One of my all time favorite games. I was pretty stoked when I could complete "no death" runs. This is phenomenal.

It's pretty impossible to be stressed playing a game with such awesome music. Masonori Adachi and Taro Kudo really outdid themselves. I know a lot of these songs were on other Castlevania games, but the best versions are here. I would love to hear an HD remake of this music or an orchestral version.

@TortureCulture Yes and no. Some themes and bosses reappear, but they're entirely different. Castlevania 1 and 3 are probably my favorite NES games. Been playing them off and on since the late 80s. 3 has more in common with 1 than 4.
@TortureCulture More of a 16 bit sequel like Mario World. It's not Mario All Stars, though. You play as Trevor Belmont, Alucard, Sypha and Grant in 3.

I remember the first time I beat this game , it felt so epic the moment " The Dance Of The Holy Men " started playing as Dracula was on his last life bar. A smile came over me as I beat the game again last year when I bought it from the eshop after 20yrs since last beating it.

This is the game I taught my mother video games on almost 30 years ago. She went on to beat Super Metroid, Link to the Past, and all the Donkey Kong Countries.
The best thing about this speed run is that he plays the uncensored version of Castlevania 4, love it so much!!!

28:48 Still remember at the age of 6 throwing the game in the trash in anger in this fight. Then going down the next morning wanting to play and upset that i threw it out to find my parents had put it back in the snes. Beat him the very first try next day. lol Players now-a-days don't understand how hard games used to be, majority of games now just hold your hand and pity you throughout the game. I can go to the store and buy any triple A game and beat in 2 or 3 days with ease and not even think about it . To all you out there who question our sanity about being Dark Souls fanatics, most of us grew up with far more unforgiving and merciless games, it's nostalgic. lol There's nothing more satisfying than giving up with no hope of ever being able to beat a certain point or boss, just to beat it your first try the next day.

Does anyone know if there are any tutorials or sites that break down some of the time saving techniques like swinging from the ring and hurling Simon up a platform or moonwalking down stairs and dropping?
I know they’re performed here but it would be awesome if someone explained in depth how to perform them.

People do speedrun Castlevania III. And while the casual difficulty of the game is higher, it's generally considered to be a less difficult speedrun than CV4.
You know one thing that I like about this game's speedrun is that there are no glitches that skip areas or anything. You have to go through the whole game but super fast.

This game was tuff as nails when you played it back when you were a child without all the fancy prerecording stuff. Now it seems all WR looks easy to pull off because they all do the save-state memory game.

To upload an obsolete run that took place a year and a half ago to 9.8 million subscribers knowing it'll generate a lot of publicity, is flat-out disrespectful to myself and twocat who have pushed this game a lot farther and have better runs since then. I have no idea why Paul was even reached out to or why he even agreed, instead of supporting the better players and giving them a chance. No effort was even made to contact myself or twocat so thanks.
It is very misleading. I thought this was just done, and would have not have known any better if I had not looked in the comments. If anything It got me aware that people do other speedruns besides super mario brothers.

Paul is awesome, this run is awesome. But I 100% agree it was really lazy of IGN not to double check this. Joe and TwoCat have worked incredibly hard to best this record.
