Watkins 19 premier league goals none of which have been penalties.
Because he kept missing them last season 😅

So ? That guy goes missing when it matters the most, any hint of pressure , he folds

Didn't Simon say Villa won't even lay a glove on Arsenal before the match?
He changes his take more than Rashford changing his form 😂
He changes opinions more than Foden has UCL knockout goals
I came here hoping to find a clip of Jim White rubbing it in 😅
I’m an admirer of Simon, but he does need to own the fact that he was wrong here.
@@jeffisontheairHe does this all the time.
😂 😂 😂
It took quite sometime for Emery to rebuild his reputations after he was fired from Arsenal. He showed everybody and entire Arsenal fanbase that he's a class manager.
He hasn’t shown the arsenal fanbase anything other than he can beat arsenal. Villa are 4th and we’ll see if they seal a ucl berth but the truth is he didn’t do anything extraordinary in his full season at Arsenal where he sacrificed a premier league home game against Palace and played a weaker team (starting Carl Jenkinson in 2019 ffs] to keep players rested for the Europa league in midweek when top 4 was in our hands. Then look at the performance HIS team produced for us in the UEL final where they played it like it was a preseason game. Even if you want to say the first season was ok the performances in the second season where he got sacked were nothing short of an absolute shambolic disgrace. He deserved to get the sack when he got it and most Arsenal fans who showed reason at the time and now would’ve always known he’s decent but not the right fit for a club like Arsenal that has been at the top of English football at the start of the century and has legitimate aspirations of getting back there
Arsenal fans never took to him.
Never gave him a chance and hounded him out at the first sign of struggle.
For comparison they accepted Arteta 2 consecutive 8th place finishes
@@ziudra91 The first 8th place finish is the work started by Unai Emery that season where we were primed to finish lower than that if he wasn’t replaced ASAP. Arteta then managed to salvage the season with an FA Cup win where we beat City and Chelsea in the semis and final respectively. Of course Arteta being a former player that was liked and showing potential the year before bought him time with the fans but still there were people that would’ve wanted him out. With Emery you certainly expected more from the start of that 19/20 (his second season) where you criticise for Arteta finishing 8th when he’s an established manager fresh off the PSG job
Everyone knows emery is a top manager he just made some mistakes but he definitely is and always has been an elite manager. And a lot of people saying he ‘proved’ himself with villa is not just casual anymore it’s just so stupid he literally took Villarreal to a ucl semis with a group of mostly rejects and young promising players after he won them the Europa League against united and all those Europa League trophies with Sevilla
@@vicsdunleavy21Arsenal's squad was dire the fact he got to the final and nearly got UCL football from league positions is impressive

Villa are in Europe and in the top 4 with alot of injuries, with an elite manager, imagine what they could achieve without so many serious injuries. Villla a great entertaining team

Villa were brilliant yesterday. Deserve to be where they are. I’m a Newcastle fan, there seems to be a rivalry with Villa amongst a lot of our fans. I can’t be arsed with all that though. Fair play to Villa. Hope the FFP rules change at some point so they , as well as others, to build a squad that can play in Champions league as well as maintain premier league
As a Villa fan I’m predicting 2 great clubs of football history, namely Villa and Newcastle, play their way into the top 6. Who they shove out doesn’t matter. Maybe Chelsea and Man U. Remember Man U have only had 2 great managers in their whole history.
Tbf I want aware of a rivalry 😂🤷🏻♂️ I usually see Newcastle fans complimentary towards Villa than any other club on comments
Love hearing Villa be talked about this way 🎉
Villa's owners have been fantastic & are consistently improving the club in all areas step by step, they've given Unai Emery full control over the football side of the club which is paying off big time,a great time to be a Villa fan & the future looks bright...... up the mighty Villa!!!
I am a lifelong Villa fan.
I was a born in in late 79 and was only knee high the last time we won the league, that night in Rotterdam and super cup the year later.
Bought up by a single working mom with my sister.
I can remember being taken to Villa Park when we where in the second division playing Norwich on a cold wet midweek night about the time Taylor came in by family friends.
Aston Villa has a unprecedented history, second to no one.
We expect and want to fight for the league, cups and European football, but we are realists.
We know we can’t compete with the “glamorous” teams with massive finances, just not going to happen.
But is doesn’t stop us from dreaming and with the decline of the likes of Man U and Liverpool ( a big club with 30 years between titles ) with the unbelievable talent they’ve had it maybe time for the “big 6” to change!
How can you be champions of Europe without winning your domestic league first? Doesn’t make sense, never has, or seem right!
Massive finances? Mate, we’re not short of a Bob or two. Qualifying for the CL and decent league finish coupled with the Adidas deal changes the revenue altogether
Second to no one pmsl your history is in the 1800s after that ur well below forest 😂😂
@@villan81we haven’t secured qualification yet, if we fall at this hurdle things start to look dicier. Also people seem to forget that when you start getting top 4/playing UCL your revenue might increase but so do your costs, and the fee/wage inflation at the top end of the spectrum is far larger and harder to keep up with than it is further down. Not to mention that the big 6 will be doing everything they can to get us tripped up on FFP and put back in our place

Troy Deeney just got humiliated 😅
He must be sick of that this season 😅
He's a nob
Not a lot of people know this, but Troy Deeney’s real father is Dwight York. 👍
I dont think people realise just how much backing Villa's owners bring to the table.
Naseef Sawiris and Wes Ednes combine for more than 10 billion and they have just sealed a deal to bring investment into their Vsports group from Altairos who add another 6 billion in assets and Altairos is a long term strategic partner of Comcast, they basically dont go ahead with any investment without Comcast giving the go ahead so even any link to them no matter how coincidental is a very exciting prospect for Villa fans. They will be competing near the top for many years to come.
Yea we're on the up we just need the money to balance the books in order to spend which with Adidas tripling the money we get from the kit manufacturer, Betano doubling our kit sponsor (for two seasons until betting companies are banned from sponsorship)money and Champions League money nevermind selling players we will be in it for the long haul
I can see a future sponsorship deal with Comcast. That would bring some serious revenue. utv
Hopefully Villa can continue to strengthen their team and not fall foul to FFP and potentially sell prized players. Saying that I applaud what measures Ratcliff has bought in a Man U to do away with unnecessary expenditure. Maybe more clubs need to take a leaf from this and get down to what really matters and run football clubs better in terms of it being a viable business from commerce to the footballing issues.
1 goal behind Haaland with ZERO penalties. Ollie is coming into his own, praying for him to win the golden boot! UTV!
And a lot more assists
Watkins is player of the season. He has to win it. He won’t. But he has too. 19 league goals without any of them being penalties, plus 10 league assists. How can it not be him. ?
If it came down to goals and hard graft then Watkins would walk player of the year. Mainoo has had a few decent games and he’s wonderful. Why? He plays for Man U.
Emery is easily the best manager in the league
I’d love to see villa in the champions league and Luton and Ipswich in the premier league next season
I’m sorry Martin O Neill. Please go do one. We are not an entitled fanbase. We are a passionate and loyal fanbase that has stuck with our club through thick and thin. There’s a big difference. Additionally, you nearly destroyed our club by signing terrible players on huge wages. Broke the wage bill and abandoned us on the eve of the season opener. Your arrogance came above everything else and I’m frankly sick of you rewriting history to suit your own ends. Emery has worked his ass off and his trust in the players, especially the rotation of players had paid off, he’s the better coach and that’s why we are where we are. We are proud to be fighting for champions league and it is deserved after a hard fought campaign.
Spot on. 👍👍👍
Not Martin's fault the owner let him use whatever he wanted all managers would do that he had us up in the top 6 several seasons and would have gone Into top 4 if it wasn't for Randy Lerner ! He was the one that almost destroyed our club!!
I'm pretty sure he meant "entitled" in the way you trying to correct him by.
Well said
Unforgivable to walk out when he did.
Love hearing Martin O'Neil talk about his time at Villa.
Very fond childhood memories of his seasons in charge.
All went downhill after him really.
And in some way because of him. Inflated wages on players not worth a dime and an insistence of buying only British players.
Newcastle got into the champions league spots playing only in the premier league.
Villa have proven that they can get into the champions league spots whilst also managing European football in the week.
Newcastle made a domestic cup final in the same season 😂
Watkins goals are pure goals, what about his assists too? Amazing 👍
Seeing MON talk about Villa still makes me angry about the way he ran away just before the start of the season.
Yea such a shame ain't it but he has admitted he made that mistake atleast but I would say if it wasn't for Houlliers health issues it would've been for the best especially with the way Randy Lerner was at the time.
Yes randy learner proved he was not up to it @@dennisgoatimer1079
Yeap left us in a mess. Haven’t forgiven him.
Imagine being such a work horse for your team you’re being told to stop doing “needless running” OW tracks back, presses every time, gets into space, he can drop back like kane an collect the ball, can go long and hold the ball up like drogba at times. But it’s true now we have Bailey an Diaby there’s plenty service he needs to stay central and just look how he’s improved. Absolute machine all credit to him.
Yea what a machine and to think the guy has asthma seeing him running especially back then but even now with his off the ball movements you wouldn't of thought

well not lately, we don't get pens awarded anymore , I think an opposition player could grab hold of the ball with both hands and I'd be doubtful the ref would give a pen after some of the decisions we've seen in the 2nd half of the season
How many Prem pens has Dougie scored ?
@@KyronBuggy-mb7og From memory villa have had 4 penalties this season in the league, all taken and converted by Luiz and all in the first few months of the season and definitely none since December, The reason Luiz takes them is Unai could see what most Villa fans could, and that was Watkins was unconvincing as a penalty taker, career wise he manages 1 in 2 from the spot.
No he wouldn’t. That why he doesn’t take pens

More so than the 82 win, Villa founded professional football in England. Villa got to play a small part in the history of growth and development of the English game. Plenty of Scottish heritage in this Villa club too.
Simon literally said the other day how Villa aren’t that good and have no chance against Arsenal. Simon is like a boomer Rory.
Born in Aston, Birmingham and proud 😊
Headline should read. "Monday Morning Quarterbacks Wear Glasses".
Watkins is already at his peak. Probably only one to two seasons before he declines. If Villa doesn't strengthen the squad next season, it will all go to waste.
I heard Martin luther King being quoted, respects!!!
Deeney didn’t seem to grasp Ollie has been our centre forward since his arrival about 4-5 years ago, how he plays hasn’t changed much he’s just got better at it. Also Ollie does not take pens for Villa so all goals are from open play or set pieces unlike Halland, toney etc. so 19 goals and ten assists, in recent seasons he’s had at least 15 plus numerous assists and hit the woodwork 8 times in one season too. He didn’t start out as a winger either he played no9 played out left for Brentford for 3 seasons. If you take John McGinns career so far he’s played left back , left wing , no 10, left and right midfield and DM !! Doesn’t stop him from being a very good player and versatile.
I agree with Troy Deeney though,he is similar to Marcus Rashford. Let's see if he can continue this form next season
7:16 That flame broiled if you've never seen it.
Ollie watkins has another great stat the most assists in the prem. So not only the top striker but also top player allround
"Look what happened to Newcastle"
I know, at 6th place, fighting for Europe next season, horrendous what happened, and with the squad they've got? Shocking
We ain't going to be like Newcastle anywhere we will be better but it's hardly a bad thing with their injuries but hey we're here with European football and our injuries sooo yea
They compare Villa to Newcastles situation this season, like Villa might qualify for the UCL for 1 season & then they'll just drop off the next season & go straight out of the UCL early. Well the big difference between these 2 clubs is that Villa have already won the competition before in 1982,Villa have a proven elite manager who has won 4 European trophy's already & has qualified for 16 seasons in a row at different clubs & in multiple countries for European competitions. Where as Eddy Howe only managed a club in Europe this season for the 1st time, the situations couldn't be more different...... up the mighty Villa!!!
Sir Jordanite = Top LAD Proper Clobber 💯 Facts
Henry, he started out as a wide player, but became one of the best strikers the prem has seen.
Great 4th place in the league table.
It was only a couple of weeks ago he was saying spurs would get 4th and not villa!!!
That comment about it Deeney from Martin was harsh 😂
Also to Watkins's credit, all goals from open play, no penalties
Emery has always been a class manager
It's so nice to hear good things about our great club 💜💙 it's taken long enough to get a little respect put on Aston Villas name. Next stop....is putting sky and their commentators in their places
In a weird way I agree with Deeney about Watkins one on one, but defo not a winger. Never 100% confident he will finish. Dont get me wrong, his work rate and all round play this season has been top class. I maintained if you put him against Archer with ten 1v1s then my money would be on Archer coming out on top.
Its funny you have a direct comparision between Villa and Tottenham and how they spent the windfall they got from Grealish and Bale respectively.
Only 30 million from that 100 million has us where we are this season though - Bailey, Danny Ings did nothing as was sold last season and Buendia been injured the whole season
Great narrative though
Troy Deeney saying he doesn't think Ollie is a striker is rich.
Great season for Villa but next season will be a challenge for them
Ollie has 26 goals for the season with the 7 in Europe no one menttions & not one pen plus 10 asists .How can anyone pick Toney over him for the Euros Deeney just trolling typical Bluenose . He is the hardest working striker in Premier league the complete striker .
I'm a villa fan, and i genuinely think we're not ready for it yet...
If we get top 4 this season, then next season, we will not make it out of the group, we will not have any cup runs, and our league position will dwindle...
I want us to be there, but I want us to be there and be able to maintain it... we are not there yet. Keep building!
It's a league next season not a group we need to finish in the top 24 (top 8 automatically through 9th to 24th the qualifying playoffs) surely we're better then 12 other teams. Plus we got a window to recruit to make us ready.
@dennisgoatimer1079 Ah, do you know what, I didn't even know that mate, thankyou for telling me.
After knowing that, I absolutely think we are good enough to be one of the best 8, 9, or 10, so yes, bring it on. Why not! 👍
You say not ready this season so when would you want it?
The champs league was amazing to be in this season but I always preferred to concentrate on the league more then the champs league as i knew we couldnt do well in both. Hopefully you get an easier group then we did😂.
@@taylor-mb6eg Thanks for that but it's going to be a league format not a group stage next season. That's out of 36
Deeney is right tho.
Watkins is not a striker at the highest level.
Villa missing key players and big injuries and still managed to chop and change and stay up there.
I think the euro conference has made them in better position than Newcastle as they have proved they can compete on both fronts
Built for the CL. We'll see next season
As a Spurs fan I totally agree. Villa will do pretty well in the Champions League and certainly alot better then my team Spurs.
Why can’t we both do well? I’m a Villa fan who now lives in Australia and watched Ange transform Brisbane and then Australia in footballing terms. Ange is a dead set winner and reputations mean nothing to him.

Villa are a developing side .. only 18 months into this The form has been solid ….
Critical that Villa get into the CL because if they don't, they'll likely lose Martinez, and possibly Watkins and Luiz.
I don't see that happening they can see the progress and under Unai Emery they couldn't ask for a better situation quite frankly but it's in our hands anyway

It is something we as fans could see happening as you said hard to stay in there
It’ll depend on the recruitment in the summer, if we can keep our players and what implications ffp might have - Villa are potentially on the cusp of doing something great and hopefully they make the right moves continuing this momentum
I don't think it would happen really. It depends on recruitment and injuries unlike Newcastle we've experienced European football before getting Champions League but the format is supposed to be different next season so it's uncharted territory for all teams involved which will make it interesting to see how each teams deal with that change.
