Welcome to my channel!! A little info about myself - I began railfanning about 8 years ago & started this channel on Memorial Day 2021. My videos are from a variety of locations; mostly in northern & central Illinois, but I also have footage from Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Ohio & Pennsylvania. I try to add facts or points of interests that might be in those area or maybe even a good place to drop in for a bite to eat. My favorite rail line is the Chillicothe Subdivision due to its high daily volume; between 60 - 80. It’s been nicknamed The Intermodal Superhighway & it’s part of the BNSF Southern Transcon. The Chicago Line in Northern Indiana is runner up. Hopefully this is a place you can come and spend as much time as you wish to enjoy trains. Even if it’s only for a few minutes at a time. I was sitting in the upper parking lot of the Metra station around 9 pm when this BNSF M-NTWBRC1 rumbles past mile post 24.4 on the Chicago Subdivision aka “The Racetrack” on the way to the Clearing Yard in Chicago from the Northtown Yard in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I was sitting in the unincorporated town of Kinsman when this eastbound BNSF M-KCKBRC1 rumbled past on its way to the Clearing Yard in Chicago from the Argentine Yard in Kansas City, Kansas.

I was sitting at the Amtrak station in La Platta when this eastbound BNSF “S” came rolling past heading for the Logistics Park in Elwood, IL from Long Beach, California at mile post 312.67 on the Southern Transcon.

I had just gotten this location when this Denver bound BNSF “Q” came racing over mile post 57.97 on the Chillicothe Subdivision at the Route 113 crossing in Coal City.

I spotted this BNSF “Z” idling between Forest Ave and Belmont Ave in Downers Grove on the Chicago Subdivision. I was able to get to the Metra parking lot when this train came motoring thru town on its way to Cicero from Portland, Oregon.

I was sitting between the towns of Lee and Shabbona at mile post 69.97 on the Aurora Subdivision when this BNSF G-ABECHC9 came sweeping past on its way to Cicero from Aberdeen, South Dakota. I filmed this train around 5:20 pm.

I was at mile post 57.40 at the 5th Ave crossing when this westbound BNSF “Q” came up the incline and soft curve, switching from track one to track two before heading into town on its way to San Bernardino, California from the Corwith Yard in Chicago. Note the Kansas City Southern helper unit.

I had just pulled up to the Gonnam Rd crossing at mile post 72.96 on the Chillicothe Subdivision in between the small towns of Verona and Kinsman when this eastbound BNSF Z-PHXWSP7 raced by on its way to Willow Springs from Phoenix, Arizona. I filmed this train around 7:15 am.

I was parked next to Santa Fe Road at the base of Edelstein Hill when this eastbound BNSF “S” came coasting downhill and swings around Houlihan’s Curve before continuing on to the Logistics Park in Elwood approximately 100 track miles to the east on the Chillicothe Subdivision. This train originated in Clovis, New Mexico.

I was sitting in the Metra parking lot in downtown Glen Ellyn at mile post 22.50 on the Geneva Subdivision when this long Union Pacific manifest train containing 154 of mixed freight cars swept around the curve and crossed over the Main Street crossing around 11:35 am. Note the mid and rear DPU units helping push this train to the clearing yard in downtown Chicago from North Platte, Nebraska.

I think it had to be a detour because doesn’t this train usually run across the Mendota Sub onto the Chicago Sub? Thanks for watching!!

Nice shot of that YN2 GP40-2! 4419 is one of only a handful of YN2 EMDs left on CSX, and it's definitely in the best condition.

Very interesting to see a caboose on a modern train. I know that they are sometimes used on trains that run in reverse to provide a safer platform for the conductor.

Great video Dave. I believe the tank cars originated in Peoria from the ADM alcohol plant. They are destined for the BP refinery in Whiting Indiana. Some me be delivered to the Citgo refinery in Romeoville. Just a hunch, maybe I'm wrong.

Another excellent video! What I really like about these clips of yours is that they're fairly short -- i.e. you don't have to sit or skim through an hour's worth like on some other channels, which is just a bit too much for me -- and there's minimal movement of the camera which really makes for a much better viewing experience. Nice work... 👌
