#Predator #ArnoldSchwarzenegger - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Even though the sequels and lore weren't there yet, there's a reason the Predator blew itself up. In Yautja culture, it is considered extreme dishonor to return injured and beaten from their prey. The Predator would rather die than go home in shame. Also, it is extremely rare a predator ever spares their prey, so it probably took Dutch's mercy as an insult rather than compassion. He probably interpreted it as Dutch saying "You aren't worth killing" which is an even BIGGER middle finger to the Predator
I believe they also blow themselves up so humans don't discover them
It isn't a dishonour to return injured from a hunt. In lore, scars on a Yautja are a sign of respect and attraction. Wolf's face had acid burns, Ahab from the comics was missing an eye and mandible, Feral lost an arm and Scar still wanted to live despite being infected. It's more Jungle Hunter knew he was dying and like you also said, being spared is an insult. Plus his technology can't fall into human hands. They have spared their prey when the prey becomes a none threat. Look at Feral with Naru, his mind changed when she was caught in a bear trap. Basically, Jungle Hunter knew he had been beat and was mortally injured and he decided to go out on his own terms with no trace left behind rather than be spared.
it was clearly dying already. that's why dutch stopped. and probably it just was destroying itself to remove any technology from falling into the hands of its prey.
Honestly I always felt like the predator was just a sore loser, kind of like a “you may have won, but I still win” that’s why he laughs, I know that all the yautja lore came later, explaining their whole civilization, but my interpretation originally was that the predator is just kind of a dick
In the second movie the city hunter tried to activate his wrist computers nuke too it’s just his wrist gets cut by his own smart disk cutting the computer in half, plus the jungle hunter didn’t really kill himself because he was spared he had a piece of wood that probably weighed more than 400-600 pounds land right on his head and then crush his body he probably had major brain damage along with a few broken bones in his body too,he wasn’t getting up any time soon and in their culture it is dishonorable to leave a hunt half finished because they don’t want to leave witnesses but the biggest thing to them is they can never leave behind their gear and if they do it is an ultimate shame to their species and the clan they come from so the jungle hunter had to kill himself to one hold on to his honor and two to not risk humanity gaining weapons that would be to dangerous in humanity’s hands cause even though when they go on these hunts they take only a small amount of gear imagine how screwed a predator would be if say a human had a plasma caster without their Yautja honor codes dictating how and when they can use these weapons the fights would be extremely unfair in the sense humans would play super dirty
I'm still amazed how a movie from 1987 managed to be better then most modern movies
Yeah, The predator was… something
One of the 80s' top sci-fi movies with a peak-career Arnold too!
That's because this movie was made with heart instead of cheap jump scares, and CGI.
In 1987 you really had to be creative with movies instead of fluffing the movie with CGI to make up for the lack of script writing like you see these days.
Oh yea big time on my like 4th copy 😎
What makes this this scene so compelling to me is how Arnold is usually what comes to mind when thinking of somebody who is the peak of human strength but even then he is no physical match for the predator. And so it makes the scene more thrilling when Arnold has to rely on his mind and tactics to win
Arnie is a fab actor, and humble, notice that he usually plays a character that gets his ass kicked at one point or another, he may not have won any oscars for acting, but his fear of the Predator and the agony of getting beaten to a pulp is Very Convincing in this scene, that for someone who has never went to drama school or any shit like that, he is a natural born actor, and a lot of people don’t acknowledge this
Yep. That's the point. It's like getting into a fight with a gorila. You are outmatched from the beginning simply because he has pretty much more force than you. It's like feeling the sheer pressure from 100 kg dumbbell into your chest, comparable to 10 kg, or like getting trapped into a factory machine, a collapsing building or being runned down by a truck. Probably many victims of lions, crocs, bears etc felt that. The impotence facing something that is many times what your body can handle. That's fear.

Languages and cultures may vary, but insane megalomaniacal laughter is universal.
Underrated COmment!
Don't think so. With this laugh he warned Dutch. Remember : Yautja have a code of honor and don't leave traces of their haunt: technology and bodies of warriors
The laughter was a recording from one of Dutch's teammates earlier in the film.
He learned that laugh from Billy.
The Predator sarcastically laughing in the end is still one of the most chilling moments of the movie for me !
Finally, someone who have my same opinion!
You know it's mimicking Billy's laugh from earlier in the movie, right? I didn't know until years after knowing the movie.
Yeah, it’s Billy’s laugh…Makes it even more chilling
Not sarcastically. More mockingly
Seriously? I gotta go back and see that
Dutch: "Kill me, I'm here! Kill me!"
Predator: "...Hold up."
I love when the Predator looks at the booby trap. It’s like he’s saying; “Do you really think I’m that stupid?”
I think a predator died from that same trap before, and he recognized it.
Except Dutch had another trap prepared.
😂😂😂😂
Fun Fact : Storyboard Artists name Paul Power offer idea about setting up a trap because Director no idea to terminate The Predator and idea base on cartoon gag name "The Road Runner" after he watching while thinking about idea.
@@Ares99999 It's the same trap, just not used in the way he originally intended. Or maybe it was. But it looked like he was just improvising on the spot.
The vibes in this movie are unmatchable
unmatchable because trouble while filming Like
- producer Joel Silver are offer idea opening scene with Action sequence when Dutch and his squad are raid a guerrilla camp.
- director John McTiernan think about vibes should like King Kong movie and he can't resist when studio need more action in this film.
"The Predator was a warrior....he fought....he lost."

Boardwalk Empire!!!
The most iconic part is when predator respects him enough to remove his weapons systems and fight hand to hand combat.
Nah Arnold's primal scream is the most epic part imo.
To be fair, if we heard that laugh come out of a predator in a reboot/sequel today, we’d all mock it as ridiculous and say it “took us out of the movie” and “What the hell was the director thinking?” yadayada.
It’s part of their honor code. If they deem the prey worthy of a fair fight, the predator must remove his plasma caster to fight the prey on equal ground.
That's part of what makes the Predator so awesome. Show me the human that will use weapons to widdle down a pack of lions down to just the pride's leader then shed all his weapons to take on the lion mono y mono (1 to 1).
@@Gmk4667 I interpreted it differently. I had thought that a Predatory starts itself with clear advantages and gradually strips itself down so that each kill is just as satisfying and earned as the previous one. Each trophy is as valuable as the story behind it. Imagine two men sitting in a room with one bragging about lion fur he got from shooting a lion with a rifle while the other laughs and says he has the same thing, but he choked the lion with his bare hands as a lioness looked on in horror. Predator's want to be the one who earn the trophy with their bare fist.
The predator, looking at Dutch, tells him with an inner voice: "Let me look at you, you're the best of your kind." You've been bothering me so much, let me play with you before I deal with you once and for all, human being.

That final laugh is true scary part.. Damn badass movie
Also the fact that he's imitating Billy's laugh makes it extra creepy
Predator was destroying himself not only as a last attempt to kill his prey but also to blow up their technology so that the humans cant salvage their stuff
It was copying Billy's laugh
@@billyongus344 yep. But it's scary.
@DrHydra47 wrong, it didn't try to kill dutch there. I read somewhere that the predator was in fact relaying to dutch to run away. It cannot speak normally so it used the laugh to let him know to run.
Can Anyone imagine how dutch felt when predator sensed it was a trap and decided to come other way around?
The Yauja must be super smart to tell that stuff like if it’s a trap

It's hard to emphasize how jarring and scary it was to see mighty Arnold getting his ass handed to him when Predator first came out.
Years earlier he played a scary killer cyborg who was annihilating humans left and right, and here he is getting manhandled by a much more massive monster(both created by Stan Winston, no less)

To me it feels like the Predator is laughing at how he lost to a human being. He is laughing at himself and choosing to die in joy.

Originality and franchise starter....this IS the OG predator design and looks far more terrifying with the practical effects,
The music is so good
The actors were all perfectly cast.
They build that suspense and paranoia so smoothly from beginning to end...
They are real tough men that are terrified, and that is believable acting and or storyline...
This is the testosterone that is so lacking today to truly survive a primal situation....
Cheers!

Um let’s relax. We owe the greatness of this movie to many of the same people who brought us James Cameron’s, Aliens. From production design to make up effects by some of the greats, who created Aliens.
The greatest movie villain laugh of all-time. So badass
What really gets me about this part is that the alien never needed it’s weapons and technology. It’s bigger and stronger than most humans, even Schartzenegger in his prime. Truly terrifying.

It was a genius choice to tease the viewer with the expectation that the predator wasn't yet dealt with after being trapped and then revealing that it indeed was actually making death and just hopelessly convusing in its agony.
They pulled something of a Terminator tease on the audience by having Dutch be in a similar situation as Sara Conner and Kyle Reese were in
in the Terminator when the T-800 emerged out of the burning semi cab after seemingly being destroyed.

Predator was looking at that booby trap and was like “very impressive” and really had no idea it was a decoy. Badly wounded by the real trap, he respected Dutch for defeating him. And I clearly understand why the predator committed an honorable suicide: erasing and evidence of his existence so his technology won’t fall into the wrong hands of the humans or any other species they encounter.
Its wasn't a decoy. The Predator saw the trap but missed the counter weight suspended log which would drop when the trap was sprung
pulling up the vine that would both strangle and pull the Predator up into the embedded spikes. The log had to be heavier than the expected
weight of the prey (Predator) to generate the force to drag it into the trap.
When the Predator saw the trap it was so caught up in it's imminent "victory" that it didn't notice that in circling around to get at Dutch from
another drection, it had stepped under the suspended counter weight. It thought it had won and got careless .

Arnold fought probably one of the most experienced hunter predators ever compared to the native chick... and that predator fought with a grizzly...
That Predator clearly had no idea of human beings before and was learning on the hunt
That was the whole flaw of Prey. There is no suspense. No characters. No build up. The Predator or Yajuta in that movie was just some monster. Alien. Who knows. And the girl all of the sudden unlock kung fu and started going blow to blow with said monsters who apparently can one shot a bear. A monster mind you, shown no characters or interest in going easy on its target.
In this one, Arnold and his squad are prime veteran going from invincible gun blazing to running. Being hunted. Last stand and sacrificing. Fear.
