  • The Addiction & Recovery lecture series was created in 2008 by Physics Professor Casey King to change the face of recovery and reduce the stigma our society places on those in recovery.
This lecture serves as a primer on current addiction neuroscience with information that validates the lived experiences of people with addiction. Criticisms of the brain disease model of addiction are addressed in that it does not adequately address the social and ecological factors that are crucial to any complete understanding of addiction and recovery.
The lecture then goes beyond the brain to explore the role of the body and environmental affordances in choice-making and addiction, describing an enactivist approach known as “4E cognition.” Focusing on recent developments in psychoneuroimmunology, computational psychiatry, and embodied consciousness, this “4E” approach answers many of the criticisms of the brain disease model of addiction.

Abandonment is a trauma. Opioid will connect with your opioid system and will make you feel an attachment like a parent hugging you.
