Super Metroid is the magnum opus of video games. It’s so great on so many levels. It suits and nails every playstyle you could think of, and is therefore very accessible to any kind of gamer, from the causal to the hardcore. But most importantly, it’s so close to being perfect that it’s undeniably one of the greatest.
I found this game to be incredibly difficult as a youngster... This and that old Snes/Genesis SPIDER-MAN game, which I still think is one of the best superhero games ever made. I wanna see a speedrun of that!
He shoots at just the right point in his initial jump, so that the game still registers the hit on the block even though it's off-screen. You can still shoot off-screen blocks, doors and enemies if you're within a certain distance. You can also extend the range of the shot by following it: because he's moving the screen in the same direction of the shot, it lets the shot travel further before it despawns.
Okay, at 12:33, what IS that enemy? I've been wondering about that since childhood. It seemes to be unique! I've always wanted to see how much damage it would do etc.
I know this is 2 years old but why does he grab the varia suit after killing Kraid? Does he need the extra damage reduction for anything in particular?
@@SolidusSnapesthis is incorrect. In the normal game, gravity suit protects from room heat damage as well. The real reason is that without both suits equipped, Mother Brain's rainbow beam would do six tanks of damage rather than three. And it's much faster to pick up Varia than three additional energy tanks.
so if mother brain was a part of the chozo project that created the metroids in the first place, why did she have issues cloning them, making moctrouds in the meridian area ? but succeeded in lower turian i wonder if it was just early attempts at recreation
Weird that they are not showing one of the runs by Zoast, considering he has beat this time?? Behemoth is not Record Holder any longer, IGN you are a couple months behind. Plus Zoast was the 1st to hit 41 minutes on Super Metroid

This is an old run. Zoast already beat this run by 10 seconds. Why is IGN posting old speedruns that have been beaten already?

It's a short charge. You can activate it by tapping the dash button. The more you tap, the less distance is needed to charge it

You take damage to heated rooms in norfair without suit.
