Great list! I would definitely include HAG1 in a top ten list as well. The way the fight continues to gradually escalate is awesome, plus the name drop of Winkybunion is epic.
Awesome video! Thank you for giving some love to King cutout, a lot of people just dump on him for no reason. Number one I’m in complete agreement with you.
Okay, here goes: #6. Weldar - This was a genuinely challenging fight in a game with admittedly easy bosses. Mr. Patch was a close 2nd from Banjo-Tooie, but Weldar's funny dialogue and many ways to keep the fight interesting just barely edges out the Strange Wobbly Inflatable Thing. #5. Dogadon Rematch - Playing as the slower Chunky makes the initial fight more challenging. And then you get to beat the shit out of him as the platform sinks and the music gets faster. #4. Grunty from BK - Undeniably epic. Even for a silly game like Banjo-Kazooie, it climaxes into something really special. #3. King Krusha K. Rool - like you said, using all of the Kongs in the fight adds a sense of teamwork that was otherwise missing from the game. Plus I'm a sucker for marathon fights such as this and K. Rool's fight from DKC2. #2. Wizpig - I owe my Dad 40$ because I broke the controller racing him. Beating Wizpig at 7 years old was the most rewarding feeling. I didn't realize until I was older that Krunch was the worst character in the game. #1. Mad Jack - Made me shit my pants as a kid, and every time I fight him it just gets better & better. The DK64 Randomizer adds some nice twists to the fight, especially when fighting him with other Kongs. But even vanilla DK64 perfected the fight. The music is fantastic, and fighting him without PTT is especially rewarding.
Great video bro. Love to see your top 10 bosses you appreciated from the Rare games. Look forward to the next video. Also commented on your comment about my top 10, tell me what you think.
Wonderful video! I'd love Conker and Banjo to return! I even have a Banjo Plush on my podcast background setup! RARE carried the N64 generation for me big time!
For some strange reason, Great Mighty Poo is actually one Opera Singer, that does not make you want to SNOOZE OFF. But I will say that RareWare Games were DEFINITELY some of the best games to play on Nintendo 64, and also Super Nintendo, Mainly the Donkey Kong Country Games, which I find to be Most NOSTALGIC to me Personally.
Definitely unexpected as the #1. Usually most people place Gruntilda as the #1. Surprised there wasn't any mention of her fight from Tooie, I thought that fight was good as well. Re: Mad Jack - I honestly think he is one of the better bosses in DK64, although my favorite was always K. Rool himself. Mad Jack's intro is intimidating and the build-up was great. As for difficulty, the entire thing can be cheesed. Just jump off the platform as soon as the fight starts and the lift brings you back up. After that just stay on the lift until Mad Jack is done jumping and after that go to the switch he is standing on. It was the easy way I used to cheese him way back in the day especially in the later phases. My personal top 10 list would be as follows (majority of my picks are from DK64 since that game is my childhood): 1. Gruntilda (Banjo Kazooie - Nothing needs to be said. This fight is way too iconic.) 2. King K. Rool (DK64 - This fight is so satisfying and fun. If the entirety of DK64's boss fights were able to utilize the Kong's abilities like they did in this one it would've made DK64 all that better.) 3. Wizpig 1 & 2 (DKR - these races were so intense and really gave you the immense satisfaction when you finally beat him. The feeling of "this is it, this is what I've worked so hard and grown for. Time to save my island and take it all back!" was really well-executed and his difficulty really stood out amongst the other bosses. It was so satisfying finally beating him after several losses as a kid and that sense of accomplishment the first time I ever did it was one of the most fond memories I had from DKR). 4. Great Mighty Poo (Conker - That song is perfection baritone opera singing even if the fight itself is pretty bland all things considered.) 5. Mr. Patch (Tooie - I love this fight same reason you do. It's so much fun, music is great and he is definitely the best fight in Tooie.) 6. Mad Jack (DK64 - The build-up to fighting him was one of the most impactful and intimidating sequences in the game with how well DK64 does atmospheric tension. The fight itself is epic even though you can cheese it easy.) 7. Gruntilda (Tooie - I honestly quite enjoyed Tooie's final boss even though it was nowhere near as good as Kazooie's.) 8. King Kut Out (DK64 - the silliness of the voice always made me laugh as a kid even as difficult as the fight was back in the say) 9. Army Dillo 2 (DK64 - probably has one of my favorite boss battle themes in DK64 and his second battle was more intense than the first) 10. Dogadon 1 & 2 (DK64 - I like the first fight better just on the basis that there is no timed segment, but the second grew on me overtime. I always remember getting frustrated every time I'd lose the second phase and have to restart the whole fight over again, but it does give an epic feel to the fight.) Interesting list all the same. I definitely would have placed K. Rool and Wizpig higher though. Looking forward to your stream later! :)
Hag 1 just isn’t as strong as the original Grunty fight to me. And I agree most people would put that as number 1 which is partly why I didn’t! But also Great Mighty Poo is iconic.
@jiggylookback RE: Hag 1 - For sure it isn't as good as Kazooie Gruntilda, but ti is still a fun fight and I quite enjoyed it. Re: GMP - Oh it's iconic for sure. Although the only reason I didn't place him higher is because the only reason he is so good is because of the song/music. Otherwise gameplay for the fight really isn't that special and he really doesn't have much of a moveset as a boss. So while I love the song and music, I still found the fight itself to be pretty bland. It's still great don't get me wrong, it's just that compared to a lot of Rare's other bosses I don't think he's as strong of a fight in getting the same reaction as my other picks.
@I look at these in two ways: Gameplay and character design. Gameplay GMP is probably a 7/10. It works. But design is like a 20/10. @@jiggylookback Fair for sure. Like I said, he is definitely iconic, I just don't feel he's as good of a boss fight itself as other bosses. I still love the fight though and will always love the song either way.
I honestly never thought the cutout was supposed to be just a gag fight. I took in the haunted atmosphere of Creepy Castle and assumed it was possessed by a ghost.
Well...we see it assembled with the Kritters...but you're right...we never see them moving it or anything. Maybe it is possessed! I feel I should find out.
Definitely saw number one (more accurately number two) coming lol. The only one I have to disagree with only for personal reasons is Mingy Jongo. Good video! I never made it far in Jet Force Gemini, but Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Tooie and Conker all had such memorable fights! I was always curious what Rare would throw my way next! Mad Jack freaked me out as a kid the first time I encountered him and I remember having a lot of difficulty figuring out what to do to damage him. It seemed like a big difficulty spike at the time! And the way The Great Mighty Poo's music tempo kept increasing with each phase got my blood pumping! Rare just had a magic when it came to game soundtracks! I absolutely loved Mr. Patch as well, but I'll also give a shout to Weldar and the Hag 1 for putting up quite a fight when I was a kid! Lord Woo Fak Fak also kind of terrified me the first time I fought him. At the time, I didn't even know you could fight him as a submarine which made the fight worlds easier! Conker was a joy! I remember my dad (who didn't even like video games) would watch me play the game and we would just be laughing the whole time! Besides Poppet and Reagan, I also liked Buga the Knut, Heinrich, and the boiler boss, too! Conker was just one of those special games that you just wanted to know what was coming up next!
I like the way you used the borders in this video after people voting in if your videos should be in 4:3 or stretched widescreen (unless games support widescreen) 2:38 especially has a good border. Also I would’ve added Army Dillo’s second fight in DK64 to the list.
The Tiny Kong jack in the box boss fight was the most difficult boss fight ever for me as a kid for some reason I remember my Dad and I trying forever to beat him
I love your list I was expecting more bosses from Banjo-Tooie since they have more bosses than the other games and I understand why you chose the Great Mighty Poo for number one because you were choosing based on memorability and he's the only rare character that sings and is definitely such an absurd thing that only a demented English comedian can come up with it's awesome the only thing crazier than English people is Australian people I can't get enough of their movies and shows it's one of a kind Although if you were choosing based on challenge grunty would be number one (I think I never finished Jet Force Gemini)
Awesome list! Great points on each, Agree so much ^^ Presentation with Rare's charm and really testing players' skills ❤ I LOVE King Kut Out! Glad to see he got your best pick from the game. Yup, can't beat the Great Mighty Poo 😅

Headcanons for some bosses. I think Lurg is an insect queen. Which makes sense since the spawnship or one of many is at that military base. So lurg is one queen out of god knows how many. Lord woo fak fak is anglerfish, and only female anglerfish look like that, so since Woo fak fak uses male pronouns, does that make him trans. I commented this on another one of your videos. Mad Jack from DK 64. A giant Jack-in-the-Box resembling a demented cyborg crocodile with a Donald Duck on meth like voice and part of its paint job chipped off, revealing a glowing red eye. What'll really get to you is his introduction: he drops out of the reject chute. Think about it. King K. Rool's Frantic Factory puts out dangerous toys unsuitable for all ages. When health and safety are of no concern, it takes a very special effed upped toy to end up in the goddamn reject chute.
I think everybody has a different list. I disliked mr patch. He never seems to hit you and it was sometimes hard to find the last missing patch to conclude. Character wise he was fine, but the battle was terrible

@jiggylookback it was made by Rare on the N64, though, so technically, he counts.
@@michaelmulligan-nufer186 no it wasn’t. You’re wrong.
Rare made starfox adventures on GameCube. They had no involvement on N64.
For England James?
Definitely almost made the list.
Can't quibble with number one. He could very well be the best boss on the Nintendo 64!
Exactly my thought! Pretty freaking iconic.
Here’s my top 10 bosses in Rare.
1. Weldar
2. Great Mighty Poo
3. Mr. Patch
4. Armydillo
5. Mad Jack
6. The Big Guy Boiler
7. Hag 1
8. King K. Rool
9. Gruntilda Winkybunion
10. Haybot
Good ones! Heybot and Weldar were up there for me too.
Boss fights of this quality are quite possibly...rare in games.
[I'll see myself out]
6:24 Rated 'E' for Everyone.
The concept of King Kut Out is brilliant yet out of place when it comes of the theme of Creepy Castle. Love it nonetheless!
I personally wasn't expected the 1st place... yet it was pretty obvious if you think. 😂
What a nice video. Truly enjoyed it!
Glad you liked it! :) yeah number 1 is just too iconic to me. I had to.
Wish CBFD would come to the n64 switch
Jiggylookback!!!!
I think Targitzan from Banjo Tooie deserves more mention. Very much a top 10 contender
Creative boss, cool design, I wasn’t a huge fan of the actual fight tho. It’s not bad just not my favorite.
But it is a good boss.
Cleary Pufftoss is better than every single one of these bosses combined.
Lol he’s not even close for me 🤣 but hey if you like em more power to ya!
Hype!
Nah man. Grunty is #1 you can’t beat that. Not just the best Rare fight, it’s one of the best ever.
@@gangstertalk idk it’s not a giant poo that sings opera lol but the fight is really good
Grunty 1 pop 2 otherwise good list. I like the atmosphere of cut out but wouldn’t have made my top 10. Otherwise agree with the list fully.
Members first?! 😱
@@UhOhItsKT yep! It is supposed to be part of the perks so I’m just following up on that! Otherwise it’s out publicly tomorrow night!
Grunty > Mr. Patch > K Rool > Mad Jack > Kut Out > Reagan > Mingy Jongo > Great Mighty Poo imho
Also was Trevalyn in contention? He's not a Rare character but he is a Rare boss.
He was actually. I considered him. I was at first wanting to have the representation of games but I found myself just wanting to put dk and banjo bosses up more and more. I went with my heart!
My no. 1 favourite is tied between grunty in banjo kazooie or terry from tooie
Edit: nvm its DEFO minjy jongo
Mingy Jongo is a strong contender! I like to see some Terry representation tho!
@@jiggylookback litterally the only reason i like mingy only because i was TERRIFIED of him as a kid and had to get my dad to do it for me and the first time i tried fighting him i was screaming “ AGAIN AGAIN!! “ coz i wanted to fight him again 😆😆😆
@@jiggylookback dont lnow why i like terry i just do and grunty is iconic
@ the fight is really cool too!! As a kid I got kinda scared too, but I powered past it
@@Mason-w7y grunty is. Terry is just ginormous and different I think. Kinda cool to fight a dinosaur
Gruntys gonna be #1 I already know but kazooie or tooie???
Oh you think so?
@jiggylookback I had to stop watching but will finish it soon, and Im not so sure now haha
@@jiggylookback yeah great mighty poo is incredibly hard to overlook. was hoping the alien from conkers would get a shout out.. i like it better than teddy bear freak.
@@ZeddtheVHSotaku haha so true about Mad Jack.
I have never thought about Lord Woo Fak Fak like that.
And yes about Lurg!
I dunno man, these bosses seem pretty common
Lol
I am the great mighty 💩 and I'm going to throw my 💩 at you!🎶
💩
I think everybody has a different list. I disliked mr patch. He never seems to hit you and it was sometimes hard to find the last missing patch to conclude. Character wise he was fine, but the battle was terrible
@@PieJee1 for sure everyone has a different list. I enjoyed the battle honestly! But to each their own!
No 007 Golden Eye?
It almost made it. Had to pick my favs tho!
No HAG 1 😔
I can’t please everyone 🤣
Baron samedi 007.
I hated wizpig. 2nd race is much easier and has the best song
You hated it? It’s hard unless you master the boost function.
I will agree it’s easier especially if you have Drumstick or TT!
@jiggylookback drumsticks hard to use. I use pipsy. I know of the boost. Sometimes my timing is off or i fall.in water
None of these bosses are rare. They are all common LUL
Sorry...
Oooooofff 🤣
