Awesome! My laptop upgrade path is similar to yours. Went from a 960M 4gb with i7 6700HQ to an Alienware with RTX 3080 and 10th i7 with 32gb of ram. It pretty much makes the old laptop run like a relic in time. 1080P was barely playable on the old laptop and now I can play up to 4K in certain titles.
@@yyeezyy630 yeah it has been able to play most games at 4K 60fps. What I love is I can use it on my 4K tv almost like a Series X then hook it up to my 1440P monitor for more competitive higher refresh games.
Hi, I have basically a Similar Laptop To yours. I also upgraded from a MSI Laptop with a 5600HQ/960M However here is my new laptop A 12th Gen i7 (12700H) .. which is stronger than your 10th Gen. However. I only have a RTX 3070M 130w as opposed to your stronger RTX 3080M. So I’d say our laptops at end of the day are probably identical. So I can understand how you feel. This is like a massive freakin leap. I LOVE this new laptop. My 5800x/6900Xt Desktop hasn’t been getting as much love since lol. 😂

That cpu bottleneck exactly happen in my laptop as well with ryzen 7 4800h and rx 5600m. Mainly it causes because of igpu interference. After using a external monitor via HDMI (it connects directly to dedicated GPU) I see massive gains on every single game. Like more than 10% performance increase. Also stability will be much better as well.

I am so happy for you Kryzzp! Laptops are really good now, but the power disparity is crazy, the RTX 3080TI laptop version is normally 150W a couple laptops push it to 175Watts , but the desktop RTX 3080TI is 350W! next generation maybe laptops find a way to do 200Watts but desktop GPUs will reach 450+ as is rumoured. At least FSR 2 and DLSS would work better on smaller laptop screens.

Also, it depends on the model, I am talking about the disparity between the same model of GPUs, like RTX 3080 mobile vs desktop RTX 3080. I could compare RTX 3070 mobile (80-125 watts) and Radeon RX 6400 (53 watts) and say laptop GPU's consume more than desktop chips!

i have the same laptop bought it just before christmas last year , and i love it .... just did a little upgrade for the ram , i upgraded it to the Kingston Fury Impact Black 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200 Mhz CL20 .... this laptop is a real monster....
I got a g17 back in september last year with same specs but different display(1080p 300hz) and it served me well for now. Payed around 1600€ for it and i coudn’t say I would’ve gotten a better deal till now.

The 11800H is better for gaming than the 5900HX by the way, still both are similar but Tiger Lake's single core speed helps plus the partial OC support and undervolting, not available on Alder Lake H series for some reason, 11800H also has AVX512 instructions, it is helpful for RPCS3.

Hey there sir! Just wanted to give you a small warning and hope im wrong but, your cpu temperature is in my opinion way above normal. It's regularly reaching over 85 c in this video and many games have it constantly above 80. Granted, I am a desktop pc played and my tech friends told me that the max my cpu temp can reach is 70 c. It rly doesnt ever go above 60 in my case. I don't know about laptop temperatures but that cpu temp seems way too high. If it is indeed the case, I'd recommend lowering some game settings, enabling DLSS quality where ever you can and capping the fps to arround 70ish to reduce the preassure on your gpu and cpu. Hopefuly that might normalize your cpu temp a bit. Cheers!
not sure if you will see this or not, but a laptop with no mux switch will have optimus all the time, but once connected through HDMI to 2nd monitor, the HDMI is connected directly from dGPU to the 2nd monitor, which is the only way to bypass optimus on non-mux switch laptops. so basically you're running the laptop dgpu at max performance this way.
What a nice laptop you've got, and a great video as always, it is impressive what it can do even consumes much less power than a desktop PC but it is great, I also have a 3070 but the Ti version that I read that it runs like 5% or 10% faster than the 3070 but still it is a great one, glad to see that you are still growing up in your channel

Yea disabling Optimus is so important for full performance, I never get cpu bottlenecks on my alienware m15 r6 with an i7-11800h and rtx 3060, it doesn’t haven’t a full mux switch but u can disable Optimus in the bios, the performance gain is insane, you can get up to 15% more fps, whatever numbers u see here in this video, that laptop can actually get 10-15% more fps if u disable Optimus, so it’s even better than it looks
Hey kryzzp! U can drop the temps by 10c by putting the laptop on a stand which works great for intake airflow cuz the back is raised. My Legion 7i is AT MAX mid 60s on both gpu and cpu on max fans with i7 11800H and RTX 3060(130watts) in the scorching 45c temperature of pakistan
Sorry but the cpu temps for a 11800h under load arent beliveable. I watched a TON of vids even jarrod tech with cooling pad and the resluts were much higher with much colder air temp...or do you speak idle?

I bought a gaming laptop with this eGPU but I just played it for benchmarking, I thought I was going to use it more but in reality I use my "desktop" PC connected to the oled in my living room, much better experience. Of course laptops are better if you live in a tiny dorm but once you go big oled (and its power required for 4k120), there is no coming back. I would of course use the laptop if I had to go to a mining site or an oilrig for several days :p
I've got brother model, it is running RX6800M, closing at 300FPS in Apex 1080p competitive settings. I feel like it might be better option, additionally it has 12gb Vram ;)

Your selling yourself short. I play 4k in almost every game with a 2070 mobile at 60 fps your computer should be able To play anything at 4k :)

Pretty likely, I saw leaks of the tdp for the AD102 laptop chip and it was 175 watts. It'll probably boost to 185 or 200.

I'm glad I have a RTX 4060 laptop, this GPU is as powerful as the RTX 3070 Laptop(2 fps difference).
My 3070 is decently faster than this laptop. I have it running at 150 watts with 185 core clock and plus 700 memory clock. Still an aging laptop.

Hi, I used the HDMI port, in this laptop the USB C port is the one connected to the GPU, I can't use that because of the capture card.

Yea disabling Optimus is so important for full performance, I never get cpu bottlenecks on my alienware m15 r6 with an i7-11800h and rtx 3060, it doesn’t haven’t a full mux switch but u can disable Optimus in the bios, the performance gain is insane, you can get up to 15% more fps, whatever numbers u see here in this video, that laptop can actually get 10-15% more fps if u disable Optimus, so it’s even better than it looks

9:30 well, at least here on my Ryzen 5 3600 I get +90% of CPU usage sometimes, so I think it's actually using SMT.

Hey kryzzp! U can drop the temps by 10c by putting the laptop on a stand which works great for intake airflow cuz the back is raised. My Legion 7i is AT MAX mid 60s on both gpu and cpu on max fans with i7 11800H and RTX 3060(130watts) in the scorching 45c temperature of pakistan
Sorry but the cpu temps for a 11800h under load arent beliveable. I watched a TON of vids even jarrod tech with cooling pad and the resluts were much higher with much colder air temp...or do you speak idle?
@@theplayerofus319 not idle. Im talking about gaming while cpu is using 30-40 watts and gpu is using 110-120watts and cpu only workload like cinebench its around 75-80c
Thats an a awesome deal for that laptop.Here in my city you can get i5 11th gen with gtx1650 for 1900 euros!Also to mention how good the cooling is on this laptop,through the video it didnt hit 90° on both cpu and gpu!

I bought a gaming laptop with this eGPU but I just played it for benchmarking, I thought I was going to use it more but in reality I use my "desktop" PC connected to the oled in my living room, much better experience. Of course laptops are better if you live in a tiny dorm but once you go big oled (and its power required for 4k120), there is no coming back. I would of course use the laptop if I had to go to a mining site or an oilrig for several days :p

I've got brother model, it is running RX6800M, closing at 300FPS in Apex 1080p competitive settings. I feel like it might be better option, additionally it has 12gb Vram ;)
