      I think that maybe the villagers didn't build them, but maybe helped the ancient builders gather materials and the builders made the Golums look like them so they could appear friendly. 🤔🤔🤔
      I think that yes, the builders had pride, but personally...... in short, I prefer the explanation given in the endermen and wither vids.😊😊😊
      MatPat explains in the Enderman video that it's as if the Player and Villagers are almost.... "a different species". 😄😄 But anyway.

  • @summermelody7942
    @summermelody7942 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1893

    You know, I thought about something a while back.
    In the video where MatPat explained that the endermen were, at one point, humans, he said that if you look at one’s eyes with a pumpkin on your head, they won’t attack. Then he said that this might be because it reminds them of a simpler time.
    But I have a different idea.
    What if the reason why they don’t attack you is because the pumpkins you are wearing reminds them of the iron golems they had created with the ancestors of the villagers, which fills them with regret that they didn’t join the villagers. If they had, then they would have never had to travel to the nether, never tried to study the power over life and death, never created the wither, never had to flee to the end, and never would have become Endermen
    It’s amazing how much one small decision can make sometimes. For them, their one decision could have resulted in something very different, and whatever they built that the wither destroyed would have still been in the overworld

    MATPAT! Here's a crazy theory for ya on the origins of skeletons. Your zombie disease video makes sense, but doesn't explain the skeletons. No disease is going to keep a pile of bones floating around. You'd need magic to do that. Here's a quote from the Mobestiary, " Some have proposed that skeletons are ancient adventurers raised from death by an evil sorcerer." In the game Minecraft Dungeons there is a group of ancient necromancers who live in a desert temple. They have blue glowing eyes (the color of souls) and when they summon skeletons, you can see small blue souls float away from the summoning area. They even shoot soul fire blasts! But why are they themselves undead? Maybe because when they (or some other humans) summoned the wither, they noticed that it doesn't attack undead things, and they turned themselves undead to protect themselves. I hope you read this!

    • @kharanraj6546
      @kharanraj6546 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Or, here's my theory, during the rampage of the Wither, due to its wierd nether properties, since it's made from Wither Skeletons and Soul Sand, anyone hit with the decay of the Wither turns into a skeleton, since there isn't soul sand in the overworld, the souls would stay in the bodies, hence why they don't turn into Wither Skeletons.

    • @thepredatorita3945
      @thepredatorita3945 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@kharanraj6546 I initially thought that the Wither was the cause for the existence of both Zombies and Skeletons, but this makes more sense. As this is the Overworld and not the Nether, the Withered effect doesn't hit the decaying skeleton.

    Two things I was missing here:
    1.Illagers sometimes have captured Iron Golems at their outposts in cages. Never got around to releasing them to cause mayhem yet. Why would Illagers capture Golems instead of destroying them?
    2. Steve is capable of constructing Iron Golems , too. And if Steve does that, the Golem never turns hostile, even if Steve hits it directly. It just takes the punishment.
    And let’s not get into the implication of Villagers summoning an infinite supply of Golems when scared by a zombie or Illager which no one ethical mind would ever exploit for endless iron resources…

    • @Jgamer-jk1bp
      @Jgamer-jk1bp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The last one can be simply gameplay mechanics, but there's potential lore implications. Steve is capable of doing so since his ancestors were the ones who literally invented them, why wouldn't he be able to as well? Plus it could be simply a metallic construct being enchanted with minimal magic, that's why it doesn't drain EXP whenever you summon any of the golems.

    • @Woopor
      @Woopor ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think the illagers are just extremely bad with technology. They have fake replicas of end portals, fake map rooms, and other ritualistic structures that show that they’re trying to emulate technology, and aren’t advanced enough to replicate it, but Iron Golems are living breathing machines that have a purpose, so I’d guess they studied those to actually try and create something new (the ravagers)

    I like this theory involving the split between the villagers and the builders, and it might explain the rise of the Illagers as well. At some point after the ancient builders disappeared, some villagers not content with their daily routine would probably have sought out something new and ended up discovering something about their ancestry, which would eventually lead to their banishment of the villagers wanted to avoid the same mistakes made by their ancestors. That would also explain the Illager's cargo culting.

    • @ravenanimations3176
      @ravenanimations3176 3 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      I kinda just assumed they can use them, but don’t, since Illigers and Pilligers can use weapons, and Evokers can alternate between the sleeves together and arms in the air. They also seem to use simple tools like axes, pickaxes, and hoes on a semi-regular basis, considering that they have farmland, and houses with stone used for construction. Also, why would you take up using a sword when you have an Iron Protector that never sleeps, and keeps you safe? As soon as the player shows up though, they have a reason for making swords again, which is why you initially can’t buy them from a blacksmith most of the time. You can buy an axe, or some supplies, but swords aren’t unlocked until further transactions.
      Edit: I wrote this before I watched through the video, and I must say, I’m kinda proud

      I'm thinking some form of religious or moral reason as well, since they can make weapons (it's not like they just 'poof' weapons into existence, they do make them, just when we're not around). They have weaponsmiths and armorsmiths, after all, so they're able to produce items for war yet don't use them. Maybe it is just a tradition in honor of the ancient ones who could create and enchant items (explains why some stuff they make is enchanted), yet they could still be used by someone if needed. Even in this world we have crafters who create swords and armor for such reasons; like a tradition.

    I wanna throw in some TH-camr lore here as well. Do you guys know Dr Trayaurs? I probably messed up that spelling but if that name doesn't ring a bell let me explain. Dr Trayaurs was a villager friend of a very popular TH-camr DanTDM, he was "written" as a scientist but his variant was a librarian. He, like I said, was a scientist, a creator, he went against what the villagers believed in, being happy with what the builders left and no need for more creations. Dr Tray (which is now what I'm calling him) saw that fact and left. He met Dan and started living with him. He never (from my understanding) went back to his village because he was ashamed. Ashamed of leaving, ashamed of betraying them. He stays with Dan till this day and enjoys the freedom of being able to create whatever he desires. I don't think any of this is confirmed but it still seems enjoyable to me.

    When it comes to the central blue crystal, I think there's three ways to read it (although I honestly don't think any are intended)
    1. The lapis, like you mentioned; It's blue, it has powers, and it's found in the center of the wool statues
    2. Beacons; They're big blue crystals in the middle of the block, and hold great power.
    3. The gold in ocean monuments; it's kept in the center of the monument and obviously the center of the dark prismarine cube. It's also believed to hold the great power of god (if we're going with your past theory on it). Finally, it's protected by the ancient robotic guardians, who don't attack the drowned, AKA the ancient builders.
    Again, I don't think any of this was intended by the creators, I just think it's neat.

      Imagine this: The Ghasts and Iron Golems are actually from a literal castle in the sky- a moving, airborne biome (perhaps eventually seen in later game updates), built out of the technology of the ancient builders. That's why we don't see the Iron Golems lying around underground for villages to pop up and awaken them- they are literally dropped from the sky when the ancient technology detects a village with enough villagers to warrant protection (much like is seen in the referenced movie Castle in the Sky). The Ghasts that were native to the overworld originally were sky mobs that lived peacefully with the ancient builders (or more likely, they were created/modified by the builders considering the circuit boards and cannons seen in the Mobestiary) . That's why the achievement to take one to its "home" in the overworld and then killing it is labeled "uneasy alliance"- the concept of the alliance being that between builders and Ghasts (until Steve guts him for those sweet sweet tears- maybe the overworld Ghasts actually produced their magic tears while still alive, making them useful to the ancient builders, who decided they'd be way cooler with CANNONS).
      But when the builders started exploring the Nether they took Ghasts with them for protection... they just never brought them home.
      Is this all just because I want more Castle in the Sky references in everything and love the concept of seeing a sky biome someday? ...yes. yes it probably is. >_>

      @KingNedya 3 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      @@frecklecraft I think that blazes, unlike wither skeletons, were original denizens of the Nether. Same for ghasts and striders. Piglins and hoglins might be evolved forms of pigs that were brought to the Nether as a source of food, but when the builders died out, the pigs evolved in two different paths to better suit their environment. Magma cubes are probably evolved forms of slimes (I don't know, maybe they brought some to the Nether for a slime farm?).
      Actually, as I was typing this, I remembered that blazes spawn primarily in Nether fortresses, especially using blaze spawners, which were likely built by the ancient builders. Plus, blazes sound very robotic/metallic, especially when they get damaged. So perhaps blazes are like guardians, robots that were created by the builders to defend their structures.
      Ghasts and striders were probably originally from the Nether in the first place, though.

      @Autumn Dye Oh yeah, I forgot about the snow golems, thanks for reminding me.

    Going to write this out one more time: Ever wonder why it is that zombie villagers exist? Also, ever wonder why throwing a weakness potion at one and then feeding it a golden apple converts it into a normal villager? What does that mean for regular zombies? That couldn't work on them too, right? But what if, and stay with me here, it did and you as the player are living proof? Notice how every regular zombie wears the same shirt and pants as default skin Steve? does. What happened there, you ask? Well, even though villagers can't fight, they can still create potions and do blacksmithing. So one night an alchemist and a blacksmith cornered a zombie, the alchemist threw the weakness potion and the blacksmith fed the zombie the golden apple and then ran away before anything could happen. As luck would have it, the sun was just about to rise; and when it did the zombie got converted into you, the player. If you were still an unconverted zombie, the sun's rays would have made you burn up and die from the damage. Multiplayer servers prove the process is repeatable and dependable, but only in limited quantities. BUT HEY, THAT'S JUST A THEORY; A GAME THEORY!!! THANKS FOR READING!!!

That's because, depending on if you're playing a single player game or a multiplayer server, the effectiveness of said weakness potion and golden apple combo on a regular zombie varies from either one in a sextillion (single player) or one in a million (multiplayer). But hey, that's just a theory addendum; a game theory addendum. Thanks for reading.

      Cause apparently all Villagers and Animals survived.
      And what Steve is, is a whole other question unsolved.
      And that's not even all. This Theory is debunked by simple logic as it comes out.

    I have one more thing to add to Matpat's theory:
    When the Villagers and Builders split, there was a middle ground, one that wanted to invent but stay in place too..
    Driven mad by the pressure provided by both sides.... They were turned evil.. thus creating the illager...
    Now the illagers wanted to take revenge on the villagers and the builders... But they had already taken care of the builders by giving them the idea to create the wither... something so powerful that even they... The illagers, couldn't afford to keep. The illagers outposts are scattered around the world now... Ready to demolish any and every village.
    Hoping to be the last one standing... But atlas... There is one thing standing in there way...
    The player.
    Of course, this is just what I'm thinking and I'm not saying it's correct.

      The Blazes seem more like farms rather than fortress defense to be honest, almost as if they're held there like they're livestock. No wonder they hate us players so much

      @@theshermantanker7043 I don't think you've actually seen a Nether Fortress before. Those Blaze spawners are completely out in the open (unless they get buried due to procedural generation) where they can fly off, and not only that, but they look _very_ artificial compared to anything else you can find in the nether.
