This is a very useful video. Thanks to the creator for this video and firmware file, as well as Bang Corrupt for hacktribe, and Jonathan, the creator of sample file manager. I would ask people who use the softwares to donate to the creators, please. In the video, it is commented about not sure what happens when original sample files are re-numbered to appear after the hacktribe oscillators. In other words, what happens if we re-number from 275 (first OSC slot after hacktribe OSCs) instead of 501. My experience (using original black E2S) is that the first 10 kick files "disappear". We go from hacktribe 274 OSCs to number 285 with "Jazz" kick. It's like slots from 275 to 284 are "hidden" along with the original OSCs. So, if you can live without the first 10 files, it flows from 285 starting as "Jazz". I even tried to re-number from 285. Then, we go from hacktribe OSCs in first 274 slots, skipping (invisible) until 295 which starts with Jazz kick again. Also, if you made it this far into the interwebs and reading this comment, if anyone knows how to import patterns from electribe (synth: gray, blue), which are *.e2pat files, into electribe sampler (black, red), please let me know. With hacktribe, my E2S has the synth waves and filters available on my E2 so I'd like to bring my patterns and songs over, even if it means I have to edit the patterns some. But I don't think they are compatible. I tried simply renaming *.e2pat files to *.e2spat files, which is convention for sampler. When importing, I get file error. Thank you.
Thanks! I realised it was more easy than what initially appeared and, in addition, many could be scared by the patching phase. I could make it only when I was playing with Linux after ages
@@DominicJacksonFilm the hacktribe OS for the red sampler is available for download in a shared folder I created. Just check in the description. You will find the link there. Avoid hacking the o the her versions with that file, though
Thanks Paolo! My Electribe 2 Sampler (2015 black version) hasn't even arrived yet (tomorrow hopefully) but I'm already thinking the Hacktribe is the way to go. You've made the install/uninstall look so easy, which is fantastic. I'll have to join the community and keep track of future updates. Exciting times! All the best, David
Thanks for your message David. Indeed on the red the process is very straight forward now. I went forth and back several times now. I only recommend to check in the original GitHub post on peculiarities for the older versions. I'm not sure if you have maybe to install the latest original firmware first 2.02. Please check there and keep me posted.
Thanks Paolo! I'll certainly check GitHub and what firmware version is on the machine when it arrives (still waiting for UPS!). I've not had an Electribe before so I probably should get familiar with it first before adding Hacktribe. Loving your guitar playing btw! Keep it up!

@@paolopiergentili3839 nope, it loads all the original Samples from 1-274, even tho I used your e2sSamples-501 file (where are no Samples from 0-500). All my own Samples up from 550 it Cuts off, so I only have a few of my own Samples from 501-550. I did everything like you did in this Video. Dont know what's wrong :(
Hi, Thanks much for creating this video and sharing the files. It has been very useful! Quick question, how can we re-map all factory patterns saved on the Electribe at once to match the new sample's order starting at the 501 slot. Is there any way to achieve this without doing manually for each pattern? The factory patterns are great to learn rhythms and beats. Thanks a lot again!
Hello, i got the black Korg with hacktribe on it, i bought it from a random guy. He has switched the factory samples with his owns. I dindt find any way how i can get the factory samples back, when i use sample manager theres no sound on the korg. Am i able to make a factory reset without losing the hacktribe, i dont have it on the sd card anymore
I'd just like to say a BIG thank you for providing the ready made relocated samples files. I just loaded e2sSample_501 and it works on my pink "Hacktribed" sampler. What is the effect of loading e2sSampleKORG ? Of course the factory patterns from 001-150 are still using the memory slots now populated by the new hacktribe synth voices instead of the relocated samples. Is there a fix to this explained anywhere? (Apologies if I missed it!)
@paolopiergentili3839 ah OK understood. I did try before using the original sample file and I got either no response or "Error" but thankfully no damage done. Thanks for the reply
Hi Paolo! All going well in installing hacktribe in my electribe 2 sampler (red version) until I go into the part of export the samples to the e2sSample.all library editor... never apper in the editor the samples :( I tried several times at same like you in the video. Now the sounds in my electribe are a mess... Then I tried to go back to the original electribe firmware and don´t could do it...the hacktribe firmware still there. I am sure I am doing something wrong but I dont know what... and I could see in your sd card that you have more files installed there that I dont have... please help me
Paolo! I have dosnt see the filles you give in Google drive... I have downloaded and then get in the sd card then actualize it with es2sampler.all and I get it work well ... I fell in peace :) Only want to ask you why dindnt tell to download them in your video?
Hi, u r welcome, happy to hear it is clear enough. Nope, it does not erase the patterns. Though, please consider that the sound banks will be moved, then you will have the "wrong" sounds in the expected sounds memory positions. For example, the kicks use to start from position 19; after the hack, in position 19 you will find a different synth oscillator. Then, although the patterns themselves are there, you will have to manually change the soundset and save them again
I got through the first part and then trying to export samples in the second step. My tribe gives me an error, saying that the SD card is right protected and that’s not true.
Happy of hearing this. I still went back and forth with my red sampler without troubles and it is becoming easier and easier. Once you understand the way to build your own SD card with the two firmware versions, you can implement the process without changing it
The difference between e2 and e2s is also genre related. E2 is for EDM and e2s is more hip hop based. If there would be no hacktribe, I would definitely go with e2. But how does the hacktribe version sounds on e2s? Is it more EDM orientated?
it didn't change my life, then i went back to the original firmware....no need of additional synths and filters, speaking for myself, clearly. i would have preferred some work on the sequencer section, instead....adding randomization...more bars..just like for the Volca Pajen's Hack...that would have been a no-brainer!
Hello! I make a query. Does the hacktribe include new oscillators or new oscillator-type samples? I see in minute 4.33 how instead of modeling an oscillator, it simply changes the start point, as if it were a Sample and not a synthesizer. It's right?
Thanks for posting. I'll give this a go but it sounds like I'll have to re-define oscillator numbers for song patterns that I've already made i.e. adding 500 to them all. No biggie considering the cool new filters, oscillators and grooves..
I just did it. It took a few hours and as I suspected the sounds were jumbled up in the beats I'd already made but I exported them to Ableton beforehand so it was quite easy to find the sounds again.. Thanks again!
Ciao Paolo I have the Gray electribe (Synth) and Im just interested in the Sampler function.Does it work by only doing the first step? I don't care about the factory samples and everything else. I have a Mac and I wouldn't be able tu run all that software stuff!
The process should be almost similar, but I could not person as lot test it and the file is for the sampler. I do not recommend to follow my process on the synth ones
hi, i never tried. ... the fact that it is expressly names "e2sample" editor tells me it might work on ly with those. But i would suggest you try with an "offline" file saved on your laptop first
Hi, I just uploaded in the ".all" folder both the e2sSampleKORG (original presets) and the e2sSample501 (original presets moved to slot 501). Just check here drive.google.com/drive/folders/14B1orGRtLY4X8GH3lwf1yW18tRanNr5e?usp=share_link
Now, Q's: If one has a factory reset machine (so no user samples in ES2) does one need to do the 'sample move' step? Are these user samples or the Factory waves? IIRC user samples were loaded into slot 501 by default. So now, this 501 will have the Korg Factory waveforms? and the Hacktribe waves are from 01-275 - is this correct? If so where will user samples load by default? Lastly, is there a hacktribe-manual? CH33RS
Hacktribe will delete anything that is stored between 19 and 274. Factory reset machines have kicks starting from 19, snares right after and so on, as far as I know. Then those would be lost, not only users samples. With regards to a "manual", the best you can find is right on the Github forum (link provided in the description) I'm afraid. Thus I wanted to make a more detailed tutorial for the installation phase
Thanks for putting up a more detailed guide! I have previously installed hacktribe on a grey synth version. I know that reverting back on sampler version is just a matter of flashing the normal firmware. Unfortunately on synth version the firmware header must be edited before flashing. This editing the header task is beyond my capabilities. Is there any chance you could edit that firmware and share with us in the download folder please?
there's a mate on Electribe Lovers FB group that might have done that. i was right asking whether he could made the edited file available. i'll keep you posted

Thank you very much Paolo - finnally I‘ve made it too - works fine! I come from germany and before i mentioned your tutorial it was impossible to flash my red sampler. 😆 Just a des edits, maybe to help others: #MEMORY ISSUE With that sample Manager software you‘ve linked (Thank you very much for the software and the scripts!!) i was not able to get the original samples to #501 etc, because i found noch way to rename the numbers on my computer(Win8.1) and so i stupidly tried to copy my original .all just oder the patched one and - of course - caused that Memory issue the bangcorrupt team warned of… at half volume there was a terrible ‚beeeep‘ as background noise and it was absolutely impossible to accept that. BUT I WAS ABLE TO FIX IT!🎉 1.) Flash back to the original Firmware - Bit the issue was still there - and 2.) I set it back to factory reset and voila: silence where it should be 😅👌😌! Then, 3.) i took a little courage and installed the hacktribe firmware ONCE AGAIN, because in your Video you showed us that ‚switching‘ is possible and i wanted to thank you very much for that content Paolo!!✌️🍀 Now everything works well and i found that in one of the downloaded hacktribe folders, named ‚content‘ was another .all data from a guy called thomas herrmann (He‘s done the other little Tutorial video for hacktribe here on youtube ) and there i found some nice samples though the original ones were ‚gone‘ and together with the sample manager software i‘m extremely happy to have got a fresh clean hacktribe, which i will fill up now with nice new sounds of my own. 😊❤ Greetings from germany, and i Think of you with the next ‚drop‘ 😋 Bye
thanks so much for your appreciation! I decided to make this video because me-myself had troubles in doing the process at first, the most difficult part being hacking the firmware. Once done, i realized i could simply make the file available so to allow the people to skip that part. I am sorry i cannot easily do the same for those with Synth version, it created a couple of troubles i could not fix since owner of Sampler only. ....then, once someone tells me it works great, it is a great reliefe for me! :) Tchuss!

Hey Paolo, I’ve been trying the install on a electribe synth version, but I copy and paste the file System on the sd card and once I try to do software update it says: error file. Do you know what’s going on?
Hi frank, the process and files are for the sampler one. There are small difference, but I do not recommend to apply on the synth (I hope I wrote it everywhere I could)
I just purchased a used Electribe 2 Sampler (red edition) with the Hacktribe update installed. I would like to be able to return it to the original Korg firmware, but since I am formatting SD card from Hacktribe updated unit, I can't seem to get it to do a software update back to Korg version. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (It also came with no samples loaded and I would love to be able to get this unit back to it's original state)
if you look at the last section of the video, you will find the instructions on how to organize the SD folders to go back to the original firmware. Please let me know if it is clear enough in the video
I installed hacktribe on a new sd card(without any user samples) and after the export all sample step i dont have the e2ssample.all file in the electribe sampler -> sample folder what to do? i think i have the new hacktribe waveforms but not the old ones
can't say what went wrong in your case, but you can try copying the .all files i made available in the shared folder in your card. Please open the "Description" to the video and you'll find the link there
Hi. Is there any way to return Electribe 2 synth, blue version, to original state, with original samples and patterns (demo songs). I do not like hacktribe. Thanks
Hi, FIRST THING: i could test only the processes for the RED one, i do not have experience of the Blue. Having said that, i would say the process is the same i am presenting in the last section of the video for the E2S. Then, place the original firmware in the "hacktribe --> system" folder. When updating the firmware, the system will check there for the firmware to be used.
It would be great if your could include a link here... It's some time since i stopped following the developements. You're up to speed more than me for sure!
When exporting chain audio from hacktribe, I found it does not save the mfx effect, this is a real problem. All sounds turn out raw and you have to add these effects to Ableton again. Does anyone know how to remove it?
I'm sorry, I have to say I'm not that expert on the detailed behaviour of the hacktribe (I decided to go back and stay with the original one). Just check the Github page for details
Hi, well: the process itself should be identical. Only, the hacktribe firmware that i am sharing here in the drive is for the red one only. Something should be changed to be made suitable for the synth ones (...i always red that "THE HEADER" should be changed, but i do not know which header....). If you can find the proper file for the synth one, i feel that you can then use the same process described in my video.
Much thx for tutorial and for download files Already in hacktribe and i also try return to factory firmware all goes well only have complication editor dont want show factory samples... So i musted return to original make all sample File already with factory samples theese are show in editor so i moved them to 501 and returned on Card :)) update me realy like well done to hacktribe Team You and InvisblleThea!!!
There are different ways you might be doing it... Not sure what could be wrong with limited information. It might even be that the file you are uploading does not contain any sample in the end. Let me see if I can make a video as example...
@@paolopiergentili3839 I am having the same problem. If I create a sample manually on the tribe and save it, I can get that sample to appear in the OE2SS program but none of the factory samples from korg, so i dont know how I can edit them to start at 501
Actually I think I resolved this. After you format the SD card and put that SD card into the computer, make a copy of the e2sSample.all file and put it somewhere not on the SD card. Edit that copy to have the samples start at 501 as shown in the video. Then proceed with the steps as outlined, but once you get to the step in the video where he edits the e2sSample.all file, just replace the file in hacktribe/Sample with the copy that you've already edited. Plug that SD card into the electribe, restart it and it loads all the samples plus the new oscillators. :)

Ciao!

Thank you.
I do agree with you! I personally donated to the hacktribe team and sponsoring for the same at the end of the video. They deserve it!

I have installed everything in a gray electribe and it works perfectly.
The gray is the"old" sampler?

Excellent tutorial! I'm sure this will help lots of newcomers to get started with installing and using the Hacktribe firmware.
Thanks! I realised it was more easy than what initially appeared and, in addition, many could be scared by the patching phase. I could make it only when I was playing with Linux after ages

Keep it up!

Someone was thinking to create a tool for that, but I am not aware of any so far, I am afraid
@@paolopiergentili3839 Thank you for your prompt reply! Hopefully, we can have access to a tool to fix this issue at some point soon. Cheers!

I tell you, I never tried. From Github forum they say you should avoid using the original one (which I labelled KORG) to prevent memory errors
Thanks for the video. Quick question, does the hack erase any patterns that are saved on the Electribe?
Hi, u r welcome, happy to hear it is clear enough. Nope, it does not erase the patterns. Though, please consider that the sound banks will be moved, then you will have the "wrong" sounds in the expected sounds memory positions. For example, the kicks use to start from position 19; after the hack, in position 19 you will find a different synth oscillator. Then, although the patterns themselves are there, you will have to manually change the soundset and save them again
I got through the first part and then trying to export samples in the second step. My tribe gives me an error, saying that the SD card is right protected and that’s not true.
Great tutorial. Grazie Paolo!
Do you get to use the OSC Edit knob if you convert a sampler to hacktribe? And other way round?
thanks so much this worked flawlessly on my red es2
It's right?
i would say it new oscillators, not samples only. it varies the detune phases / the detune in a FM osc couple...
Yes, renumbering is important. It's explained in the video itself
Sei un grande grazie per questo :D
Ciao Paolo I have the Gray electribe (Synth) and Im just interested in the Sampler function.Does it work by only doing the first step? I don't care about the factory samples and everything else.
I have a Mac and I wouldn't be able tu run all that software stuff!
The process should be almost similar, but I could not person as lot test it and the file is for the sampler. I do not recommend to follow my process on the synth ones
Is the e2Sample.all library editor can edit the library for the non sampler electribe 2 ?
No need input audio if we work sounds on PC ?
hi, i never tried. ... the fact that it is expressly names "e2sample" editor tells me it might work on ly with those. But i would suggest you try with an "offline" file saved on your laptop first
is it on the grey one possible two with the same firmware/software?
Do you have that moved 501 sample file?
Hi, apologize, reading only now your question. I'll try to work on that. I'll write to you when done!

With that sample Manager software you‘ve linked (Thank you very much for the software and the scripts!!) i was not able to get the original samples to #501 etc, because i found noch way to rename the numbers on my computer(Win8.1) and so i stupidly tried to copy my original .all just oder the patched one and - of course - caused that Memory issue the bangcorrupt team warned of… at half volume there was a terrible ‚beeeep‘ as background noise and it was absolutely impossible to accept that.

Hi, FIRST THING: i could test only the processes for the RED one, i do not have experience of the Blue. Having said that, i would say the process is the same i am presenting in the last section of the video for the E2S. Then, place the original firmware in the "hacktribe --> system" folder. When updating the firmware, the system will check there for the firmware to be used.

so installing on grey old synth version is not raccomended ?
Hi, well: the process itself should be identical. Only, the hacktribe firmware that i am sharing here in the drive is for the red one only. Something should be changed to be made suitable for the synth ones (...i always red that "THE HEADER" should be changed, but i do not know which header....). If you can find the proper file for the synth one, i feel that you can then use the same process described in my video.

Hi, when importing the samples into the library editor, they don't appear. Do you know what I am doing wrong perhaps please?
There are different ways you might be doing it... Not sure what could be wrong with limited information. It might even be that the file you are uploading does not contain any sample in the end. Let me see if I can make a video as example...

Have you had any luck with this? I am having the same issue.

Wow.... One million dollars question.. No idea! But I guess there must be a release for iOS (or equivalent software)
Shit. Lol! Thanks for the reply.
It worked for someone in the blue electribe?
something similar can be done with the Blue, but i do not have the right hacked file system. Then i DO NOT recommend to try it using my files which are FOR THE RED ONLY. Apart from that, the process is very similar.
Hey guys, I can't format my card on my Korg. what can I do?
That's strange... It's a standard feature of the ES, just deep dive in the menu
so it happened to me twice and i was almost about to give up so the thing is you will have to use 32gb or lower, 32 worked for me and it should be sdhc not any other. hope it helped you
Hey men I did mistake, I didn't save back up. Any chance put electribe to factory setup. I don't have the original sample. Thanks for response 👍 (sorry my English is not wery well)
i might uploade the factory presets in the shared folder. let me give a look at that
@@paolopiergentili3839 thanks i already got everything back 😉
@@SuperFerenc23 i'm not the fastest to reply, i am sorry, but happy to hear everything went fine
@@paolopiergentili3839 tonight I will give a try again. Hope I'm not fuck up again 😃😉
thank you
I think this Hack is just for Electribe Sampler 2. I tried to use with Electribe 2 (Gray version, just synth) but the console tell me "Invalid File". There is the Hacktribe for Gray version on Electribe 2??? thx
The process should be the same but the file needs to be modified. Thus I wrote in the description to use it for the red sampler only
@@paolopiergentili3839 the process is same, same step, same file but why your file doasnt work with my console? Is there someone that have the file ready for electribe 2 synth?
@@user-vq4vp8vl8e nope: as i wrote in the description, the file for the Sampler does not work on the Synth. I personally prepared the file for the red ES2, which i fully trust, but it won't work on the synth. A guy made available the proper file for the Synth, but I decided to put it in quarantene since it created troubles to a couple of people, and i could not personally guarantee for it. though he shared the file on the FB group of Electribe Lovers, you can find it there.
I am sorry for the complexity, but i could not make it better
@@paolopiergentili3839 if not exist a safe version of Hacktribe for synth I prefer not risk to block my electribe. I hope someone will find a solution. Thanks

can u make a tutorial for the Blue one, pls
Hi... It should not be very different, but I do.not own one, therefore I cannot test it on my-self first. Being quite an intrusive procedure, don't want to spread something I have not personally tested and create troubles to others.
Comment obtenir le dossier oe2s?
Le fichier est dans le dossier partagé
Is the elective easy to brick doing this
do you mean that the process may easily result in breaking the Electribe? if you have direct experiences of this, please let us know, it would be very important. I am basing this on my own trial and, so far, it went smooth
@@paolopiergentili3839 yes
@@ianfuller2641 please tell us more! (i may want to integrate with a disclaimer...but i did not read enough about this)
Apply patch to Electribe Sampler firmware version 2.02 only.
Once patched, the firmware will run on either device.
@@paolopiergentili3839 ok ti ringrazio
Grazie ancora
My electribe2 (blue) is cracked after the update but I used the right file you put in google drive for the blue one ....
Damn. I personally tested the hack for the red one, which I've done several times wth no issues. Another user worked on the blue hack and he also had no issue. Let me check with him. There should be instruction to unbrick the units on GitHub. I come back to you asap
Here first result by checking on GitHub github.com/bangcorrupt/hacktribe/wiki/Debrick#is-it-bricked
just to tell that i did not forgot of you. i'm checking around about the Blue Electribe (since i only have the red one and all my experience is on that). i keep you posted.
just wanted to know how this evolved and if you could solve the situation. What i can say is that (at least for the sampler), you may want to create a new SD card with the two subfolders "electribe sampler" / "hacktribe" and upload there - in each SYSTEM folder - either the original firmware and the hacked firmware to see which works. maximum i 4 attempts. I'm asking to others with the Blue Electribe feedback on how it went.
Can you give me the hacked file please
Just open the description and you'll get the link to a shared folder. Beware: it applies to ES2 red sampler only.
@@paolopiergentili3839 Ahh thank you, now I just have to use the original simples like snare,hi hats Shop... where can I find the original samples for the system
@@paolopiergentili3839 It all works uhaaa thank you very much!!! Honor man🤩🤩🤩🤩💥💥💥💪💪💪
It's so complicated :/ i need easy stepps
:( so sorry... This is the easiest but most accurate process I could illustrate. I would suggest to avoid applying the hack if you do not feel comfortable. In the end , the electribe is a great machine as it is, as well.
this video is useless you dont show how to apply the patch to the firmware ??
If you follow it carefully, in the very beginning I am explaining that I am sharing the patched firmware (check in the description for the link), do you can skip that part of the process. It applies to the red sampler only, though.
I❤Y THX git sucks you rules. Sorry git😅
Though... They made the hard job. I just put together a tutorial and made the files available 😊
