Nah, watkins had been playing striker for about 4-5 seasons now. That brentford famous front line BMW benrahma mbuemo and watkins were lighting up the championship since maupay left. Guess who was the striker between mbuemo benrahma and watkins? Pretty obvious to me

He played in the Premier League for 5-6 years. Was he an “elite player” at the very elite level of the game? No. But if a guy like Deeny who played at nearly the highest level of the game can’t comment on players then what right does your average fan have to do so?
With the same logic we can say: Who are you to question Troy Deeney? Have you played in the Prem? Or have you worked as a pundit or some other kind of media professional?

Deeney was an average striker and now moved to be an average pundit. We are not complaining
Over both players premier league careers there isn't much in the goals per game stats. But under Emery Watkins is far better, he is also joint top for assists.
Watkins has played almost as many Premier League games under Emery as Toney has played in 3 seasons and that stat reads as 34 goals in 56 games to Toney's 36 goals in 79 games.
Ollie’s stats are better than Troy’s in the prem, so Troy wasn’t a striker. If you consistently score goals as a number 9 then you are a striker by definition. He’s 1 goal and 2 assists off doing something only 2 players have ever done. At least 20 goals and assists in the prem. what this guy talking about

Watkins lowest scoring season in the Premier League is better than Deeneys highest. Also, Watkins hasn’t finished his 4th Premier League season yet, and he’s got more goals than Deeney got in 6 full seasons in the Premier League.
That's incorrect. Troy Deeney played only 5 full seasons in the Premier League and his highest scoring season is 13 goals which was in 2015/16. Watkins' lowest scoring season is 11 goals in 2021/22. Also, overall, Watkins has also played more minutes per game, and Deeney fewer, because of substitutions.

I’m a Villa fan and I agree with him. Watkins is a good striker but I think he would be better on the wing if Villa had an out-and-out goal scorer. Ollie gets goals but he also has a lot of chances. You rarely see him power a ball through the net. Good in the air, hard working runner and can score - he proves that - but he is not the perfect front man.
