Hej Brian, thanks for the video; it's very useful. I had read about that problem and its fix with NAS on Windows 11 version 24H2 earlier, but it's good that you also posted a video with a fix for NAS on Windows 11, version 24H2. I'm running Windows 11, 24H2, but there has been a slightly shaky rollout of Windows 11 24H2 for many. However, it's not all Windows' fault; it also takes time for different companies to release new drivers for software and hardware for a new Windows version. So, the best thing is to wait a couple of months before updating to a new Windows version, as you also say, Brian. I want to thank you, Brian, for all your videos posted in 2024 and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year..
@Britec09 Hej Brian, thanks! Yes, time goes by fast, and soon we will be in the new year 2025. Keep up the nice work; I personally appreciate everything you do for us Windows users, and all your other tips and product reviews. Take care, Brian.
I've got a question for you Brian, iot's not this video bit I have a external hdd I copied many films 2 4TB and I did it in windows 7 but 11 want's me to initialize it so I went back to 7 and it's fine. Have you seen this before?
I also had connection issues with all my mapped drives not connecting. At first I thought it was my NAS, then noticed drives mapped to my security pc (always on) also had a red X through the drive letter. Figured it was a windows issue then, with the only change being the latest Windows update. I simply disconnected, then remapped my drives. Been working fine since. But if it happens again I’ll follow your steps.
I've tried all this to access my Pi usb music SSD to no avail. Used to work using //volumio but not any more, I have to use Winscp which isn't the end of the world but still annoying.
For me, 24H2 deactivated my Windows product key. It also broke Nvidia DSR scaling from 1080p to 1440p and I was experiencing other miscellaneous issues. I decided to roll back for now. After rolling back, my product key was activated again. Apparently, many others have reported this issue with the product key.
What you're looking for is a router setting called 'IP Reservation' or 'DHCP reservation' depending on the device. It tells the router that a device with a specific MAC address (12 digit hex string like B1F2C3D4E5A0) maps to a specific IP address so any time the router sees that device it gets assigned that IP address.

Try enabling SMB 1 and see if it connects, you can always remove it after.
Hi Brian very informative as usual. I have been having a problem since I upgraded to Win 11 24 Home where I get intermittent freezing.
Rollback

24H2 has caused a few issue for people
Does anyone know a solution to a changing IP for a NAS every time the router is reset?
