In 2021 my Dad who was a personal chef passed away, he loved BBQ and I really wish I had gotten to share this channel with him. Watching your channel is extremely cathartic and I really love what you do. This is one of my all time favorite things to eat and watching how much effort you put into not only the edits and production of these videos makes me, my kids and so many others happy. Keep doing what you do and thank you for making such great content and keep up the good work.
OMG, I'm loving this channel. Mr Man you are fun and quiet entertaining to watch. I will definitely be trying this recipe out. I love how you fast forward through the boring part. Thanks, and keep up the good cookin. I wish you were my neighbor! 😛😋
There’s a spot in the Mission that covers the tortilla in a nearly edge to edge layer of guacamole. Which is rad because it surrounds the entire filling and every bite rocks.
Cali burritos are the best. Here in AZ they make one called the El Rey burrito. It has enchilada sauce in it and it is a great variation of that California style burrito
The one thing they did at my favorite Mex restaurant growing up that I’ve never seen outside of Cali is put the whole burrito in this steam box thing after covering it with cheese and red sauce.
Growing up with NorCal Mission style burritos and to lesser extent SoCal California style burritos this makes my mouth water. So much good Mexican style food here in California. I love fresh flour tortillas. Nice video.
Only thing missing (at least from the Cali burritos I had on a San Diego trip) is using a heavily salted butter when doing the final toast of the burritos. Regardless, they look absolutely amazing 🤤
That looks awesome Chud. The way to make it better would be to replace the pico with fire roasted salsa. The same ingredients but get red jalapenos instead of green. They can be harder to find but are more ripe and add a sweeter and less harsh flavor. Roast all the veggies on the grill or smoker and get them well charred. Then toss them in a blender. It amps up the flavor to another level. You and the ladies will not want to back to pico after you have made that.
i like to cook skirt steak by dropping it right on coals for a really great char about 60 seconds on each side. The Chud grill would make that really easy, just slide the grate out of the way and close the lid when your done.
Burrito 🌯 beloning to my favorite things in life since I made my first one, surprisingly to say that was not that long ago.. Its just not a European thing and I'm glad that there are some youtube heroes who fixed that. Thanks Bradley ❤
one quick suggestion/option for the pico. Adding equal part of cucumbers to onion and a lot of garlic powder is a game changer in my opinion. Don't knock it till you rock it!
SHOULD BE CALLED SAN DIEGO BURRITO! That’s where it’s from & you can’t get it in MOST of California! Thank you for not putting beans like so many do now, not a Cali burrito if it has beans.💪🏻
one of the best burritos I've ever had was at Pepe's in Santa Rosa (I actually had 2 in one sitting). I don't recall fries in a burrito. What a great idea, and one I wish I'd thought of myself when making burritos!
It probably was a Mission style burrito. Although you can get both styles all over the state, California style had its origin in SoCal around San Diego and Mission style is more associated with NorCal and San Francisco.
These look excellent! You did them proud. I do miss California Burritos, although I miss the ones that came from much closer to my hometown even more... the Mission Burrito. Similar, also seriously delicious, but just different enough (aka NorCal style).❤
I would like a good garlic press. I tried the cheapo & brought it right back. It might squish a grape, but garlic was not going through this thing. What do you recommend?
I live in San Diego California and we’ll go to TJ all the time. My father-in-law lives there and now I talked to the #MIN of the restaurant owners and they do use soy sauc in the Tijuana region as part of they’re marinade as part of their marinade.
If you’re ever in Southeast Texas, there are three new places that offer these, all owned by California runaways. Mr. King Taco in Nederland and The Burrito Factory in Port Arthur. And Burrito District in Spring. They’re all fantastic. I lived in Oceanside, California for 4 years when I was in the Marine Corps and my wife is from California, so we have been chasing these in Texas for a while now. 😂
Love this idea but how do I make these tortilla shells without that press? Or where do I get one? And that big tortilla shell warmer? Same questions. Sorry I'm new here and love this I want to make it!
I get this burrito at Uncle Tito’s a local Mexican restaurant. The difference I get is it smothered in a red, spicy chilaquiles sauce, no white cheese sauce; to freaking die for!!! If you like spicy😊
On the critique: the toast is non traditional, and you definitely missed an opportunity to make a house red sauce to dab with each bite, but other than that, this was a perfect representation of the Cali Burrito, well done Brad!
Not dissing but Cali native for 59 years but worked in LA most my life but never had fries in a burrito. Most were 2 egg omelet, hash browns, cheddar cheese, pico and your choice of sausage/bacon or ham some also had a veg choice.
new subscriber here! Hi i love your edits when you dice your inbgredients lol thats epic. Those burittos look amazing, I like hoe you pressed and cooked them all at once. Great video
Sam the cooking guy started the soy sauce craze on carne asada. Brad you might try buying a jaccard for tenderizing steak it works good it just doesn’t even out an uneven steak
As an honorary member of the Mexican community (wife + ⚽ team), The fact that you didn't use an onion to clean the grill made me😮. Everything else is spot on. I hope you enjoyed the beer when you made the marinade
SD guy here, as well. I love a place called Los Chavez. They’re one of the places you can get those ignorantly massive burritos. To anyone in the comments that wants to pretend that LA is better, fight me. I will gladly die on this hill! 🗡️ 🛡️ 🌯
Lolitas would represent the textbook version of the California burrito. Every place does it slightly differently, our cali burrito game here in SD is on a high level.

@9:36 Lets all take a moment to remember that frie still in the basket that never made it out to the kitchen roll... RIP Buddy...
press f to pay respects
I'll bet ya... he got... snatched up. lol
That tortilla press/griddle is genius!

Love how everything is scratch made. Can't believe this channel hasn't blown up with subscribers yet. Keep it up Chud!
The one thing you were thinking that you forgot is salsa to pour in your burrito once you bite into it!!
Besides being an excellent chef and the most entertaining man in BBQ, you have the best edits on YT! Keep up the great work and vids!
bro is winning at life.
the chopping edit makes me smile EVERY time! :D

Making this for dinner tonight!
So awesome meeting you at the bbq festival last weekend.
You As well! That Was A Fun Time
Somehow I feel better knowing that Brad is out there in the world, TRUE!
Growing up with NorCal Mission style burritos and to lesser extent SoCal California style burritos this makes my mouth water. So much good Mexican style food here in California. I love fresh flour tortillas. Nice video.
To up the ante, melt some cheese on the flattop, then roll the burrito onto the cheese so you have a crispy crust on the outside.
I am making these tonight! we cant wait.
Only thing missing (at least from the Cali burritos I had on a San Diego trip) is using a heavily salted butter when doing the final toast of the burritos. Regardless, they look absolutely amazing 🤤
Great looking California breakfast burrito love the contents travels and techniques and everything fresh made makes for a wonderful eating enjoyment
Like the recipe / vid. Nice editing Brad.
Sometimes I use a marinade called Mojo Criollo. It is perfect for something like this.
On my list for the weekend.

I realize that the chopping sequences must be a bugger to edit... but I love 'em!

the effort bro ... legit
I wish I could chop as fast as you.

Looks great and use soy here in a few marinade recipes.
That looks good to me! Just need some hot sauce to put on each bit but thats just me😂

@hannaholivia that is a Chud press, Bradley makes them himself. The latest version is really impressive.

Love the guacamole ASMR and your burrito folding. I run into the same issue every time no matter how much I know I put too much in.
Another great recipe Brad!
Good to shake hands with you and Nick in Lockhart in Saturday.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to Austin next weekend, how do I exchange a case of miller light for a plate of whatever you are making that day?
Love this idea but how do I make these tortilla shells without that press? Or where do I get one? And that big tortilla shell warmer? Same questions. Sorry I'm new here and love this I want to make it!
well done Chuds. Learn to make the fabled cilantro sauce next time! Great on these and fish tacos.
Okay, that did it…I’m on my way. With an appetite and a smile! 🤤😂

Uncooked tortilla is untraditional
Awesome!

Looks Fantastesteic
Why vinegar in the water for the fries?
Love your videos dude
Aww, little baby Cole dough ball!!
Fabulosity! Gracias a Dios no arroz. But come on man, donde esta la salsa verde o roja??
Hey Chud, is the Talow and Water used in your Tortilla recipe in grams? There is no measurement on your list. Thanks

I think we need a monster Chud-sized Chud Press-three feet by three feet with an auxiliary lever like those other tortilla presses but five feet long.
" i feel like i forgot something " hot sauces green or red!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
