And they are the same age. He could have taught her to sing even better than Christine, would have saved a lot of trouble...
I was never satisfied by the explaination of how the Phantom acquired all his skills in architexture and so on by just lving in an opera house all his life. The Phantom by Susan Kay explains this in a far more satisfying manner. It also explains how he got to know all the secrets of the Opera Populaire, which is quite interesting to read about. It is a book I recommend to those wishing to recieve a more developed picture of our beloved Phantom.
then u would chose him out of pity not out of love, and in a way its an even worse insult. I understand the phantom deeply loved christine, perhaps at first like a daughter and then as a woman. however, his methods at winning her favor was based on murder, intimidation and seduction. Dont get me wrong I am NO Raoul but he seemed to hav been a better choice and in the end she did live a happy life with him and the phantoms greatest expression of love was to let her go.
Raoul, how can you say that The Phantom was mad after hearing his emotionally scarring back story?! I wouldn't have been "ALL IS FORGIVEN!!!" but i would still have understood why he did what he did. Just because he's in love with your fiance doesn't mean you get to judge him like that. Sure he had a few creepy objects in his little lair but lets face it, this guy was shown no compassion up until he was rescued by Madame Giry! He could have turned out MUCH worse. Team Phantom all the way!!!!
Please don't say Raoul has no reason to hate the phantom if you haven't read at least enough of the book to know that the phantom killed his brother and Raoul himself.
Raoul: Clearly Madam, Genius has turned to madness. Me: HE LOVES HER MORE THAN U EVER WILL RAOUL. U CALL IT CRAZY, I CALL IT A PASSION FOR LOVE! I think i've proven my point :)
i just realized how much i sound like Javeart when i discuss my opinion about the phantom. I mean i know you feel sorry for him but he KILLS PEOPLE!!! that's just NOT COOL!
@UsedtoWoW Well in the musical it's a point that he's this enigma, a true Phantom. While I adore Susan Kay's novel and back story you have to remember it's not canon. When you watch them musical he is just the "Phantom" he isn't "Erik."
This was the only good part of the movie. It gave the Phantom much more emotional weight, and also explains his connection to Madame Giry, two things you don't get in the show. Other than this, the movie has no weight.
This is one of those stories you can't just hate the villain. And makes everybody doubt about who has to win

He is mad but his madness came from loneliness its not his fault
PHANTOM SHOULD LOVE MADAME GIRY!
That is all...
What the phantom did from that point was just a reflection of what was done to him.
Raoul: But clearly, genius has turned to madness.
Phantom: Madness? THIS. IS. OPERA!
I'm going to bed now...

I wish I can just take the kid phantom and protect him! T - T
I feel so sorry for phantom i just wanna hug him but i know he'd probably hang me like Joseph buquet

I cried when they hit him D: He is beautiful and the world needs to learn that he didnt deserve that!
You have to know this one fact though, he was correct when he said that genius has turned into madness.
Loneliness coupled with the emotional trauma of his childhood at the freak show, no less!
Awww. . . i wanna hug the Phantom. . .
Poor Phantom! This is why that I do feel so sorry for him!
I know have a new respect for madame Giry.
to be sure, you have to be mad to be a genius.

That is the saddest story I've ever heard. Shame on you Raoul. Shame.
I just realized that during this scene they are playing the Coney Island Waltz from LND in the background.... Mind=Blown :)
Please don't say Raoul has no reason to hate the phantom if you haven't read at least enough of the book to know that the phantom killed his brother and Raoul himself.
THEY SKIPPED THE PART WHERE HE'S IN THE MIRROR ROOM
It's a depressing story
Poor Erik... :'(
Nope, they aren't the same age. It seems that they are a 10 yr max age difference. In the movie, she looks about 16 and he looks about 6
Curse those peeps! What horrible people! Who would ever do that! Poor guy. -:( 😓😡😢
Raoul: Clearly Madam, Genius has turned to madness.
Me: HE LOVES HER MORE THAN U EVER WILL RAOUL. U CALL IT CRAZY, I CALL IT A PASSION FOR LOVE!
I think i've proven my point :)
@AlliGaasland
in the journey to the graveyard scene you can hear a melody that sound exactly like Beneath a moonless Sky
does everybody but me hate raoul?
this scene have the Coney Island Waltz :)
Awww
i just realized how much i sound like Javeart when i discuss my opinion about the phantom. I mean i know you feel sorry for him but he KILLS PEOPLE!!! that's just NOT COOL!
Poor phantom:-(((
When raoul days "but clearly, genius has turned to madness" I just laugh XD
After watching Love Never Dies I 100% agree!
this is probably the worst part of the movie :( why didnt christine just pick phantom instead of raoul
I have a love hate thing going on... I love his virtuous character, but he doesn't do much until the end
Converseboy15 has a dog who has a birth mark on his right eye and he named him Erik. He kinda has the same past as Erik
2:53 scared me because she just starting talking out of the blue haha
guys it was Javert!

I swear if I have to watch another tampon ad I'm going to scream....

I hate Raoul. >:(

Haha! So I wasn't the only one thinking that!
apperently the phantom does.
@Penelope Palmer but than wouldn't there have been a battle between phantom and mr giry at somepointt
@Venom0027 did you hear or read about love never dies yet?
Raoul is totally right!
It's funny 'cause it's true!
