Funny how the Phantom is the only one to dress appropriately.
I love when they sing together
The book explains it a bit differently. Because of the phantoms VERY dark past he actually knows how to hypnotize and learned to do so by the sound of his voice. That's what was meant to be portrayed in this scean. So really its no wonder she was in a trance like state every time he opens his mouth. :P
0:29 Butler's line "have you forgotten your angel" gives me teh shivers ♥
If I could sing like Gerard I would never shut up
I love how they're fighting and Christine's just standing there the entire time like 'Sup' XD
What, no fire throwin? Come on Butler I would think you would be good at that.
Now THAT is how you use a cape in battle.
I just like to think what kind of life Christine would lead if she had picked him.
I saw the Royal Albert Hall performance before I saw the film and I still preferred Erik to Raoul.
He's probably pretty warm. Riding at a full gallop bareback is not easy, and he's running about fighting and whatnot.
but i suppose you have to say in the phantom's defense that he left christine alone when she fainted and went to pass the time with composing, also it was he who suggested she should go back later on
No way in hell King Leonidas would lose to Raoul in a swordfight.
Everyone is like "Pick the Phantom! Pick the Phantom!"
Here's my point- Raoul had the chance to kill him, and you could tell he wanted to. But he listened to Christine and didn't, because that would just hurt her.
Now... if the Phantom were in Raoul's place, would he have done the same?
Exactly. This just shows how messed up his soul is. Manipulative, deceptive, and uncaring....
Gotta love dem cape swoshes
GO TEAM PHANTOM!!!!!!!!! :)
I find it hilarious that he was like the most manly spartan in 300. It's like Hugh Jackman you totally wouldn't expect them to be in musicals but they are and they are awesome O:
The Phantom is just so awesome with that cape and a mask and that custom made sword with a skull
i love this song!this is best movie ever!angel of music
I am your angel of -
christin wait!
Christine.... =O
OH SNAP! Didn't see that coming
ok maybe if you put it in this perspective it will sound kinda logical
Imagine your father had passed away then you went to put flowers on his grave then he started talking to you would you run or stay.
Thats what christine thought she thought it was her father talking because she thought he heard her singing about him to come soooooo yeah
I LOVE GERRY BUTLER!!!! :D
I so so so agree. I've hated the character Raoul ( Not the actor, he's great) and wish they didn't end up together but it made sense. If Christine ended up with the Phantom it'd be a harsh secret lonely life together.
I still prefer the Phantom. Their voices just WORK together and sound like they're meant to just be together.:)
As much as I love the Phantom, I think it's really cruel that he made her think he was her father's angel/spirit watching over her. Other than that Phantom ftw.
Her face during the fight: :O
So am I the only one who thinks that the Phantom is a spoiled baby when he declares war on Christine just because she left with Raoul? I mean, she saved his life literally 15 seconds ago and he's furious at her...
Ok that song really creeps me out when he goes " i am your angel of music, come to me angel of music"
Raoul is lucky that wasnt King Leonidis!!!!
*sings raouls' part over the song*
..Hypnosis?
@Carolynaces I'm late on this but that's actually Gerard Butler. Michael Crawford did the one with Sarah Britghtman and that was on Broadway.
watch 300, he is awesome in that movie! lol
How could you even think to try to compare Phantom ot Twilight? I like both. POTO is in a category of its own.
you are so right
Because it's a movie.
I WOULD!!
I use to sympathize with the Phantom in my teen years (and I know all you girls think he's real hot), but he's you'r typical creep. He kills people to get near Christine's, he doesn't do anything besides obsess over her, and worst of all he's pretending to be the voice of her father (And he knows she thinks hes her father, making it really weird).
if THAT kinda of voice is coming from it, ME ME ME!
As much a I am 100%NOT team Raoul- I really liked the productions with his voice chipping in (25th anniversary, 1987 soundtrack,etc.). On the other hand, though, the song seems softer and sweeter without him, and the Final Lair seems more special hearing the 3 of them overlap their voices for the first time:) I'm 90% sure that i like the productions with all 3 of them singing in this song, but WC is so good that it almost doesn't matter what they do- it's perfect every time, every version:)
human curiosity
who plays the man with the white shirt?
maybe because their on a movie set ? just saying
no it doesn't. Many changes were made for the musical in 1986. They basically kept the same idea, and backstories (somewhat) and reorganized the plot.
MAGIC. :T .
@ilovehimvalo3 The only way the two are similar is that the musical is based on the book, other than that they do not follow each other one bit.
Well at its very core 2 guys are fighting for a girl but I can understand your exasperation
*Raoul
i wouldve come to him, and ignored roul lol
not really , he did all he did for christine while rouwl did nothing , phantom was a genus while rowl was rich and uggly phantoms good looking and would you not feel sorry for him ? i did not even know it was gerad butler the first 3 times i wached it yet i still loved phantom i still havent wached any films with gerad in apart from this i hardly know how he is.
Esta Christine se ve bien mensa!
Wait a second--I am pretty certain that no literal rape occurred.
it's so BAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDD
yea i know if there's a love never dies movie i hope emmy and gerard r in it the movie would'nt b the same without them in it
Stage is so much better
I love that cape, its doing its own acting
It surprises me how she still doesn't recognize Erik's voice at this point.
I wanna know through out this whole movie.... How many times has he wooshed his cape?!?!?!
"Have you forgotten your Angel?" Amazing...
The singing part at the beginning was by far one of my favorite scenes of them singing together it sounded downright amazing
*Gerard singing*
"come to your angel of music...COME to me, angel of music"
*me closing my eyes and reaching out to the computer screen*
"NO CHRISTINE, WAIT!"
ME: DAMN IT, ROUL. YOU RUIN EVERYTHING
raoul is basically the Beast after he transforms back into a prince
Does Raoul not think to wear at least a jacket when it's snowing? I mean, what are the chances that he's going to be conveniently just wearing a white shirt that shows a bit of chest?
The sword fight is just too violent for the Phantom. Too direct. His character is meant to be manipulative and clever. His power comes from illusion and mystery. And I know somebody is going to say, "He killed people, how is a sword fight too violent?" When he kills Buquet and Piangi though, he doesn't do it directly. He strangles them from behind. A sword fight is just way too hands on for the character.
And theres the horse just like "yeah whatever"
'My mind beats against you, but my soul obeys.' The Phantom has a strange power over her....
Phantom Of the Opera is a better love story than Twilight
I tell you what Daae has got the coolest and biggest tomb I have ever seen.
Yeah, but he hates Raoul with a burning passion. I think that kind of overrode his cleverness in this situation.
if someone had that voice and sang to me in a grave i would go to them
"yet your soul obeys" *chills* they sound so amazing together! Is it weird that the phantom kind of portrays himself as her father ,calls her child, yet he has the hots for her...? Isn't that weird?
Their voices truly do fit together. I just love Gerard as the Phantom!
This movie is a work of art!!! It's perfect for someone who can't see it onstage, too. I love the organ at 2:33!!!
Christine should get her head checked for a lot of reasons
Ramin and Gerard are both awesome singers and awesome phantoms!!
"Now. let it be war upon you both" Epic Line
I LOVE the sword fight! There's none of that clang clang clang crap. It actually looks like Gerard Butler wants to murder someone! :D
if only she walked faster up the stairs lol
Wow. I almost forgot about this little song bit. But I find myself having to listen to the beginning over and over, and every time with chills, all the more thinking "oh my gosh. Their voices are remarkably perfect." How can this be so?
So, apparently living in an underground cavern for the majority of your life teaches you how to fence with a viscount, a nobleman undoubtedly trained in swordplay.
i love Gerry's "Have you forgotten your angel?"
*shivers*
This girl obviously doesn't play D&D or any other Fantasy RPG. If she did, she would know that when a grave/tomb/mausoleum lights up and starts talking or singing, that is definitely not a good sign. it usually means Wight/Lich/other kind of sentient, creepily powerful form of Undead. She almost failed Will Save, but Raoul intervened with a Natural 20.
I really like this version
i wish this would happened in the musical where raoul arrives after christine and the phantom had their duet..
this duet shows another side to christine and the phantom's relationship and having raoul sing his part only lessens the seduction.. -_-
Yeah, that's the greatest inaccuracy of this movie, Erik was supposed to be this undefeatable demon who in the end is turned from his ways by Christine, so really having him loose the fight ruins his character since now Raoul knows he can beat him in an equal fight.
And adrenaline. My mom jumped in icy water on an adrenaline rush (little girl was drowning in the pool) and she didn't even feel it. So I'm sure he's not worried about being cold right now.
A graveyard is a very appropriate place for a sword fight. That way if one guy is killed, look where you're at. It kinda cuts out the middle man.
Anyone else think its disrespectful and sort of crazy to hide out and use a dead fathers grave to get with their daughter??
Yes, but this was really humiliating and the phantom is a very proud person who, just for pretending some respect, killed two guys. Immagine what can he do when the girl that he loves choose to go with someone else instead of him?
Answer: crashing a chandelier and almost kill the other one
i love their harmonizing.
as if raul could ever actually win in a sword fight against king leonidas
1:42 listen to the music! Pure genius! Love this musical :) not to mention an epic swordfight to go with it.
do you have nay idea how hard it is to find a guy that can sing.
I love how throughout the sword figh, the horse is just like "Whatevs"
scur rauhl why can he just let them be happy and leave erik and christine alone . beacuse the phatom has been with her snice the time she came to the opre house eghit years old and rauhl
has not! rauhl has a faimly poeple who care about him. erik had no one he was treated like a freak no a fence and laughed at and rejected by the world and bound to solitude. and i know what that is like. its painful to be treated like you dont belong and laughed at and bullied and hated.
Ok does anyone else see how BDSM this movie is? I mean seriously
omg!!! the organ when they're fighting!!!!
love their harmonizing
i want to know what would have happened if Raoul wasnt there :\
i love this movie..something popped in my head: dude putting flowers down on someone's grave sees the phantom and raoul fighting o-0
I wish..the phantom would fight over me . _ .
