    What pisses me off the most is when I can't get over to let a car merge so I slow down a little to let the 4 wheeler in and they FUCKEN SLOW DOWN!

      A 4 wheeler has no idea how much preparation we do as truckers for each hill climb and keeping a steady speed this not only helps the fuel miles but also the environment

    On ramps, Tankers risk greatly increases to move over. When Van drivers condition 4 wheelers that moving over is a courtesy, 4 wheelers expect tankers to do the same. Slowing for oncoming mergers is an option, but moving over is dangerous.

    If you're going out on the road, thinking that everyone else is your enemy, you're screwd. You'll have your bad day in no time.
    If you're going out thinking that everyone else is your friend......everything will be fine!
    The road is where many different personalities coexist. It needs patience and cooperation. 👍

Also added compliance regulations ie., FMCSA / DOT rules and regs are an additional burden but also have the unintended effect of turning truck drivers into highly responsive, and responsible professionals. Yeah I don't agree with his off-ramp merge conclusion that it's the truck that needs to move over each and every time. I think it's safer for us to stay where we are and for the mergers to just follow the law and yield the right-of-way

    • @mike-sk2li
      @mike-sk2li 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree it's absolutely nuts to move over. You end up a sitting duck in the left lane. Most times the idiots will match your speed. Then you have pissed off driver's behind you

    • @bonnieanderson429
      @bonnieanderson429 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My take on this is, if it is an 18 wheeler I will do my best to get over or slow down to let them in. If it is a 4 wheeler I will access their speed and distance from my truck and move accordingly. 4 wheelers have the ability to speed up a lot quicker than I can so in some instances that is what I expect them to do. I do try to access every situation and be courteous accordingly. But I am not going to shoot myself in the foot either.

    You should always try to move over to give a truck room to merge onto the road because you know what it takes to get out there and get going, but I don't worry about moving over for cars because they can get up to speed quickly.

    You DO NOT slow down to "let somebody in" that's trying to merge onto the road because then you're causing people behind you to risk rearending you. You hold your lane and your speed and the car can merge when they have the space to.

    4:26 I disagree on the highway on-ramps. I own a Prius and it still has enough juice to match highway traffic speeds when I floor it, being soo light, and out accelerate any truck out there. Am a new driver and I pulled over for the 4 wheelers and my trainer said don't do it, that it is more dangerous for me to make a lane change, because these things come upon you suddenly sometimes and you never know who is right next to you in your blindspot. It is sooo much easier for them to adjust to you. Sometimes they get upset and call the company, but the company will just inform them of the law that they have to yield. I haven't been to any on ramps where they are so short that I couldn't make traffic speeds in Illinois, Wisconsin, and California where I've lived. Most minivans will out accelerate a Prius.
    I will pull over or slow down for a merging truck or a whole pack of 4 wheers.

    • @jeffdickerson6323
      @jeffdickerson6323 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree Jacob, Two big problems are caused by pulling out into the next lane, moving a 60 mph truck into an 80 mph lane could and does cause vehicles in that lane to slow down and if it is busy that is what starts the back ups, how many times have you guys come to stopped or slow moving traffic at an on ramp just to see that there is no apparent reason for the slow down. Braking by vehicles in front causes that back up because the vehicles coming on the ramp do not know how to merge properly. It is better for the backup to be on the on ramp @ 30mph as opposed to the 80 mph highway.
      My 2nd point is when stupid, selfish people drive down the ramp and not looking to merge but just assuming everyone else will move for them, quite often distracted i.e on the phone or texting and get to the end of the ramp to find themselves blocked by traffic which can't move.
      actually I have a 3rd too, when a vehicle comes down the ramp and not looking to merge, so you get out of their way, they then accelerate away leaving you hanging in the middle or outside lane, then a load of idiot 4 wheelers undertake you and leave you stuck in the centre lane. This causes the issue mentioned above slowing down the traffic on the highway, causing backups and potential accidents. No, moving over causes a lot of problems but because it is in the rear view mirror is seldom seen.
      All this, of course, doesn't apply if you are, for instance, driving on the I15 in Montana because the traffic is not an issue, then by all means pull over if you want.
      Oh, and a final point to other truckers on courtesy, if a truck has let you out don't sit alongside or accelerate up the inside and leave me hanging, I have been courteous and let you out, repay me and let me back in !

  • @robertvondeusche6245

    Even as a fellow smoker I couldn’t agree more of that throwing cigarette butts out the window is just unnecessary. Chop a water water bottle and half leave some water in it and throw it away the next time you fill up. As far as merging, yes it should seem simple but it seems like only 50% of people get it. Every once in a while a four wheeler will be merging onto the highway and as I slow down they slow down, I’ve gotten flipped off and honked at me for trying to be courteous. The way I see it now whether it is a mom and her two kids is she should know what she’s doing if she is behind the wheel like I do. I won’t speed up but I will no longer slow down, their problem .
    MO is the worst for this
    Lastly, I’ve been out here only three years or so and I appreciate the advice on the highbeams. I didn’t know it would affect people as much and I will now dim my lights thanks to you.

That is trucking....

    The thing that get me upset is when drivers park right in front of shipping or receiving office, blocking other doors, when there is truck parking available.

    I absolutely hate it when cars and trucks forget to turn their high beams off at night, if you can't remember to turn them off, don't use them at all

    Something that irritates me is when a 4 wheeler or big truck is on the on ramp but going way too freaking fast that it seems like they are going to pull out in front of me! This causes me to have to slam the brakes on thinking I am about to get into a crash!
