They’ve adopted UP’s ideology of combining entire trains together. They’ll split the two somewhere and send them on their merry way in different directions.
I'm also named Dave. All locomotives including DPU's elephant style? I've watched hundreds of train vids over the last few years, and I recall only one such instance beside this one. Kudos on a terrific catch!! 👌👍👏
From a small Central American country called Costa Rica, where brainless politicians closed the railway service I can only say wow! How impressive to see a steel mass of that magnitude rolling on rails... Excellent job, thank you very much for showing us these beauties doing what they do best! Best regards, regards
I'm a lifelong railfan and even this too crazy for me! NS has run several shorter monsters on the Chicago Line too. I bet the Terminal Managers thought about ending it all seeing this thing arrive!
@@williejameshoward4729 On th NS Chicago Line they can be seen sitting on a siding track waiting for a track to open up in Elkhart Yard. I saw 2 end to end a couple weeks back doing just that.
Seeing the trains this big is cool but I’m not happy knowing folks lose their jobs. That really sucks. Plus it makes it harder on the crew that’s in charge of a train this large.
wow, what a fantastic sight... i wonder how many gallons of fuel a truck needs to cart one container a 100miles in comparison to how much this train needs to cart one container 100 miles... the energy saving must be enormous...
@@dongrainer6405 I'm a train fan but also a UPS road driver. The interstate was actually built for the military and interstate commerce i.e. big trucks.
It's my understanding that when trains are combined, the train's name takes that of the higher priority. IOW, there is no such thing as an S/Q train; instead, it's simply a Q train, unless or until it's separated. I doubt that a high-priority Z train would be combined with a low-prioriry S train.
Thank you for your input. I agree my timing on the turns wasn’t the best. This was one of the 1st trains I caught on video. My timing has improved since then.
Unfortunately CSX is in on this Precision railroading and also combining trains. Would hate to be the conductor on this monster intermodal if the air goes down.
Wow that was awesome! Big power on that sucker, them 4 mid DPU’s sounded mean💪🏼. Thanks for posting 👍🏼😎🇺🇸
Holy POWER Batman! What a monster that was and Amazon Prime bringing up the rear of course.
Wow! I counted 278 cars!
What a beautiful giant! I wish our railroads had these massive monsters
Awesome! I hope someday I can sit at the throttle and run trains like this for a living.
That's a long-assed container train, including 7 locos... That's a whole lot of offshore manufactured goods going to local warehouses!

Great job TrainmanDave. Drawing attention to great stretch of R/R. The west coast to Chicago.
That's two trains being operated by one crew, my friends!!!
BNSF does that on coal trains out of the PRB
That was a mint watch I love the America trains some power there wow top catch, godbless you,
Thank you very much!!! I appreciate it!!!
@@trainmandavid8408 no problem pal God bless you
Great catches and video. What a massive power house long train

Gee that was colossal.
Damn that four-grouping DPU gives me a stiffy. Especially with a NS locomotive making a guest appearance.
ESGevos In the front and BNSF/NS ET44c4’s with 9-44CW. beautiful
That was a really big one👍😉
Absolutely agree.

Where do they park those super long trains

Nice catch!
Thank you!! I appreciate it!!
Beautiful trains and Nice Capture
Thank you very much!!! I appreciate it!!!
Great video, great railroad!
That’s how the railroad gets rid of train crews. Half the crews across the system
Seeing the trains this big is cool but I’m not happy knowing folks lose their jobs. That really sucks. Plus it makes it harder on the crew that’s in charge of a train this large.
If you want those containers unloaded very quickly, just reroute to LA.
Good video. Great job.

Hate to think of what a mess all those 18 wheelers would do to our freeways!

locomotives howl like shells
I agree 100%
A container ship on land!
That’s all the stuff that’s been backlogged at the Ports.

Thank you very much for the information!! I honestly mean that - anything to help improve my page I appreciate!!
That’s 4 DPU’s Nice
Damn 4 DPUS
No wonder there is a global container shortage, they are all currently on an railroad trip across the states.
Badd was! My neck of the woods.
Geeze...there was more power in the middle of the train than what was in the front
DPU’s have been used back to the steam days. I’m missing the deal on that I guess.
Very cool!! I didn’t know that fact!! Thank you very much for watching!! I appreciate it!!
3:31 keep smile althought you're be the last ones
Saw the economy in motion
Huge !😝
Took a wrong turn in Albuquerque!
Thank you very much for watching!! I really appreciate it!!

Losing more jobs
Handfull of jobs, may offset losses to Covid. Track crews can't put 2 machines together to increase production.
