One extra thing I had to do was install "Windows Group Edit" onto my machine, Windows 11 HOME does not come preinstalled with it for some reason.

I'm not that familiar with Windows 11, and I struggled for hours trying to hook up a NAS to a new computer running Windows 11. I got page after page of Google search results pointing to threads on the "Microsoft Community" with 100% useless answers from "Certified Microsoft Professionals" until I finally found this video with the actual solution. I've seen this sort of thing for years now... some questions have some random person posting the actual solution, while the "Certified Microsoft Professional" answers gets downvoted by the hundreds to thousands as "unhelpful" because they 100% are. I just for the life of me cannot figure out what the point of that crap is. Anyways, THANKS VERY MUCH to this channel for posting this, and especially for putting it in the description as well.
Wanted to add a THANK YOU, as post 24H2 I was unable to access my Drive shares so after multiple router restarts, PC reboots and trying various networking checks / resets this worked to restore functionality.

Britec Computer has the oldest video showing the whole steps since Window 10 and it's all crap! Numerous others are showing the same, identical steps by now only by coping and pasting the same steps that go nowhere! Got my point now, why 7 years?! So, once again, well done, YOU did it indeed!👏👌
Wow I spent 5 hours trying to solve this stupid error and this video solved it. Went overtime for work just for this stupid error. The Lanman workstation part solved it. We just got a new pc here in our office and the freaking pc can't access other pc's but the other pc's can acces the new one. Holy shit it gave me a headache and stressed me so much. Such a simple thing to do but still gives you so much problem. I will remember this solution for the rest of my life. I would even get a tattoo of 'lanman workstation'. Thank you so much, I got a Windows 11 update last week and since then I haven’t been able to connect to my, MyCloud EX2 through Windows, I’ve tried various workarounds through TH-cam and none worked, I then reloaded Windows 10 and worked straight away, so decided to try reloading Windows 11 again and going to my Network, but it was back to square one, until I found this workaround and now I’m fully sorted, you gave easy and simple instructions to follow thank you again, you truly are a superstar 👍

Golden! New W11 laptop refused to connect to our other W10 desk top. Hours of other TH-cam vids enabled that machine to access the new W11 laptop, but no joy the other way. This video cured the issue. Thanks so much. ....MS conspiracy theory here. W11 has obscured or hidden many user tools like control panel etc., and maybe even sabotaged file sharing by requiring the deep dives described here. Why? Old style file sharing was free. MS OneDrive isn't.
Excellent! It works perfectly on Windows 11 Enterprise and Pro with the latest 24H2 build. By enabling the final option in the policy, I was able to easily access my shared folders.
