    I just used your video as a guide to clean the intake valves on my Hyundai Elantra GT. I used the CRC cleaner, let it sit for one hour, then drove it on the highway. I have noticed that I have smoother acceleration, an increase in power, and the idle speed is slightly higher. Since I now know how to do it I will be cleaning my valves regularly. Thanks for making this video.

      I just did my 2019 Si with 30,000 miles on it and noticed a slight improvement. Nothing drastic. And I've had a catch can in the car since 15,000. If this is done from the beginning of the vehicles life and done regularly it will definitely help. If you wait until high mileage then you'll definitely need a professional cleaning. Then after that the CRC can help maintain it.

    CRC say after doing this treatment it keeps improving over the next 8 days or so of consecutive driving. So it would be interesting to see another borescope view after a week or so of regular driving. But it was a definite improvement, I could see bare valve metal in the second shots after the treatment, although it's a really bad case and may need a few treatments to really see a good improvement. If a car gets that bad it might be worth doing a full removal and walnut blast to get it to a state where it can be maintained by regular CRC treatments. I have a new GDI car, and I'm planning to do a CRC GDI treatment one week before each annual oil change interval. Hopefully that'll prevent it getting to that state.

  • @fireblade274

    used it in my gen coupe 3.8, i got it at 71k miles and doubted there was ever an intake valve clean done beforehand. at 80k miles i did 1 can, followed instructions carefully. For the 10 min highway driving, i filled up from empty premium gas from Shell and mixed with a full fuel system cleaner additive whos name escapes me atm. after ~3 days i could definitely, albeit subtly, notice it was quicker to come to power, and felt less sluggish if you will.
    I bought this product somewhat skeptically after watching this video. I dont know what my intakes look like, but ive always ran sams club premium every fill up in the car, so they probably haven't been as bad as the engine in the video.
    If your intake heads look like this guys, this product wont do it in 5 or maybe any # of cans. I had a good experience (for only ~12$) and i recommend it in a heartbeat.

    I can tell you that having CC'd my RS4, this stuff works when you actually remove the intake manifold and let it sit in the chamber with the valves seated closed. It actually melts the carbon which can them be scrapped , wire brushed and vacuum sucked out of the chamber and off the valve surfaces much easier. I've never tried spraying into the throttle body as it obviously failed to do anything as seen in this video.

    • @WASTED__POTENTIAL
      @WASTED__POTENTIAL ปีที่แล้ว

      @@babagandu R36 should be pretty simple. You'll want to order a set of manifold gaskets first, though.
      1. remove the intake manifold.
      2. check to see which cylinders have the valves closed.
      3. Spray a small amount of cleaner into the ports with the closed valves, and ONLY the ones with closed valves. I'd say about a 5 second burst per valve should give them a good enough coating to start.
      4. Use several long zip-ties to get in and physically agitate the gunk.
      5. Spray some more to get a good soup that you can remove with rags/towels.
      6. Repeat steps 3-5 until the valves are clean.
      7. Rotate the engine until the valves are closed on the remaining cylinders.
      8. Repeat steps 3-6 on those cylinders.
      9. Replace gaskets and install manifold.
      10. Drive a few miles.
      11. Change engine oil.

    When it's this bad the only thing that works is to manually scrub the valves and/or use a walnut blaster. Once you get it back to relatively carbon free, something like CRC can be used at or near the oil change interval to greatly slow the buildup. That being said, direct injection engines will ALWAYS create carbon deposits. BTW, this video could have been 4 minutes long and been just as informative. We really didn't need to see you spray the entire contents of the can.

      Find the air filter then remove air filter. If you have a mass air flow sensor insert the straw on the fuel cleaner can past the sensor so when you spray it doesnt hit the sensor also you may need to close the air filter box as much as possible leaving only room for the cleaner straw or the car will idle poorly while performing test however you may be able to raise rpm to 2500 before you open air box with mass air flow sensor and be able to leave box open until you finish otherwise close as much as possible and perform all task at your own risk im not responsible i have to say for legal purposes

    • @robertmaybeth3434
      @robertmaybeth3434 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure I don't see why, if you can physically access the valves, why shouldn't you manually scrape off as much gunk as you can? The whole danger here is, while trying to clean gunk off your valves, its possible to create damage that is even worse than what you are trying to fix.
      Worst case scenario is that this valve cleaning dislodges something, something sticky, that lodes between a valve and its valve seat. Thus preventing the valve from seating properly by closing all the way. IF this happens, that valve can burn up in a matter of a few hundred miles, because the valves depend on that momentary contact between the valves and their seats that is essentially a heat sink for the valves, especially the exhaust valve. And since that is what soaks up some of the heat: if the valve can't seat properly, you will be doing a valve job shortly.

    When you do these cleanings you want to romp on the throttle while doing it. Not staying at a constant rpm because it could leave and produce it's own carbon. It's best to romp on it a bunch to brake it loose and to force the cleaner places it's not getting at low rpm believe me it blows stuff out the tail pipe

      This dude seems to completely be oblivious to the fact that on turbo gdi motors (ford ecoboost) etc, you are straight up gambling with these cleaners. If you happen to knock one tiny piece of carbon loose and it finds its way to youre impeller on the turbo, it will absolutely f#&@ the turbo up. Do youre own research, and i know this guy means well but just bc he has a borescope fetish doesnt mean you should blindly follow his little expirements. Knowledge is power. Ask an ASE certified mechanic questions before you 💥 up youre beloved vehicles motor or power adder. Turbos are 1 to 3k.. That 6$ can may be a bad idea. Have the fricken heads taken off the vehicle and cleaned professionally by someone who knows how to walnut blast. Spend 600$ instead of 6$ and save thousands

    • @NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO
      @NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      600 to take off heads and walnut blast great deal but if they need take off head to walnut blast your being taken advantage of and you produce carbon and it will exist exhaust regardless but the best way is just dont allow carbon to build up
