We took the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry over from Oban to Craignure. Plan ahead and watch out for ferry cancellations or delays. We got lucky we could go on foot and get back. Due to ferry cancellations, we could not take our car without risking not getting back to Oban that night.
This was an amazing day trip overall. We left from Glasgow in a rental car to drive to Oban. We returned to Glasgow that night and turned the car back in before 7pm.
Don't miss the door at the top of the stairs to out on the roof to get some great views.

I'm a MacLean as well, but doubt I'll ever be able to go as my husband canny fly. It has something to do with his ears. I suppose we could go by ship, but that would make for a long trip, and he doesn't want to be away for very long as we would have to board our pets. (sigh) Oh well, but hello cousin MacLean!
I just fount out from Ancestry DNA that I'm a direct descendent of the Macleans!

I too am a direct descendant of Clan Maclean. I went to Duart castle in 2000 (my family immigrated to the USA in the late 1800s) and my daughter and I also signed the Clan book. It was a wonderful experience and your video brought back many memories. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Hoping to visit here soon! My great grandfather Thomas MacLean immigrated to northern Canada 140 years ago. Bruce MacLean was my grandfather. We have always cherished our heritage in Scotland! Thamk you for the great walk through!

It is such an amazing place. I was lucky to visit Mull for 5 days in June 2017. So much fun exploring the island, the castle and the grounds.

@Deanna McLean I just fount out through the Ancestry DNA I'm a direct descendant of Ephraim. He is my 6th Great Grandfather.
We are Macleans. John and Charles Maclean went to British Guiana in 1800s. Would love to know any descendants that also went to Trinidad. My great-grandfather was Charles Allan Maclean.

Theres alot of descendants kicking about, I too am one, well my mum and her parents were McLeans. Linda (mum), Sam (her dad who is the mclean) and Mary (my grandma, his wife who married into the name)

Ephriam was my sixth great grandfather as well. I’ve been to Mull on multiple occasions and signed the family guest book and meet the clan chief Lachlan. I wonder if you are the child of Robert Taylor McLean?

Hello cousin MacLean! Very nice video (except I wish you would have panned slower on the dresses, lol). This also is my ancestral home! Oh how I would LOVE to go there, but my husband canny fly. (big sigh) so other people's videos will have to do. Scotland is such a Beautiful country, I wish we could move there! --We would go by ship. LOL
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. We really enjoyed the visit so much. It was overall a bit of logistics to get to country, to the island by ferry, to the castle before they closed and get back on the ferry. Still worth it, but not easy for visitors. We would love to go back knowing some of the logistics better now.

Thanks for the feedback. We can try to answer the questions here. We were so glad to get there. It was not without issue because of the ferry cancellations and times they ran. We had 45 min to tour because it was so late. They were so kind in at the castle.
