How I caught EVERY GEN 4 POKEMON using POKEBALLS ONLY!

In this series, I will be following Pokémon's slogan to "Catch 'Em All" but I will be taking it a step further, by catching every single Poékemon, including every gender difference or form change, while catching them in their original generations, and using POKÉBALLS ONLY!
This episode is Generation 4 and we need to catch every Pokémon from Turtwig to Arceus! There are 150 Pokémon total to catch so let's see how tough this is!

If you are trying to catch Arceus in Diamond via the void glitch, after doing the bike tweaking glitch and you are at the spot next to void that I am standing in in the video, here are the steps you need to take:

5 right
3 down
Open and close Pokédex to refresh graphics then move in any direction to go inside.
1 down
17 left
14 up
2015 left (once you hit mystery zone you can use your bike)
512 down
Save and soft reset your game.
32 right
384 down
32 left
1792 down (save your game at 1570 so you can rebattle Arceus in case you fail to catch it.)

1 up (Pal Park cutscene plays)

Go up until the countdown begins.

...to answer the question, I'm 53% done, due to not owning the Switch games. Aka I'm missing gen 2 and 7 for a Bank living dex! Hoping to get a switch before Bank shuts down. (No gender or forms so far, but my own rule is to catch Pokémon in their own games only. Which makes it so that I play every single generation.)

I actually was considering making a living dex for a while, but your first video inspired me to actually start! I’ve caught every single possible alpha Pokémon form, and now I’m going through the rest of the games catching every Pokémon in a Luxury ball. I’ve got about 700 Pokémon in home at this point!

Bunnies/rabbits are very hard to get to like you, hence the base 0 friendship for buneary.

I remember when I put together my first living dex and was so shocked by how many gender differences I didn’t know about. It is crazy how many just unnecessary and tiny differences they have. I mean even home thinks it’s strange considering a few Pokémon have to have back sprites just to show them off
Yeah it’s crazy! As I said in the video I didn’t even know about pachirisus gender difference until BDSP came out!
@@ThedomiNATION I think I used Johnstones list as my guide and I swear I was looking at Pachirisu for ages just trying to spot it, just like Torchic’s gender exclusive butt hole.
Hope you get it done before the Bank is close 😅 btw I’ve started my own living dex because of you. Thinking of getting as many of the ribbons so it would be neat to show off 😊
I’m sure I’ll finish this before bank closes as I think it’ll take maybe a year after the wifi connection for the 3ds goes down.
I really want to collect ribbons as well but I want to hunt shadow shiny heracross in colosseum to do it as heracross has yet to be cut from a mainline game so it can have every possible ribbon!

I just find it sad that some day soon we’ll never be able to trade Pokémon from the first 7 gens upward. I hope there will be some sort of work around (excluding hacks), though I doubt there will be.
Yeah I hope so to. But I think if there is a way, there will be some sort of fan made server you’ll have to connect to in order to keep bank working. Similar to how we can still get the gen 4 and 5 events thanks to fan servers
Lets gooo!!! I’m not sure if I mentioned this in your last video but I was doing a living form Dex challenge in my Pokémon home and had to redo generations 8-9 because this series inspired me to do it with Pokeballs only. I’m currently working on generation 4 and only have 5-7 left! Good luck on the series!

Unova can take some Time since its the region with the most introduced species.
It isn’t as large as Kanto once you factor in gender differences and regional variants, but the genies alone are gonna take a while!
You can still do the void glitch to get Arceus even after going to Pal Park before doing it, I have done it
I knew you could but every time I have tried it in the past I haven’t gotten it to work. I’m sure I just missed a step but instead of play testing it again for this video, I decided to just not include that info 🤷♂️
Buneary in dp only you can use the friendship underflow to do this evolution quickly. But since is glitchless
I have never heard of that! And it’s not like I’m doing this glitchless as I used the void glitch to get arceus I just try to do it as legit as possible!
man, this is so cool, but does it not bother you that if you evolve your pokemon in Legends:Arceus. their ball switches to the special ball and no longer is a pokeball?
Pokeball data is saved starting in gen 3. Sending Pokémon into legends will make them display in a strange ball, but this is only for legends, any other game these Pokémon go in including home, they are displayed as being caught in a pokeball (unless you display their legends arceus data in home)
You actually inspired me to do this back with the Gen 2 vid. Gen 4 caused me pain. I tried to get the Munchlax tree for ~a month - like a moron - before giving up. Also had no clue breeding didn't transfer ball data... damn.
Here's a """""fun""""" Gen 4 fact: Chatot actually has a worse catch rate than Dialga and Palkia. The gods of time and space are easier to catch than a parrot.
I love these videos! They are so well done and loaded with content. I’m doing a very similar challenge, but you’re moving much faster than me! I finally finished Red/Blue. What has been the hardest/most time consuming Gen for you so far?
Thank you! The hardest generation so far was probably gen 2, with the really poor catch rates, plus the awful mechanics for the roamers, but the most time consuming one was probably gen 3 because I had to play through emerald 4 times in order to catch each form of deoxys!

One comment I have is in regards to your voiceover. It seems like your microphone is clipping. If it has a separate volume knob you should probably turn it down and boost the audio when editing.
I only have a pattern dial and a gain dial. The gain is set to the lowest it can be and the pattern dial is set to whatever I need for the situation. For videos like this, I have it set to the setting where it only picks up audio from directly in front. Other than that there’s a headphone volume dial which only affects how well I can hear myself with headphones on but that’s really only for calls and gaming
So with the ones sent into PLA I saw that they were now in strange balls… will they change back???
They will change back when sent into home or another game! Same goes for Pokémon that originate from legends arceus. They will be in strange balls in other games but once sent back to legends they’ll revert to the hisui pokeballs!
i thought i was the only one obsessed about catching them every single one of em in normal basic ass pokeballs.. ever since XY i've been doing my dexes with only Male pokemon in normal pokeballs
Will Pokemon transporter still be active after the shutdown or just Pokemon Bank? Just want to be sure. I'm working to get ribbons for my Gen 3 Shinies and it would really suck having to rush things out.
As stated in the video, bank and transporter will not be shutting down when the 3DS online services get discontinued. There is no set date when they will go offline but it’s safe to assume they will both go down together as transporter won’t have a use without bank

I had to play through black and white 2 times each but I just finished it and plan to go for the rest of the living Dex soon! (I think gen 1 will forever be the longest as it has by far the most Pokémon when you include forms and gender differences)

To be honest you didn’t manage to catch every gen 4 for your living dex.
You need to get 2 forms (original and origin) of palkia, dialga and giratina. As well 18 arceus just because the type plates.

But for a full living dex he needed to catch 2 palkia, 2 dialga, 2 giratina and at least catching 18 arceus.
You can get the items thats turn them into the origin forms of palkia and dialga in SV. Giratina is a joke because you can get both normal and origin forms in gen 4. Arceus is hard because it’s too long and very difficult especially because the event never officially released in gen 4. Doing the void glitch 18 times and after that’s trying to catch it with pokeballs it’s really a huge burn out.
@@BensyBens yeah but when you move them into home they lose those forms. Arceus loses its items, therefore losing its typing, and Palkia, Dialga and Giratina also revert to their base form when moved so there’s no point. If he did that he’d just have over half a box of regular Arceus and 2x of the other legendaries with no difference

Your problem is that thus Arceus will never be legal
Umm but it is? If it can pass through Bank with no issues, to the games standards, it’s completely legal
@@ThedomiNATION the problem is that you can not catch a Arceus normally in-game in the gen 4 games since the azure flut was never released so the only way to have an Arceus is having it with the event id ot and all that stuff so even it would go through bank it still can make you problems later just want to make sure you don't lose your progress because of that
@@LieYT I’ve had the same kind of arceus in my home for years, just caught in a dusk ball instead of a pokeball. If it can pass through bank to begin with, that means that the game sees it as a legal arceus. It’s for sure an oversight but the game sees it as an official event arceus from sinnoh (like say the toys r us arceus)
@@ThedomiNATION yes I know Nintendos cheat checks are not that good but they don't check always and I did send pokemon through bank that the game doesn't see as legal so I don't really see that as a point like I did say I don't have a problem with it as long as you don't lose your progress and your happy with that way it's fine for me just wanted to say that so you be careful before it happens

@@LieYT I appreciate your concern but I don’t think I have anything to worry about. I don’t plan on doing say shiny lock removals or anything to obtain Pokémon that are impossible to have. And I do believe if the Pokémon company wanted to flag specifically that arceus then they would’ve done it by now. And even if something happens and they do remove the arceus, I can always just use the toys r us event one for my living Dex instead. It would be disappointing, but it would be the next best thing to use
Confirmed SV is the hardest to shunt in? What are you smoking lol the odds are like 1/100 fully set up. Those games ARE the worst to play though
I was making fun of a comment that someone left on one of my videos saying they thought that scarlet and violet were by far the hardest games to shiny hunt in lol. Me personally I think they’re so easy that finding shinies isn’t even exciting in those games

I am doing a Gen 1-7 living dex, not going to move them freely to the ransomware software Pokémon HOME to trap them behind a paywall and not access them anymore, lol. But there is one thing where I am a bit more extreme than you (and many other where I am way more lax than you): I catch the Pokémon where they appear the FIRST time in the game and then with the lowest level.^^

Excited for gen5! I do have a question about shaymin, mine does not want to transfer into bank, is there something I need to do with it similarly to Arceus? I caught it in platinum using the DNS exploit so I’m unsure why it won’t go through
Hmmm. Did you specifically get the shaymin from the flower paradise using oaks letter in platinum and not Diamond and Pearl? If so there shouldn’t be any issues, as those events have been released officially in the past

You can send darkrai from Diamond if you first level it up to 50 and have it forget the move pursuit before sending it into gen 5. Shaymin however has to be from platinum

For the honey trees in Gen 4 you can manipulate the genders with any pokemon with the cute charm ability
That’s true but it’s not too hard to soft reset a few times. Also I wouldn’t want to mention cute charm in gen 4 in case people wanted to shiny hunt them and since the cute charm glitch is a thing, it can result in extremely hard shinies to find

Man I discovered this series not too long ago and let me tell you, I'm a fan! I wanted to do the same thing for a long time, and with bank being put in life support that drove me to finally start doing it. I really like the spreadsheet you put up! Some suggestions - maybe add in what box number each one would fall? Another thing I've seen that I think it's useful is to leave a box between gens so whenver they add a new form for an older pokemon you don't have to re-sort everything in home, just that gen. This spreadsheet is _almost_ what I wanted, but I actually want to include newer evos next to older mons (of course, those would still be catched on the game they released). Something like having Porygon2 next to porygon, even if they are from different gens. IOW, sorting by evolution line.
If you download the spreadsheet you can make those changes to it for yourself! I might do the box number thing too but lots of people organize their home differently! So lots of people might not have the regular living Dex first! Also so many people organize their living Dex regular-shiny-regular-shiny so the box numbers would vary for everyone!
When it comes to reorganizing the living Dex whenever a new form comes out for an older Pokémon, it really only takes like 20 minutes max to reorganize everything. So it’s not a big deal to not leave spaces between generations. It would also change the box numbers each Pokémon would fall into as well.
I understand the spreadsheet might not be absolutely perfect for everyone, but part of the reason it’s downloadable is that you can edit it to your liking! My idea was to organize it the way I like to that was easiest to understand (because I’ve seen some confusing ones out there lol)

Last week I caught hall of origins arceus in platinum using the dns trick but I can't transfer it to bank. Was there an update for pokemon bank recently?
Nope! The event was never released for platinum so all arceus should be illegal. As I stated in the video, the only one that can transfer up is the mystery zone arceus caught exclusively in Diamond if you level it up to 100 and have it only know the move judgement and that it’s most definitely just some strange over sight that this specific one can be sent into home

Yep but like other Pokémon like giratina and cherrim, you can’t physically have them into home as they are only temporary forms that change either only in battle or based on a held item! So we don’t need them for home!

Even though you use the items on them to change their forms in legends arceus the same way you can with the therian genies, their forms get reverted when placed into home! So you don’t need multiple dialga or palkia for home… At least until they decide they want to treat them like shaymin but who knows if they’ll ever do that

Anyone have any suggestions on where to find a non-password wifi? I’ve seen the suggestion of a phone hotspot but mine always needs a password.
I have a few old tutorials on my channel about it. If you have an iPhone and an Apple computer, there’s a way to share the hotspot from your phone to disable the password requirement

Doesn’t the DNS exploit with the event mons having the wrong date screw up your HOME? I did this with a gen5 game and kept having problems with my home until I released them again
It shouldn’t because if you get the event items officially when they were released, you don’t necessarily have to catch the Pokémon right away. Even in BDSP I got the members card and oaks letter when the events were live and still haven’t went and caught darkrai and shaymin yet because I want to shiny hunt them some day
I've been doing the same thing except with net balls. Everything with gender difference shiny and non-shiny as well as a competitive version for every fully evolved mon.

In my legends game I try to get every Pokémon as an alpha! But for this series, it’ll be original games only. So when I get to gen 6 and need the hisuian goodra line, I’ll catch the goomy in x and Y

I wanted to do this challenge myself but I didn’t get some of the E shop games in time. I got H shop on my DS but the games are still saying that they’re not updated and are not compatible with poketransporter and bank. Anyone possibly know how to help?
you have to install the updates as well hshop should have them too just have to download them separately

If you don’t mind me asking, for the DNS exploit, did you have to connect to Wi-Fi? If so, did you have to use an older router?
You do have to connect to wifi and you do not need an older router. I have a few old tutorials on my channel, there’s a bunch of different methods to get gen 4 to work based on what devices you have

You can catch it in legends arceus, but I personally am going for original generations only for my living Dex!
If only they made the transfer process offline like they did from gen 3 to gen 5

Might have missed something, why did you have to get rid of all of Arceus' moves except Judgement?
As I said in the video, it’s just a random oversight that allows it to pass into bank without getting flagged as illegal. Also that’s why I had to catch it in specifically Diamond version

@zt2ean think it can be put down more to not being an official release. Theres a couple checks with Darkrai and Shaymin. Thankfully, Arceus is actually able to pass the checks in the first place.
Can you tell me if im doing this right? I got the event items in platinum for both darkrai and shaymin now. How can i 100% ensire their transfers? Do i have to delete moves for either? And whats the move dark rai needs to know?

If you catch them in platinum with the event items, you don’t need to do anything before sending them up! The events were released in platinum in the past so they will transfer no matter what!

@@kennymarotta9924 you can’t send items from gen 4 to gen 5 so giving arceus a Pokémon an item before sending won’t do anything. It’ll just put the item back in your gen 4 bag. For the void glitch arceus all you need to do is level it up to 100 and teach it judgement and have it forget all its other moves besides judgement! This must be done in a Gen 4 game before sending into gen 5

@@kennymarotta9924 if there was a white flute event then yes. I have never heard of a white flute event so I wouldn’t know if you can get it. If you have platinum or HGSS though you can get a white flute on those save files. I don’t know the location by heart so you would have to look it up. The other way would be to get the white flute on RSE and have a Pokémon hold it before sending them into a Gen 4 game which is what I did
If I get Arceus in Pearl using the Azure flute do I need to trade it to diamond to send it up or maybe send it to HeartGold or SoulSilver then transfer it up. Would that work or would it just be stuck?
Azure flute arceus will never send up due to the event never being released. It doesn’t matter what game it’s caught in. In order to get arceus from gen 4 you have to do the ways I showed in the video
I spent months shiny hunting it just to find out I can't even transfer it up.... I'm pissed 😡 at least I can get shaymin and shiny Darkrai to transfer up. Do they need to be caught in just diamond to do it or can I use the other games too?
@@willieharrison1359 darkrai and shaymin can be caught normally in platinum using the event items but they cannot be caught in Diamond and Pearl. Except darkrai has a similar quirk to arceus where if you get darkrai from new moon island in Diamond only, level it up to 50 and make it forget the move pursuit, it’ll send up. There’s no known way to do shaymin and both are just easier to do in platinum anyway
Last question I'm planning on shiny hunting the Sinjoh Pokemon will I have any trouble transferring them to home or any other Pokemon up?

I seem to be having issues with getting the Google Drive link working for the pokedex checklist. Seems to be too large and won't open the .xlsx format for me. Anything I can do for that?
It should be too large to view. As I said in the video, you need to download it first then reupload it to your own Google drive to use it

@@morghini89 are you trying from a computer or another device? I know phones can be weird which is why I said in the video to download it from a computer. There should be a big blue download button right underneath where it says “couldn’t preview file. This file is too large to preview” it’s kinda hard to miss.
@@ThedomiNATION I'm trying from a computer, and I've pressed that. I get the file, I reupload it onto my Drive and I got the "couldn't preview file" stuff.
@@morghini89 hmmm. I’ll have to see if there’s something I can fix about it. It’s weird Becuase I had people test it earlier and they said it worked fine. Maybe I’ll have to do something to compress the file or use a different file type so it works better with drive
