"at first glance it seems an easy style to get into" I'm sure that's the case for you, but ice in trackmania makes me rage more than anything in any game ever. I literally can't understand anything, not even the basic fundamentals like how to steer in the bobsleigh. It seems to come so naturally to everyone else that they don't bother to explain WHAT TO ACTUALLY DO WITH YOUR CONTROLLER. If you watch a grass tutorial, they tell you what button to push when and why that button should be pressed there. None of the bobsleigh tutorials do this. They just tell you "go here, then line up here, then go this way". What freaking buttons do I push to line myself up? What do I do when my angle is bad, which seems to be forced in every single bobsleigh map ever? I don't need to know what to do once I'm in this fantasy world of having a nice line where it's all about the intricacies of how hard to turn to maximize speed. I'm freaking spinning out in circles and flying off the walls. Why are all bobsleigh tutorials geared towards people who already know how to drive on a curved ice surface?
this honestly. ive found the most reliable strategy is to just get a good setup into the first turn and then not steer at all (or at least very little) for the rest of the map and pray. i got silver on map 14 of fall 2023 doing this. if i steer at all (more than .000001%) it spins out
Why does this video just skip over the actual basics? All I want is to go through a turn without having my back wheels fly up the wall, I don't care about action keys or optimizing lines
I think that the most common mistake is the instinctive habit to adjust direction turning both left and right while you want to avoid to turn in the direction opposite to the turn.
@@mr.thammisses6119 controllers is less dependent on actionkeys, since actionkeys reduce stering input, keyboard is either 0% or 100% since its just a button, controller u have the analog stick where the more you move it the more it steer. But else u can bind a button on the controller as a action key in the settings menu. You basicly just need gas, brake, steering and respawn for tm so unless you play on a nes controller there should be a button or 5 you dont use that much :D

if u play keyboard its just pressing number 2 above the letters, numpad numbers is for the different camera settings.
