Neil Tyson must understand that the moment he cares more about not hurting his fans feelings over presenting scientific facts, he stops being a scientist and becomes an activist, and don't get me wrong, you can care about people's feelings but sooner or later you must choose between those two things and even if you go all the way to don't say things that would make people angry or trigger, the truth is nobody and I repeat NOBODY can make everyone happy, there is going to be always somebody who doesn't like what you say even if is a scientific fact and that includes "fans" (And let's be honest, if those so call fans get angry if he says the "wrong thing", they weren't fans in the first place).
And most importantly, in a free society, NO ONE is above criticism because that comes with our right of free speech.
Very true. It's gonna be funny in the future when it's exposed that Neil has never been a scientist and was faking it the whole time.
Bill says something like literally no comedians perform at college campuses. I think he means figuratively. And he is turning towards being the get off my lawn guy.
The funny thing about this convo is this is the perfect pairing of people to talk to each other. Just the right amount of charm and intellect to balance out the extremely pompousness and smug attitudes they both have😂
Not really lol. Neil is not charming or intellectual. Anyone who has paid any attention to him for the last decade can tell he is a dope.
One is a comic and one is a educator one teaches the other makes you laugh.
@@edwardwelch3317he’s more than a comedian, but let’s go with that. Bill is only a comedian and yet he still seems smarter when it comes to the state of the country and common sense than Tyson
Narcissists
lol this is like listening to my family talk at the holidays - a room full of overeducated overopinionated self absorbed interrupters 😂
I should come over for Thanksgiving
Neil is Toooo careful to get burned or cancelled 😂
Bill says he’s not the grumpy one, 30 seconds later, he’s going off on a grumpy old man’s tirade about the younger generation.
Does Bill not know he's grumpy?🤪
:p
I love how neil started drinking when bill brought up covid😂😭
It’s because he knows he failed so hard on that.
@@Henrydingus01123same as the rest of his woke ideas and corrupted science and politics. He will never admit he got scammed.
The problem with Neil trying to "navigate" the new culture is that he's unaware that he's trying to navigate through a trap. And the deeper he goes, without even knowing where he's navigating to, the more likely it is that he'll just get lost and never find his way back. Don't try navigating with a map that doesn't make sense or you'll just get lost with the rest of them. Which is exactly what's supposed to be happening, they're getting you to navigate right into a trap.
The bigger problem with him "navigating" is that he's avoiding the problems when he could be shining light on them. He's always been 100% focused on the other team's problems and not at all his own team's.
Yeah every time he says something that doesn't have to do with science it seems completely ignorant and not thought through @@danhalstead705
@@danhalstead705that’s where you’re wrong: there’s nothing to go back to. There’s only the future. You can fight it all you want and try to cling on but you’ll get swept with it, just like everyone else. Youth is always wrong, but also always right, because it just is.
@rdalge agreed. With you and Neil. Social mores and norms are going to change. Your options are to "navigate", as Neil said, and stay in the conversation and have SOME effect. Or disengage and have no effect.
The kicker: in the long run, and as far as the big picture goes - it doesn't matter. The only thing our choice will really affect is our own relationships.
@@rdalge That's bullshit. Swept by who? Loud kids with blue hair?
This is a phase, those kids are going to grow up and the new kids will be morphed with machines. This is just some crazy transitory phase that makes no sense and will pass, because people won't put up with it. Unless they're weak and spineless like Neil.
I'm a huge fan of both. I didn't know Maher was a nutter on the medical and alien stuff.
NDT is a weirdo nowadays. Somebody got something on that dude
Sometimes you wonder if a person loves hearing themselves talk. You don’t need to wonder with this dude.
Which dude? 😂
This interview got better and better, give thanks for a nice Sunday afternoon
Bill exposed Neil with relative ease.
NDT is to physics what Richard Simmons is to powerlifting
Was Richard Simmons a power lifter before he did the fruity work out vids
The world we live in is back-asswords. When Bill Maher talks more sense than an astrophysicist, you know we're in for a wild ride. But bless this conversation, it was fun!
Oh please...
compared to when we decided certain people were only 3/5 of a person? That's pretty wild, too, and yet here we still are 100s of years later
@@rje024 What the fuck does that even mean?
@@CazaDeYork it’s implying when black were worth 3/5 of a person. Now they aren’t now and slavery is still a thing that privileged America don’t care about because being a victim of atrocities you didn’t experience is in.
@@rje024what the fuck are you on about?
Bill is a bit self-absorbed and sometimes doesn't let the other person talk or finish, assume things and move the goal posts to try to score a goal. All Neil was saying about sports and trans is true, and he uses sports because it's the only area where trans really is a problem (just because sports have been segregated in two). He explains himself so clearly in the short clip with Ben Shapiro (because he had a chance to talk). That video of 6 minutes is the best take, the more ground to earth and truthful way of seeing the trans issue. There's a biological fact about our species being binary (and the exceptions are so rare that they don't matter in this issue, Bill Maher had no reason to talk about the exceptions, Neil was not talking about that). But there's also the fact that people express their identity on a spectrum, sexual or otherwise, because it manifest itself in reality (Neil's words). Now, if those facts need to be taught in a biology class or a sociology class, let's debate about that. But there's not debate to be had about those two facts. It's really only in sports that it's a big problem and the solution is not obvious nor easy. Toilets is more of a cultural thing.
I really don’t think Bill understood Niels point about sports and gender. Neil suggested pitting people according to weight, height, muscle to weight ration (*important factor), and skill without splitting by male female first. Of course in the tallest and biggest end will be a majority people born bio male and same with shortest and smallest will be a majority people born bio female.
Why this ration is mmm
*why this ratio important? Because Kevin Hart and Nicki Minaj are both 5’2” and weigh 140lbs. KH has a high muscle to weight ration (he buff, tho), NM is fit, looks strong but she a’int buff (she butt😯). While it’d make an entertaining boxing match, one in one hoops, whatever, KH would have an advantage. Running, maybe. Darts. 🤷♂️
The consensus can be wrong (as we've seen too many times) - science is never settled.
Not true... there is such a thing as settled science
@@FreddyFuFuhave any examples?

If it's "settled," then it's not science. That's called religion.

Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Maher great show.
The woke scientist
Disappointing that Bill's a "dish it out but can't take it" kind of guy. That was surprising. Neil showed to be the bigger man. Nevertheless, another fun interview. Keep up the good work Bill but maybe watch the right-wing punch you seem to be sipping more frequently these days, it's clouding your judgment.
I think Neil is the only guest I've seen fully capable of shutting down Bill's attempts to interrupt him unlike the rest of Bill's guests that just stop talking because Bill like most liberals gets louder and louder to get his "more important point across". Neil shut that shtt down!!!🤣🤣🤣
I like how in the first few minutes NDT is already acting like he doesn't have personal biases and everything he stands for is all based on science.
I love Bill but with all the stuff he smokes and takes he needs to add a chill pill into the mix. I'm all about someone being passionate but he gets so damn riled up 😵💫
It poisons the mood.
"The universe is under no obligation to make sense to you" perfect single-sentence dismantling of Bill's whole schtick
Is the universe under any obligation to make sense at all? I fail to see how a universe following rational and logical laws would be incomprehensible to a rational and logical mind.
Neil is an actor
Neil deGrasse Tyson is starting to become more like Michael Eric Dyson everyday. 😂
I have my issues with Neil, but c'mon, he's never gonna be like that sob.
@@razbigranicu You're right lol. That's a bit of an exaggeration. NDT is still > MED.
@@razbigranicuI don’t know man. He’s more or less just as arrogant as Mr. Dyson. Tyson is better at justifying his position but then THAT much better.

Bill is ridiculously sensitive about age jokes.
He was upset about wearing glasses, too!
Right but kids on college campuses are too sensitive 😂😂😂
Or he doesn’t want his argument to be dismissed based off a tired accusation with a certain ring of perceived senility
And Neil is ridiculously dismissive of any viewpoints that aren't his own.

Anyone that actually studied the human body for at least a measly associate degree can name off more than a few differences between male and female outside of hormones. One small example, the differences in pelvic bones is more than just "one can give birth and one can't.". Have fun learning
You don't need a degree. You don't need to study anything. You don't need to be on TV.
Just meet a man and a woman and there, you immediately know they're different...as in, one can clearly destroy the other in any competition.
The pelvis doesn't take that shape till puberty, it's hormonal.
@@lindaflesch7303 You're implying that everyone who competes doesn't go through puberty before transitioning... In which you would be wrong. Also, the benefits of difference in pelvic structure can decrease or increase mobility, strength, and flexibility.
Bill: “come on the show and get high”
Neil: “ok I’ll bring the helium”
