    A trick to prevent dust is doing this in your bathroom with hot water running in the tub. The moisture will keep the dust down.

      Nice! Thank you for the idea. I've heard this before. It sounds like it may work. Let me know if you have had some success with this method. Is there anyway that you could have to much moisture in the air? Is there a perfect temperature the water should be? Or a certain amount of time before it is going to be too much moisture in the air. Thanks again for sharing this. 🙂👍

      @@SomethingMobile It works for me multiple times in the past, ever since the Note 8. I know this might sound silly but normally I'd just take a shower, doesn't even have to be a warm shower just a regular one. Or 15 mins of running warm water in the tub. After that, no more dust particles! I think as long as you can feel the moisture in the air, you should be good.

    Long time user of Whitestone Dome since the Note 8. Some tips I have for you all here …
    1. When you apply the glue on the screen, right before you put the UV light on. Take the phone out of the installation guide, and hold it at an angle and let the excess amount of glue run off a bit. The reason, why I do that, is it would be a thinner amount between the screen and the screen protector. Which in turn makes it easier to register your fingerprint … if you even need to. My last couple of times I didn’t need to register as the right amount of excess glue slid off before I used the UV light.
    2. You don’t need to spend 70 dollars on whitestone dome quality screen protector. eBay and AliExpress have the same quality screen protectors there with the glue and UV light for $10 or so for 2 shipped. The only difference is, the Ali or eBay ones don’t have the fancy installation guide frame (simply put it on a flat surface). They don’t have the standing UV light lamp … (they have one you have to hold manually above the phone … anyone with partial motor skills can hold that small USB UV lamp). They don’t have the in-depth installation video instruction … (but I’m sure you all can find an installation video).
    The personal reason why I went with the other brands than Whitestone dome is the price. Yes, I dropped 1500 for my unlocked Note 20 Ultra 512. That doesn’t mean I am going to be stupid to spend 70 dollars on a screen protector. Knowing I can get the same quality for 10 dollars. Another thing is, just as Mike screwed up his installation on the first go. It happens, even to the best of us. And you are already out of half the inventory of screen protectors you spend 70 on. Also, if for whatever reason, usage, fall cracks … that whitestone dome is gone. 70 dollars down the tube. I went with the eBay one and bought about 10 of them for the price of 1 whitestone package (you can get discounts buying multiples on eBay).
    This is my honest opinion/feedback on the matter.

    • @DamianCox
      @DamianCox 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bikemivie6219 so I have tons of experience, the best way to describe the right amount. It's when you tilt the phone at an angle and the excess glue runs off underneath the screen protector whilst you still see full coverage for the screen protector.
      Once you see that, ensure you are all lined up as Mike did in his video before applying the first set of uv light.

      65 for my 1k note 9 was also an investment but i hope you realize that whitestone has a warranty page where they urge you to register your product with proof of reciept when doing so, and theyll send you replacement anytime you need one just as long as you submit visual proof of damage per instance occured

    I just wanted to add. I got the note 20 ultra, the otterbox defender
    case (not the pro), and the amfilm glass screen protector. It works fine
    so far with the otterbox defender. Fingerprint scanning works fine even
    without turning on high sensitivity. I dont have to press unnaturally
    hard for it to scan. Swiping and normal actions are just as natural as
    without the screen protector. I bought the amfilm as I dont want blue

    Hello Mike,
    Greetings! I just posted a comment here but something seems to have gone wrong and I don't see it, so I am trying again.
    First off, thank you so much for making these excellent videos. They are extremely helpful and you seem to have a very pleasant way of explaining things, making sure that your audience understands the subject matter correctly. You never have unkind words to say to anyone and that's something that I really appreciate.
    Coming to the issue at hand, I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, yes, a bit late in the game. I guess it is better late than never because I was waiting for the 22 but it seems that the 20 might be the last of its kind, so I just bought one before they disappear completely and become a thing of the past. These are not available anymore, even on the Samsung Canada website (I am in Toronto).
    Now that I have the device, I want to make sure that it is protected. I started my research on the best glass screen protector and the best case for it. After watching many videos and reading reviews, I decided on the Otterbox Defender (the Defender Pro is not even available here in Canada) for the case and the White Dome glass screen protector. I was however concerned if they were compatible with each other and then I came across your video. Now that I watched your video, I am not sure about it anymore. I tried looking for the amFilm that you have recommended in the comments but it seems to be out of stock everywhere for me to buy here in Canada. (not even available on amazon.ca)
    Hindsight is always 20/20, and since you have done so much research and gone through all the trouble of making sure which protectors are compatible with which cases for the Note 20 Ultra could I ask you for your advice? Much time has also passed since you uploaded this video, you might have learnt other things too, more tips you might have - so what do you think should be my choice for the case and the glass screen protector. I don't want to run into any installation issues and also not have any problems when I am using the phone. Any insight into this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you much for any help, assistance or advice you might have.
    Warmest Regards - Keep up the good work!

      Awesome! Yes you are going to love that phone and congrats on getting your hands on one! Let me know which one you prefer, but I really do like using the 60 Hz refresh with the quad HD display. To my eyes it's nicer to have a super sharp display. All right to the task at hand. So since you can't get AM film the way I installed the white stone dome glass and this screen protector install video is the way I recommend doing it. Just remember that when you are installing it this way you're taking a risk on installing it correctly. Mainly because this is not what Whitestone dome intended the install to be. Nonetheless, I do believe you can do it if you take your time. Look up Mowei screen protectors on Amazon for the Note 20 Ultra. If white stone doesn't work out for you. I've never used that brand, but I've had a couple comments here on TH-cam saying it's really good. One of those screen protectors on my S21 Ultra. Pretty soon. I'll be able to comment more on what I think about that brand after the install and initial use. Thank you for the kind words. And I'll keep doing what I can to make good videos. Take care and live blessed. Blessed! Happy holidays to you.

      So, from what you are saying, I gather the ideal would be amFilm with the Defender. Thanks again and Happy Holiday to you too!

      @SomethingMobile  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anwardawood3315 yeah you're welcome. No problem at all. I'm just happy if I can help really. Okay so I want to be clear. I would make AM film my second choice. If it was me I would do the altered install with Whitestone dome because I want the best glass with the best adhesive. White stone will give you that. AMfilm is good and actually fits better with the natural install if you're using the defender case. If my memory is serving me correct. It's been a while since I've used the Note 20 Ultra with AM film and a defender case. If I'm remembering correctly, the AM film does work with the defender case. Nonetheless, I would go with white stone dome glass. I'm not saying that you should do it, but that's what I would do. This also hinges on the fact that I know I can do the install because I've done it before. I can understand your hesitation. Please do what you feel is best for yourself. Hope this isn't confusing, and good luck to you.

    AMFilm was the first one I bought (came with 2 screen protectors as does the Whitestone). First one went down perfect (no bubbles) but too high and partially obscured the camera. So no good. Second one did exactly the same. Didn't occur at the time, but because with AMFilm you push the phone into the tray from the bottom, logically, there's always a chance it might drop slightly. I guess that's what happened.
    So, after spending several days angry at the money I'd wasted, I bought the Whitestone screen protector. First attempt went on perfectly. Before install, I did see a YT vid of how to install. The guy in the vid said, after the first cure (15 seconds top and then 15 secs bottom), press your thumb on the fingerprint sensor for 20 seconds. Then finish the curing process. I don't know if it was luck, I really don't know if it was just luck or that the advice actually works. But after the finally cure, the fingerprint sensor worked perfectly, no need to re-register.
    As for cases, I use a Samsung leather case, so no danger of the screen protector lifting when I put the phone in the case.
    Hope this helps.

      Super good information here. So I have installed the AmFilm twice and both times I had to make do so carefully. The tray seemed too small. The glass didn’t want to pass by the top edge. I had to make sure I got it passed the top of the try. Once I did the install went perfect. It is a better fit than the Whitestone for me. It is slightly smaller top to bottom I think, only so slightly. AmFilm works best for use with the OtterBox Defender and Defender Pro case. This is one reason I say use the AmFilm instead Whitestone. I may need to upload that AmFilm install I did. To help other people install it. Thank you so much for leaving your comment here. Sharing your experience.

      @@SomethingMobile I just remebered. In yet another YT vid I watched (after trying to install the AMFilm protector and *before* installing the Whitestone), the guy in the vid said, if the screen protector is slightly misplaced, after the glue has spread and *before* you start the curing process, you can slide the screen protector slightly up or slightly down as necessary.
      I don't know how true any of that is as I didn't have to do that. But if the only alternative is to take the screen protector off and start again, it's something to try.

    I have a love hate relationship with this white stone screen protector. My first install on my Note 20 Ultra and the fingerprint sensor wouldn't work at all, no matter what I did. My second install I accidentally nudged the phone when the glue was on the screen and it ran all over the side and back of my phone creating a huge mess. My third install (after buying the pack again) the fingerprint sensor only worked about 25% of the time even after reregistering it, so i ended up tearing the protector off in anger one day. I went about 6 months without a screen protector but then finally decided to give it one more try last night and low and behold everything works great, no issues with the install except for a few pin prick sized air bubbles, and my fingerprint sensor works great after reregistering it. Now i guess we'll see if it keeps working a few weeks from now. Also I'm using the Otterbox Symmetry case and it works fine.

    Enjoyed watching your video. I've gone back and forth between the glued on screen protectors vs the film screen protectors. What you had happen is the exact reason I just use film. Not only can your case create air bubbles but the excess glue can leak into your front speakers. Besides I use more than one case on average which creates another compatibility case/screen protector issue. Also the pricing is getting absurd with some of these glued on screen protectors.

    • @codyhanson4816

      My biggest issue with film is like... in the case of the Note 20 Ultra you're putting a piece of plastic on a beautiful glass screen. Plastic scratches easily, it feels wonky, and it just doesn't last. So what you end up with is a plastic screen that's all scratched, dinged, dented, and looks like garbage. In which case was the trade off really worth it? You're now looking at a gorgeous display through a really cruddy window, lol.

      I've never had a scratch issue with film screen protectors. Granted I recently started using them about 4 months ago vs the tempered glass. The only problem I've encountered is the "fogginess:" they get sometimes due to finger prints. They also all felt fine and smooth.

      @@ChrisJones-cn1ew Might just be an acquired taste, or something. I bought one of those 'hybrid' glasstic protectors, and I removed it a day later with $40 down the drain. Literally after a single day it had multiple fingernail indentations, scratches that were very visible, etc. It did feel pretty nice though. Better for $40 from a company like Zagg, lol.

      For me it comes down to looks or function. Its so hard to find both. All right so with the regular defender yes. Unless you get the box with an E-Jig in it. I think white stone works really hard to make the jig in a way to allow for a really good installation. The jig also makes it nearly impossible to take the phone out to reposition it. If you have the package of screen protectors without the jig. Then it will be possible. I will have to try it for myself to see if it will work. Please let me know what you decide on doing.

      @@SomethingMobile well I just got the n20u and regular defender case. Going to install when it all gets here. I'm a farmer and to be honest beat the crap out of my phone. HAHA. But after 3 white stone glass covers and almost 4 years my n8 gorrilla glass is still completely intact. Otterbox case is broken at the bottom like they all do on a farm.

    I bought a pair of Whitestone Dome screen protectors for my Note 20, having previously used Whitestone screen protectors on my Note 9 and 8's.
    After spending an hour familiarizing myself with the new set up and making sure my protector tape on the side's was perfect and the screen was flawlessly clean, I cured the glue and removed the phone from the glass placement jig. The glass had slid up from the bottom, I had no choice but to tear it off and use the second screen protector !
    Needless to say, I was very unhappy 🙁!
    Two hours after starting the process and two protectors later, the job was accomplished ! It looks perfect.
    This will definitely be my last curved screen phone from Samsung. Samsung has gone down hill ever since forcing their curved screen technology on us, taking away replaceable batteries and now (S22) removable memory cards..!

    I already have the Defender case, but was considering getting this dome glass. You said the case was covering the glass on the bottom? Are you concerned that might induce stress over time and cause cracking?
    Or why is the top not touching so much more important than the bottom not touching?

    • @SomethingMobile
      @SomethingMobile  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cody Hanson, Otterbox made the defender to cover more of the bottom than the top. Whitestone didn't consider this when designing their screen protector. Make sense. Ask more questions if needed. Your other question. I'm not worried about the case sitting on the glass. It seems to be just fine. I would rather the case sit on the screen protector. Have you tried removing one of these from the phone after they break crack from natural drops. There are tons of bad reviews for this on Amazon with the note 20 saying that once it cracks it shatters into a million pieces that are then stuck to the phone. people say they've had to use razor blades to scrape them off and scratch the actual glass. I really want a screen protector that doesn't have that circle in the middle but I'm so nervous that I'll ruin my phone by putting this on if it ends up cracking eventually

    • @SomethingMobile
      @SomethingMobile  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s hard for me to give you insight into this due to not having had a screen protector installed more than 6 months at a time. Consider using Whitestone Dome glass screen protector’s. They really are the best I have used. The Note 20 ultra had some bad batches of Whitestone glass made for them. I believe the brand has gotten better, but there is always a chance that something undesirable will happen. All that can be done is prepare for it. Maybe make sure to replace the glass at least once a year, and if the glass cracks from a drop or bump. Replace the screen protector ASAP. Place some stronge adhesive tape on the broken glass screen protector before you try to remove it. This will hold the glass in place. Remove over a trash bin if possible. Hope this helps, and good luck.

I was having issues after installing the screen protector. I couldn't hear people when on a phone call. The call volume was very low and I turned up all the volume settings. I pealed the layer of glue from the speaker grill very carefully and it worked great. I used the hand sanitizer because it contains alcohol and it soften the glue that I accidentally got on the speaker. Then with the needle, I lifted the glue off the speaker. No scratches and no damage whatsoever. I hope this helps if you happen to get this question.

I rely on the sensor too much for logging into accounts and Samsung pay. So far, based on reviews and reddit, the AM film sounds like it may be better and for a lot cheaper. I purchased a Tech21 impact shield... The instructions were horrible and you only get 1. I screwed it up and was livid. Im waiting on a refund (fingers crossed). I also tried LK TPU protectors. I got 3 for $14. Honestly, by far the easiest and most intuitive screen protector installation I've ever done. Sadly... They refuse to stay adhered to the curved edges. As soon as I put any case on, it would start to lift off after awhile. Sad... They felt great and didn't take in too much finger oil. I have AM film and Ringke Dual Wing on order. I hear nothing but glowing reviews of Ringke and they're CHEAP... But they're just PET which means your solely getting scratch, not drop protection from what I understand.I got a Zagg glass fusion plus installed at best buy today while I wait because I'm scared of having a naked screen. The $40 was steep but it's free infinite lifetime replacements and installation so it's peace of mind. I'm going to wait a day or 2 before I place final judgement on it.

      OK, so first of all I totally understand how you were feeling. It’s super hard to find the perfect glass screen protector for the note 20 ultra. Especially since the screen protectors aren’t cheap. I installed the a.m. film and put the regular defender on my phone, and it was fine. I’m going to put the defender Pro on my phone and keep it on there for a couple days to let you know the results.
      Will that work for you? Is this super time sensitive? I’ll put the Defender Pro on my phone as soon as I get home. It’s got the a.m. film on it right now.
      As for getting a recommendation from tech meet. I’m sure it’s difficult for tech mate to recommend the screen protector to someone when they know there’s a chance of failure. What I mean is it could be based on user error or there is such a big variable on how a batch of cases is made from one batch to the other. Does this make sense? TechMate has to be safe and recommend against some thing that has a chance of failure. Along that same line all I can do is tell you my experience with something. So I will put the defender Pro on my phone and let you know the results.
      Sorry about any spelling errors. I’m using speech to text.

      @@SomethingMobile That would be amazing! Thank you for taking the time to reply and actually test that out for me. It makes sense for TechMatte to take the safe route but a gray-zone "maybe" would've given me more confidence than "not recommended" when it costs $50 to pour liquid glue over my new phone and try.
      It's not super time sensitive as I finally found a glass protector without a circle or UV that should arrive in about 2 weeks. I was told it's likely to work with the Pro but I won't know for sure until I get it. It's still a good idea to have a backup plan and I'd greatly appreciate it if you could report back your results for amFilm, at your convenience.
      Thanks again for all your time and consideration! Liked for your outstanding effort to find the best glass screen protector for us all and subbed for going above and beyond to reply and help everybody in the comments.

      As to my results. I’ve had the defender Pro on for the past three hours, and there are absolutely no bubbles on either right or left bottom corner of the screen. I think it’s going to be fine. I’ll keep it on for a few more days just to see if there is any change. 👍

    I know this is an older video but I just wanted to give my feedback. For the past year I have been trying multiple screen protectors and none of them seem to work with the ultrasonic fingerprint reader of the Note 20 Ultra and my S22 Ultra. One is my work phone, and the other my personal phone. I was always buying very cheap screen protectors on Amazon or at Best Buy and they would basically render the fingerprint readers useless. All because I did not want to spend a lot of money on the whitestone screen protectors. So yesterday I ordered white stone dome screen protectors for both of the phones. The installation is very nerve-wracking. So all I can say to anyone else. DO YOUR RESEARCH before attempting the install. Watch multiple TH-cam videos if you have to. Watch whitestones tutorial. And make sure you understand everything clearly before you start. And most importantly take your time. I did these steps and the whitestone installation went FLAWLESSLY the first time for both phones, No dust bubbles and no air bubbles. This is hands down the best screen protector money can buy. I did not even have to reprogram my fingerprint reader after the install. Because it works flawlessly still through the glass on both my Note 20 Ultra and S22 Ultra. I have zero issues with my fingerprint readers on either phone with this screen protector. It just sucks that it took me this long to buy it. I've been going a year struggling with screen protectors because I didn't want to spend the big money. This screen protector is worth every penny of the $60 Canadian that I spent on each phone. The clarity is unbelievable. Doesn't even look like I have a screen protector on it, it doesn't feel like it either. The best advice I can give anyone attempting to do this. Just take your time. Do your research. And make sure you understand. And you will be okay. it also does not seem to interfere with my case AT ALL. I'm using the spigen line of cases. Then there is no interference whatsoever.

      @SomethingMobile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thank you for the comment! All right so first thing the screen protector worked well with the new case after I installed it in a way to where it would work with the defender case. What I mean is I had to take the top portion of the installation tray off right before I applied the light during the curing process. I moved the glass just ever so slightly down so it would make room for the top part of the defender case. The regular defender works just fine with this white stone dome glass screen protector. The defender Pro does not work with the Whitestone dome glass screen protector. The bottom portion of the Defender Pro seems to push on the glass a little bit too much in the bottom right hand corner. At first you will not notice any bubbles, but after about a minute or so you will see the pressure from the case start to lift the glass screen protector. I took the Whitestone dome off, and replaced it with a.m. film. The fingerprint sensor works a little bit better using a.m. film. The installation process is a little bit more difficult with AmFilm, but because I am film has better customer service than white stone dome. I would choose AmFilm. Nonetheless, every time I have used white stone dome glass screen protectors. They have worked well for me. I’m just relaying what other customers or comments I’ve had in my Comment section. People have commented on the fact that they received cracked screen protectors, and Whitestone dome wanted to charge them $10 for shipping to send them out a new box of screen protectors. That is not good business practice. Therefore I don’t want to recommend them. Please let me know how your installation goes.

      Thank you for this great question, and comment. Okay, the difference is the top part pushes down on the very top of the glass. It doesn't sit on it like the bottom does. The glass doesn't like to be pushed on the edges. Make sense? I have had two replacements from Whitestone. None due to bad quality glass, but here's what you have to do. To get a replacement make an account on their website. To take a picture of your receipt. Use the receipt on the form you will fill out. They will review it. You will get your decision. They have not declined any of my requests. You will pay $10 for shipping, and get your new screen protectors/protector a few weeks later. Thanks again for your comment.

      @@SomethingMobile Thanks for the input, that makes sense i still have yet to hear back from the company. I did in fact register my product with their warranty page as suggested. So far everything is looking ok? do you happen to see any sort of webbing of the glue on the edges of the protector? When you search this whitestone protector on reddit theres a bunch of issues people are having after a short while of having it and installed and apparently trying to receive any sort of response from the company is like hitting the lottery. It was also mentioned that whitestone has all comments on the how-to install of their videos on youtube blocked which seems a bit shady to me. If you know the product you are providing is great and you stand behind your product 100% why not make it well known to future buyers that any issues people are reporting are responded too and handled swiftly and in a professional manor? hopefully i'll have time today to finally install this and i'll report back with my results. good luck all.

      @@SomethingMobile installted the screen protector about 2 or 3 days ago using your method where you slightly pull it down a bit, its been working pretty flawless. I have to say i did add one step which may help people avoid the finger print issue. I placed a 200gram weight (scale calibration weights) over the finger print scanner during the cure process which helps limit the amount of glue which drys in that area. I also over cured the screen, i must of ran the light over it for a good 10 minutes non stop only removing the 200g weight for the last few minutes of the cure. my finger print works flawless and the screen protector so far has been holding up. It'ls only been 2 or 3 days so i'll report back if theres any issues but as of right now its all good. thanks for the tip

    Why would anyone want a science project screen protector? installation is ridiculous

      I wasn’t sure it would be worth it. For me it was, and is. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

      @@SomethingMobile personally I wouldn't be willing to take a chance on a brand new phone, seems ifit goes wrong it goes terribly wrong. what if it does get into your speakers etc, is there a way to fix that or you'll need a new screen protector...and phone...

      I did like you said and had the bottom image almost to the metal and had way too much glass the bottom of the phone. The case is covering the bottom, It's bubbling at the bottom

      I looked all over and could not find any information on any cases that will work with the Whitestone dome glass on that note 20 ultra. I do like the OtterBox but I'm willing to get a different case if I can find one that will work with the Whitestone and is a good case
