Great video! Caution regarding this type of product..products with growth factors. “The first and biggest concern is that if EGF is so good at stimulating cell proliferation, how does it relate to cancer? Is the definition of cancer not "cells proliferating out of control"? Most experts agree on this answer: EGF is mitogenic (= stimulates cell proliferation) but not mutagenic (= does not alter the cell to make it cancerous). If you do not have cancer, you will not get cancer from EGF. However, if you have cancerous cells, EGF will help them to spread, just like it helps healthy cells. So if you have a lot of moles, excessive UV exposure in the past, or if you have any of the skin cancer risk factors, we suggest you should think twice about using EGF products. The same is true if you have psoriasis, a skin disease related to the abnormal growth of epidermal skin cells. You do not want to add fuel to the fire with EGF.”
Hi, Mark! Quick question. I find myself not using this product often because I get concerned that the silicone content (based on what I feel) might inhibit absorption of the actives in the products I apply after it. I have nothing against silicones in general but thought they are somewhat occlusive. I’m sure you have much more knowledge on the topic so I thought I’d run this by you. I LOVE that you are reviewing Theramid products. It’s difficult to find a knowledgeable reviewer with solid info on them. Thanks! 😊
Ooooh I love this question! It does have a couple silicones in it, one that basically evaporates as you spread it to make it spread more evenly and smoothly, and another that sticks around to help moisturize, deliver the peptides into the skin, and yes, make a thin *but not impenetrable* layer of protection. In general, actives are designed to penetrate through even rowdier substances found in our skin than silicones, so I don’t worry too much about it. But if it bothers you, you can absolutely switch up the typical layering scheme of thinnest to thickest and put your actives on first and leave the siliconey serums for last! It might even help lock them in better. Another option (I’m trying this route myself for the sake of sanity when I’m neck deep in product testing) is to alternate actives. At the moment I’m alternating my exfoliating acid product and my peptide products every other night so I’m not layering a million products every night (and I’m less tempted to overuse strong products too!). If you want more info, my favorite down-to-earth cosmetic chemist, Michelle at Lab Muffin Beauty Science, did a great deep dive on this very topic a while back. labmuffin.com/silicone-mythbusting-with-video/ Hope that helps! 🖤🖤-MT
thanks for your review. I am excited to try this and wondered if azelaic acid is one of the conflicting acids. I would like to use this with azid before my led treatment bc it has antioxidants. thanks!
Ooo, very good question! I just did some light digging and it doesn’t seem to be a problem. Which tracks, because although it’s an “acid” it’s not the same kind of pH dependent exfoliating acid as a/bha’s. (I think it was @INCIdecoder that called AA “a distant cousin” to a/bha’s 🤓). If I dig up anything to the contrary I’ll post here but otherwise, you should be good! 🖤🖤-MT
Hey Mark, do you know what's the shelf life after opening? I couldn't find it on the website. Still deciding if I should get the XL or standard size. With that price tag it would be a shame if it went to waste.
Just checked my XL, back of the bottle says 12 months after opening. So you should be solid with the XL for the year depending on how much you use! 🖤🖤-MT
Yes! They should make for a lovely combo. Most well-formulated actives penetrate better when used with tretinoin, so as long as you keep tolerating tret without irritation, you’re going to have great skin for years to come. 🖤🖤-MT
On the website it says it shouldn't be used with retinoids or acids. I wouldn't use it in the same routine but on alternating days or copper in the morning (with a zinc free sun screen), tret in the evening.
I can ALWAYS trust your reviews!
I love this brand. No duds for me yet. Their new lip care is awesome too.
Same!!! I’m trying Transparent Lab PIH serum and overnight lip, loving both 🖤🖤 What else have you tried?

@@MarkThayerSkin the vit c+e+ferulic (forget what it’s called) the Lino 8, the ceramide, the derma peptides. Ok. I admit it. I’m a bit of a fanboy
It’s hard not to be!
@@MarkThayerSkinhi, does this have horrific metallic/chemical smell like geek and gorgeous does? Or even noticable?
@stx7389 I definitely don’t notice a metallic smell. 🤷🏻♂️

Ughhhh good call, I forget this one isn’t encapsulated like most other copper peptides. Still a fave of mine though!
Thanks for the correction 🖤🖤-MT
