Yeah! It would probably go like Street Fighter Zero/Alpha. We passed from a roster of 17 characters to a roster of 14 characters, unlockables included. In proportion the next Smash Bros. would have "only" 73 characters, DLC included, and probably no echo characters. Not bad, ain't it?
I’ve been thinking this for a few years now, that Mario kart and smash is going be hard to for the next games to top. A much better online mode and match making system would a make a huge difference with me when it comes to both franchises.
I think it's about time that we got a smash reboot maybe a spin on the smash gameplay formula that we all know why do argue a reduced roster would be a bit disappointing at first but if the game play is drastically different the last installment and way more fun a unique to I don't think I would quite mind
your explanation for why a port makes sense, and I somewhat agree, but I dont agree with the example. 30 characters? Nintendo would be out of their mind to do something like that. I imagine a roster of 60-70, mostly cutting fighters from series that already have some, and keeping nearly every series, if not all of them. Instead of having tons of newcomers, they could just add fanservice ones (Isaac, shantae) and remake the older fighters to feel like new fighters. Thats my dream smash 6
A deluxe version definitely sounds nice and I could imagine it if they really don't see themselves topping Ultimate any other way but they might be up to the challenge anyway... What I'd like to see; = Characters - Totally reworked movesets for older characters that are outdated in one form or another (perhaps have 'Echos' for some of the original Smash movesets). - Speaking of Echos, continue to add more but make it so they're different enough from the original fighter. No reskins as echos such as Daisy, Dark Samus, Richter. If those characters don't get differing movesets then make it another skin for the original character. - Add or sell additional skins for characters. This was a big missed opportunity imo for Ultimate, as they were only focused on cosmetics for the Miis, when not everyone even plays those. - Reach 100 total fighters, after all new DLC is added, even if some from Ultimate originally get cut for one reason or another. = Modes - Campaign akin to Brawl's & 3D's Smash Run, having minions & bosses from various games to fight throughout as you also solve puzzles. Could have a trophy theming again too. - The ability to Create & Share Custom Battles or Smash-Runs, akin to Spirit Battles but with all the tools at your fingertips this time, including all the wacky modifiers. In other words, going as far as being able to string custom battles into your very own wacky or coherent 'Classic-Run'! - Unique Mode perhaps akin to the board game one in SmashWiiU but with refined ideas, playing out somewhat like an RPG. Might end up being a mini-version of this game's campaign. - Upgraded Squad Strike features & running better
Sora is the only reason I play smash now. I want him to return, and maybe double down and put in a few more of the other kingdom hearts characters as well. I’d love that
Personally, i would be up for a new smash game that was exclusively battling if they kept all characters and overhauled every single non ultimate moveset. Ultimate is where they realized how to make perfect movesets, such as inkling, joker, etc. You cant tell me you couldnt get more material than a punch and a kick for mr video game himself.
I would like a break. What i really want is for Sakuria to make a Disney smash bros game now and then after that we can have disney bros vs smash bros game
I still think they should just have a deluxe version ready for the launch of Switch 2 a la MK8. All the DLC, a revamped story mode, and they can keep raking in the dough with DLC fighters. If they want a new game, it will need to be a serious shake up to not just feel like a down grade

I don't think anyone would really care for a good single player campaign on the long run since the game is made to play with other people (competitively). More than anything, I hope they work things out in the online department since the quality of the online play is very bad. I'd like to keep as many characters as possible, but there are definitely characters that feel redundant at this point (for example Ike-Roy-Chrom-Lucina-Marth), so thinning them out or reworking them would be nice.
While the idea of "Smash Ultimate Deluxe" sounds like a good idea on paper, I feel like that'd be a lot harder to pull off with Smash Ultimate than it was for Mario Kart 8. What made Mario Kart 8 Deluxe work so well was that it was an enhanced port of a game for the Wii U, which the Switch had no backwards compatibility with, and had a mediocrily selling library due to the console's poor sales. The Switch's successor would be shooting itself in the foot not to have backwards compatibility with the Switch itself, and Smash Ultimate has already sold over 34 million copies as of March this year. They'd hardly benefit from making the same game again but with more characters/stages if at least 34 mil people already own that game, and it'll be hard to find that good of an incentive for people to cough up another $60 for it.
