Bought the 21 m.y. in the same color combo with 21s. Getting it tomorrow. Can't wait!
Just bought a 2001 Spyder GT I'm restoring. Glad you like them best of the gens, I don't get the naysayers. Seems perfect to me , well balanced and sharp.
Great video and nice 996! I prefer the gen 2. Wonderful torque in the 3.6 and better gearbox, also better quality in interior. The C2 manual is the way to go!
Fuel consumption per 100km?
Drove an ‘04 es330 yesterday bc I’m looking to add a less expensive daily. Holy cow was that a comfortable ride. What a nice cruiser. They’ll last over too.
Rust
An additional thing to mention is that this truck in doublecab form also had an option for a front bench seat, so six passenger seating. I have one - SR5 Double cab Iforce 4.7L V8 4WD with the front bench seat.
How many miles on yours? I have seen a few with that front bench seat.
@@carsquad_ Just over 30000, I don't drive it that much but it's a great truck, I think it's the best Tundra of its generation and the best overall.
For a car that’s done close to 300,000km, it runs beautifully, Toyota/Lexus engines if maintained properly will run forever.
Yepp spot on! Proper maintenance and these things can run well and comfortably for years and many miles.
Nice video am planning to buy of this for my farm work daily driving what can you say about the gas
It is rated at 18 combined mpg. I am not the owner though so can't speak to what it actually gets. I'd recommend checking the forums and I am sure you can get some good insight from owners on there. It is a great truck that should last a long time on the farm though with fairly easy maintenance!
@@carsquad_ do 05 Tacoma have ball joint problems?
Mr @Car Squad! I like your vids and also the fact that you can drive and shift well. Skilled. Also, youve good good vibes, good voice, etc. You just need some good (4k level) camera gear, mics, lighting, and maybe to solidify your fashion from vid to vid and BAM, golden channel
Much appreciated on all that feedback. Thank you! Hoping to get some more stuff shot now that weather is good!
I’m purchasing a 2004 Lexus RX 330 250k. Wish me luck!
Wow, I just put a deposit on a 2004 RX 330 myself. It will be for my sister and she has never owned a Lexus . It has 207k miles and in great shape for $5k 😊
I have it. The thing runs like a charm. 249,000. Got it for penny’s on the dollar.
@@robertturner8628 Congrats. Take care of it and it'll take care of you! Great vehicles.
I love mine, but my transmission is going out at only 120k miles :( really sucks, I loved this thing, transmission was serviced so often, no clue why it happened
That’s unusual for a Toyota/Lexus, the automatic gearboxes are generally bulletproof, did the previous owner not get the gearbox serviced.
Did it have good maintenance records from previous owner if you weren't first owner? I would think that is uncommon for these.
7:31 there’s supposed to be a small net in there. You can hang it on those small hooks.
I have the exact vehicle. I bought it from a used car dealership and I’m trying to find out if this vehicle needs a computer update and how I do that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (I’m in Sacramento) thank you 😊
We call this "the one that looks like a Ferrari"
Someone is selling me an 04 triple black with 180k timing belt and water pump has been done ,camshaft position sensor , battery, crankshaft sensor , speed sensor ,oxygen sensor and right side catalytic converter . He wants 3900. Is that a safe bet or stay away. Paint and interior are 8.5
I just did a quick search of 04 RX listings and price wise that seems reasonable as long as things check out mechanically
Keep doing videos man you’ll make it big.
The Canadian TV show Canada’s Worst Driver actually used an ES - a fourth-gen XV30 like this one - for the water tank challenge in Season 14 back in 2018. It looked like it might have been a 2001-2003 pre-facelift model under all that foam.
how tall are you for reference i’m 6,3 and felt good sitting in car would i be good driving?
I am 6'1" Honestly I don't remember it was a while ago now that I sat in this car. I just remember the back seat being very tight, but I think you should be fine in the drivers seat. You should check one out and see how you feel!
I love my eclipse and I'm having a used motor installed. I've been putting off installing a another engine but I love driving the engine. It's a 2002 model and hopefully it will be ready next week.
Nice how many miles did you get on the original motor?
Top tip on those frunk and engine lid latches on the '99 - You actually can't open them if the car was locked when the battery went flat. When you lock the doors those latches lock as well - it has to be the dumbest feature i've ever seen though so I've disabled that feature on my car. Great car though.
My 2000 996 has cables for frunk and back lid
That V6 sounds good!,and that thing drives nice, anyway 205 horsepower's nothing to sneeze at,and that 5 speed manual adds to the fun factor.John M Guinto
Exactly. It is a car you can really enjoy. Some of these other cars which have a ton of power, sure they are fast, but in daily use, they can be boring because they have to be held back so much. Thanks for watching!
Correction that's not wood grain trim that's actual wood
I just got a '05 Double Cab 4WD. Been looking for about 4 years for something that wasn't roached out from the northeast winters.
Nice congrats. How many miles on it?
roughest roads around or did fred flintstone balance the wheels?
Haha man our bay area roads here are awful. It’s unfortunate because there’s so many nice drives but they’re often times just so beat up. I’ve thought about doing a video just showing how bad they are and for how long of a stretch it’s like that in multiple areas around here.
Have a 99 C4 in the UK. Bought it in Jan 2024.
Nice how are you enjoying it?
@@carsquad_ I really am. What a car.
@@viperautovalet4479how much with how many miles
Tee-otahs!? 😂. Awesome truck. I bought my 05 DC SR5 new. Just passed 103k miles. Love it
Picked one up last month for 1.7k 134k miles on it, she still got allot of running to do Little rust here and there, easy jobs needed. Other than that feels like a nice little tank
Great review man would be even better if you added more camera angels and close ups.
*1996-2002
Actually each year of the 3rd gen 4Runner has subtle differences. Look up a 1996 compared to a 2002 and you’ll see what I mean 😄
@@RealMikeySlapsof course they do, but the third gen started in 96
"TEE-yota"... yyyeaah...😶 Don't disrespect Toyota like that man.
I own a 2002 bought it with 128k and now sits at 180k. Had to do front and rear suspension and has had oil leak issues. Needs a whole new ac system and needed a starter
so there's no v6 for this?
I have an 2006 RX with 210,000 miles and drives like new.
Original owner since new with 52k as I own four other Porsches (macan, panamera, cayenne, cayman). Cab spec with tip, triple black with hardtop; don't need the clutch headache. Ims, Rms & AOS all done. A garaged car serviced at the dealer & independent all its life here in LA while enjoying the Angeles Crest twists. Good honest review which prompted me to subscribe & comment.
Appreciate you subscribing and thanks for sharing your experience as an owner. It is a great car. Ton of car for the money.
I own the 03 model. If you dont mind the outside design, this is the car to buy. 3 features the owners of this model will never argue: 1, comfortable 2, quiet 3, smooth.
I wonder whether the headlight housing is made of glass or plastic.
Mine has 140,000, oh i got it for 1300.
15:46 😅😅haha why the hell you are wearing a dumb mask when you are driving by yourself?
Thanks for the time stamp I really appreciate it. I guess you didn’t take the time to watch the video to see that I was driving the with the elderly gentleman who owns the vehicle. Have a great day!
@@carsquad_ ups my bad . Apologize. Awesome video by the way
yo i didnt know snoop dog is also a car reviewer
I just hit 150,000 miles in my 1999 911. I've been daily driving mine for the past 7 years and it's been rock solid. Don't let the haters deceive you about these cars. They're much more reliable than people let on. But be aware that they aren't cheap to maintain. I spend about $2,000 a year on maintenance items just to keep it running like new.
I’d say for a car of this performance and capabilities $2k a year isn’t bad in comparison to what it would cost from some other high performance/luxury brands. Love to hear that you’re enjoying putting the miles on it!
Great post! I daily mine as well- about 13k a year. 3rd owner that crossed 115k this month. I budget $3k for maintenance to include tire fund.
@@rumrnr78 Love that you use it as a daily and enjoy it! Thats is what they are meant for! Thanks for sharing your budgeting for the year. Love getting that insight from owners on all the vehicles that I review.
Just picked up a 2000 gt after totaling my 04 gs (was my first car and loved her for 8 years). Unfortunately the 2000 gt is in the shop for issues I couldn't diagnose, but can't wait to get her back and restore her to lookin as nice as this one. Gotta ditch those seats in the back though, borderline dead weight lol
You made my decision. I am buying a 2005 Tundra. Thanks!
Just picked up a 04 RX with 108k og miles one owner....Lucked out, Some old lady traded it in for a Subaru....Paid 6k
I’m thinking about buying one
Never heard of a "Teeoda" before. Looks like mine, but...
love this truck - ! thanks
Just sold my 99 996 and picked up a 1982 911 SC. IMO there is no amount of money one could throw at the M96 engine and make it durable like the turbo mezger engine. The 996 was conceived at Porsche's lowest point, near bankruptcy and the fact that they installed the equivalent of a sealed wheel bearing inside the engine shows they were at odds end not to mention bore scoring and cylinder D chunk failure. Thought for sure I was going to be selling a 6k rolling chassis had I'd kept it long enough and I never liked the looks as well when compared to the older cars so rebuilding the engine a 25-30k was never an option. The only reason it gets the hype on youtube is it's the cheapest 911 to get into and there is a saying about cheep Porsche's that goes "There is nothing more expensive than a cheep Porsche"
This is the opinion of a moron .
so the chatter that 99 engine with the single row bearings are pretty reliable is bogus?
@@misterchuck6866 chatter could be IMS on the way out or it could be worn plastic cam tensioner pads which basically disintegrate and cause the chains to slack and rub against the case. I'd definitely get it checked out. Not sure how mechanical you are but one easy wat is to cut open the oil filter after a oil change and inspect for brown or black plastic bits (cam pads) or metal bits especially those that are magnetic because the IMS bearing is magnetic steel unlike the aluminum used on most other components in the block.
120000 miles and getting stronger every day.
How long did you own your 996?
I've worked on these cars for over 20 years and (and have owned the 2g, 3g, 4g and various other Mitsubishi 8 in total) you have no idea what you're talking about sorry. First, you keep talking about how much heavier the 3g over the 2g. Look at both top trims: 2g GSX 3,210 lb, 3g GTS 3,053 lb the 3g is almost 150lbs lighter. Secondly you say the 2g is stiffer, but the 3g chassis is actually stiffer vs the 2g by 10%. The 3g is the most underrated of all the Eclipse, around the same power as a 2g GSX, is lighter, has a stiffer chassis. The only thing it looses is awd and the more robust mod community, though you can still modify the 3g so I don't consider that an argument. Of every generation I found the 3rd to be the best, the 4th gen second, and the 2g third.
