Thank you 🙏 Very well explained. Yes I also find Confucianism fits perfectly into the modern world. Confucianism worked fine for 2000 years in China until western imperial colonizers came to change and destroy everything that had been working fine from B.C era well into A.D era. Then China fell into war for 150 years. Then the constant wars, corruption, huge rich-poor gap, high illiteracy rate, many unfair treaties pushed China into chaos and desperation and people into despair. To find a way out for China and save the thousands years old and great civilization, Communism was born. Confucianism had been part of people’s daily life for generations for thousands of years that people weren’t aware of it. Communism was Karl Max’s ideal. When communist China had to fight invaders from de vest and rebuild the poor backward nation that just went through 150 years of war, Chinese people, mostly peasants, blamed Confucianism for being conservative, outdated, superstitious because 1. they saw the powerful western weapons . 2.the peasants just gained their new-found powers and liberation. They thought Confucius conservative and Confucianism constrained them and pulled them back and dragged them down. So early communist China got rid of Confucianism. Since China opened up in 1980, lots of social problems became clear. Chinese government and ordinary citizens look to Confucianism for inspiration in good governance and start to see the wisdom of Confucius and realize that Confucianism is a great philosophy, not some kind of superstitious religion and not boring and not conservative as thought. I am glad that Confucianism is making a come back to keep China as the continuous great civilization.
Brilliant. Look forward to reading your new book as I have enjoyed your previous book New Confucianism. Hope more people outside China, including Chinese residing overseas, would watch this video.
i think china should forge ahead with new ideas based on socialism with chinese characteristics for the new era. i don’t understand why old feudal ideologies are necessary
Dr. Bell, as the dean of Political Science at Shangdong university, is truly a remarkable person.

Confucianism is why China is so safe and harmonious.
Interesting thoughts!
Because quite a lot of it makes good sense and easily becomes self evident for many people in a broad sense
Confucianism is to morality...sincerity & justice.....

I am an overseas Chinese and I was brought up on Confucius philosophy.
Me too.
Thanks, you explain the difference between 和 and 同 very well.
In the West social responsibility has been reduced to charity perhaps. I see that in China it is almost a way of life!
I am also studying Confucianism
Confucianism isn't making a comeback. it's always there and you just move it to center stage.
Eastern and islam are well known for their morality

New ideas can come from the gradual coevolution of both. There's no need to discard proven wisdom to make progress.
Already proven to be possible as we see with China today.
Discard liberalism, embrace Eastern thought@@helpmboab2034
